    Water Temp: 70 degrees

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The water cleared up since I last fished. I use weightless worms and waited the first 2 hours, no bites... then I switch to cranks, still no bites, used my Rat-L and had some followers around the docks but no bites. Finally, I switch to spinnerbaits... and bang got a 2 pounders on my first cast, released him and cast again then bang a 3 pounder released him too. That's about the only bites I had the whole day. I didn't see any cruisers at all, maybe they'd went DEEP and apparently the spawn is over. One guy in his bass boat caught a 10+pounder LM bass at 7pm, he was hollering like crazy when he caught it with his wife or gal pal, he was dropshotting with plastic and the lunker nail it 25+ feet DEEP. The trout bite is still spotty around the boat launch... caught a good dinner size fish for two.. a 3lb trout. The action is always great for trout at San Pablo.
    City: Concord

Tips: Walk around the tullies and scout the brushes/ weeds to see if there are lunkers protecting their swimming frys. If they'd aren't there then the lunkers are DEEP. Use spinnerbait around the docks and tullies, good action in the 1-2 pounds range. The lunkers will swim in at dusk looking for their dinner... try BLUEGILL color rapalas / spinnerbait and weightless plastics or crawlers.

    Water Temp: 69 degree

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: New to this forum. Here's my take, slow as heck at the boat launch, alot of crappies and bluegills running off with my weightless crawlers, thought for a while a bunch of hungry lunkers taking it. Alot of good size trout caught at around 6am to 11am, then the bite just shut down for trouts. Basses cruising in at dusk around 6pm looking for their dinner attacking bluegills and crappies. The crappies are SMALL 3-4 inches TOPS, so are the bluegills 2-3 inches. I didn't see any LUNKERS cruising but some 3-4 pounders females. One guy caught a 4 pounders with eggs on Rat-L but he let it go ASAP, probaly still spawning around the area, he'd told me he caught it around 7am. Things should pick up after spawing when the hawgs eat up to get their weight back around the tules feeding on blurgills, crappies, and trouts. Use weightless worm on 6lbs test spinning outfit, they'd hit it around 5minutes sitting, a few caught basses around 2-3 pounds using this method.
    City: Concord

Tips: Rat-L traps in the morning up till 8am, weightless worms thru out the day around the tules and weeded area, lunkers come in around 6pm to feed ranging 12lbs and up.

Report: I guess there are still people claiming 20 fish days at SPD, so very sad people out there that like to give false reports, Last time I'm posting in regards to this issue here. You can't do 20 fish days at SPD unless your day consists of a full year. over 15 years I've fished this lake and all the bass fisherman I've spoke with have never caught 20 fish. good luck and this report blows now because of stupid people.
    City: san pablo

Tips: plastics is the best chance at a 20 fish day here.

Report: I ran across this discussion when it first started, and I'm surprised it is still raging strong.
I haven't fished San Pablo for about 10 years, so I can't comment on how fishing is now. I can say that back in the late 80's to early 90's, bass fishing was pretty good at times. By good I mean limits or near limits (and yes I have had 20 fish days for the boat). Split-shot original weenies and witch's T were the consistant producers. We had a couple of regular customers who only fished Worm King original weenie's, and bought them by the hundred just for SP. I had good bites fishing Shad Raps with Fire Jon in the back of the Preserve in his old little aluminum. I've had fish to 7.5 on Zara Spooks from the ramp side of the Preserve, and the largest I had come over the gunnels of my boat (13 Whaler) was a 14.75, weighed at the HQ, then released where we caught her.
Scow canyon also produced pretty consistant results, as did the point and shoreline across the Wall. Most trees had fish.
    I had very few skunks.
I am no super star fisherman guru, nor do I claim I can produce these results today. I just want to share some of my experiences with this lake. Please take it for what it's worth.

    Thanks and tight lines,
    Brian K.
    FISHNFF

PS. A year or so after the lake opened, we had 100+ days on crappie (all small) across from the ramp. For years after than, only caught a few! go figure.
Also had limit days fishing cats in those big dips across the ramp. Chicken livers with a sliding weight.

Report: To Mr. Concern Fisherman Perhaps you don't fish San Pablo that much or maybe you just have no Idea who I am well if you fish San Pablo that much you should have known me already I have build my reputation in fishing for trout in there theres a lot of regular fisherman there knows me and to answer your Question I did not say that adults are not welcome I just think that if you are grown up means you should have better chances catching fish than the beginners why 16 and under well according to CA Law they don't need license and I'm accuiring clubs. and Org. and if you are an individuals you need your parents Perhaps you should learn how to read thoroughly lastly I have 3 kids myself 2 daughter and 1 son I bet you didn't think of that unless of course your stupid enough just to say what comes in your mind and since you are concern meet personally perhaps yourself needs some lessons by the way I fish in the main rec. And why Am I teaching fishing for Free well I thought maybe its the other way to help Others to enjoy and benefit the outdoor not just myself. and by the way Ask Wayne, Philly, Patrick, Jose, Camille, and other regular who fish in the main rec.

Report: SP Rob - Just so you know - that is not me posting anonymously below. I don't post anonymously. I emailed you because I felt like you were misrepresenting the fishing at San Pablo to try to drum up business for your guide service.

You are the one who brought it back online with your post to the reports that got deleted. Pablo is being it's usual self this year, maybe tougher even than any other year. 4 trips for me and only 4 bass so far. I averaged 1.7 bass per trip over the last 3 years at Pablo. Yeah I fish for big fish. But 20 fish a day there is just about impossible. Maybe you found a school of spots on the rock wall or something on one trip, I don't know. I just dislike false advertising as a principle, and I do know what I'm talking about at San Pablo having fished it 41 trips for 11 fish over 10. This isn't made up info, this is facts.

If you show me some pics of you in the same clothes with 20 bass over 12" in size from Pablo on the same day, I'll be happy to reconsider my views.

Report: Just an FYI, I've fished this lake since I was a kid. There are big bass here, not alot but big, 20 fish days are near impossible, even for the likes of pros. People stated they have 20 fish days are over not speaking the truth. Again, this is just a general FYI.

Report: Hey Sp rob I have nothing against you as a person at all period. What I have a problem with is the fact that after a year or so fishing on a tough lake you seem to think that you are qualified to guide there. San Pablo is tough and I still doubt very much your claims of 20 fish average days. Be honest and tell people that the lake is tough and that they do have a shot at a fish of a lifetime. Call around and ask some other guides how much expierence they have I doubt you will find one with a years worth. Good luck out there I am sad to see that you will no longer be posting on here. Good luck with the guide service just make sure you have all the needed insurance and stuff before you take people out.

Report: Johnny, what's up man? Seems you just can't let little stuff go? I don't understand what I did in the first place to make you upset with me. I started my guide service to help pablo anglers with catching a few more fish. This is a difficult lake to learn and mostly everybody I've talked to said they struggle with the fishing out there. So whether I get a guide or not it's all right with me but I guess not for you. I can't figure out your problem with me? To answer your questions: I have not been to pablo recently because 1) I have had a tournament every weekend for the past 5 weeks 2) been waiting for the water to clear (when it does should be awesome!) Also, if you would like to book a trip please feel free to e-mail me and we can get you set up. Also, I am licensed and bonded by CA DFG. As far as clients go I have a trip booked next weekend for 2 guys to Berryessa should be an unbelieveable bite. Oh, if anybody is seriously interested I'm running trips to pablo, berryessa,CA Delta (bass-year round and stripers- sep-Jan),oroville and clear lake rates vary depending upon location, length and # of passengers. E-mail me for all other info.

Report: A friend and I went to the launch at the end of the day about 3pm-6pm. We were fishing from the bank tossing swimbaits(SR7's from Outdoor Pro). My buddy hooks his first swimbait bass at 5.1 pounds. Very nice fat female, that was the only fish for 3 hours of fishing.

Tips: Let the lure sink and begin a slow steady retrieve with a twitch or two thrown in.

Report: There are NO legal guides for San Pablo. EBMUD requires a permit to guide on San Pablo and there are currently no permits issued. So if anyone is guiding on San Pablo they are doing so illegally.

Tips: If you hire a guide for anywhere in California be sure to check that they are licensed and bonded as required by law.
