Water Temp: 50s-70s
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Had the Melcottons float tube tournment Saturday. Great Day for a tournament. A little more overcast in the beginning but warmed up quickly. Caught a total of 3 bass best going 4lbs. the other two were 2lbs each. One of the twos jumped out of the livewell...I got second place but if i still had that fish, i would have gotten first. oh well, still had a lot of fun! This place is ALOT better than SCR! better fish, my dad gets KPIG and i get cellphone reception! comin back more often! All fish from the tourney were released!
Tips: dropshotting 4inch Culprit Worms! Same color same secret! The three fish were my three biggest fish i have ever caught in a float tube! The fish have fight!
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Trolled for trout, got four. Switched to bassin for awhile, spinnerbait and carolina rigged 4 inch purple worm. Got two dinks, nice fight, very good coloring, but small. A couple of float tubers were doing OK in the shallows throwing mini spinnerbaits, but they also reported small ones.
City: SJTips: Mmmm, smoked trout! Stay parallel to shorelines for small ones, was too windy to try deeper water for me today for larger bass.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: continuing from last report for temperature, in some places also 70s. Temperature makes a big difference! i was feeling the water the entire time and i only caught fish in the 70 degrees water!
Tips: just put your hand it. if its warm enough to make you want to jump in then fish it, if its cold, move.

Water Temp: some places: 50
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Not bad for my first time at Lexington. Float tubed with a friend to practice for a tourney coming up. Mainly dropshotted with Zoom flukes and other lures. Caught two bass 2# and 3#. i was aiming for fish bigger than 13inches because thats the minimum for the tourney. The 2lb. was 12inchs and the 3# was 13-14inches (wouldnt hold still). The 3# jumped, it was cool. 2nd and 3rd fish i ever caught in a float tube! Going back next week! And probably more often too because my dad can get KPIG radio up there.
Tips: dropshotting, try different colors until you get that one color.

Water Temp: Really hot fish
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Since everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, let me elaborate on my last post. I have an eye witness ( from a very longtime and well respected Los Gatos family I might add ) to the incident where one of lgrc members put a piece of wood over the ventpipe on the dam because it was to loud for there precious little ears. Notice how it is now covered so you can't get at it? How many years, how much money, how have we gone without a stable water level? And what about the poor fish that die every time they get sucked into one of those 480 volt 40 horsepower pumps?

Report: Here's some info you might try e-mailing to or snail mailing complaints to:
info@lgrc.org
or LGRC P.O. Box 188
Los Gatos, CA. 95031.0188
tlplaw@comcast.net
also, I found out that their "board of directors" will be having a meeting on May 26th at Los Gatos High rm 12. (sorry don't remember the start time) Look the club up, give em hell!
Perhaps, they'll get a clue if their e-mail is full of complaints now!
City: S.V.Tips: If you do complain, do so in a constructive manner, just "yelling obscenities" may feel good at the time, but doing so won't get anything done.
What's this post have to do with fishing you may ask? Well everything if you've lost lures by these peoples actions!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I am so fed up with dealing with looking out for the seemingly endless amounts of rowboats and power-boat loud speaker jerks that I have been just going elsewhere. it seriously is so bad after 3pm when they launch that it seems like a joke. I am willing to do anything it takes to help coordinate efforts to get them in check. so, basically, you can't fish the center of the lake when it's their time? SCREW THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I went out Tues to try the bass bite, fully expecting slow action with the high heat. Got one dink on a spinnerbait, nothing on plastics. I was surprised the trout bite was still happening for the damn bankies (not dam bankies). To give the rowers credit, someones sun umbrella launched into the water from the wind, and was heading to the far side of the lake. One of the gas boats broke off, chased it down, and returned it to it's owner. I don't think they realize the damage they can do to fishing with their boats when they buzz someone. Same thing with the idiot personal water craft, these morons just HAVE to come buzzing by to show off their idiotic purchase of a $4000 "water motorcycle", while sending a huge wake out and putting the fish down. I think they just don't know how obnoxious they are to fisherman.
City: SJTips: Very weedy in the first 20 feet, all the vegetation is underwater now, but it's last year's growth, old and dry, really no problem to tear through if your using 8lb test or better. I thought I would lose a lot more rigs, not a one!

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well, all I had to do was post and the Rowing Club would ruin my fishing again. I had caught 4 fish in the deep water off the big point by the firestation, and what do you know, some swipe in a powerboat comes through ten feet away from me. I told him to keep his distance and he just waved at me. I am glad I am not a violent man. Bite shut off there at that point after 4 small fish, I only caught 3 more all day, best was 2+. Pretty sad for this fine lake, I can't help but blame these flagrant morons for abusing their priveleges on the lake. I don't understand why they couldn't row on the OTHER side of the channel right there, there is plenty of room. I emailed my good friend at the C.A.R.B. and he said they have no jurisdiction over the lake, but we need to send letters to the parks district and Santa Clara County board of Supervisors if we want to complain. We don't need to be rude but we need to assert our presence. I have already emailed Fish and Game about the problem without response. Our license fees pay for the lake to be stocked while the rowing club does nothing to upkeep the reservoir and everything to disrupt the quality of the experiece for everyone else. I am willing to sport for a website so we can collect electronic signatures we need 3000 to ratify a sanction against them)to petition the courts over this at a state level if we need to. The last thing I want is some retard in a powerboat throwing wakes on me and yelling obscenities at his "crew" when I am trying to relax and test handpours. I am sick and damned tired of these people running up and down the lake at full speed without any regulation. I am going to contact the parks district tomorrow and see what they have to say for themselves about this. Lexington is unenforced and I have seen a lot of wrong stuff going on out there from guns being fired to junkies slammin dope on the shore and people blatantly poaching undersize fish or over the limit amounts of crappies and trout. The last thing I want is to be on the only decent local lake and have my experience ruined by some uppity Los Gatos Yuppies pretending to participate in an Ivy League sport. As anglers we are imparted certain rights on the water and these are ignored by these selfish bastards who refuse to recognize right of way to other boaters who have MORE right as fishermen to be on the lake than they do. As Big Harry said previously, they ARE the ones who petitioned to have gas boats off the lake and succeeded; yet they don't hesitate to hypocritically run gas themselves. A load of CRAP if you ask me. Sorry for venting, but I thought this was under control. Aparently NOT. Maybe we should arrange a meeting between all of us who fish here regularly and coordinate our efforts in a goal oriented manner. Enough is Enough.

Water Temp: ???
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I had a problem with those row-mo's last year, I emailed the president of the club and she handled their discipline problem, seems like they have a new crop of morons already this year. Who the hell gave them the right to run gas on that lake anyway? I had some wimp buzz me in the powerboat when I was in my tube about 10 ft from shore throwin' plastics. The way I see it, noone else can run gas on that lake and they are a private interest and we need to do some further investigation to see if they are under a permit to legally run gas there. We were out tubin' and some moron came rowing right in between us and the shore a couple weeks ago. He almost got beat. They are negligent and dangerous. Ex-Skater contact me and we'll see if we can do something about this BS. I would make that punk pay for my lures right there.
Other than that, you can catch tank trout with anything near the launch ramp. I got 3 on Crankbaits (shad rattletrap and wee-r) and even got one on a spinnerbait near the big point toward the back while bass fishing.
City: Santa CruzTips: The bass bite has been slow to fair, but there are some hawgs to be had if you put the time in. Fish the 17 side SLOW with brown/blue or smoke plastics. This lake still messes with my head, during the summer and fall it's all about green baits,black/blue during winter. Good luck nailin' em on watermelon right now. Spinnerbaits have produced when nothing else would get a bite, green/white and chart have been working pretty good as well as blue/black. Best 2 fish this year so far were 8 even and 6 1/2 (hand scale.). Both fish 5 inch reaper in Brown/Blue near the 'island'. Fish reaction baits on the edge of the flats when the wind kicks up, those fish are hammerin' shad like crazy. Some bites on Dropshot, most fish on a carolina rig over rocks, fish texas if you're having problems with the ever abundant weeds that are such a problem with the water level this high. I use a 1/2-3/4 oz walking sinker and about 2
