Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished 100% WRL team tourney today with my 7 year old daughter as my partner. 90 boats and we got top 40. Will know for sure what place when the web site posts it. 17.65lbs in the most wind blown day I have been on. We subbed the boat twice, the second time blowing the fish finder off the bow. My daughter Michaela is a trooper. She was scared but didnt cry and caught fish. drop shot was our cofidnence and we stuck with that mainly. biggest was 4.75.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: rent a subMarine Bass boat on windy Clear Lake days, or bring a surf board.

Report: Took my 3 year old daughter with me for 3 days of Clear Lake bassin, took my friend Terry that lives in Clear Lake that basically can not move his legs from diabetes but that was not a problem, he was still able to catch a few of them buckets mouths, we got 11 fish in 5 hrs of fishing on Friday and than on Saturday just my daughter and I fished and got 25 bass to 3.5 lbs, we could not fish out of Red Bud area because my batteries were shot in my trolling motor and it was a huricane on Sat & Sun, Sunday the byte died for me but still got 3 fish to 3.5 lbs in about 4 hrs of fishing, I know if my batteries were good I could have fished my open water rock piles and deep docks but the wind and batteries would not let me. Spoke to a guy fishing 100% future pro tour and he had 23 lbs at 1:00 PM at Sunday, I watched him flip a black/brown jig for a 3.5 lb bass.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Margareta Mutalator 4.5 or 6 inch or anything purple, brown or purple brown. I was using shakey head 1/4 oz but texas rig would work also because the kids at the camp site were killing them with a Zoom 8 in ribbon tail grape worm texas rigged. As the sun set on Sat I threw brush hogs, 8 inch worms and jigs and got fish on many different colors. If you buy a new 71 lb thrust 24V trolling motor don't be a tard like me and use your old batteries, buy new batteries!

Report: Fished north in and near Rodman on Saturday. Three of us took 15+ fish 1-3.5 #s against wind blown tulies. Sunday fished south channel. Two of us took 20 1-3 #s again. Two toads came off after we got a peak at them. Most of the fish were caught very tight to the shore.

Tips: Black and blue senko's wacky, grenn zipper worms and sweet beavers, brown and purple jigs in 2-5 ft of water.

Report: Thanks to Larry and everyone for posting Clear Lake reports. I learn a lot!

Wind Saturday (and for sure Sunday!) kept me off the lake, plus this was a "chores" weekend at the place to get ready for the 3 day weekend. So I didn't launch the boat and fished a little off the dock in a small cove on the Clearlake arm of the lake.

I always catch some fish there, mostly 2 or 3's. Saturday was really good. Lots of fish on Senko's and Drop Shot all day. I hooked into some 4's, and some 5's (weighed not guessed) then mid day I got a new PB with a 8.1 fish that worked me hard on really light tackle.

Sunday the bite was totally different. As in zero in the same spot. Maybe the fish swam out of the cove? Maybe it was the weather or tourney fishing pressure? I did some more work and fished some and had zero fish. But that 8.1 was big fun!
    City: Oakland/Clearlake

Tips: I was fishing from a dock, so you know I was casting out into the cove, right where the boats coming in would be. They were casting right against the wall, but I always find the bigger fish in that spot are in towards the middle.

I was using a Stand Out drop shot hook for the first time, it seemed to work well. I also used a weedless finesse hook. I like them since I can wacky rig it and toss it with not much worry.

My drop shot rig has Berkeley Fireline Crystal 10 lb test (size of 4lb mono) with about 10 feet of 8lb fluorocarbon tied on as a leader with a uni to uni knot. The big fish was caught on either a Margarita Mutilator or a Salt River Craw Roboworm I don't remember. I was using both all day rigged both wacky and regular.

Report: Clear Lake dished out some punishment today, but we fought back. We arrived at the ramp at 5:00am and the wind was howling and waves made the launch a mess. We soaked our selves in a 5 minute run to 4 walls only to see that it was not to the place to be today. We decided that we would run across the lake and get out of the wind to try and get some fishing in..........bad idea, as we got even more soaked. We did manage to find a cove to get out of the wind and began the day of one fish after another! We put over 25 in the boat on jigs and Senkos while trying to keep the boat in one place. Another fantastic day at Clear Lake and on the way home by 11:30 with wind and waves making life tough. We had a great time and caught quality fish again today.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: Fish had moved out with the weather change and we sitting on the grass lines waiting for a meal. Pull through the grass and hang on! Tight Lines! Color did not seem to matter, green pumpkin, brown, dirty sanchez and purple all worked well as usual.

Report: I decided to spend my birthday with my neighbor John, fishing..........even though I wuold have rather been working a 10 hour shift at work! We started out at 5:30am in Rattlesnake arm and caught fish near 4 walls for about 2 hours. The "Hemphill Special" was on fire as we proceeded to move to the main point by the windmill and continue what we had already started. We fished the lower end of the lake until 11:30am with about 35 fish in the boat and the wind starting up so we headed home. We met another angler at the ramp who stated he had the same great day we had with over 40 in the boat! We also met "Big George" and his partner who gave us a leech that was also very productive.....Thanks George!

Report: HERE IS A TIP FOR YOU IF YOU WANT TO BREAK THE 20LB MARK START USING BIGGER BAITS. FOR THE MOST PART YOU TEND TO CATCH SMALLER FISH ON A DROP SHOT, SHAKEY HEAD,ECT.THOSE ARE THE BAITS THAT YOU SHOULD GO TO WHEN ITS THE END OF A TOURNY DAY AND YOU NEED TO FILL A LIMIT.IF YOU WANT TO CATCH BIGGER FISH TRY COMING OFF YOUR SPOTS A LITTLE FARTHER AND FISHING DEEPER WATER MAYBE SOME SUBMERGED ROCK PILES THROW A JIG OR A CRAINKBAIT AS IT STARTS TO GET A LITTLE HOTTER.AS FOR THE SENKO IT CAN CATCH REALLY BIG FISH BUT IF IT MOSTLY PRODUCING SMALLER FISH IN ONE SPOT TRY SOMTHING ELSE, DONT BE AFRAID TO PUT ON SOMTHING ELSE. YOU PROBOBLY ARE FISHING WITH THE DROP SHOT AND SENKO BECAUSE IT IS CATCHING MORE FISH FASTER BUT IF YOU SLOW DOWN YOU ARE GOING TO CATCH NOT AS MANY FISH FOR THE MOST PART BUT BIGGER FISH.-DAN

    Tips: GOOD LUCK!!!

Report: One word today: WIND. I don't know who it was but someone forgot to shut that big fan off up in Lakeport, man ohh man. Even with the wind I did great. I caught just over 30 fish with my largest being a 6-3 landed behind Anderson Island. I also took a nice 4-14 out of the wind behind Buckingham Point. All of my fish today were taken on the shakey head worm, I used a watermelon colored worm on a 3/8 shakey head. Very aggressive bites just slowly dragging the worm across the bottom with some pauses mixed in. The wind certainly limited my choices and ended up cutting my day short. I did fish Glenhaven for awhile and caught several fish, however the wind made it just about impossible to keep the boat positioned. Most of the fish I caught were taken right outside the marina and all along Anderson and Dollar Islands.

Report: Had a good day today. Caught about 25-30 fish.Between 2 of us. Most fish came on brown and black jigs. Also caught a few on rip baits, shakey head, and topwater. caught 2 fish near 5 pounds. Had 3 nice fish come off. 1 jumped and threw my swimbait. She was around 8-9 pounds. I got a pretty good look at her as she broke my heart. Lost 2 other nice fish on jigs. Set the hook on one and it immediately starts pulling drag and goes deep for a dock piling. I couldn't even slow it down as it wrapped me up in the dock and shook off. Had a great day but losing a few nice ones really eats at ya.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Fished mostly south end Jago Bay,Monitor Island, Etc. Jigs were the ticket for us as far as consistency.

Report: Ran into Larry in AM waiting for his clients. Headed out to the narrows. Had one of my better days at Clear lake. Found success on green pumpkin tubes in the clearer water near mid-lake. Brown tubes better in the south end where the algae bloom was denser. Caught a few fish on Senkos but didn't have the "right" color. Picked up a 7.7 on swimbait and had one other follow. Otherwise, not much action on the swimbait. Managed several in the 3.5-4 range and broke off another that felt big but never got a look.

Water Temp: up to 70, final

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I set a new record today for my guide service - clients over 2 hours late - at least they finally made it - all three of them! I fished around the Oaks ramp for a bit while I was waiting and got 5 in the boat and dumped a 5 or 6 pounder. One on a Rodstrainer jig and the others on 6" #301 Senkos. When they arrived we worked down the hwy 20 side of Rattlesnake and found excellent fishing in select places. 2 1/4 to 4 1/4 lb bass, one after the other. Amazing. I suggested that one of the clients use a #221 Senko. That keep him busy the rest of the trip - he loved it and so did the bass!! I think I need to replenish my stash of 221's!! I used another favorite that usually works well in the algae bloom - #222. Well, one good idea and one bad - one bass only on #222. Back to #301 for me. I had one of the other clients using the green pumpkin Dead Ringer and he also did very well, especially since he doesn't bass fish much. Angler #3 did his own thing the whole 6 1/2 hours. This "things" didn't work very well and he only caught 2 I think. One of the guys did throw swimbaits a lot but no takers. He did catch a few on his small plastic craw, but as is often the case with those baits, the hooks are too small. He lost several including a nice 5 lb+ bass at the first place we stopped. A beautiful day finally at Clear Lake temperature-wise and wind-wise! We landed 36 bass in 6 1/2 hours plus my earlier 5 for a total of 41. We had a nice limit at 22 lbs after catching a 4 3/4 and a 5 - fishing Senkos down to 20 feet, south of Shag Rock! Those were caught around 2 pm. We stopped at Sea Breeze on the way in and saw several nice bass suspended under docks. Another spawn about to happen?
    City: Yuba City

Tips: After an amazing spring weather-wise and monster bass-wise, today seemed almost back to normal. Bass gradually getting smaller, post-spawn sores on their bodies, and Clear Lake quickly becoming Green Lake. I think Senkos really shine this time of year and they certainly did today. I was surprised that we didn't get many Senko bass under docks. We caught most of the Senko bass on rocky bottoms - 6 to 14 feet deep. The lake get more clear as one gets to the narrows and around into Horseshoe Bay. That probably will change soon. Did not try any topwater today.

Report: Beatiful day. little wind, flat glass water for the most part. Algae is blooming bigtime. At spots there was currents of algae. Best 5 by 3oclock was about 20lbs, with biggest almost 5. Swimbait, drop shot, SwimSenko, and a couple on a crank bait including a Crappie.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Where it was clear and I could see fish/they could see me the, bite was slow. In algae water with little visiblity caught most of the fish.

Report: Fished the south end a little on both Sat and Sunday. Didn't sink the boat with big fish, but did ok. They were caught on Lucky Craft Ghost Tennessee Shad rip bait and dropshot with Margarita Mutilator, and Morning Dawn colors. The MD color worked well at dusk.

Best was a weighed 5.6, got another close to 5 out from the docks in Oak Cove. Sunday got a late start on the water and fished in really gusty winds blowing from the valley, so I fished docks on the east side of the lake then I ended up near Brown's Landing, the "88" rock, and Indian Island and the mouth of Cache Creek, got a few fish at each place and did ok for mid day.

I've only been able to get out a few times this year, the 5.6 is a BOTY (best of the year) so far

I wanted to do a little fly fishing, but it was too windy for me!
    City: Clearlake/Oakland

Tips: In Cache Creek I rigged dropshot hooks with weed guards, still snagged a few times, but I think it worked ok.

    Water Temp: 60-63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I had a very nice trip Sat with one experienced angler and one new to bass fishing. He was the "back-seater" and landed 9 bass and missed several. I think he found his confidence! He loves those green pumpkin brushhogs!! The fellow in the middle caught several and landed the two biggest of the day around 11 am on back to back casts using a 6" #297 Senko. One of the bass was around 4 1/2 lbs and the other at 5 1/2. We tried to say out of the way of the Future Pro guys as we ran around a lot and looked and fished a lot of areas. We fished the Rattlesnake arm and the lower lake. We wound up with 26 1/2 fish (the 1/2 being a big crappie on a crankbait!) and a limit of near 21 lbs.
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Can't speak for the north end but down south there are still some spawners and maybe more to come with the warm weather in store this week. Many bass however have already moved off-shore as we found several in the 8 to 18 foot range. Some are already on summer and fall rocky haunts and more will join them as the weeks progress. I enjoyed showing my clients several great ledges and off-shore structure - I really love doing that! Their eyes open wide as they see a whole new world of off-shore fishing possibilities as the summer begins. Once the spawn is over, bass fishing become a little more like work - gotta find 'em - they can be anywhere. But that is part of the fun of year-round bassin' - each season offers its own challenges!!

Report: Me and my stepson Chase started late at 4:30 PM to avoid the stiff north wind that had been blowing all day. We left out of Redbud and headed for some rock points around Konocti. Started catching fish right away dragging 4 inch watermelon tubes through the rocks from 2ft to 12ft of water. Most of these were in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lb. range. Tried throwing 5 inch swimming Senko (watermelon/goldflake) around rocks with tules and began to catch better fish. Just before dark we moved Anderson Island area and went back to dragging tubes in 7 to 15ft. of water. Caught a couple in the 4lb range and then at 8:45 Chase hooked a big one. He caught it on some kind of spinner jig he rigged up in about 15ft. of water. He started screaming like a sissy la -la get the net! He fought the thing for what seemed like forever and when he finally landed it, it went 10.96 on the scales. It was the biggest bass he's ever caught and needles to say marked the end of a memorable day.
    City: loma rica

Tips: Had best luck fishing tubes and swimming senkos in 2 to 15ft. Fishing slowly worked best for us.

    Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I fished Saturday from about 8AM to 7PM. I found the bite to still be great and landed 33 fish with my best 5 coming in at just about 17lbs. I also had at least a dozen or so fish become unbuttoned so I really had consisten action all day. I used a variety of baits including the shakey head worm, drop shot, spinnerbait and LV 500, I took fish on every one of these baits with the majority of my fish being caught on the shakey head. The areas I fished included Buckingham Point, Glenhaven, Anderson Island, Shag Rock, Horseshoe and Soda Springs Islands. The only places I did not get bit were Shag and Soda Springs. The water is starting to stain up a bit with more and more algae blooms evident.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: Fish your strength. Right now the fish are very active and respond well to a variety of presentations. Fish what you have the most confidence with and you should catch fish.
