Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished yesterday for about 5 hours and had decent results. It seems that with the exception of blades(ultra clear water) these fish will eat anything that you throw in the water. Senkos, brush hogs, dartheads, you name it. As long as it looks remotely like a crawfish or a minnow, they'll eat it. I, however, have not found much success with larger swimbaits. This year, I was hoping to boat a double digit, and the conditions sure are right, but, I think that the pressure, and seeing an 8" osprey slow-roller everyday for like a month and a half will do that to these bass. Believe me, 4 pounders will follow swimbaits back 5 or 6 at a time, but they do not seem to be committing, I even experimented with different retrieve speeds. I think that the key to it is that you have to find spots that aren't totally obvious, because you know the obvious ones have been hammered a thousand times before you got there. I have found success fishing spots that don't look as good to the anglers as they do the bass. One advantage to this ultra clear water is that you can locate spots that you normally cannot see (i.e brush piles, rocks)he he he he. And just because it doesn't look good to the angler doesn't mean the bass won't make it there living room!!! The lake is low, and that just makes for deeper spawning opportunities for the bass. Go fishing folks, it will not be good for long. Once the biggins get locked on, it may not be SLUGFEST 2007 anymore!!! Y'all need to get out there and experience CL at its best. It is not every year that you can see the BOTTOM OF THE LAKE!!!!! and not to mention piggies swimming everywhere HE HE HE HE!!! Go fishing and I'll see ya out there!!!
City: Upper LakeTips: Throw watcha got, you don't need to go to the pro shops and spend $3,000 on brand new shiny swimbaits. With all the pressure that this lake has seen, you'd be better off fishing dead-ass slow with a worm or jig to catch a quality sack. If it gets much warmer than this, summer will be longer that ya think. SEE YA'

Report: Fished Friday and Saturday in North end. On Friday, great bite with bass to 4 lbs. near shore in the tullies. I couldn't get the fish under the docks to bite. Fish were visible, shallow and hitting plastics: jigs, brush hogs, shakey head rig, lizards, etc. On Saturday, things changed. All my bass (2 to 3.5 lbs) were in 8 to 12 feet deep and hitting only lizards and shakey head rig with MM worm. Didn't see one shallow fish on Saturday - probably from the pressure of the third day of the four day the Bassmasters Tournament.
City: NovatoTips: When you find one fish, stay awhile before moving.

Report: THE BASS ARE ON FIRE!!!! I participated in the BASS Elite Series tournament this week. Haven't fished the lake in a few months. Big mamas everywhere looking for suiters. Some already on beds. Split shotting, drop shotting and ripping were my tickets to success. However, it was the ticket for everyone else as well. I went out just on the bubble after Friday's weigh in. Most of the pros caught their "biggons" on mostly swim baits and split shotted baits. The next warm spell may lock all the big mamas down on beds. Right now most are still fattening up. Get to the lake quick!!!!
City: VenturaTips: THROW EVERYTHING!!!!!

Report: I took a boyfriend and girfriend to Clear Lake today to see if we could catch bass and stay out of the way of tournament boats at the same time! I think we did it! She had never bass fished before and she may well be in a tournament next year!! She missed her first bite and then landed the next 5 bites for around 14 lbs! Biggest was 4 lbs 3 oz (photo section). She really is a natural!! He also caught his personal best at 5 1/2 lbs. We had 19 bass total and a five best at 22 lbs. Fun day!
City: Yuba CityTips: I guess I better say no more because of the tournament! My lips are sealed!!!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished last Saturday and didn"t do as well as last weekends reports. Actually i was quite dissapointed. Lanuched at
7a.m. at Lucerne,in 5 minutes I was fishing. Last weekend the friend I was fishing with said he could see 10 pounders chasing his bait at the same place we started. Fished that 300 yard area till noon with very limited results- 2 fish-both around 2 pounds.Uh! We then made the move across the lake to State Park. WOW! Saw tons of fish up to about 6 pounds. But, when you saw them, they saw you and just swam away. We deceided to stay anyway, it looked a lot more promising than our previous spot.Within about 3 and a half hours we caught around a dozen fish- largest was a 2lb. 13oz. Tried a few more "ROCK" spots and caught a few little ones. Off the water at 4p.m. Talked to several boats at the launch ramp and they had similar results. However after we got back to the house and talked to some "Local" fisherman they sang a different tune. 25-50fish in 6-8 hours up to 12lb.1oz.( Awesome fish)The wind kicked up over night, so Sunday morning we headed home. Maybe better luck next time........
City: ANTELOPETips: Talk to someone that had better success... I did the same old thing........

Water Temp: 61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Whew, the wind was blowing, so most of the boat sheltered in the Oaks. Started throwing rip baits and spinnerbaits. No takers. Finally found some fairly clean water, and threw MM worms, both 6 inch and fat 4 inch. Caught a few small ones, and then I got snagged. Went over to try to free it, and it started moving and bending my pole!! 5 lb 2 oz piggie. We ended the day with about a 17 to 18 pound bag. Not bad for being limited in area.
City: SacramentoTips: They loved the mutilator.

Water Temp: 61.5

Report: My son and I was fishing clear lake oaks and we caught alot fish 4-10.1 all on black and blue 5/16 oz jigs with rattle, in 1-5 ft of water. The big fish came at about 1:30 pm.
Tips: repeated cast in same place and slow down.

Water Temp: 58-60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I did a 6 hour trip for a client from 9 pm to 3 this morning (Sun). As I was driving over I saw 10 bass boats heading east after their day on the water. I sure hoped they left us some! They did!! I would like to report that we boated 45 to 50 in the 6 hours, but the poor guy had all kinds of rod/reel/line problems. He broke off his 12 lb test 2 or 3 times on fish. Finally I told him to use my Loomis 844 GLX with my Shimano Cronarch 50 reel. I was lucky to get it back!! He started sticking bass left and right! So, we did wind up with 31 in the boat and a 24 1/4 lb limit. Could not catch one bigger than 6 lbs 2 oz, but lots from 4 to 5 1/2 lbs. We spent our time in the Rattlesnake arm whereever we could tuck in from the increasingly heavy wind. I would have to say the night bite is on too!
City: Yuba CityTips: We caught most of our bass on Power and brush hogs - red/black and blue/black, along with some kind of lizard that he was using. That lizard was very effective for numbers and one at 4 1/2 lbs. The bite was great when we started and was fairly good the whole time. At the evening got cooler and more windy, it slowed down some. Most of our fish were tight to the shallow tules or 5 to 10 feet off the bank. As the evening wore on, we started catching bass a little deeper. He caught a few dragging his lizard behind the boat. This was his first night trip and first time using a black light. Naturally - he loved both!!!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I was on the water by 7:30 and headed up north from clear lake oaks. I like fishing jigs sbut i started with jerk baits with only on follower and tried several other reaction type batis but no takers so I went with the jig and even that was tough until I figured them out then it was lights out. Boated well over 40 fish for the day and towards the end of the day I started throwing a lucky craft LVR red craw and in about 100 yard streach p/u a dozen or in about 45 minutes.
City: LincolnTips: jig real slow and dead stick it for about 30 seconds or so then drag a foot or so and shake a few times and then dead stick it again for at least 30-40 seconds. Feel the tick wait a couple real up any slack feel the load set the hook! Crank at moderate speed!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out on saturday and had a decent day on the water. Started about 1 p.m and finished at 7:30 p.m. Caught 20 or so fish on a variety of baits. The reaction thing really wasn't happening. All of the fish came on spot-removers tipped with a 6" ZOOM green pumpkin "swamp crawler", a 5" grn. pumpkin senko, flipping a little ZOOM crawdad bait, and also had my some of my biggest takers on a fluke. Everytime I pulled up to a dock there were schools of bass chillin' just under the surface. I didn't think that this would make them vulnerable to be caught, but I was wrong. As soon as I saw the fish,(numerous 3-1/2 to double digit!!) I would back off and pitch senkos and flukes under the docks. The fish were literally wolf packing the bait!! I had one over 7 fallow the senko back and actually eat the bait right at the boat, only problem was, I didn't get a hook in him. All of the young ladies out in the nice weather in their bikinis led to a little distraction LOL!! All in all I had a pretty good day and caught quality fish. I don't think I had a fish that was under 3 lbs.!! Go fishing, it is fairly good. Don't hesitate to pitch slow falling baits to the bass you visually locate under the docks. They will eat them!! Just don't get to close or you'll spook em'!! Saw a ton of boys rollin' in for the elite series on sunday. I met Takahiro Omori, Ben Matsubu, and Mark Tyler at North Shore Sentry Market where I work!! It was awesome!!! Anyways see y'all on the lake. I'm sure somebody will be on the lake to see all the big boys fishin for $200,000!! There will be some big fish caught!!!
City: Upper LakeTips: In low light conditions when you can't see bass under the docks,(i.e early morn. or evening) throw jigs and worms on the pea gravel in between the docks. The fish are picking the bait up very lightly but, If you can get onj em' you'll be happy. Go catch em'!!! The water is beautiful! I haven't seen the water in Clear Lake like this in a while. CRYSTAL CLEAR!!!

Water Temp: 58-67
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit Clear Lake yesterday hoping to experience some of the hot fishing everyone has been reporting. As luck would have it, we did ok, but no real crazy action. When the wind was calm we managed fish on shakey head rigs in and around dock pilings both up north and down in the Konocti arm. When the wind picked up, even just a little, we got them on any number of jerk baits. There was also a good crank bait bite going in between these conditions, but you had to get the crank down to the bottom.
My buddy missed three fish in a row on the crank. The last one was at least 4lbs. He couldn't get a good set. After a lot of reluctance on his part, I loaned him my Megabass fiberglass cranking rod and he didn't miss another one the rest of the day including a nice 4lber ot make up for the one he lost.
Dinks aside, we had maybe 15 or 16 fish in the 3-4lb range.
City: San MateTips: plastics when it's calm, reaction baits when the wind picks up a little.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My buddy and I fished Friday morning and afternoon in the Rattlesnake arm around docks and Jago Bay points. Caugh 15+ fish to 5 lb 12 oz, best five went 22 lb 9 oz including 3 fives and 2 3+s. Swim baits and River2Sea deep jerk bait caught the better fish. Carolina rig lizards and drop shot Robo worms also produced well but smaller fish.
City: ClearlakeTips: Bounce swim baits on the bottom. Get suspending jerk bait down quick, fish it slow, short jerks with lots of long pauses and a few ticks now and then, and hold on. Don't give up on jerk or swim bait near the boat. Several fish hit jerk right next to the boat when paused and ticked.
