Report: Well, I hit the old pablo for the first time this year. I should have brought SP Rob because I got my ass handed to me. Not a bite all day. The water is up really high with tons of floating debris. I tried all my usual favorites with no takers. I did troll for a bit and managed to bring a 5lb trout to the boat. I talked to a few people on the lake and there was no joy from what I heard. I talked to a guy I knew from years past and he commented on this website and the new guide in town. We had a good laugh. I did get a few emails after my post about the new guide and they were all positive and funny. They all agreed that he was a joke. A years experience? I mean do you have a photo albumn that you show to perspective customers? Is your huge 6lb fish on the cover? If I were to hire a guide and pay him good money I want him to come highly reccomended and have more expierence than I do on a given body of water. If you are the man SP Rob start posting some photos on here. Oops I forgot you have to get some customers first. Good Luck
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Beats me, the lake is in pretty bad shape right now. Visibility was less than 6 inches when I was there. When in doubt book a trip with Sp Rob you will get at least 20 fish.

Report: Well, through the power o the Internet I ound out that the guide rom below is Robert R. the shipping and Online support guy or Anglers Choice. Guess he is multi talented. I I go on a trip with you to Pablo and catch more ish then you do will I still have to pay?

Report: I see rom the post below that there is a new guide in town. Have you really ished San Pablo or about a year? WOW! You now think that you can guide there? Give me a break man. You say you average 20 ish a trip(is that Bass and Trout) didn't you say you caught 2 last time? Gotta catch 38 next time to keep up your 20 average. I have ished Pablo or YEARS!!! and I have never caught 20 bass. Maybe I just suck at bass ishing. I just don't want you to get peoples hopes up by saying you average 20 ish a day. Look at all the reports on here rom the past years and ind none on here with 20+ bass or 10+ or that matter. I have reports on here dating back to 2000. Your tips section reads like a bass magazine. Red/brn crankbaits, white and char spinnerbaits. Man I would have never thought o that? You suggest trying ripbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and topwater. What else is there to try? How about a 208 Senko and a black/blue jig. Maybe drop shot a 4" Aarons magic robo worm. I don't mean to be so harsh but by your own admission you have not even ished this lake or a year. Do you really think you are qualiied to take peoples money and take them to this lake. When somebody asks how long you have been ishing SP do you tell them in months or year or so?
    City: Walnut Creek

Tips: Pablo has BIG ish in it. I you think you are going to go there a catch 20+ you will ail your next drug test unless you are SP Rob. Hey man best o luck with the guide service I truly wish you the best o luck just be honest with your clients and tell them that they do have a shot at the ish o a lietime, but not 20 in a day.

    Water Temp: 43 - 53

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Went out Sunday with verteran Northern Caliornia angler Jimmy Mac to try and ind a hog at San Pablo. We took Jim's rig with the 4 stroke and he was resh o a 10+ day at Anderson. Stayed in the south and tried a variety o oers: Senko, black lippy, Jig, blades, buzz bait, spook, jerk bait, even a neon crankbait, Texas rig, carolina, split shot, drop shot. Obviously we never igured it out. Same results on all counts. A big at zero. Really muddy and no one seemed to igure it out. Saw one rench group with a trout and another guy in a Kyack landed a nice trout as well. Couple guys at the ramp said no luck up north either. The only saving grace was it didn't rain. Get em next time!

    City: Martinez

Tips: Look or clearer water and ish standing cover in 5-10 t. o water. Fish are just starting to stage to spawn ater this storm breaks there should be a rush into shallow water. Report: First trip to pablo o the new season. Fished rom 1-5 today and we got SOAKED! Did manage two nice ish through the rain and wind. One went 3+ the other 1 1/2-2 lbs. City: Martinez

Tips: Fish standing cover in 5-10 t. o water. Look or the clearer water and stick with the drop shot. also the lake is up 5+ eet rom last year and its still rising there is a lot o GOOD submerged cover that used to be out o the water.

Report: This report is strictly tips or all you Pablo anglers that struggle to catch ish on a lake that I think ranks as one o the best in Caliornia. I've been ishing San Pablo or about a year now and let me tell you I usually average 20 ish a trip sometimes more. This lake has a tremendous amount o 5+ lb. ish and the amonut o 2's and 3's is staggering. With a surprising population o ish over 12 lbs. In the past year we've seen ish up to 6 lbs. landed o my boat and more 2-3 pounders than i've ever caught anywhere and this is without ever picking up a swimbait seriously or ishing last year's spawn. WATCH OUT THIS YEAR!
    City: MTZ

Tips: First o all San Pablo has a lot o underwater structure o shore. So any technique that can be worked along the bottom deep to shallow will be eective i.e.(drop-shot,carolina rig, split-shot etc.) the plastics colors I use are very simple i my presentation is on or near bottom stick with darker colored plastics, my colors are (blk/grape,wtrmlon/red and green weenie) i i'm drop-shotting i like lighter colors to mimic the shad(oxblood/cinn.,wht,baby bass or any other shad pattern) this is how you'll usually pick up better quality ish. On the reaction bait side try rip baits, crank baits, spinnerbaits or top water. For the rip baits I like Lucky crat's bevy shad in ghost minnow or numbers and a pointer 100 in rainbow trout or ghost minnow or size. Spinner baits in 1/4 oz. wht/chart willow nickel blades will produce very well around trees and on wind blown banks always use a trailer hook. Topwater I like spooks, sammy 115 or lucky crat splash tail all in shad pattern will produce early and on cloudy days. Crank baits I like anything in a brn/crawdad patern around trees, points or drop os. Well, besides those and a trout pattern swimbait your set. p.s. or anyone looking to see actually how thats done I will be starting a guide service on SP e-mail me or rates and other ino Good Luck And i you see Fish Chris he'll probably have another toad so ind out WHERES HE FISHIN'

Report: went over there wiht my dad and reind in my boat at about 4pm tues looking or cats, spend 20 bucks on permits and bait/tackle and didnt catch shit. Its wierd i heard the cats are doing really well, but we didnt get a bite with 3 rods out there. And about bass, that was the only slight action i got, was when i was throwing a brush hog to a tree, and rock wall, when i got aew bites. So that told me that the bass are doing good, i i could get bites rom just sitting in one spot. should have gone or bass.

Tips: Catish suck over there or me, im sure other guys do better. I eel that its all about location over there. I tried 3 spots, and no bites on bait. But the bass seem to be biting well in trees, rock walls, and points on sot plastics. Good luck.

    City: San Francisco

Tips: Short Leader 1 1/2-2 eet but not more than 2 eet during summer ish (Trout) tend to stay deeper and CAST as ar as you could dont use more than 3/4 oz o sliding sinker 4-8lbs test line by the way Shawn I guess you are mistaken when you said it is bad time to ish now in SP it depends on spot and skills you have. I'll be in SP Probably this SAT I'll be ishing in main Rec i you have doubt about me. come and see me there i can lend you a hint ;)
