    Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well the bass fishing is still great with strikes all along the banks. If you fish more than 15 feet out from the waters edge you miss them all since they are hanging right along the shore lines. In 5 hours of fishing I landed more than 40 fish today using senko worms in watermelon color fished fast along the bottom. Bounce them right from shore and you will be sure to get them. The water is very clear and the fish are still waiting to see the water warm up to get on the beds. This is the best bass fishing I have seen on melones in 8 years so get out there and enjoy it while it lasts.

    Water Temp: 66-74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Started fishing one of the arms up river then moved to the south end of the lake. Caught a lot of bass and crappie. Did not catch many crappie up river so moved to the southern end, but did catch a lot of bass up there(mostly redeyes and spots). Almost caught a huge bass with a small crappie I was reeling in but the jig came out of the crappie's mouth and the bass took the crappie. Bass are everywhere there is cover.
    City: manteca

Tips: Caught some 2-4lb bass on the crappie tubes, but more consistent on dropshot and shad swimbaits which also produced 2-4lb bass.

    Water Temp: Upper 50's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out today at noon til 3:30 pm and caught over 30 bass (10" up to 3 1/2 lbs) using 6" worms in watermelon color and 4" grubs in gold with flake bouncing them from shore on the windy sides of the point arms near mid deep water. Alot of fish holding tight to structure areas in and out of the water. Look for trees in and out of the water, brush in the water, muddy shorelines (fish the edge of the clear) shady areas along shore, and anything that remotely looks like bass cover. Bouncing worms and grubs very fast was making a big hit with them today. Most of the smaller ones would fight over the bait as it hit the surface so I fished out to about 20 feet of depth and landed a couple of 3 1/2 lb large mouths on the same rigs. I will be going back out on Tuesday the 9th and will update a report on the bite.

Report: Fished from 4/7 to 4/13, we averaged catching 100 fish each day between the 2 of us. One of the day's we stopped counting after 200. I know this sounds unreal but it's true. We were using lucky craft rip baits and cinamin, brown red twin tail grubs. Anywhere creeks or waterfalls came into the lake up river. There is this one cove just before the second bridge on the left side that we could sit in for 2 to 3 hours at a time catching fish on almost every cast. My thumb was raw and bleeding from thumbing so many fish. What a blast. I swear this is true. all quality fish too. many 34 to 4 pound fish.
    City: Hayward

Tips: Find water running into the lake up river and throw a rip bait or grub and hold on.

    Water Temp: 72-74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished the coves in and around the Ironhorse campgrounds area and worked our way south to the powerlines. Saw tons on baby bass everywhere. I think they were Floridas. They loved a shiny/cyanblue crankbait, but the bigger ones didn't. They liked my husky jerk. Got 3 on that. Biggest was only about 2 lbs. We got hits on worms, but they never stayed on. It seemed like they were shortstiking our worms. Only saw one bass boat all day. Still too many damn wakeboarders and jetskiers, they're huge wakes really can screw up your presentation. Also, the water at camp smells funny, like sulfer. Hopefully they'll bite better as the weather cools in the next month or two.
    City: San Jose

Tips: Trailer hooks maybe? Some of the bass would follow our lures all the way to the boat. Also, bring a prefilled shower bag if your camping. Melones is beautiful though, drive safe on Hwy 4. It's hairy, especially at night.

Caught several other keepers betwenn #2-#4 on spinners baits and power worms. Landed a #7 channel cat on a power worm. Very few dinks. All fish were in great shape. The lake is way up and still rising. The #9 lm was probably one of the Florida bass planted a few years back. It was in good shape.

Report: Well finally made it out to New Melones! Ended up with a friend that wanted to go the last minute. Water was great, a bit windy in the early morning, then it laid down fine. All fish came from shore to about 20'. Dart headed, robo worms, and magic worms, green or brown worked well. No big fish but we ended up with about 40 bass total. Gotta love those spotted, and red eye bass. Glad I made it up, and made great time. Fished the river arms, narrows, and some points. Lots of flooded grass, and timber, the lake is in great shape and full.
