Report: Helam, i will be fishing tomarrow near Koncti, 4-20-07. Come on out and we will help you catch some cows. They are not fish tales. If the weather is good tomarrow, i bet we land atleast 30 apiece - no joke.
    City: Clear Lake Oaks

Tips: Salt n Pepper, Green Pumpkin with black, purple, or red flake. I like using the Kreature and my b inlaw like the brush hogs while fishing in the cover. Drop Shot off the bank about 30-40 feet in 10 to 14 ft of water. Hope his helps.

Report: Started fishing aprox. 1100 AM, north of Konachti Harbor with my Brother Inlaw. Bass are very active. Caught about 20 Bass a piece between 11am and 3 pm. Brush Hogs, 6" worms, and drop shotting. I caught a 6.75 drop shoting a salt n pepper 2" tube bait. Go figure. Caught mostly males. Females are off the shore, looks like they haven't spawned yet. These fish are very active today, incredible. Weather is starting to suck., some females. Good healthy fish averaging about 2.5-3 lbs each.

Report: Fished friday before the last cold front came in and the bite was tough. I still managed to boat some good fish, but the bite was really not what I was expecting. I started out throwing a Basstrix paddle tube and...nothing. I got one good bite but the fish didn't eat the bait. Then I started throwing the blade...nothing. Finally I fell to my knees and took out the dropshot rod and got the first 2-1/2 lber in the boat. Then after 5 or 6 fish I realized I was onto something. I was just amazed how far back one night of cold weather moved them off. But I guess its the same as a couple days of nice weather moving them up. If it wasn't purple, they wouldn't touch it. I caught fish on a 5" green pumpkin Yamasenko also, but most all of my fish came dropshotting folkstad special or MM3 in 10-12 feet of water. Just because Nice is shallow doesn't mean there's no bass there! I notice alot of you guys fish rattlesnake and jago and the south end. Come up north, it's like two different lakes. It's like the difference between Oroville and the Thermalito after bay. I did not SEE any fish!! All of the senko fish I caught were off of isolated tule patches in 3 to 5 feet of water and the water was clear, I still couldn't see any fish. If things get tough, dropshot, it may be called the quitters rig, but hey, it catches em' when nothing else will. Go fishing. There are still a billion bass to be caught but you gotta find and figure, then boat your fish. See ya on the lake.
    City: Upper Lake

Tips: Drop shot the pea gravel and the tules in between docks real slow w/ different purple variations. Blind cast senkos to isolated tule patches. Remember all the 4 pounders you see cruisin and chillin under docks can see you crystal clearly.

Report: Not much to report from last weeks trip. I was up for a week, but pulled the boat after the wind picked up Wednesday, didn't want to fish in the rain the rest of the week.

I had my friend Jesse up for fishing late Monday and Tuesday morning. We tried to fish the upper part of the lake around the tules on Monday but there were lots of boats on the spots we were looking at. We didn't want to crowd in, so we moved south.

We got our fish on dropshot rigs with Margarita Mutilator and Morning Dawn and Prism Shad Roboworms and a size 1 dropshot hook. Late in the day (6:30 to 8pm) we fished the docks on the south side of Bayliss Point and did well farther out. The fish were caught from near the end of the docks.

Tuesday we fished in Konocti Bay and did ok trying to fight the wind. Later it really came up and we were done!

The foot switch on my MotorGuide crapped out. I haven't even had it for a year! "Never Stop" eh? I ordered 2 to fix it and have an extra on board.
    City: Oakland/Clearlake

Tips: Drop shot is a good skill to have at Clear Lake! Fish a little farther out than you might think. I like to use a spinning rod with some Power Pro braid on the reel topped with about 15 feeet of Seaguar Fluorocarbon. It seemes to work well. I also tried using only Berkeley Firelene Crystal #10 "superline" to dropshot, that also worked. They say "the first translucent superline for near invisibility." Not sure about that, I could see it in the water, but I did catch fish with it.

Thanks to Larry for posting the reports!

Report: The water wasnt as clear as it had been 2 weeks ago. But, you could still see bedded fish 4 ft. down. I tossed a Char/White Rod Strainer spinner bait first thing around the county park, 4 fish in the boat, 2-3 lbrs. and as the wind died off from the morning, so did the bite. Went to the swim bait and started to pick up on that bite as the lake laid down. Lot's of fry already in the water. Caught another 5 fish in the 3-4 lb range.
    City: Petaluma

Tips: For you hog hunters, Tackle It in Lakeport is getting in some more Osprey Swimbaits this week. As the Spawn is over for some of the big Females their gonna want to eat !

    Water Temp: 57-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I fished today from 7AM until just after 4PM. Early in the day it was windy and quite cold fishing in the wind. My day started with a nice 5lb rip fish taken after my first few casts. Surprisingly that was it for rip fish for me for the day. The conditons were quite brutal, did I mention the wind and cold? After the first rip fish I picked up the shakey head worm and went to town. I am addicted to this bait. I proceeded to catch 10 more fish over the next 45 minutes casting the shakey head into the teeth of the wind, the fish were stacked up tight and I had no issues catching them until I was too cold to and needed to seek shelter from the wind. I proceeded to head south and spent my day catching fish on the shakey head...the bite isn't quite as hot as it was two weeks ago, but I had no issues finding fish. Total for the day was 33 fish with my best 5 coming in just over 21lbs. Today I fished Buckingha, Glenhaven, Monitor Island (big rollers had to seek shelter behind the island), Boatworks and Baylis point.
After 3PM or so the wind died completely and did the bite.
    City: Petaluma, CA

Tips: Don't be afraid of the wind, use it to your advantage, the fish are still there for the most part.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The bite was slow. This was my second time out in the past couple weeks. One day I got 8 total with the largest at 3lbs. Last Friday I caught
a total of 4 with the biggest 2 lbs. I tried the swim bait thing until I was blue in the face
and did'nt even get a strike. I through it hundreds of times.
The only thing that produced any fish for me was
    a purple senko weightless.
I'm no tournament quality fisherman. However I've been at it since I was 12 years old. I'm 50 now. I certainly am a decent bass fisherman.
I know what I'm doing. I honestly don't believe the reports I read in this column about people taking 30 - 40 - 50 fish in a day. In my humble opinion, it's Fish Tales.
I've spent DOZENS of 10 hour days on the lake throwing everything but the kitchen sink. The biggest one I've caught was a 5 pounder. The most fish I've boated in a day is less than 10.
I have a house over in Kelseyville 3 miles from Konocti. Maybe it's just a slower bite on that side of the lake. You tell me!

Report: Belated report here. Fished the 12th with a friend from Red Bluff in his boat, a great little Viper. Got 17 that day and 14 the next. Day one on the north end and day 2 on the south. Big fish on day one remains a mystery as my friend's scale only went to 10 lbs. Monster fish for me, my biggest ever. The scale would click over 10 lbs with a substantial portion of the tail still on the deck. We should have taken it over to Bob's and had him weigh it but we revived it and slipped it back in on the spot. Big fish on day 2 was 5-10. Senkos in the tules were primary but got good action on swim baits and jerks as well. We have Larry booked for May 5 and I want him to fish with us as much as possible. He is so generous with his information just on his posts and I can't wait to see him in action and learn all I can. I hope he keeps doin' what he's doin'.

    Water Temp: 64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I was hoping to show a fellow from Washington state why Clear Lake was the best in the nation. This was his first visit to the lake. Well, he was having dinner Friday evening at the casino and got serious food poisoning. He only had one hour sleep but still met me at 6:45 am at Clearlake Oaks Sat. morning to see if he could give it a go. Man , I felt sorry for him! He was in agony! Well, he did make it for the 8 hours and caught 8 or 9 up to 5 lbs. We had lots of 4's and 19 bass total. And five best at 21 1/2 lbs. I am certainly glad he didn't make the trip for nothing!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: Because of his condition we couldn't really go far. We stuck around Rattlesnake Island and a little on the west shore of the Rattlesnake arm. I really had good areas to fish in mind but we couldn't travel since there were some small swells of the lake. We used 6" Robo worms, brush hogs, and lizards (in green and brown shades) - throwning in scattered tulle berms and up again the shore. All bass were 3 to 10 feet. The very cold morning (35 degrees) didn't seem to hurt the bite.

    Water Temp: 59-61

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I fished on Saturday and Sunday. The bite is still very, very good and I had no trouble catching fish on either day. On Saturday I caught 39 fish using a rip bait and a shakey head worm. The largest fish was a 7-1 beauty that fell for the shakey head worm. My best 5 on Saturday went just over 21 lbs. I focused on Buckingham, below Shag Rock and over to Glenhaven. On Sunday I fished for about 3 hours and took 19 fish, my best 5 went just about 16 lbs, no big fish to speak of, however I did catch at least one fish at EVERY stop I made. Sunday I fished at Buckingham, Anderson Island, Dollar Island, Horseshoe and Little Quercus. The lake is still very clear, however that will change soon as I'm starting to see more and more algae blooms sprouting up around the lake.
    City: Petaluma, CA

Tips: Lucky Craft Pointer 128 American Shad Pattern rip bait. This works well in low light conditions.

Shakey head worm 1/4 and 3/8 oz and just about any color worm.
