City: RosevilleTips: Only tip I can think of is if you want to try crankbaits try the lucky craft baits there all good .

Water Temp: 73 - 74
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the back sides of wind blown rocky points with big success. Fish were all on larger rocks in 5 to 7 feet of water. Caught a nice 3 pound spot and a couple 1 1/2 pounders before the wind came up early and sent us packing for the day!
City: SacramentoTips: Senkos, Senkos, Senkos

Water Temp: 73 - 74
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Another typical Sunday on Folsom Lake. No top water bite again, but the Senkos in the trees continued to be the ticket. Watermelon seemed to the the best bet all day. Today was a day that reminded me why I don't fish Folsom on a weekend, too many jet skis and waterskiers for my liking! I guess I will stick with my regular Monday on the lake by myself. Lots of fish around the rocks in about 7 to 10 feet of water in the North arm, and all in the trees in the South.

City: SacramentoTips: Find the pattern early so you don't wast your morning! Tight lines to all!!! Let's keep this a place to share information and stop all the garbage!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The bite is still good fishing reaction baits (spinnerbaits, rip-baits, flukes) in the morning. Then try plastics like grubs and 4" worms on a 1/8 oz darthead on the outside points. Most of the fish have been spots with a few largemouth mixed in. Fish have been running 1 1/2 to 3lbs.
City: SacramentoTips: Work your plastics SLOW!

Water Temp: low-mid 60's
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got a later start then I would have liked but bank fished Folsom from Rattlesnake Bar launch ramp north about 3/4 mile. After no luck on a white double willow blad spinnerbait my partner and I decided to change patterns (he was also tossing a spinnerbait), or fish Avery Pond. A short walk back to the launch ramp and we headed for Avery. First time fishing both the North side of Folsom and Avery. Caught nearly a dozen bass between my partner and I fishing 5" dark green blake flake Senkos. All the fish were about a pound. Put a little grub on an ultralight rod and caught two bluegill both goin a pound or so. Left by noon. Was a great trip, if you don't mind a short hike Avery is a great little pond. If you fish her please practice C&R as a fishery like that can be easily depleted. Good luck and tight lines.
Tips: Finally realized all the hype about the senkos. Great action, casts like a bullet and catches fish. Once it gets ripped to shreds trying fishing it wacky. Seemed like the fish liked seeing a different presentation.

Water Temp: 68 to 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: This week has been very good with fish up to 4lbs.
Still finding alot of Spotted bass on the out side points and banks.
I also found many Largemouth moving up in the wood to spawn and many that are getting ready to, and some that already have.
This would be a great time to get out and learn how to site fish. Most where in 5 to 10 feet.
Congrates to Seth who at 12 years old caught the first 3 fish of the day on Tuesday. One was a 3lb. Spot.
City: SacramentoTips: Look for a reaction bite in the morning and then slow down after the sun comes up.
Practice catch and release. Good Luck

Water Temp: 61to 63
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Dropping the Lake 8ft. in one week did not help the spawn much. Found spots to 3lbs on almost all points in the north fork and south fork. Largmouth beds that I saw a week ago are out of the water now and others are much esier to see now that the water is lower. We have been averaging about 25 fish per trip with most being spots and smallmouth.
City: SacramentoTips: Use rip baits and white spinerbaits in the morning and smoke grubs on 1/8oz dart head, and carolina rigged 4inch worms, Pag rigged 4inch Senkos the rest of the day.

Water Temp: 62-63
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the afternoons/evenings of 4-15, 4-20 and 4-21 in the North Fork and found fish on the main lake points and secondary points. Took a Dad and his two boys on 4-15 and had good luck on tubes. The youngest caught the most and biggest fish because he did nothing to the lure except let it drag (it also helped that I was casting his tube close to the bank and he listened to my presentation suggestions, but he still caught the fish.) As the sun went down we had a wide open topwater bite on the super-spook. On 4-20 took a Mom and her son for his birthday and we loaded the boat. Once again the fish were up and eating the tube and the evening topwater bite was on fire. Most the topwater fish were close to the bank and long accutate casts parallel or quartered to the bank got the majority of the bites. The fish might strike initially on a steady cadence however repeated casts to a likely spot, incorporating long pauses, literally dead-sticking the spook resulted in numerous additional bites. Fish are oriented to any changes in the bank especially where wheelbarrow or larger sized rocks are present. Most fish were in the first 15 feet however some topwater bites came next to the boat (I usually position my boat in 25-30 feet). Fished alone in the howling wind for two hours on 4-21 evening in Eddie Murphy Cove and managed to lose 6 of eight on the tube and three on a rip bait. Seeing boatloads of fish and bait on the meter but having trouble catching the suspended fish (drop me an e-mail or post here, a little help would be appreciated.)
City: Citrus HeightsTips: Take the competitive edge off and take a novice or two fishing. Any bass means so much to them and reminds you of the joy of fishing. Go fishing because you can.

Water Temp: 59-60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Had the itch to go fishing all day. Worked on the house all day and didn't start fishing till a little after 6pm. Went out with two friends and went straight to the rock piles first thing. Two friends were draggin' 4in. Arrons magic, and myself rippin'....only brought 2 spinning rods..oh well. In the short time we fished we all managed one fish over 2#, the biggest being 2#8oz. My two friends managed to catch three apiece and my self caught two rippin'. Not bad for only fishing for little over an hour. All Bass were spots......
City: Citrus HeightsTips: Be very careful out on the lake. The lake is still dropping, Be aware of unmarked rock piles.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Went out on Easter Sunday, Sunday, Sunday. Did not go fishing with my usual partner, but went fishing with Gordon from the Folsom Bass team. Got on the water first thing before all the knuckle heads. Lake dropped about 4 to 5 feet. Expected fish to be of the bank in deeper water or susupened. Went up the North fork started rippin' and and throw blades. G man picked up three and I was still waiting to get bit..... Fished rock walls for days and only got three. Time to take G man to my spot. Cruised over to some rock piles where I was catching good spots to 2 pounds for the last two weeks. Started throwing plastics near the rock piles we caught a few here and there. Then we came to shallow water (lake dropped a few feet) then found a nice 2 1/2 pound smallie on a bed. Worked the fish for a few minutes and finally caught it. got the fish off the hooke and saw a 2 plus pound spot on a bed, then so on and so on bed fish everywhere. On the bottom of a tree was a nice largie that I finally caught after almost giving up. It went for 3# 14oz. not a bad fish. Wind started to pick up and ruined the sight fishing. Off the water by 11:30, before the knuckle heads got on the water. Good day best five went for around 14#
City: Citrus HeightsTips: Through Basstrix Perch Minnows (looks like a blue gill) on the bed fish and just shake them. The bass take them right away. To bad Fishermen's Warehouse never has them is stock..... hmm hot bait maybe order more??

Water Temp: 57-60
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished from 7 a.m. until the madness started (pleasure craft mania has already hit Folsom) 10:30 a.m.
Two decent spots on a rip bait and another got off up South. One nice spot on a senko in the dead wood trees outside Hobie Cove. Then at 10:00 I landed a beautiful 3.9 smallie on a darthead (what else for hippie) on Mormom Island. This fish was only 14.5 inches long but fat like a football and the colors were AWESOME!! A tanic brown with green in the gills what a fight great fish!! Then I noticed all the traffic and the ramp at Brown's getting nasty. I am outta here kinda reminded me of Summer.
No toads on beds like I here Russ and the gang are catching, but Spring is my weakness gimme 30 ft and cold any day!!! Fun time anyway
City: SacramentoTips: When the willows flood in a few weeks dropshot and senkos, right now I say reaction and find the beds!!

Report: Went out about 6 am and stayed out all day until about 5pm. Only two damn fish (1.5 smallies) drifting watermelon brush hawgs. I was curious if anyone thinks that the water level changes are affecting the bite. Anyway good luck out there and drop me some advice.

Water Temp: 58-61
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: A friend and I went out about 4 pm after the 30 mph winds we've had for the past two days died down to under 15 mph. It has been a couple of years since I've been on Folsom. We went up the south fork and couldn't get bit until about 30 minutes before sunset. Then we picked up our first fish, a nice 4.6, on a big black jig and about 20 minutes later, another 2.5 on the jig. I thought it was interesting that we caught the fish on 20 lb. XT (didn't bother to change line before trip) in relatively clear water. It makes me wonder why I bothered with 6 lb line for so many years back when I fished the lake on a regular basis. Both fish were relatively shallow. We didn't try drop-shotting so that bite might have been better.

Water Temp: 61-62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Got on the water around 3:30 p.m. and headed up the North Fork. Had a 2+ on the super-spook on the second cast. Checked a willow where I missed a toad the day before (jerked the spook away from her twice, duh) and no dice. But on my way out the cove I stopped on a buoy and got a 3+ on the first cast with the spook. After a dozen more casts and no bites I switched to a tube and it was on. I put 14 pounds in the boat in no time (wish my labs could fish, I bet they would have been bit, too). I even caught the same fish I caught on the spook (she had a torn maxilla and a puncture mark from cull buoy clip). The buoy was in 15 ft water and the fish were on it and around the edges.
Previous day (March 29) I caught my largest Folsom spot to date on the tube. I'm guessing that she was 5 lb, but what a handsome fish to get on 4 lb P-Line.
City: Citrus HeightsTips: Go fishing because you can. The fish are biting like wild dogs and if you don't get bit quick, then they aren't there. Keep moving and look for rock piles adjacent to flats and willows are a good bet right now. Make long casts and don't get on top of the fish for the water is very clear and they will just move off, but often return. Bigger baits are getting the better fish. Throw the topwater, I think you will be pleasantly suprised.
