Report: Launched at Lime Saddle. Fished from 6:30 am till 12:00 pm. landed over 100 fish. All fish came on crank baits. Casting at 45 degree angle to the bank in the morning. Paralelling the bank and fishing a little deeper after sun up. Alot of strikes near the boat. Blue and orange colors. Mixed bag of smallies and spots. Best five fish about 12lbs.
City: LincolnTips: Ride the crank bite as long as it lasts. Throw it all morning and afternoon. Short pauses and speed changes triggered strikes after cranking the bait down quickly.

Report: Fished Middle Fork with fish eating about anything you threw.Easy 50 fish day just no size. Best 5 went 8lbs. or so. Had one at least 6lbs follow my top water but didn't take it. Thats what I get for watching the fish instead of working the lure.
City: SacTips: Caught fish from shore to 20 feet. Hula or Spider grubs, dropshot worms, and crank baits took most fish with A few top water.

Report: I took a guy and his gal from the bay area to Oroville for their first ever bass fishing experience. They stayed at the bed and breakfast on the Feather River and said they loved it - and they enjoyed looking around the town of Oroville. He was a well traveled angler - fishing for almost everything except bass. I think he said he has caught over 60 species of fish. However, I think he knows he missed something! Friday we were greeted by strong north winds in the south fork (white caps) and the fishing was fair. Wind is not a friend of novice bass anglers fishing finesse baits! He caught 2 largemouth - one a little over 2 1/2 lbs. She lost a big spot at the boat. They did catch a lot of bass - around 45, but many were small and only 4 over the slot. We caught most of our fish split-shotting Berkely finesse worms - junebug and green pumpkin. Saturday was a different story!! They became instant pros in spite of the strangest May weather I have ever seen at Oroville. She started off with a 3 lb spot and then another at 2-5! Imagine!! This was in the main main body. We then moved to the Canyon Creek area - fishing willows and not doing so well. I decided we would fish some of my favorite walls near flats in the north fork. Did that every pay off!! The weather helped too - a south wind came up for about and hour and then died. About noon we had a beautiful spring day and the bass knew it - they turned on for us. We caught big spot after big spot on Berkley black grape 4" Power Worms. That is what they wanted (for us). Not to be out-done by the little lady, he stuck a pretty big spot for the Loomis 782 to handle. This fish was hot and weighed in at 3 lb 3 oz. She didn't look like she had spawned yet as several others did also. Most of these good fish were hitting at the 10 to 25 foot depth - I guess waiting to move up. At least one was spawned out. We landed over 30 spots and our best five went a little over 14 lbs. What a difference a day makes!!
City: Yuba CityTips: When I was getting close to the town of Oroville from my home in Yuba City, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. A huge winter-like fog bank was hanging over the town of Oroville. One sees this in January but not in May! When we got to the lake we saw fog actually on the water. Wow! One rarely sees that kind of fog after March. It cleared in about 2 hours and warmed up nicely. We had a little top-water action on a Sammy. He brought his fly-rod and actually caught a small bass and had several follow his popper. Had the weather been warmer I think he would have caught several. I don't understand why more fly-fishermen don't fish for bass in the spring on lakes rather then just ponds. As for the bass, I felt the two days showed that bass were in all stages of the spawn. There should be some quality bass in the shallows for a few more weeks - maybe! Be prepared for lots of dinks - they are everywhere!

Report: Took my wife fishing. She loves to throw grubs and did she haave a great time. We caught over 50 nice bass. Started off with the steak special at the blueberry twist. Great way to start the day with a full belly. Hit the middle and south fork.Fished points and rocky banks. Could have ripped but wanted the wife to do her thing. We would have caught more but ran out of the good grubs. They had a lot of blue and red sparkley stuff in them. Fisherman's had them in one of there tubs. Not a brand name but you could catch 10 fish on each one. Lake is beautiful with all the water in it.
City: orangevaleTips: Bite is wide open. Bring lots of dart heads and grubs. Fish till your thumbs bleed and the stop.

Water Temp: 51-58
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I took my 8 year old daughter up to chase some bass as she had been asking me all week. Picked her up some minners and minicrawlers and had a blast. We found several large creeks in the south fork that were loaded. For a half an hour, every cast either got a fish, or lost a minnow. I jerked a pointer mostly and had a 2.75 and 3 other overs. dartheads got bites and fish, but I caught better quality fishing faster. I figure she caught a dozen and I managed about 20. I think this is a sign of things to come.
City: Yuba cityTips: I found 58 degree water in several washes, but the fish were not active in those places. Keep moving around.

Water Temp: cold to 53
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: fished north fork, really slow caught 9 spots biggest 4.41lb. on a pumkin lizard w/purple flake carolina rigged, the bigger baits seem to catch a little bigger fish as earth tone worm fish were all under 1.5lbs. 2 days ago got me a 5.27lb spot on a chart/shad lucky craft ripbait i let it sit while eating a sandwich,i thought i had moby on.no rip fish today.what a change from shasta as everyday your at ramp at jones valley somebody is getting there vehicles vandalized or ripped off,not a top priority for law enforcement as they have so many bodies and murders in jones valley they are short handed, but are appreciated!!!!.launch out of bridge bay if you go to shasta never a problem there!.
City: reddingTips: fish slow, then fish slower.i love oroville it is better than any lake in northern calif, and never have any problems and the locals will not only help but will offer baits to you to help.THANKYOU OROVILLE LOCALS AND GOOD FISHING TO ALL.

Water Temp: 46 to 52
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: We started out on the West Branch and then fished the North Fork. Early morning top water bite was not on, crank bait bite was not on,so we started with drop shot, tubes and senko's to pick up our bass. At the end of the afternoon we had 52 bass 4 were close to 3# and 12 were 2# plus.
City: ParadiseTips: Change methods until you find out what the bass want. I would like to crank all day but if its not working find out what the bass want. We keyed on points, coves, walls and fresh water. We just kept moving and changing.

Water Temp: 48-53
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My buds Todd and Rich were with me on Sunday, had a fun day of Casting on the lake! Launched from the Spillway and headed out to find some coves. Rich caught a 3.6 spot on a blade and that was it for the day. Started early and got off the lake at 3 PM. The water on the main lake was pretty clear, I could see my baits a little ways down around 5-6 feet in places. Main lake temps were from 48-50, some of the coves got to around 53.6*. We just couldn't get a pattern going. There was a 100% Bass tourney going on that day, I here tell the winning weight was 18Lbs!
City: Plumas LakeTips: With the rain expected on Monday and Tuesday, who knows what will happen to the clairity of the water. But with the warmer weather coming on maybe some more of the bass will move up closer to the banks despite the outcome of the water clairity due to the rain. Patience!!
