    Report: HOLY COW!!!!!!!
I haven't had the opportunity to fish Clear Lake in two years and I made up for it this weekend. Sold my boat recently so took my father in law and his little fishing boat (not as comfortable as my 21' rig, but got us to where the fish were). Here is a quick brake down:
    Saturday: 50 fish Best 5 25 (Big fish ~8)
    Sunday : 30 fish Best 5 28 (Big fish ~9)
Fished everything from topwater and cranks to jigs and senkos. Jigs were definately the top producer. I tie my own brown jigs (3/8 oz) with brown yamamoto twin tail. Fished around the narrows, Soda Bay, Konocti, Windflower, and Anderson Island. There are still some spawning fish around; a number of the fish we pulled up had other fish with them and they had irratated fins. Topwater bite was inconsistent on the spook. Crankbait of choice was a white deep little n.

What an amazing lake, can't wait to go back. Oroville is fun, but the spots just don't measure up if you know what I mean.
    City: Chico

Tips: I love to fish a jig so I'm biased. Senko didn't seem to work as consistantly, but did produce some nice fish.

Biggest went about 5 pounds.
    City: Sac

Tips: Topwater seems to be on right now. make long cast into the shade and slow constint movement on the bait. I used a Jr Spook! Also the Crig Worked well as always!!! We were using a lizziard!! Take A Kid Fishing

Report: Fished with my friend Adrienne Dunn on 6/2, Adrienne landed 25 fish to 4 lbs and I landed 40 fish to 6 lbs, the water is the clearest I have seen in June since I been fishing it 17 years. We were fishing rock and you would throw your Yamamoto Hula grub out there and a fish would come out and eat it that was not there a second ago because you could see where you through it. We also got them in a cove past Shag Rock in the weeds and under docks. I saw 2 8 lbers in 5 feet of water and 2 4 lbers next to them and I hit one of the 8's with my Yamamoto grub in the nose and she just swam away very happily:( I got the biggest bluegill I have ever seen there also on a Yamamoto Creature bait with a 3/8 oz foot ball head!! I will post a picture of it soon, the Creature bait is in its mouth and I am holding it like a bass with my thum in its mouth, yes bluegill not crappie:)
    City: San Jose

Tips: Did not get a fish over 2.5 until 10:30 PM and than the big girls came out to play, My friend got a 4 lb and I got a 5 lb and a 6 lb all with in 30 min of each other after 10:30 and lots of more 1.5 to 2.5 lbers also, we fished until 3:00 am because we would keep getting one every 15 minutes. All fish over 3 lbs came on Brown Persuader jigs with Yamamoto Watermelon twin tail trailers drug reeeeeeal slow. Hey Larry I finally found that rock pile off Anderson island that I got my 5 lber on when I went on the guide trip with you 10 year ago:) the only reason I found it is because I could see it 10 feet down!

Report: Clear Lake was looking good for the 3 day weekend. Not too hot, not much wind, and I had 2 outdoor dinners with no bugs at Rancho Ricardo! I fished some on Sunday around Oak Cove with my wife and friend Rob. They drop shotted I threw a Spot Remover with a green pumpkin Trick worm. It all worked. My wife got 4, I got about the same, all late in the day in about 45 minutes. But I had a guide trip Monday so it was early to bed. The trip was on fire! It was so good my friends will never believe me. I was out on a guide trip with Bob Myskey of www.fishclearlake.com and my friend Rob "Mr. P." a middle school teacher from Pleasanton. We (Rob and I) wanted to try topwater in the morning, we met Bob in Lucerne at 6:30 and headed out trying some spots on the upper east side of the lake. We didn't land many, and moved towards the Narrows, not much action there either. So Bob said reel them up and we moved to fish the next 4 hours on spots above Shag Rock. Man it was on. Smaller fish were up tight, bigger fish were deep. Rob had the big fish over 6, I had a big fish over 5, lots of 4's in the mix our best five were close to 25. Total for the day was 64 healthy hard fighting fish (lots of jumpers) most in the last 4 hours from 7:30 to 11:30. It was hard to stop. It was an unreal day! Even the boat traffic wasn't that bad. Thanks Bob!
    City: Oakland/Clearlake

Tips: The water was still pretty clear. I love seeing the fight with these fish. I saw one about 10 feet from the boat shake his head about 10 times in a row really hard and fast and right in front of me. That was exciting. Bigger fish were deeper. We caught the fish on drop shot, very little action, almost dead stick. Not much seen shad in the water, hope that isn't a bad sign.

Arrived at 1pm and told myself figure out the jig and thats it. Well about 20 fish later (mostly 3-4lbs)I have the confidence I need to Throw it whenever now. Kobe caught his first 3 fish ever, one being a 4 lber. Michaela got a 3.5 just before dark on a senko and the wife....well she'll get lucky later.

Report: Launched out of Clear Lake Oaks around 8 am with a late start I started on walls immediately at the ramp and started catch some 2.5 pound speed trap fish. I then moved over to the east side of Anderson Island and caught several more speed trap fish but move out to around 20 feet and caught a few on a jig. Move up to Hey 20 side across from State Park and caught some more speed trap fish and jig fish but the wind was picking up and with all the boats on the water I felt like a cork bobbing up and down so i move back into the Keys catching a few on speed trap but main the jig. All in all about a 45 fish day with a 5.9 for my biggest.

Report: Arrived at the Red Bud ramp at midnight - we slept until 5am and started right at Beeman island, did not even start the big motor and caught 15 to 20 fish before the sun came up. :) My friend started off throwing wacky riggged senkos and caught two fish on his first three casts, both around 3lbs. I was throwing a spook with no takers, I switched over to to T-rigged sweet beaver and whacked about 10 fish up to 3lbs. We then moved over into Jago bay and started working the docks and tules in between. Found most of the fish had moved out a ways and caught them on the texas rig ROBO 7" MM. It really did not matter what I put on as it was more the areas we fished it seemed like. What was cool is that you can be fishing behind other boats and still pick up fish if you do opposite what they did. We fished until 1:30 pm and then got some rest. I would say we caught 60 to 80 fish in that time.
Got back on the water at 6pm. A little windy and the boat traffic was a little heavy as the wakeboaders -skiers were coming as close to us as possible. We did manage to pick up about 15 more up to 3lbs that came on Senkos for my pard and I was using a 10" power worm in Blue fleck and Junebug to get the bigger fish. 6 plus lbs. This was at night until 10pm. Weird, but No spook or frog fish on this trip. :(
Sunday 5am head right over to Baylis point and fished all the way over to Lakeview point w/out using the big motor and caught 30 fish up to 5lbs. Wow, What a phenomemal fishery this is.
It got to the point that if you did not get bit after 10 minute you thought something was wrong. Yep, casting accuracy comes into play once the sun gets up and your target area gets smaller and the fish move into the shade. Easy pickings once you figure them out. Now go fishing to Clear Lake...

Report: The wife and I had a great day today. We caught decent numbers of fish. She outdid me with the most fish, she had 35 to my 32. I however had the biggest fish of the day a 5-6 taken on a shakey head worm. I also caught my first ever smallmouth on a MMII drop shot, that was quite a surprise to say the least. We found fish everywhere we stopped and caught fish on the shakey head, LV 500, drop shot, senko and jig. The fish are starting to show up in their summer haunts and many of the fish we caught today were quite wore out from the spawn. Their was a TON of boat traffic on the lake, but we had no problems finding plenty of water to fish.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Get out and fish, the bite is pretty much wide open. However you like to fish should produce. for use today it was watermelon and MMIII worms and brown jigs that produced the most fish for us.

Report: Sometimes I take for granted that I get to fish and guide on the greatest bass lake in our country. I have fished Clear Lake since I was a boy. Yesterday (Thurs) I learned to appreciate what we have all over again!! The long day was divided into three parts as I guided and fished about 15 hours. I met a mother and her 9 year old son at 6 am for their guide trip. They are NOT the average mother-son duo. I guided them at Almanor when he was 7 and he cast, hooked, fought, and landed a 3 lb 3 oz smallie and his photo made it on the home page of this site. We started in the Rattlesnake arm using plastics that had to be green pumpkin. I had them using 7 and 8 inch Power worms and Dead Ringers and I worked with the Yamamoto Kreature baits, mostly #301. The action was nearly non-stop all day - mom was queen-for-the-day with the biggest at 5 lbs 2oz. The boy was unbelieveable - one time he said "I like this dock" - dropped his worm down and got a 4 pounder. As the day ended and I was starting to put the rods away on Windflower Point, the boy makes this way-to-long cast but I figured it was too late to correct him again. Immediately he yells "I think I got one!". I didn't even look up from my clean-up chores, thinking "not a chance". When I heard a quality bass jump I was on the net in an instant! How could he do that - set the hook at 25 yards - he is only 9!!!! So, I netted his 4-10 in amazement. That was bass number 39 for the trip and I told them to bring them in 'cause no one would believe "40"! In a few seconds I hear mom say "I'm sorry but I have another one." So, yes, a 40 fish day - and they caught the most and the three biggest - our limit was pushing 22 lbs. After letting them off I rested under the nice shad trees at Limit Out Tackle - I may have dozed some. Back on the water at 5:30 pm to do something new - fish frogs in the keys. Not being a big fan of the keys I have never done that. Maybe I will now - I was 6 for 6 on my green Snagproof frog - biggest at 6-3. Five biggest at 23 1/4 lbs. I knew I was too proud - I lost the last 2. Then I motored up to the Anderson Island area and caught a 2 1/4 and a 4-3 on a Storm Chug Bug topwater lure. Those were at the mouth of Brados marina. I ended the evening throwing 6" 301 Senkos and caught 8 to around 4 1/2 lbs. They we eatin' 'em! I just made it to Konocti Resort for a quick burger and back out to see how long I would last for night fishing - about 3 1/2 hours was my limit. Surely they wouldn't bite as well at night after feeding all day. I really can't compare a guide trip to fun fishing becasue conditions are different and the customers come first. But I really thought the night bite was even better. I lost track after 25 bass with 4 over 5 lbs and so many 4's that it made my head spin. My limit was 27 lbs+. I only used 10" black Power worms, Power hogs, and black/red brush hogs. I just fished well-known areas, Konotci Bay, Anderson Island area, a few rock piles in know, Shag, Indian Beach, Rattlesnake Island ledges, and stuff like that. Me and my tired body didn't want to leave but reliving the memories on the way home caused a permanent smile!!!! If every fishing trip was like that - would it be boring?!!!!!!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: How do you give tips with fishing like Clear Lake is experiencing? Maybe I should tell you how "not to catch 'em"! If you read these reports, everyone is doing pretty well during the post-spawn with all sorts of techniques. I will say we did pattern deeper water looking for quality bass during the day and it seemed to work. We caught many at the 15 to 22 foot depths. Even the quality night bass were fairly deep. Most of my quality Senko bass in the evening came from the outside dock pilings - some as deep as 15 feet. Don't bother fishing around the stringy weeds that are showing up - they just don't seem to hold many bass and are hard to fish also. My frog bass all came on areas that had "cheese" - flat areas of floating green matter, usually on the outer edges of tules. I'm going back to bed - don't know how I stayed awake for this long report. Have fun fishing this weekend - you will probably see another boat or two!!!!!!

Report: I won a guide trip at folsom bass club with guide on clear lake. Ross England. Doc and I fished frogs early . I missed first 7 changed frogs and nailed 5 in a row? Richard wanted to try shakey head worms. Nailed another 20 or so. I dropped shotted some wormed some. After 8 hours of fishing we had 40 nice fish biggest being a 6 pounder Rich nailed. Had dinner went back out in Richs boat and I nailed a 6 on a seinko. Friday we used the golf clicker and caught bigger average fish on jigs and had 44 exactly. Not counting the missed ones . WOW what a great fishery. Mr England you are a very good guide and I would recommend you to anyone at any skill level. I have bass fished for 25 years and really enjoyed you putting you hand in there mouth saving my thumbs.Friday Rich and I had to use our own thrumbs. OUCH.

Report: Launched at 7AM and it was dead calm. Started cathching fish right away in the Konocti area on kreature baits and jigs. My brother-in-law was using a brown & black jig with a full size pumpkin colored brush hog as a trailer and he was killing um!! I was amazed! The rig was probably 8 to 10" long. As the day wore on, the Brush Hog rig slowed down, and the Texas rigged kreature bait picked up. The color on the kreature was also pumpkin colored. We stayed south of Konocti all day and end up with a total of 36 fish from 1 -4 lbs. All in all, a great day on the water!!
    City: Santa Rosa

Tips: All of our fish were caught tight at the edge of the pencil grass and under docks with a lot of shade. Only caught one fish on a crank bait but I did'nt stick with it because of the plastic action.

Report: Fished from 5/17 to 5/20. Basically threw a frog all weekend. They were crushing it. There were fish in every weed mat I threw in. Caught a couple of 6's, and a couple of 4's. All the rest were 2's and 3's. Only hooked about 10% of the bites....That froggin is hard. When I wasn't throwin a frog I put on the trusty old speed trap. Caught a lot off of points. On one point I lost 2 fish back to back that were easily over 6 pounds. It pissed me off.
    City: San Jose/Clearlake Oaks

Tips: If you see a weed mat, throw a frog...It doesn't matter what time of day, or how thick the mat is. And there's lot of post spawn fish about 15 feet off of the tullies. Throw a spinnerbait or senko for thoughs guys.

Report: What started out as a birthday tubing trip on Lake Mendocino for my 14 yr old son into a fishing trip to Clear Lake when Momma decided Saturday night to stay out of the forcasted wind and boy did THAT work out nice! We hit the water at 5:00 am and headed to the point between Land's End and the casino for some topwater action before the wind came and it did not dissapoint. We threw spooks for a while and my boy banged a 3 after we watched a tourney blast off from the casino and held on through the waves that pounded us as they flew by (maybe a little more than spittin' distance away next time to the guy in the white & blue Basscat...eh fella?)and then I made one of those decisions that just make your day. I tied on a black & yellow frog and the fun began! I started getting blowup after blowup and had a blast for about 45 min until the sun hit and that was it....for now. We caught a few fish after that on dropshot and Senkos but we decided to head to Quercus Pt and try some plastics. We had a few there but not what I thought so we headed to Corinthian Bay and fished dropshot and senko rigs there and in the slough next to it and caught 10-15 fish up to 3 lbs in there mainly on senkos up tight against wood and walls. By this time it was about 10:00 am and we thought we might head up into Lakeport and try a few docks I knew would have fish this time of year since we were just trying to have fun. Man o' man when we came out of that slough by long tule point I knew we had better button everything down, including our kidneys, because Mr wind had came to play.

When we saw the wind and the direction it was blowing I knew the spot I wanted to go would be blown out so we headed to a little pocket out of the wind by the trailer park in S.Lakeport and me and my son had the best day we have had together in long time. There were little grass pockets all over so I picked up my little froggy and went to work. The fish were tight against the bank under the grass and I got 25-30 blowups (landed 13-15) on a stretch of bank about 40 yds long. Nothing big, up to 3 1/2- 4 lbs but man what fun!

While I was doing this, my son was pitching 5" senkos in every color I had to the edges of the grass and all of a sudden his stick went hot! He caught fish after fish, again up to about 3 1/2 lbs, until I ran out of 5" Senkos. So I gave him my 6" senkos and it didn't seem to matter because they just kept biting. The wind on the main lake was howling, I could see the tournament guys taking a pounding runnig and gunning and here we sat all by ourselves pounding fish after fish! My hands got tired from chucking my frog and my boy was using what was left of my Senkos so I put on a Zoom brush hog in watermelon W/blue flake weightless like a Senko and pitched it to a shade pocket in about 1 ft of water and it looked like someone flushed the commode! It turned out to be the biggest fish of the day, 5 lbs, just before we decided to leave around 2:30.

If this had been a normal day fishing I would have ranked it one of the top 10 days I have had number wise but doing it with my boy on his birthday fishing trip made it my best day fishing ever!
    City: Ukiah

Tips: Senkos, Senkos, and when you tired of that....TOO BAD!throw more Senkos! The frog bite surprised me but was a lot of fun this early in the year. I mainly used the Margarita Mut #2 and the Mavrick shop special #1 from Tackle-it for drop-shotting but it did not compare to the Senko bite. Fish were pretty tight in 1-4 ft of water and the frog worked real well when pitched over grass pockets up against the bank. Oh, by the way, did I mention the Senko bite was pretty good?

Report: The wife and I fished for about 7 hours today and took 27 fish total. Holy cow was it windy. The best fish we caught today was a 4-8, however the wife had a decent fish (probably 6+) come unbuttoned at the boat. We primarily fished wherever we could get some shelter from the wind. We found fish everywhere we stopped, however, all the areas I had planned to fish today were wiped out by the wind so we had to adjust and it turned out OK. Our best 5 today went just over 14lbs, definitely not great but we had fun.
