    Water Temp: 55 degrees give

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My son and I fished the Anglers Choice Gold City tournament on Sunday with 30 boats attending. You would have thought a 15.17lb bag for 5 fish would have won it but we settled for 3rd. The second place team had much the same bag as we did but the winners had a 7.5 kicker for a limit just over 16. We had close to 10 pounds in the boat by 8am and spent the rest of the day culling. And I must admit, my son caught the key fish we needed to have the weight we did. He was really on his game. I was content to net and weigh with out new Cul-m-rite scale. Now next Saturday is the Chico Conservation Bass Tourney I mentioned in an earlier post with signups and weighin from the dam. Its an $80 dollar entry which includes big fish, bar-b-q, and 1 ticket for the giant raffle. If the weather continues to warm, you can expect more fish on beds and bigger bags to be weighed. See you there.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Jigs, tubes and worms accounted for most fish for us. No reaction and just a couple pull downs on swimbaits. Creature baits should come into play for bedding fish, ie lizards, brushhogs etc. I believe most of the boats in our tournament were in or near the South Fork as the water these tends to warm quicker.

    Water Temp: 53-58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Yesterday I had a couple of great guys out and had a pretty good day with them. About 40 bass with about 6 over. We went to both ends of the South Fork and Middle Fork and fished back from there. Today I took out a father and son team and had a great time with them. Like yesterday, we had around 40 bass with 8 over including a nice 2.5lb smally. Today we fished the main body and parts of the West Branch. For the last two days we found bass in all areas on points and walls going into coves big and small. Jigs, drop shot, tubes and senkos.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Colors were green/blk and punkin/blk senkos, clear sparkle tubes, brn/purple and green/blk Paradise tackle jigs, and prism shad robo worms for drop shot.

Report: Ive been going to oroville the past two weekends, semi new to the lake, and have been doing really well using the drop shot with a roboworm as well as a t-rigged robo, averaging about 15 a day. Most fish were caught in the 8-14 ft. range. I was just wondering if anyone used spinnerbaits to catch spots there and if so what type and color, feel free to email me. Thanx

Tips: Patience!! and stay out of the wind.

Report: Well i went out fishing with the jitterbug again, he walked left and i walked right. What do you know, i find myself in a small cove with running water. Second cast i catch a nice spotty about 16" with a red tail. Caught 4 more on same worm (only one i had). 12"13"14"15"16" the 13" was quick release. 4/5 on bite to fish ratio. awsome day.

Tips: silver and blue sparkle wilow leaf spinner bait has worked for me when the fish are schooling up for bait fish. conditions have to be right.

    Water Temp: 56-59

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I guess a 22 degree drop in air temp even affects the spotted bass. I took 2 folks to Oroville Tues, wishing our trip could have been scheduled a different day because of the MAJOR cold front. It was supposed to be a light north wind - yea! - about 20-25 mph!!!! We did our best to find fishable water - almost impossible. We fished the south fork first and the bite was ok until the wind came up and the action just died! We moved to the middle fork and found some fish on a clay back with chunk rock and they were willing to bite Berkley green pumpkin 4" Power worms and MMIII 6" Robo worms. I think we only boated 8 or 9 spots, all in the slot. They had many bites that they simply missed because of the wind and the fact the bass just wern't active. We are hoping to work out another short afternoon trip when the weather is calmer. Only saw 2 bass boats the whole time!
    City: Yuba City

Tips: It is kind of fun to have a mental review of the lake structure when it is down 150 feet or so in the spring. I just can't give much helpful info because of the horrible conditions. I did throw jigs some to see if that was on - it wasn't. I didn't rip or do much else as I was helping clients cope with the wind.

    Water Temp: 47-56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Today I wanted to cover a lot of water from the top of the West Branch to the top of the North Fork. The water temp there is about the same, both at about 47. The North Fork was accessable all the way to French Creek but was pretty swift. The West Branch was accsessable just past the narrow walls. We found bass on points going into coves , in the coves and deep outside the coves from 25-35ft. Some of the points had fish holding from 5-10ft. and down to 25-35ft. Ended the day with 40+ but with only 4 over. Most of the bites came on Gitzits tubes in the green pumpkin and clear sparkle and Paradise Tackle jigs with Yamamotto twin tail grubs in brown/purple and green/pumpkin colors. Did not find a reaction bite as a pattern as of yet.
    City: Paradise

Tips: The fishing is only going to get better with the warmer weather coming this week.

Report: Saturday took my 8 year old son out for 4 hours. Fished Goat Ranch and Dark Canon. Took about twelve fish on drop shot. My son Zack took two nice slot fish. No reaction bite. I spent alot of time teaching my son how to tie knots. I used the three inch Berkley fluke tyle and purple Robo worms. A little of wind at times. I just wanted to get the boat out with my son
    City: Magalia

Tips: Not a lot to offer. Drop shot worked for me from 10 to 20 feet. No takers on tubes or jigs

    Water Temp: 58

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Concentrated on the South Fork from 10am-5:00pm. Figured the South Fork warms up first in early Spring. Partner and I caught about 20 fish with 2 double hookups. 16 in the slot, 4 over. I am always amazed at the pulling power of those Spots! 5 fish limit would be around 8#. All fish came in 18'- 22' of water off points. The exposed trees looked great but not too productive for us. I imagine the spawn will really be on in the next week or two in all arms.
The Lake is up about 50' since January. Only 150' to go!!!!
    City: Lake Oroville Ca.

Tips: Majority of fish caught on tube baits and jigs. No reaction bite for us. If you find fish come back around and make another pass. They seem concentrated once you find them.

Report: Yuba City Bass Busters put on a great tournament Sat. We had a great bite with over 40 bass for the day. Best 5 only 9.86lbs. Monday I took out a couple of great clients that have been fishing with me for a couple of years. They caught about 20 bass for the day and the biggest went 3.2lbs. Lots of high fives for the day. As for the bites, they came on jigs and tubes. It was very windy Monday and I think the guys missed a lot of soft bites.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Bass were on the points, walls leading into coves and in back of some coves. We fished the Main Body, West Branch and the North Fork.

    Water Temp: 52.9

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished that Yuba City Bass Busters tourney I told you about in an earlier post. 10.91 was good enough for 5th with 12 something winning it. Right at 30 boats and the weather might have kept some away. Jigs, senkos, worms, spinnerbaits and some top water were some baits mentioned. So you didn't go. Want another chance? You got it. On April 26 the Chico Conservation Bass Club holds their spring spectacular and for $80.00 you get entry, big fish option and a BBQ dinner. I have fished this with close to 90 boats entered. For info call Vi at 8728805 or Rich at 8720407. And I think your going to need more than 12 pounds to win this one. See you there.
    City: Paradise

Tips: We fished all the windy banks we could find, and it wasn't hard to find them. The baits mentioned above would be a good start. The lake is coming up each day and with it the debris so be aware.

    Water Temp: 46-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Watch out for the debre in the lake. It is what we deal with when the lake is rising almost a foot a day. Now at 744ft. elevation, it is a long way from the top but at least it is coming up. Tuesday's trip was another 20+ bass day. The bass came from inside coves, points and walls leading into coves. We missed a lot of soft bites and had severl break off. Bites came on Paradise Tackle jigs in the brown and green, on gitzits in craw, green/blk, green/red and clr/sparkle. Bucketmouth worms in the Oroville craw color also provided some bites.
    City: Paradise

Tips: The bass are in the coves, walls leading into the coves and on points. Lots of bass still suspending from 20ft, to 50ft.

Water Temp: 49 to 53 or so

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Just a reminder that this Saturday is the Bass Busters of Yuba City Spring Invitational at Lake Oroville. $80.00 entry and $10.00 big fish. Sign up at the dam 4 to 5.30. These guys put on a great tournament and it doesn't cost a fortune to fish it. In fact, you could probably fish this out of an aluminum boat if it had a live well. Should be a good day and fishing has picked up. If you need more info call Joe at 530-790-7011. See you there
    City: Paradise

Tips: Watch for debris, there is some big stuff floating especially on the West Side. As for fishing, well you'll have to find your own.

    Water Temp: 47-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: We had another 20+ day with 5 over on Saturday. Those aren't big numbers but it is encourageing to get bit more. This next week should be even better. The bass are stageing on points and a lot are moving into the coves. Most of the bites Saturday came in 2-5ft. and down to 20ft. The deeper bite came on Paradise Tackle jigs in the green/green and brown/purple. The shallow bite came on Zoom trick worms in watermelon/red and Gitzits in the watermelon/black,craw,and clear sparkle. I did not get any reaction bite but that bite will soon be on.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Target points and walls leading into coves and mud lines if they develop during the day.

    Water Temp: 47-54

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Wednesday's trip was very encouraging. We found most of the feeding bass in 5-10ft. The morning bite was better then the afternoon. We landed 25 for the day but lost a lot and had around 12 over. The numbers are'nt huge but it shows the bass are fineally coming up and getting ready to spawn. This next full moon should provide more numbers and size. Fished the West Branch and the slot. Hits came on rattle trap, shad color, tubes in clear sparkle, green, motor oil and craw colors and jigs in gray/purple and brown/cinnamon
    City: Paradise

Tips: Fished long stretches of bank to find a group of bass feeding and then another long stretch to find another group. No real pattern.
