    Report: To Jim Scarlett,

Congratulations on your success at Folsom. Most are struggling out there so it's nice to see a someone cathcing some nice fish out there.
I was under the impression that this site was designed to help others. Your reports do indicate where you can try and fish but there is a total lack of information on the exact types of baits to use. I am all about sharing everything I know because I get just as much enjoyment out of teaching others as I do actually catchng. I guess this is where we will have to disagree.
    thanks for the insightful reports.

As for myself I found some sucess tossing 3/8 oz brown jig on both steep walls and points. Most success has been dragging the jig. Darter head Arons magic will pick up a few as well.

Tips: look for reports where people are sharing what they know and who are willing to teach what they know to those who what to learn.

    Water Temp: 51.1-53.2

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Had some business in Sacramento so I brought the boat and hit Folsom for a few hours. Fished in the north fork and just hit likely looking points for 5 bites and 4 fish landed in about 3.5 hours of fishing. All 4 fish were quality spots with the weights going 2.1, 2.2, 2.6, and 3.0. Dart head 3/16 w/ Green pumpkin flirt worm got the 2.2 and 2.6, Revenge spoon 3/4oz purple/silver got the 2.1 and 3.0. Spoon fish were in about 30ft. of water and darthead fish were in about 10-12ft. Missed one bite on the drop-shot. Spent the last hour trying really hard to get a limit (tourney ego) but it didn't happen. How come when I tournament fish I would have had to fizz the 2 spoon fish, when I released them they swam straight down and did not come back up, I made sure to stay over the area for a while.
    City: San Jose, Ca

Tips: I graphed a lot of bait balls but not very many arches or fishy looking stuff on my graph. I am not much of a spoon fisherman so if I can catch them on a spoon there must be a decent spoon bite. This lake has always been good to me, I just wish I had more time to get that last fish, I think I would have had a good limit. Chilly out but otherwise nice.

    Water Temp: 50.5-52.9

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Very short trip - under 2 hours (2pm-4pm). No hits but saw some 2 pound fish visually in about 4 feet on rocky hump. Main reason for report is water temp. Air temp was pretty warm. Dike 8/Folsom Pt. launch ramp almost too low to use but not quite. Water still much higher than it should be this time of year.
    City: Folsom

Tips: Stored a lot of waypoints on GPS for future use.

    Water Temp: 54 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: On the water with a friend at @07:30 hrs air temp at 32degrees with no wind. Decided to run up the South Fork first which was difficult due to the fog still on the water. Found the old salmon falls bridge with no fish on it and that maybe because the water temp there is at 45 degrees. Fished the South fork for a few hours with no luck(not even a bite). Ran to the main lake to fish points found one spotted bass in about 5 feet water near current and rock. She hit a baby brush hog on a darthead rig and weighted in just under 2 1/2 lbs. Wind was blowing out of the southeast between 8-10 miles from about 8am on which made for a very cold day of fishing. Saw several other boats running and gunning but I don't know how they did. North Fork water temp is still above 50 degrees, today is was at 54 degrees. This lake continues to eat my lunch..One day I'll figure her out until then have fun, dress warm and take a kid fishing. Merry Christmas to all.
    City: EDH

Tips: I would probably fish the North Fork only because the South Fork water temp is getting Cold.

    Water Temp: 53-56

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well, now that it's late into the night/morning and all the NCC angler's are or should be sleeeping I will post my report from Thursday the 14 th.Okay, On the water before sun-up, 1st stop I started off throwing a spook around an island in the main body, result's nada. I then switched over to a lucky craft staceeeee 90 rip-bait in ghost minnow, I ripped over shallow flat's & deep one's aswell for NADA.Next up was the swim-bait, for nada.I then broke down and went for the drop-shot rod, result's> (BORING BUT PRODUCTIVE, IF YOU LIKE CATCHING SALMON). I caught four Salmon drop shotting using a 3" Berkley Power Minnow , color was Black Shad,AWESOME bait for bass aswell just not on this stop.I left the main body & headed for the South Fork. The first point I pulled up too, I started off throwing a Bommer-A crank bait & on my 2nd. or 3rd. cast I nailed a 10.8 lb. LMB, IN SIX FEET OF WATER!!! WHO NEED'
S SWIM-BAIT'S <J/K... IF YOU WANT TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF A DD FISH THEN GO WITH A SWIM-BAIT, I JUST GOT LUCKY!!I chucked that bommer for a good two hour's after nailing that PIG, The only other fish I caught on the Bommer was a 2 - 2.5 lb.Spot like I said "I JUST GOT LUCKY".So, I went back to Drop-Shotting using the Berkely P/M in 15-20' of water & caught three more Spot's before calling it a day. OH YAH, Kent Brown AKA K.B. I gotta give him a little credit for helping me stick that PIG, WHY ?? Well, the Bommer-A I caught that PIG on, was given to my son & I along with a bunch of other misc. tackle that my old friend Mr. B... no longer had garage space for, THANK'S BUD!!! & NO, YOU CANNOT HAVE IT BACK!!! ~MJB
    City: Granite Bay

Tips: Keep your line wet & good thing's will happen. Folsom has been very , very hard to pattern this Fall & Winter & without a good pattern it's tough to putt'em in the boat. Folsom will turn on & when it does I hope my line is in the water.... If a friend offer's tackle, take-it & use it, IT WORKED FOR ME!!!

Report: First boat on the not so dead sea this awesome morning. Had a limit by 8:05, and ended up with 8 fish(10 bites..missed 1st 2 bites). Nothing over 2.5, but nothing under 1.75. Off the water at 11 a.m. Probably coulda had more, buy spent time taking pictures of structure on the shoreline and a bald eagle that swooped down and snatched up a 1.5 lb. spot!!! Again, not hard to find fish, caught fish on 4 of the 5 areas I stopped on. No big ones but still a bunch o' fun!!!

    Water Temp: 55-56.6

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished with my good friend Bob Kornhauser (sp.) to give hime a little insight for the upcoming NCC on December 16th. Fished some swimbaits, but eventually moved to the reliable dartheaded Roboworm. Found that points and isalnd tops in 15-30 ft. held fish and we had 4 good keppers in the 4 hours we fished. You missed out sTony, it would have been a good show for WesternBass.com, maybe next time.

As for the declining fishery, I don't know what lake you're talking about, but this happens every year around this time and it takes awhile for us to adjust. Considering the lake hasn't turned over yet, we need to be patient and move until we find the fish.
    City: Roseville

Tips: The fish are moving shallower now and it will take around 17 lbs. to win this Sunday. Dartheading was our deal, but I'm sure with the incoming weather the reaction and swimbait fish will get active.

    Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Come on now!!! It's a tough lake, but that's what makes us better fisherman. I went out Sunday and had 6 by 10:30. Ran into a buddy who also had 6 by then. Can't tell you the pattern due to the upcomming FBL on Sunday, but it ain't that hard to figure out, and you don't have to go that deep to get'em. If you think it's the "Dead Sea", go to the weigh in at Granite Bay on Sunday. I bet 95% on the teams have limits and over 17 lbs. will win.
    City: Rocklin

Tips: Take a kid fishing. Also remember, catching these fish is always a bonus...look around, breath the air, feel the sun on your face, and take a moment to realize how alive you can feel being on the water.

Report: Started about noon. Went to an main body off-shore break and started spooning about 40ft. My first 2 fish were trout. Then I went to an island out in front of Beals point and started drop shotting a Basstrix smelt SJB in about 25 to 30ft. and caught quite a few smallmouth and spots in the 1-1/2 to 3lb. range. Moved over off the islands in the middle of the lake and found a lot of fish in 25 to 40ft. They were feeding up on the flats close to a deep break or the very end of a point.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: In responce to Paul Parks' recent post regarding the seemingly decline in amount of fish being caught. I began fishing Folsom about four years ago. Until this past spring/spawn season, I really believed the fish population in the lake was very low. Very rarly did I catch more than five fish per outing. During the past spawn in 2006, I could not believe the amount and size of fish that were up shallow very easy catch. Several days I caught fish mostly all day with good size. However, as I was fishing a good size cove, a boat pulled into the cove, right past me, five guys piled out unto the bank and proceeded to completey empty out the cove of spawning bass. Each person kept a large stringer of bass. I saw the same group several times throughout the spawn season. My guess is that could hurt the fish population. Maybe not, I don't know.

    Water Temp: 54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I have to agree with Jeremy on conditions at the Dead Sea. I fished Saturday from noon to 2:00.Went to spots that always hold fish and never had a bite.
I live three minutes from the lake and fish it frequently.Even though Fall and Winter is not my most effective time to fish, I rarely get skunked.I am making a call, this lake is in a serious decline.
Over the past three years I have seemed to catch less fish per hour than previous trips. Even though spring is awesome for numbers and size, the numbers are smaller.Three years ago four hours after work produced 15 to 20 fish that were no smaller than 2.5 lbs and common up to 4 lbs. with the 5 and 6 lber every other trip.
This year I had some great action on large fish but the same four hours produced 5 to 10 fish.As I drove around the lake this Sat. I noticed the areas I used to fish that had wood and tree's. My guess is half of the wood has disappeared in the last 5 years.
I dont want to be a nattering nabob of negativity but my hope is this is a temporary thing that nature figures out on its own.Lakes come and go with fish, Folsom has been awesome, I guess I'll just have to wait or get better at fishing this pond.

Report: Fished in a small office tournament (6 boats). Tough bite for everyone. We caught three bass from 2.5 to 4.6 pounds, which was enough to win.
    City: Sacramento

Tips: When the bite is this tough you've got to finesse them. Working drop shot very slowly in 25-40 feet was the ticket. No reaction bite today.
