Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: well got on the lake kinda late but wasn't worried, i was just GREATFULL for the LORD to let me fish. launched my boat. ran across the lake, nothing. then went down a bit and picked up a trout. next two moves nothing. went down to the dam, hopes was a little higher, still nothing. came back up to the narrows, stopped the boat, and flipped my jig. waited, felt some weight, set the hook hard......................line broke...o-boy...sharp rock!!lol...it's ok. so i went back to the ramp. tied up the boat got the truck, jumped in the boat and guess what A TROUT PLANT!!!......didn't get a bass nor a striper, but i did get a supersized trout. fished for a hour more then went home...
    City: san francisco

Tips: i have gave up TOO many days scared of the weather!! don't be like me, go for it!!..all were caught on suspending rip baits. got to love those baits. tried jigs and deep divers. nothing...the water is seriously dirty...and it's cold...the water has just raised up so covering more aera would be my guess....

    Water Temp: 49-51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Guide trip today with Nick Gorman and Alex Rosales both of Redwood City..Alex had never bass fished before and did a good job with a dozen or so fish..We had a front moving in that had the fish spread out but these guys hung in there and caught there share. They boated 33 bass with a nice nice 5lber for Nick and another 20 or so being nice solid keepers with Smallies mixed in. A lot more short fish on this day than normal. Drop shotting and dartheads caught fish. 082 Keeper on a dart head will get bit as will 4 and 6" strait tail robo baits on a the dropshot..We stayed in the 40ft range and did catch one in 60. If you want to go and learn some deep water fishing that you can apply to any of the motherload lakes now is the time.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Bait is schooled up and bass are near in most cases..

    Water Temp: 50-52.5

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Todays instruction trip was with Jay Johnson of Hayward, Ca. We spent the day in 25-35 with plastics. 30+ fish for the day and a couple of firsts for Jay. He had never caught a fish on a drop shot rig and had never caught a smallmouth.Well he turned it around and he actually acomplished both goals on the second cast of the day. Good fisherman and had him self about a 13lb limit for 5 by days end.
    City: San Jose

Tips: With the stable weather and water levels the fishing will be cosistant thru the 1st of the year. There right where there going to be all winter now.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On the water at 8.00 and headed past the narrows to fish the bluff banks.Threw a silver buddy and worked it back to the boat in 20-25 feet deep. Had 2 smallies(about 2 lbs a piece) and moved to the next steep walls.still throwing the buddy and got into some good lmb.biggest going 5.3# all fish hit the sikver buddy and hit it good!
Off the water around 1.30.Total bass were 6.
    City: fremont

Tips: Work the steeper banks in 20-30 feet of water. The fish were nailing my bait pretty good.Might want to try a dropshot rig on same places.

    Water Temp: 50-52.5

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Guide trip today with Michael Chen of Oakland and Sandra Sueoka of Santa Clara.. both good fisherman/women with hearty souls as the am air temp was a brisk 32F with an 8-10mph wind out of the SE. Much more like Shasta then whats typical for the Bay Area..We started in the south end of the narrows and they were getting bit from the get go in 30-35' on the dropshot. Once the sun peeked its head over the tundra the fish backed out and hung around the 40 mark today and the fish didn't move around much with a mushy bite..A little dead time from lunch till 1:30 but pretty consistant for much of the day with one here one there...30+ fish for them together with the best fish around 3.5 caught by Sandy. One decent fish did come in about 15ft late in the day off a main point. But for the most part we stayed deep and were never close enough to hit shore with there baits and didn't target them. fish is good right now if you slow it down and keep one eye on your graph.

    Water Temp: 56-58

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Water level is steady at low pool now..Weather Sunday was miserable to say the least with cold winds gusting to 30+mph..Started off in the am with reaction baits and caught three quick smallmouth of no size..I then started looking for bait in cuts and boated a couple of spoon fish in the 40' range but again just keepers. We then parked on some deep points with plastics and caught numbers through out the day with two nice fish close to four for my guest..wind died around 330 making for a pleasant ending. Larger plastics on the drop shot worked best. Find some fish on deep bait and they will pop a spoon too. Just hard to stay with the spoon fish with the wind we had. Most fish caught in 35-40. With an occasional deeper fish in 50+.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Some BIG solitary stripers moving around. If your in the right place at the right time you can hang a slug on a topwater bait so keep one handy. Or if you have the stamina to throw a big plug ALL day you have a good chance at getting bit.

    Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Guide trip with Ray Dennis from Chicago. Good fisherman, quickly picked up fishing much much deeper than he is acustomed too for sure. I had hopes of a sunny day with a little wind but it didn't happen. Hazy skys and dead calm all day. Stayed off shore for the most part and fish were in 30-50 on breaks and deep wood. All drop shot. He boated 10-12 fish with the best going 2 3/4 and a big trout about 8lbs also on the drop shot. Fishing 6" worms in shad patterns are getting bit. He had to get to the airport so we knocked off at 1:45pm.

    Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished both Friday and Sat with good results both days...Friday are fish were primarily Smallmouth with only a couple of LM for the day...Quality was decent. All are smallies came on a LC Stacey except for the couple of deep largemouth when the rip bite died..10 or so smallies 2 largemouth with the best fish going close to three. We had a west wind and bluebird skys and the fish were on shallow NE gravel points close to deep water..Saturday they(Smallies) were not to be found(bait was gone too) so off too breaks and steeper banks in the narrows to look for largemouth. They were there allthough not a red hot, fish every cast bite. Several decent fish with a dozen or so keepers for the day Dropshotting 6 inch baits. Greens and browns got bit.
    City: San jose

Tips: Smallies are hit and miss but worth a look if conditions are right ..Largemouth are in 15-30 on steeper hard bottom areas and dropshotting was the ticket. A few were caught on jigs as well early. The lake is turning as there are fish from 6-60 and so is the bait.Fishing will improve over the next few weeks.

Water Temp: go on a sunny d

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: who says winter bass fishing suxs? NOT ME...
it was a pretty good day. all my fish were caught on hardbaits. i tried them all suspending baits, shallow diving baits, ones with rattles and some with none.
got into two two bass nice size, one trout, a sqaw fish on a crank bait, and missed another.
well the one i missed was pretty good. felt like a someone tied my line to a 5 gallon jug and just dropped it, my line ripped a little and then i came unbuttoned. my heart broke down.
all in all i can say i was glad to go.

    o yea........

SOME JERK WAS WATCHING ME FISH, I DIDN'T MIND, BUT THEN WHEN I HHOKED UP INTO A FISH I DECIDED TO LET IT GO. IT WAS ABOUT 3 LBS (LARGEMOUTH),A BY STANDER TOLD ME NEXT TIME I RELEASE A FISH I SHOULD OFFER IT BEFORE I RELEASE IT. I WAS SHOCKED...
I TOLD HIM I RELEASE BASS IF I FEEL LIKE IT. SOMEDAY I WANT MY CHILDERN TO BEABLE TO CATCH BASS LIKE THIS.
next to him was a stringer of trout, about 8 or 9. i hate bank fisherman sometimes.....

Tips: try, stay confidence, and when u loose your cool, stop and say a prayer, ask God why things are like this, maybe he'll answer you. he answered me!!!

Report: Good news is that I caught 11 fish. Bad news (for a bass fisherman) only 1 LM, and 1 stiper. The other 9 were trout (1 was near 4lbs). What can I say. They just couldn't stay away from my rapala. For bass I tried carolina rig, brass n glass worm, drop shot, and gub. The only lm was taken on drop shot and the stiper (3.8lbs) went for a c-rig brush hog on the fall. Tough day for bass fishing. Great day for trout. Caught all 9 fish in less than 30 min.
    City: Foster City

Tips: Didn't figure the bass out. The trout were in shallow water schooled up. Some looked like torpedos - big trout! If the bass have lock jaw don't go home empty handed. Something out there is hungry.

    Water Temp: 62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I had a good day today. Had two clients, one from S.Korea. Between them, they had a mission. The biggiest, and the most LOL. Well, I give them both a Drop-shott'in rig and started near the dam on the right/side, the pattern that I had found on the previous trip still held. I position the boat and let them have at it. By 10 O'clock the score was 5 fish for Tony and 3 fish for smitty. With Smitty having the biggiest. This is with only one sweep down this bank of 250yrd's. Tried other spot's closer to the dam and either they caught a fish or missed a hit. All the while I was throwing different bait rig's Noth'in. At the end of the day 2:30 (They decided they had enough fun). Final toll. Tony 7-8, Smitty 6, Guide Zip, NANA. Out of 13-14fish caught, about 8 were over 1.5 with the biggeriest about 2.5 caught by smitty. Take care and good luck/ Rich Thiel's Guiding Service 925-292-5024
    City: Livermore,

Tips: Position you boat over 30-35ft of water while Drop-shottin a Robo worm in Grape/Brown/Blue streek. You should get hit around 20ft. Pattern to look for is Large rock/Mud. Toward's the dam area their is a bank that has just large gravel on it and this is know holding some good fish. It should get better as we near winter and the water temp drop's.

    Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Caught around 8-9 LM bass using dropshot on/near flats with close drop offs nearby and my buddies managed 6 largest going around 2 1/2, rest were 1 1/2 and smaller. I started throwing a jerkbait near rockwalls which produced 3 smallies to my surprise. Never thought they had them here. Even more surprising was th 8.5lb rainbow I caught on the lucky craft pointer. Go figure. Smallies came mid morning from 10-11am. LM all day.
    City: EastBay

Tips: Look for the Adobe clay type of banks with some runoffs and throw at where the murky meets the clear water. Dropshotted this way as we let the rental drift. I couldn't tell you how I managed the smallies except off sharp steep rocks in deep water worked straight back from bank.

    Water Temp: 56 -63 degree's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I and a client didn't start untill 9AM this morning. Didn't seem to matter with the overcast and dead calm water.

Ran too mid-lake and started on the righthand side. My client immediately starting catching fish by drop-shott'in a morning dawn around 20ft where the work and mud join together. HA, we have a pattern developing. I was throwing a jig and never got hit. It slowed up some and I switch his bait to a Robo Black/grape and he proceeded to boat 10 more within an hour. I manage to boat one 2.10lb on a top-water mid stream between nett'in. The fish all ran between 1.5 and 2lb's.

    Good luck

    City: Livermore

Tips: Look for where the Rock and Mud join together and throw according to overcast or blue skies. Also have at least 30-35ft under your boat if you are catching them drop-shott'in. The fish didn't seem to relate to wood, altho the overcast may of had some bearing on it. Overcast use dark color and sun out use light color, morning dawn, green's or light brown/blue streak.

Report: Horrible Horrible!!! That explains todays outting. The fishing sucked. I hadn't been since August. The lake dropped at least 25 feet. I caught one bass, four inches long, in six hours on a chug bug . We did everything. Talked to a local bassfisherman when we got back to the marina and he said that the lake is turning right now.
    City: Boraga

Tips: Don't waste your time and money fishing here right now! Wait about two weeks. It is pathetic. Good luck to whoever tries!

    Water Temp: 68-70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Started off today break'n in a new Ranger/Yamaha at 10AM. Ran it down to the Dam and began to fish checkout all the bells and whistle's.

Dropshot first keeper and missed a couple (caught them related to windy points), Morning Dawn 4" worm. Drove the boat around some more at varies RPM's

Decided to try Jig's below 20ft off of rock and caught 3 more (1/4oz football head/Brown/Green/Ch/w GYBC Twin Grub 208. Biggiest went too 3lb 6oz's.

Was off the water at 4PM. Tomorrow the Delta (Home) LOL. Need the hour's on the Engine.
    City: Livermore

Tips: Fish slow and key in at 15 to 25ft near medium Rock or long points. Swim the Jig. Shad are shallow. The fish I noticed where skinny. The jig fish thumped it hard.
