Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: This was my irst time on the lake. Launched and ished out o Lakeport. I was on the water by 6:15am with a limit by 10:00am. First ish 5.02lbs. on a prop bait, irst lip with a senko, 4.00lbs. Five or six more on senko's, one crankbait ish (shad were busting) ended the day with a 5.06 ish on a FROGZILLA rog bait. Best ive ish 21lbs. 12oz. my largest limit ever. I think I like this place...he..he..he. The only negative was the Lakeport side o the lake was covered in weeds, every where I went. It was kind o hard to run in a small boat (14' / 15hp). Another side note....stay away rom the mexican resturant on the water in Lakeport, bad service...high prices
City: ModestoTips: This was my irst time on the lake. I wouldn't want to bet the house on how I ished, but then again it worked or me. Good Luck

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My irst time ishing Clear lake, drop shotting over rock piles with a 3" worm produced several small bass, but several large ish were ollowing them up to the surace. went back to the same rock piles at night and threw 10" black & purple power worm and hooked up a 5lb 4oz largemouth and several that went 3lbs. The wind kept us o the weed beds so we didn't try the rog bite but heard it was very productive or others. Thanks to the young ellow at Tackle It in Lake Port. His advice made our trip a very enjoyable one!
City: Fallon NVTips: the bites were pretty sot, i you eel resistance set the hook!

Water Temp: 70 something
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: A later start than I wanted as we didnt get on the water till 8:20 or a little nonexistant topwater action. At dusk, Kris was getting dink bit up shallow on the windy side o rattlesnake island, so I drug my worm deeper and picked up a 4.3. Next point on island gave him a 6.7. Got a quick photo o his big ish or the year and I picked up a 5.7.---Wow, almost 17 lbs or 3 ish in an hour? Next rockpile we ished all around or 2 short ish. I picked up a nonworm rod and got slacklined and stuck a 5.0.....thank you god! Shag rock was dead or no bites, Henderson dead too w/50million bats hitting our lines.........next 2 spots dead also?? The only thing I can igure is a small ront came through as the south wind blew that night or a coupla hours between 12-2am. I dumped a 2 or so near wheeler and we each caught a 2 lb ish there a little later. Let @ 2:15
City: Yuba CityTips: I tried areas that produce during the day or me. Several were good, several that are usually good at night were dead.

Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: On a warming trend, Kris and I went or the aternoon/evening action. I talked to two guys who caught 30 during the day, but one o them said his biggest wasnt even 12"! We ished rom 5:30-8:30 w/only a coupla dinks to show or our eorts. No rog blowups or other topwater action to speak o. I saw more otters in my areas, one was eating a ish! I dont believe the otters will eat all the bass, but now two o my very best go-to areas have otters in them. A long about 8:30 Kris breaks the ice w/a 5.o on a worm. He then gets a 4.9 about 30 minutes later. I cant seem to get touched. Ater dead dark, the bugs were all over me. I elt like I had 100 on each leg....they didnt bite, but it elt like my skin was crawling. No action or 1 hr ater dark. North o konocti, kris misses one and I am eeling rustrated. I pick up a crank and ling it a ew times. It eels good as I am bumping into rocks constantly. I stop the lure and it keeps bumping......??? caught my irst crankbait ish ater dark, ever, 3.5 lbs! Then Kris sticks another 5.2 and I get bit on a worm w/ another 3 lb ish. North o the narrows, gave me another 3 lb ish and I dumped another by the boat on a jig. Back to our dusk area and I get a 5.2 on a worm then Kris bangs a 2 and a 3 where I had already ished! Further south by redbud, one more spot gave me a 3.7 on a 7" worm. I believe that or whatever reason, the ish bit best ater 11pm. My best 5 went 18 lbs and Kris' best 5 went 20 lbs.
City: Yuba CityTips: Dont just hit the easy spots, several ish came rom "inside" areas that required some perservierence.

Water Temp: 74
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I can tell you that the post-cold ront reports arn't nearly as un as the pre-cold ront ones. Since my good trip on Friday night, there were several cold nights, lots o wind, and the water temp dropped 4 to 5 degrees. I picked up a client at Konocti Resort at 5:30 PM Tuesday evening and we tried rog ishing or quite awhile since he wanted to get his irst-ever rog blowup. We really tried hard or about 2 hours, mixing it up with Senkos and black buzzbaits. It was like a dierent lake - windy, and MUCH cooler. The best we could do was a small blowup on my green Snagproo rog. I know it was going to be tough ater all the cool weather but we had to try. Beore dark I started to throw a Weapon jig and caught 2 at 12 inchers and we both missed a ew more. Boy, they are really at!! Just beore dark I threw the jig under a dock and managed a 3 3/4 lb bass that hit it pretty good in about 5 eet o water. Ater dark it really was dead, but we did see the cold ront gradually leave since the wind died down about 11 PM. Wed. was orcast to be the beginning o a warming trend. Ater we caught a ew more 11 to 13 inch bass, my client inally sent into a good bass. I love it when they come up to the surace and boil. They sound so big when the water is calm!!!! The 10 inch black/chartreuse Power worm ooled another good bass - now, i he could just get it in the boat! Another strong ighter came to the net - inally - and weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz. He truly was excited - his biggest bass ever. He probably doesn't know it, but I was more excited than he was - that ish was a long time in coming!!!! About 3 minutes ater we started ishing again, I elt a slight pressure on my jig and set just in case. Glad I did - she weighed 4-11. And that was it - maybe 16 or so pounds or our 5 best. Sometimes as a guide it is hard to decide which type o trip is more satisying - a lot o good ish in one trip, or the lone big bass that saves the day (or night!). I was just so happy that he caught it - made or a great drive home!
City: Yuba CityTips: Many o you know that I have the theory that when ishing Clear Lake at night - as the carp go - so go the bass. When the carp begin to be active - maybe around midnight - the bass ishing usually picks up. Well, I remarked just beore he caught the big ish (11:55 PM) that the carp had suddenly started rolling around. We caught those two nice ish during that period (about 10 minutes) and then the carp disappeared. We caught no more bass at that spot. You decide!! While the worm bite is good at night, the jig bite has been good also. The two bigger ish were caught rom 10 to 20 eet deep.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Went to Clear Lake or some night ishing...Caught 6 ish, biggest at 7.3lbs. It was a bit slow, I usually catch about 8-9 average, but i guess its okay due to the act I lostat he casino..I kept the 7 pounder..and released the rest o the ish...
City: San FranciscoTips: Go plastic at night...Banjo minnow is a great option to go to,...(just a bit pricy though!

Water Temp: 79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Finally, a "two-thumbs-up" report - the ishing and the weather was better than I expected. I think we beat the cold ront or a change as we watched a dramatic cool-down at the end o the trip. I had another double bonus - good clients that had never been to Clear Lake beore and had never ished with a black light at night. It all made or a great trip!! We started about 6:30 PM in the Buckingham area throwing Senkos and rogs. I kept telling them how good my green Snagproo rog with the old hooks was, but it wasn't or awhile! First ish in the boat was a nice 3 1/4 bass or my client on a black buzzbait, which I had suggested rather than the white one he was throwing. I almost gave up on my rog when it quietly disappeared in a weed mat. I could not believe how subtle the bass took it - sort o slurpped it in. The at 6-5 had nearly swallowed it! One o the clients continued to throw his black rog and then a white rog with only a small blowup as a result. It was nearly 8 oclock and I was about to give up on the good 'ol green rog when another small blowup brought another at 5-6 to the boat. We just couldn't get over it - we almost couldn't extract the rog - one hook was nearly in her throat. We let her in the live well or awhile - she was ine. I was pleased with my avorite rog on a tough bite. Two bites - two ish. I know these ellows were impressed with that color rog. They ished some green ones with me ater that but it was over. One o them had worked the buzzbait or quite awhile with no results. We had an amusing moment beore dark - one o the clients was throwing a MS Slammer swimbait and thought he had a bite. So, or the next 20 or so seconds, we hear: "AW, he got away - NO - he's on!, Aw, I lost him, WAIT - I think he's still on!, and so on! He did have one on ater all - 3 pounds. Ater his partner and I gave him a hard time all night, I'll bet he wishes he hadn't caught it!!! Ater dark we ished all over the south end and Rattlesnake arm, ending with 13 in the boat with the 5 ish limit at 24 1/2 pounds. We really lost a lot o bass later in the trip or some reason, maybe 'cause o the change in the weather. Another good ish was taken on a jig - a 5-4. My clients caught 9 o the bass with a solid 3 1/2 pound average. All the bass we caught on our trip were at and looked well-ed. The 10 inch Power Worm was the main bait, one on a Senko. Though we tried, no spinnerbait ish.
City: Yuba CityTips: I think Clear Lake has turned the corner a bit, as it usually does around the beginning o August. This was the most active I have seen the bass in quite some time. We caught all o our ish ater dark on "docks and rocks" - just like the "good 'ol days"!

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My client and I tried to see i it was possible to catch ish ater a major holiday weekend. I guess all we had to do was read the previous report! Thankully, we didn't have any wind problems but did have the usual recent Clear Lake problem - not many bites! We started ishing about 7 PM and tried some rog areas and a little topwater. Nothing! So I took him to an area that had been good just beore dark, and it paid o again - thankully or him!! He was using my avorite black/chartreuse 10" Power worm, and set into a good one in about 15 eet o water. Boy! - was I excited when I saw it, and DISAPPOINTED when I lited it into the boat. This bass either was the president o the underwater weight watchers club, or she had 15000 kids!! She was about 26 inches and weighed 6 lbs 6 oz. Talk about skinny!! She should have been 7 easy! But as those ish usually do - what a ight!! That was it beore dark. Ater dark, about an hour later, my client got another on the same worm - about 3 1/4. We ished several other areas with only a ew bites. Finally I was able to impress my client with a giant 1 1/2 pounder on a big tube bait. Lunker Lar strikes again!!! We moved to another area and the main man got another nice bass at 4 pounds - I think on the same worm. I ended the evening with another amazing ish - about 2 pounds! At least we got a limit - about 16 1/2 pounds. I went out or about 2 1/2 hours today, mostly to look around. I ished a little and did catch a 4 pounder on a 6 inch number 301 Senko, on the edge o a weed patch. Man, I love that color! I did get one nice ish to ollow a rog to the boat, but she waved and let!!
City: Yuba CityTips: Since my client is ishing a tournament, I won't mention speciic areas as is my policy in that situation. He should do well - he is a good isherman with a good hookset. I will say that I am really concerned about the weed slayers that were out in orce today in their airboats. They are spraying (pelleting) anything that moves, and in areas that they just don't need to do it. It is not a hydrilla problem - I think they need to spend their grant money. This is going to make or some tough daytime ishing I ear, not to mention that the un o rog ishing may be mostly over at Clear Lake. It won't help the night ishing either. For those o you that think that the bass "are still all there", and granted, there are still a lot o bass at Clear Lake, many o the bass that usually hold in certain areas this time o year are not showing up on the meter or on the hook. They probably have moved to new weedy homes!

Report: Fished Monday evening 7-08-02 3pm to 9pm weather was warm and wind was calm. Also had one hit a buzzbait but came undone. The 12lbs. cat came a crankbait. It was nice not having the big crowd rom the weekend. I ound that the ishing was best or me up shallow but near deep water.

Report: A good way to save the ish when un ishing a Senko is to clip the barb o the hook and even when they take it deep you can careully remove it with a pair o pliers or one o those trout hook removers. Give it a try, it works pretty good.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Took my loat tube out yesterday, and had a blast. It was nice to get on Clear when the wind is not blowing. It came up, but not until around 5 pm or so. I couldn't ind any ish in the tules or on the docks up around Nice and Lucerne, but I ound some out about 50 yards or so away rom the bank in the grass. Depth probably 8-10 eet when I started getting them. I got all my ish on Senkos in 6" green pumpkin. The ish were in the grass, but it seemed like they were only holding in the red leay stu, not the real stringy green stu. I thikn the red stu makes better shade and cover or the ish. Almost all o the ish I got were pretty good sized. I ended up with only 2 dinks, 2 around 2 1/2 lbs, and the rest were over 4 with 2 over 5lbs with a total o 16 ish. Nothing on rogs, or any topwater at all. Nothing ilppin tules, nothing o the docks(weird). Every one o them came rom that red grass except or one that I got o o a tree on the bank. Throw right into the middle o the grass patches(can't say mats yet over there) and deadstick it. You know, ish it like a Senko! I actually saw a couple o the ish come up and eat the baits. They did not seem to be very aggressive. They would just cruise up real slow rom underneath, and just kind o suck it in. Could not eel it at all. I only elt 2 o the bites all day. Be careul to not deep hook too many i you can help it.
City: Santa RosaTips: Subtle bites on Senkos make or a lot o deep hooked ish. I it happens to you(it will) just clip o the line and release them with the hook. Doing surgery to get your hook out will almost always kill the ish.

Report: 6/16/02 Fished coves in the north end o the lake Father's day. Picked up 3.5 on a black rog around 10am. Then picked up two more on green Senkos o the tule points. Water is still remarkably clear and could see some big cruisers. Headed up Rodman in the aternoon, way up Rodman. Thought I had my lake record on a black/blue jig but instead landed a 12.5 lb cat! Luckily I had on braided line as it put up a heck o a ight. Right ater the cat I picked up a 2.5 and 3.5 o a green pumpkin seed Senko. Weather was beautiul with just a slight breeze.
City: Santa RosaTips: I you want to ish the north end this summer, go now. The weeds are really growing with the water clarity. Much o it will be choked o by July. As is, had to clear the prop several times.
