Water Temp: 60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 7am til 4pm and did pretty good
We got 29 fish all around 3lbs and one 6lber. Caught most of them on plastics, texas rigged. We fished the North End and the state park area. It was cold out there and didnt' really warm up until about 2pm.
Also, I know you can rent aluminum fishing boats in Lakeport..can't remeber the name of the place but they do have boats that have trolling motors in the front ect...it will get you on the water.
It is right in downtown Lakeport on the main road you can't miss it

Report: I took two fellows for an instructional trip yesterday and the fishing was pretty good. I think the cold front slowed the big bass bite from the previous weekend. We could not break 3 1/2 lbs - couldn't believe it, but clients caught a lot of 'em and learned more about bass fishing. We didn't get to start until 8:30 (out of Lucerne) and the bite was already on. We broke two off - one right away. They were fishing different color Robo worms and small brush hogs and I fished a jig with good results. I tried a Shakey head for the first time with a MMIII Robo and it worked great - lots of fun. The bite died about 1 pm bite but picked up again in the later afternoon around Rocky Point. A client broke off a second bass up there. While watching bass boats running all over the place, I guessed the bite might have been slower for everone after the weather change, but I could be wrong. We still had jackets on until noon - cloud cover didn't allow much warmth. The afternoon was beautiful and warmer however.
City: Yuba CityTips: Fishing the lake this time of the year during a warming trend will always produce the bigger bass - last weekend should forever prove that! I was out of the state last week and missed it all. Ah, timing is everything!! I felt the jig bite is worth the effort - the last few bass on Rodstrainer brown/orange jigs were nailed by the bass. Most bass were in the shade of docks during the afternoon. Couldn't catch much in open water.

Report: Put in at Lucern at 0700 and fished till 1830 hrs. We caught fish all day. We adveraged 2 fish per rod per hour. We could have caught a lot more fish but we threw swim baits most of the day which the fish were not biting. I had about 18 lbs on senkos,LV 500 and spinnerbaits.
City: Redwood ValleyTips: Ghost minnow LV 500 in the super clear water for fish up to 4 lbs.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: fished a for about 6 hrs. on Sunday in Nice, and saw A LOT of big fish (10+) Most all of the fish that I caught were on jigs and a small realistic crawfish bait on a darthead fishing dead slow. All of the bites are EXTREMELY hard to detect, but everytime you set the hook, it's atleast a 3-1/2 lb. fish. When the water got choppy, I went to a revenge blade or a ripbait and had plenty of action. Also, do not be afraid to try senkos. The fish will absolutley engulf senkos and small sweet beavers pitched into shallow cover, but mind you, all of the shallow fish that are easily caught are males. Your best bet for the big fish is fishing out from the bank over submerged grass and tules. These fish are eating like heck, but when fishing I'm sure you guys will realize that these fish are over pressured and I believe that they have learned the many subtleties of the difference between plastic and the real thing. Just think like the bass and try to use natural colors and be as realistic as possible on your lure selection. I got a lot of fallows on a 7" mission fish but no takers!! I had one about 8-1/2 follow the thing for atleast 40 feet. I could see the fish behind the bait, and it looked like a big submarine!!!! Just remember if you find a spot that you don't absolutely kill em' in, just stay a while because there are bound to be fish there. Pay attention to your line, and use as light of line and rod that you can get away with. It will help you feel the fish pick the bait up better. They are not hammering the bait!! The bite is very subtle. Take advantage of spots you can find that do not have twenty boats in them. Just because they don't look good to the fisherman, doesn't mean they don't look good from the bass' point of view. GO FISHING!! You will catch biggins, but you need to fish slow and methodical, unless you just get lucky and fish a vicious school of 6 pounders (GOOD LUCK!)
City: Upper LakeTips: Fish slow with a methodical presentation. The fish are eating, but finding them is your task!! See ya on the lake.. The water is clear and you'll be able to see a lot of big fish shallow. Never mind them, they are hard to catch, and there are plenty of others just like her about 30 feet behind you, just think like the bass and you will see the results!!!

Water Temp: 57
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Took the day off from work today and took my two sons ages 14 and 18 out for a day of fishing. Father's day came early for me today. We started rip baiting on wind blown shorelines and took 17 fish within the first hour and a half including a big bug eyed 6-9 taken by my eldest son. Today was the first time my youngest son tried rip bait fishing and after a few lessons from Dad he was sticking fish after fish. Once the wind died Dad switched to a shakey head worm and after the old man put 5 in a row in the boat my sons threated mutiny unless I showed them how to fish the shakey head worm. I commenced the lesson and it was on after that. I set the anchor off of a decent size tule bed and we caught fish after fish after fish. This was a completely different spot than the one I posted in my previous report. This lake is absolutely ON FIRE. Our tally at the end of the day went like this: Dad 33 fish, eldest son 31 fish, youngest son 27 fish - I kid you not 91 fish for three of us fishing for 6 hours today. Our best 5 went; 6-9, 4-12, 4-10, 4-8 and 3-12 for a total of 24-3.
City: PetalumaTips: Megabass Ito Vision 110 rip bait was the ticket today (they spurned Dad's bigger Pointer 128 today) Find the right cadence (today it was slow and steady) on a wind blown shoreline and you should do well. When the wind subsides find some tules and break out a shakey head worm. Last tip FISH THIS LAKE NOW, skip work, take a vacation day whatever, the bite is white hot.

Water Temp: 55-61
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished 4 days (Thursday-Sunday)two pre-fish and then the Holder Ford Tourney and had a great time. Got to the Lucerne ramp at 6:30 Thursday and after launching, found out my new starter I had just installed on my Merc didn't work so I loaded up and went back to Ukiah for additional repairs. Got back to Lucerne at 11:00 and after hitting the water I couldn't believe what I saw. I stopped to apply some sunscreen and happened to look down into a submerged tule patch and saw no less than 5 bass over 7 lbs swimming around like they were waiting for the dinner bell! From my position, I could see over 20 bass from 2 to 10 lbs and that was just the beginning.
Over the next 4 days, I saw so many huge fish that I still can't believe it. I started fishing and caught over 20 fish in 4+ hrs on Thursday with best 5 going about 23 lbs. They ate my swimbait...they ate my shakey head worm....they ate my ripbait...they even ate the cracker I dropped while eating lunch!
I went back Friday morning and tried the Lakeport side and and found pretty much the same thing...fish everywhere! I threw frogs in a slough at daylight and had 8 blowups in about 15 casts so I put THAT away. I threw a white 5" swimbait and hooked a 3.5 on about my 7th cast so I put THAT away too. I made a run to Horseshoe Bay and hit a tule line next to a dock with an L.C. Pointer 100 in the Hitch pattern and hooked a 5 and a 3 in 10 minutes so I put THAT in the ol' rod locker as well. So now, since I am prefishing for the weekend, I figure I will drag out a spot remover worm head and a Zoom trick worm and try to figure out a backup pattern in case the reaction bite died due to the pressure 130 boats put on a lake. I just wanted to find the depth the bigger fish were crusing in without "using up" my water and it didn't take long to find it. I threw in about 8 ft of water next to the dock I caught the ripbait fish from and felt the "tick" that I was waiting for. I set up and my 7 ft spinning rod buckled and my Shimano reel started screaming (at that point, I think I started screaming too)and the fight was on! She made a short run at the dock pole and then came flying out of the water just to mess with my head...SHE WAS HUGE! After I thought what a dumba$$ I was for not having my net ready, I somehow got it set up with one hand while holding on to my rod with the other. At this point, I was real happy I has just re-lined with P-Line CXX 12 lb since this fish kept rubbing the bottom trying to throw my shakey head. After an exciting 5 minutes I finally got her in the boat and weighed her at 8 lb 11 oz. What a blast on a spinning rod!
I caught so many fish between 2-8 lbs in 4 days I don't know if I could count that high even with my shoes off. While we didn't get the weight we needed for a top 20 finish in the tourney (I think I would have needed TNT and blasting caps for THAT much weight), I would be hard pressed to say we didn't have a blast getting our butts kicked. This lake is freakin' incredible!!!
City: UkiahTips: I think it would be easier to list what didn't work this weekend.....um....hell, EVERYTHING worked this weekend! These fish are on right now and I don't think it matters what you throw at them, they will eat it. Ripbaits in shaded dock areas...red worms on a darter or stand up jig head...of course 5-8 inch swimbaits will work for the next month. I caught fish dragging a splitshot worm around tules...I even caught fish on a 4 inch Senko wacky rigged under docks. I didn't go South of the narrows, this was all at the North end but I'm sure those fish are moving in down there too. Just go fishing and have fun. No telling when the lockjaw might show up and kill the bite. There were males on bed all over the place on Sunday so it won't be long until the "big mommas" will join them!

Report: Man oh man fishing.....the good, the bad and the ugly.
I had a real interesting day today.
First the good.
I started the day ripping 8 fish. Everywhere I stopped I connected on at least a fish or two or three. The lake is paticularly clear (I could see down upwards of 8'-10' in some areas) and with the lake dead calm I had a lot of follows, packs of fish, but none committed to the bait. Once the wind picked up this changed dramatically and that is when I finally got bit. I then hit a spot where I had a pack of fish follow the rip bait but again none committed. I decided to try out the shakey head worm....what a decision, for thee next three hours in little more than a 40 yard stretch of shoreline I caught and released 52 fish ranging in size from 1/2 lb to just over 4lbs. It was like I had died and gone to heaven....absolutely unreal. I fished until the wind picked up and my trolling motor died
Now the bad.
I pull up the trolling motor and say ahh what the hell let me make a few rips. I take one average fish then get a real nice hit, the fish jumps once and I see it's a decent fish probably a good 5 to 6lber. The fish jumps again shakes it's head and thows my bait
Now the ugly.
I leave the spot and head back to the marina. Bummed that I just lost the best fish of the day. I make one more stop in the wind and make a few last rips. On my second cast I get bit hard. The fish surfaces and I can see this is a BIG one. The fish jumps once and I see OHHH MAN IT'S A REAL BIG, LIKE PB, BIGGEST EVER FOR ME, ONE....I fight the fish carefully to the side of the boat (man I wish the trolling motor had juice so I could better position the boat), get the net and am just about to net the fish when she shakes her head once and spits the bait............I had a very good look at this fish and I'm fairly certain it was double digits, had to be at least 8, big, fat with a mouth as big as my head...damn.
Hard to believe I drove home from the lake "bummed" I only caught 60+ fish. (Best 5 went 16+)

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the lake around 10am with my buddy. We started at Lucerne and worked our way north. Found fish jerking a stacy around beaches and docks. As it warmed up, the fish would only hit the lure on the shady side of the docks. My buddy struggled and only had one bite doing this. I had 6 fish up to 3.5 lbs. Interestingly, about noon, I ventured into the shallows between two docks and see about a dozen bass from 1-3 lbs sunning themselves and half heartedly looking at my lure. I now began seeing fish everywhere I went in the shallows. Near rodman, my friend now found a new favorite lure, a splitshot 6" worm. He caught 9 keepers in 2 hrs just dragging it behind the boat on the bottom.
I tossed the swimbait about 100 casts and had not one hit. Everybody prefishing for the tournament the next day was throwing swimbaits. I remember as I am looking at tulies, that my nephew says, concentrate on tulies under the water. I pick it up again and fling it past some underwater tulies and bring it through and all hell breaks loose. I set into a nice 4.5 and felt better about my arms hurting. I had one more hit on it, seeing the fish race through the water and attack my bait. Exciting, but no hook up. by now it was 3pm and very warm. I was getting water temps around 60 degrees. We ended up w/21 fish and I gained some confidence in the northeast part of the lake.
City: Yuba CityTips: I could be wrong, but I bet reaction type stuff would be off the hook at first light. I talked to a guy dragging a big heavy carolina rig around that said he caught many, many fish. Sounds like it going on at this place. Tournament this weekend took 70 lbs to win! I wonder how Ripper and Doug did???

Report: Well, boyz, these fish are moving in!!! Yesterday, I got to one of my favorite spots in Nice and saw some amazing stuff!! In one tree I saw numerous 3-5 pound fish cruising bait and scanning the shallows looking for a place to lay those eggs (or atleast prepare to!!) I gaurantee that there are already fish that are spawning!! What is it MARCH?? The weather this year has been absolutely freak!! Last year was almost ideal with perfect water conditions, but a lot of rain!!! This year we are suffering from the lack of rain, but the fish are definitely reacting to this change in water temp!! The fish are 2 months ahead of what they were last year in march. The year is in fast forward, if it keeps going like this and doesn't rain our bass sanctuary will be a puddle!!! Anyways, look for shallow fish!!!!!!There will soon be biggins moving up!!
City: Upper LakeTips: Get your senkos out fellas, cause it's soon to be time!!! See ya on CL!!

Report: Oh yeah, about the report that I just posted, I was fishing with a huge brush hog using a dead slow retrieve. I did not specify in the report what i was fishing with so it seems to me that it would be a little confusing being that I said I never caught fish on a reaction bait. Anywho, now y'all know.
City: Upper LakeTips: Get yer butts out on that lake and catch the hell out of em'!! See ya'!!

Report: Launched at 5AM at Red Bud. 8 fish by 2, and then a fish every cast for the next hour or so. 50 plus or minus largemouths and a huge crappie. The fish are full to their stomachs.
City: SuisunTips: Look for them off the bank in deeper water. I threw everything until until I found what they wanted.

Water Temp: 50+
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: fished today and was very surprised by my results. I have been hearing about a killer swimbait/ripbait bite that's been going on. Yesterday I fished from 2:30 to 9:00 pm and caught 5 fish fishing dead ass slow!! All of my bites (about 7 or 8) were extremely hard to detect and I was barely moving the bait, like an inch every minute. The rip bait thing didn't produce for me at all, neither did a 7" mission fish or a river2sea. Don't know whats up with that.
City: Upper LakeTips: seems like everyone else is experiencing that killer reaction bite that everyones been talking about. What do you guys think about Krutcher!??!!! thats some heavy weight!! anyways catch em' on what you can. see ya on the water boys!!

Report: WOW. Took my son and his friend from college out today and we ripped 37 fish in about 3.5 hours. Our best 5 fish went 18-5, nothing huge with out biggest was just over 4 with many fish in the 3 to 4 lb range. I wish everyday was like this one. We found a spot where the bass had pinned several schools of shad and the action was just about non-stop. What a blast :) My thumb is ripped to shreds (pun intended) and 3 of my rip baits are missing paint and are covered with tooth marks:) I feel like calling in sick to work tommorrow just to hit up this spot again :)

Water Temp: 49-51
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Another great day for me. Launched at 9:30 and fished until 4:30. I caught 9 -quality- fish. My best 5 went: 5-6, 4-12, 3-9, 3-8, 3-2 for a total of 20-5. I also lost at least 5-6 other fish that either spit the hook or wrapped me around tules and escaped. I caught the majority of my fish using a shakey head worm, although I did take the 3-9 on spinnerbait. I fished mid-lake and north lake today.
Tips: Go fishing. The bite is great even with all the tournaments and other fishermen there's still PLENTY of room to fish and many fish to be caught.
