Report: Fished the lake both Sat. and Sun. with a buddy. We had a small club tourney Sunday out of the spillway ramp. Got on the water Sat around 9:30am found a freind and his wife fishing about 3-4 miles up towards lime saddle and started fishing by them, my buddy got one right a way on a pig n jig, We then drop shot, darthead, and texas rigged worms bite was slow. Threw brown 1/8oz. tubes the rest of the day and cuaght a lot, every one in the slot. Sunday morning we went back towards lime saddle and threw reaction baits for an hour and a half, one fish in the slot. Started throwing tubes and had 3 over fifteen within 2hrs. We caught 6 over fifteen in one particular stretch and got pushed out by debris from all boats running and gunning. Ended up taking 2nd place with a limit of fish over 15" for 10.02lbs. 1st I believe was 10.14 or 10.17 and 3rd was 10.02 as well but we had a slightly bigger fish than they did.
    City: susanville

Tips: Cast to bank and work slow, slow, slow, try hitting the red clay points with flats in between them first, use scent enhancers-the bite is really light without them and you will miss alot of fish.

Report: Had a great time with wife marian. Caught 2 limits over 15 inches. Largest 3lbs. Fish were in the 15 to 20 foot range. Jigs tubes and 6 inch worms. Very lite bite even on jigs? Wife only caught 2 this time but caught 8 2 weeks ago. I kept telling her the bite is very lite.
    City: orangevale

Tips: fishing between fronts can be tough. slow down and let the bait stay in one place five to ten seconds before moving it. Use lots of smelly jelly or fish attractant in the stained water. re apply frequently. Also keep checking your line for little abrasions. Lost a couple of nice ones when the line snapped.

Report: Tried to go up north fork but the debree pile is all the way to the slot junction. Lots of logs, the debree went from shore to shore so we went back to the slot area.
The wind came up around nine and the fish stacked in 15' of water off shallow points. The bite was hot and heavy till the wind stopped. We used jigs and drop shotted.
We crank fished in the morning for an hour, very slow then the hot bite for two hours, then our bite stopped. Off the water by 1:30.

    Water Temp: 45

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: With my good friend Joe Evert we fished the Loomis Basin Bass Master Turkey Shoot. Cloudy and chilly. Previous weeks we had been catching fish on blades, cranks, drop shot, rip, split shot and jigs but this day we did not get much of a reaction bite but that was ok because the jib bite has been off the hook. With 8 over 15" we weight 5 fish for 10.84 which just enough to win over i beleive 10.42 at least 35-45 fish for the day.
    City: Roseville

Tips: Jigs brown & purple, but try other things you just never know.

Report: Fished a little turkey shoot sat with 10 boats.Started at first bridge nothing. Went to bidwell marina. one 15 incher on brass and glass. Ripped a couple 14s. Went to main body about 10am cranked a 17 incher in one foot of water? Mike Dean was ripping smaller ones in about 15 foot of water. All fish were over 13 inchs but not 15.As that bite slowed I went to jigs and tubes. Both worked well. We ended up with 3 over 15" and maybe 20 bass total. Not bad for a cold windy day.The reaction bite was real good until the clouds blew away. Lost 3 fish on the hook set when the line would pop? Guess the rocks take a little out of your line. I won't be using 8 lb again on jigs. Two teams came in with limits over 15".one team had 4 Jack and I had 3 keepers and I don't know how many guys had 2 or 1 because no reason to weigh them with limits being weighed.Winning pattern was jigs on points 45 degrees 15 foot to 20. Fish slow.
    City: orangevale

Tips: Use 12lb floro cargon line and check it. 3/8 to 1/2 oz brown jigs. Tubes worked well also. Rip if clouds. Yes they are hitting cranks and rip baits worked slow.

    Water Temp: 75.2-76.8

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: The bite is slowing down a bet, but still some good 2.0 - 2.5 lbers. For the Anglers from Bassin Bass Masters (out of Loomis) it was a small Turkey shot with ten boats leaving the spillway at safe sun light. Dennie Howard and I teamed up, our first stop was canyon creek for our first three 15" keepers. Using JK jigs (hand made by me) in brown/purple with a #180 grub or a cinnimon/purple flake. Around the rocks I was using 12 and 15 pound floralcarbon line to make sure I got my jig and fish to the boat. Make sure that after draging across the rocks or snaging that you retie your jigs. The rocks are tuff on your line.
When the cold wind came up we moved off that point into Bidwell Canyon Marina along the shallow banks finding more bass in the size of 13-14 in range. Most of our bigger fish came in around the 45 deg banks. The winners had 10.88 with five fish. When Dennis and I got the Oroville in the morning I found that my cat was in the boat coming along for the ride. So the cat and I spent the day together. Check your boat for any stragglers before leaving home.

Tips: Pop your jig off the rocks and hang on.

    Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I hadn't been out on the lake in nearly two months, entirely way too long. Started out with my go to 1/2 oz br/purp hand tied jig. First cast landed a 2.4...good start. I went to lift him into the boat and was surprised when my rod bent like it did. Caught a number close to this size within about an hour. My pops then landed our best fish for the day a 3.4# spot followed by a largemouth I cought the weighed 3.1. To say the least, we were pretty excited about this considering we've not been out in some time. The larger spot came on a custom poured Webbs baits 6" work on a t-rig, the others all came on either a tube or 1/2 oz br/purp jig. This time of year i'll change my jig color and trailer around depending on water color and light conditions...but I was lazy yesterday and fished with a jig I had on since November!! We didn't weight all of our fish, but I would be comfortable saying we had close to 13#'s. Once the sun broke through and a little breeze started blowing, the bite go much tougher. I think had we stayed on some of the fish we would have kept on them, but we moved around a bit looking for other concentrations of fish. Great quality fish, I'm glad the lake got a good stirring!!!
P.S. Watch out for debris...there is a big slug of it in the WB upriver from Lime Saddle. There is also a bunch of it about 8' from the current water level, once the lake starts to creep up, this will be liberated, as always, stay safe (and save yourself some repair money!!!)

Report: 2 reports in 1 year, hey why not, tis the season. Out of Lime Saddle at 9:15. Only 2 trailers in the parking lot. Lots of wind today and clouds, no rain. Thought a blade or rip bait might work. Nothing on the blade but did get hammered once on the rip bait. Didn't stick with it though and went back to the jig I used 2 days before. Stayed right there in the marina to start and managed some smaller fish in behind the houseboats. Moved deeper into the West Branch and on to a bank I had seen some boats on a couple days before. It proved to be a good move and my best was 2.50. The quality of the fish improved as the day went on. For the amount of water pouring in one would think there would be more color to it, but where I was fishing, there wasn't. The fish are right on the bank, I mean if you throw 2 feet off the bank your throwing behind them. I caught 19 fish on 1 jig before I lost it on some rip rap. Reports indicate a gitzit bite as well.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Like I reported on Saturday, just put the trolling motor down and fish. Put the bait on the bank or just short of it and work it in.

    Water Temp: 55.8

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Thought I'd get a little more mileage out of my 05 fishing license so went out this morning. Didn't get on the water till 9 but was surprised to find a few trailers in the parking lot. Planned on drop shotting a new bait I have but the first rod out of the locker had a jig on it so I thought I'd give it a try. 3 casts later I had my first fish. Never left site of the I-70 bridge and caught 15 really nice fish on the same jig that had been tied on from 2 weeks before, a Bass Patrol 3/8 ounce with 3.0 hook and brown/purple. I used Yamamoto #221 double tail grub trailer. Never found groups of fish to drop shot and never tried any other bait. It was absolutely beautiful out there and quite, I mean really quite. The best bite seemed to be on or to the left or right of a point. I did fish a lot of useless bank but didn't feel like running around. Hey to all of you that celebrate the holidays, all the best to you and yours and to those of you that don't, all the best to you and yours as well. Good fishing.
    City: Paradise

Tips: Did fish slow, but not sure that it mattered. Just love fish when they thump a jig and all of the ones I caught really ate it. Lake is up a bunch and there is debris in the water. Not sure you have to run around to catch fish, just put the trolling motor down and go for it.

Report: I fish the Angler's Choice Semi Pro Team at Oroville Lake, My team partner Linda Henderson was unable to fish the tournament, for personal reason. I fish the midddle fork using Rainbow worms # 99, which had been working for me during the week. Came in with 10.41 lbs. for third place.
The tournament was very professional, and friendly.
It was a great day to be fishing.

Most of the fish on dart head, with Rainbow worm #99, and tubs. some reaction bait the first hour, It's was a great day for fishing. Got to used the new Lowrance LCX 26 HD for the first time, put it up front for now, with the color it is a lot easer to see. It's great.
