City: Upper LakeTips: Start out in the early morning with a slow presentation then work towards your reaction baits as the water temp warms. Good Luck!!

Report: Excuse Me? Why was my report about catching a Striper at Clear lake deleted?!?!?! I spent alot of time on writing that report and was very exicted. All I wanted to do was share my once in a life time expierience. You moderators are snobs, do you think I was making this up? Clear Lake is a BIG Lake and it is not too unbelievable folks. Wierd things have been caught out of Clear Lake before. I find this very disrecpectful. I caught a Striper at Clear Lake, face it!

Water Temp: 42-45
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Like the previous report, fish really slow. My Partner and I won the REBC club tourney on the 20th with 17.71 lbs. with a 4.96 kicker. We focused mainly on rocks and ledges dragging worms so slow it was almost like dead sticking. The bite was so soft, but if you didn't wait until the line moved to set you wouldn't hook the bass. Be patient and you will catch fish.
City: Santa RosaTips: The next Redwood Empire Bass Club Tournament will be February 24th at Berryessa out of Capell Cove. We welcome new members both boaters and non boaters to fish with us. Rich Thiel a well known guide will be speaking at our next meeting on Tuesday February 13th at 7p.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center on the corner of Rohnert Park Expressway and Snyder Lane. Log onto rebc.net or call me at 707-758.5762.

Water Temp: 40-43
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The Redwood Empire Bass Club held their January tournament this past Saturday and most teams found little or no bite. Out of 11 teams there was only 2 limits. Top weight was 17.71 lbs with a 4.92 kicker and 2nd place was 15.54 lbs. Most teams stayed on the south end after launching out of Redbud, but the big bag came from up north. I stayed around the narrows all day and my partner and I caught 9 keepers to 3.25 lbs for second place. Mostly caught on Yamamoto Hula Grubs and Robo Worms in 20'-25'.
City: Rohnert ParkTips: Fish VERY slow. Move the bait a couple of inches the pause, move a little more then pause. Stay in contact with the bottom and be patient. Browns and pumpkin colors worked the best. There was virtually no bite, just pressure as you crawl along the bottom. Try rip bait on the north end.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: When is this ice age over with?? Went out midday headed straight toi the pile off rat island....nothing, went to the narrows and dragged everything (real slow) including minnows...nothing.
Went to Konocti, worked off the rocky point in 20-30 foot just south of the resort and found 'em...got two on jigs with a friendly pig (blk/blk) both in the threes. Then got two beauts on minnows...one 6-12 and the other was 7 on the dot....called it a day and thawed out!!
City: eurekaTips: All my fish were close together, right before dark, and the two on jigs was slow rolled and shook the jigs when they were on pause (about a 30 second pause at that)....exytremely light takes!!

Water Temp: 45
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at about 11AM yesterday after most of the fog had cleared. Fished around the Indian Beach area for awhile and noted numerous schools of Shad in the process of dying off. The birds were enjoying quite the feast. Marked a few suspended fish on the sonar but couldn't convince any of them to bite. So we headed over to Konocti and caught a few crappie using red/whit and white 1/16 oz crappie jigs. at about 3PM we decided to hit Shag Rock and on the way there we fished around Anderson Island...nada..zip..zilch...nothing even showing up on the sonar. Arrived at Shag Rock for the last hour of the day and caught a few more crappie before calling it a day and heading home. All fish were released unharmed.
City: PetalumaTips: For crappie red/white and white jigs were the ticket.
For bass who knows what the hell they want right now???? I know I sure don't :(

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: What's up Roger's, no 371V in your name this time. ya git rid of her. I noticed you had five in the boat. Did you get a yacht. I saw a bass boat that day that was packed and your fave spot, its mine too. Don't worry, I won't give it away. I am the guy that sometimes fishes out of about a 15 foot red seaswirl and almost always throwin a jig! I saw you a few times when your ranger was in the shop and you were fishing in a small boat that looked like it had a cabin!
Sounds like you have a good minner bite going, congrats.
Been tough on the south end, I got skunked today, but then again I was chuckin the big baits in the middle of winter. I know I could stick a small bag if I downsized, but I don't enjoy that.Tips: Do better than me. I'd like to get a ton of rain in the next few weeks and have the weather chill by mid feb or so I can start stickin pigs! Be here before we know it. I hope it's not a late winter, so the water clarity gets good early and I can throw what I want to at em and win some moola. Wishful thinking, haha! Give me some tips so I can get em in the winter. Dec. to Feb is rough out here for me, but I know guys are gettin em. Someone always is

Water Temp: 47-48
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I made another short trip to Clear Lake at the end of last week and did catch a few bass. I started 45 minutes before dark and caught a 4-3 and a 3-14 bass on brown/orange Rodstrainer jigs w/Yami #180 grub trailers. One was 25 feet deep and the other over 30 feet deep - in the narrows. I did some rippin' as I did in the previous trip but no takers. I went to dinner feelin' pretty good about my 4 lb average (har!) and started again about 7:30 pm. After getting my token 10 incher out of the way, I caught a 2-9, 2-8, and a 2-3, all on Power hogs. So - how about that - a limit - wow!! Hey, at least it was over 15 lbs which isn't saying much. The night bass were caught north and south of Konocti Resort in rocky areas. They were very deep too. The cloud cover I hope would increase instead decreased with a bright moon soon showing. I wasn't in the mood to flip docks or other shadows, so I went home! Those bass lost out of my company! Serves 'em right!! I did have a big bass pick up my "hog" in about 25 feet of water. I did get a hookset after I realized I was pulling a fish in addition to my bait. I stuck her for an instant but she rolled off the hook. Another one I would have liked to see!!
City: Yuba CityTips: I think the carp have even realized that the water is now cold - did not hear a single one roll - even in the moonlight! I did throw jigs at night but they seem to want the Power hogs - with added Smelly Jelly!! Once the bass adjust to the suddenly cold water, I think the bite might return some. If you look at the long range forcast for some VERY cold weather - maybe not!! I think giving seminars in warm buildings sounds better to me!!! See you there!

Water Temp: 47
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water around 11am today before the rain. Wind was pretty strong coming out of the north west. Stayed around Rattle Snake and the close vacinity. Graphed lots of suspended fish but they would not eat. Lots of shad in the water too! TRied dropshot, spoons, jigs, ripbaits and a c-rig...nada for 3 hours. I think the bass must be eating at night right now with the full moon. Could not manage even a single bite today. Will try the north part of the lake tomorrow or Friday...weather permiting.
City: FairfieldTips: Go to Berryessa! The bite has been outstanding there.

Water Temp: 44-46
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Buddy Forrest and I heard about the great crappie bite so we gave it a shot first thing in AM at the Rock, Forrest got 5 fish that I would like to call medium pizza's before I got a nibble, these fish were ginormis, finally I told my buddy you take over the trolling motor and I finally got 3 in the boat, after 3 hrs we decided to go for bass and just got a bunch of 10-12 inchers.
City: San JoseTips: Fish Bass Assasin 1 inch jigs for crappie and toss it out and let it set for 20 seconds and than reel in as slow as you can with out stopping, no pause or jigging, If it were not for my buddy I would not have got one crappie because I could not get this system down, I have trouble reeling that slow on 40 oz of coffee:)Use drop shot 4 inch robo's for bass. Spoke to many bass fisherman and everyone was having trouble putting any quality fish in the boat, that is fisherman that were fishing in daylight hours.

Water Temp: 44-47
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Spent a few hours around Anderson Island throwing a 6" swimbait. No fish, no hits and no follows. A bit too cold for swimbait fish but I had been dying to try out my new setup. I did fish the bait as slow as possible but no luck on this day. The lake conditions were decent and there was quite a bit of traffic, mainly other folks fishing. The fishermen I spoke with weren't catching a lot of fish even the ones using minnows, which surprised me.
City: PetalumaTips: Happy New Year !!!
