Report: Launched out of Bridgebay. Started out throwing a Lumker Punker Jr. Spook. I covered as many points as I could. The fish seemed to be about 10 feet off the points. I landed 12 spots. The biggest being 4.7 lbs. Also, I landed a 6lb Rainbow. Off the water by 10:30
    City: Eureka

Tips: Make long casts around the points. You willstay in the strike zone longer. And you will not spook the shallow fish.

Report: Fished a CDFG tournament this past weekend. I Sucked! I can catch a bunch in the 13" to 15" range, but I can't seem to catch any big ones. What do I need to do? Am I fishing the wrong places or do I need to use larger lures? Any help for me out there?
    City: Montague

Tips: On Friday it was sunny and warm we caught them in the willows, They devoured Senkos! In the rain on Saturday, we caught them off steep rocky faces on rootbeer colored Kalin 3" grubs. On Sunday, it was cold and breezy, then sunny. We caught then on submerged points. I caught fish on 4" & 6" Senkos in several dark colors. Caught the biggest on a purple Senko spring lizard.

    Water Temp: 60's

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: went up for a week 9-13th. caught 174 bass up to 2-1/2 lbs. mostly spotted. some on beds. Highlights when my son ryan caught a 1-1/2 pound crappie on a rip bait. I put on a crappie jig right away and caught and landed a 2lb-5oz crappie (picture coming soon) caught 3 more crappie over 1-1/2 lbs. These were the biggest I've seen ever in shasta and i have been fishing here since the late 70's. the 2.5 was my biggest ever. i have caught many near 2 lbs in lake berryessa and clearlake but never shasta. the guys at shasta marina have never heard that size coming out of shasta before. Have great spot where i caught them and all i can say is hit trees in deep water near shore. 15-35ft. will post pictures soon.
    City: pleasant hill

Tips: Rip baits, drop shots (some with tubes)craw cranks, and spinner baits did most the damage. white/yellow crappie jigs for crappie.

    Water Temp: low 60's.......

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Spotted bass fishing in the Sac arm near Sugar Loaf resort was good. Lots of bites, relatively small fish, but very aggressive. Saw many on beds already. Trout trollers were getting spots along with their trout.

They hit everything. Most fish were picked up in 20' of water using grubs and various plastics. Drop and split shot rigs with wacky worm presentation. I was float tubing, so I only covered a small body of water.

Question, we only saw a handful of fish over 2 lbs. How do you find better quality at Shasta?
    City: Pleasanton

Tips: I did best when the wind and rain pushed a chop on the shore producing a stain in wind exposed coves.

    Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished Friday and Saturday. Friday was the main body and Pitt. Caught fish on a variety of baits, senko's, rattle trap, spinner bait, tube, and minnows. Caught approx 30 fish. On Saturday we fished Sacramento arm. Fishing was better here. Senko's, spinner baits, and minnows did the best. Caught approx 41 fish. Some of the fish would pick up the senko and carry it a short distance then drop it. Sounds like a bedding fish?? Water is semi clear to approx 10 feet, then kind of cloudy.
    City: Rough and Ready, Ca

Tips: We didn't find any fish in the back of coves yet. The further into a cove we went, the less fish we saw.

Report: saw a lot of fish crusin the shore today in the sugar loff area real clear water .found water with some color past arbuckle flats made the fish a lot easyer to catch, main arm of the lake steep shore and the fish aer almst on shore up there real close ,with in a 2foot range .,the two of us caught 70 up to 3.5 ,small minnow bait work the best when the water wormd up
    City: redding

Tips: let it stay still a long time,it seem that when you cast it would spook them and then they would come back .just like when you through a rock in the water had a great time take your kids and put on a bobber and throw a real minnow out and enjoy the fun they have setting the hook almost like top water ,seeing that bobber going under

Report: What a great day, my son-in-law and I went out for a full day on our great Lake Shasta and it didn't dissapoint. Throwing blue/salt and pepper soft curl tail grubs, on the steepest banks we could find, adjacent to 40 to 80 feet of water, let the grub slowly sink to the bottom and don't move it for 10 seconds then hop it and repeat, this dead stick method brought us 30 spots, to 2.5 pounds and they are such great fighters that on light line, and medium action spinning takle, what a great day. The shade seemd to produce better than the sun side and the lake is very clear. It is the beggining of the great spring fishing we have grown accustomed to here at Shasta. Fish came out of 10 to 20 feet of water.
    City: Redding

Tips: Let the lure dead stick on the rocks for a while before moving it, any resistance set the hook, and hang on. Have a great day fishing.

Report: Fished out of Antlers on Friday afternoon 2/17, with my nephew Jason, who's new to bass fishing. Fished points and some coves but couldn't get any bites on 4" green weenies. We couldn't keep the bass off the minnows though. On Saturday we fished harder, but the minnows were not performing well. We caught bass on 4" green weenies near brush and trees, caught an 18 1/2" rainbow trout on a green weenie near some brush and a 17" rainbow on a silver Panther Martin deluxe with a green trout power worm trailer. Both trout had beautiful salmon colored fish and I'm looking forward to smoking them. Took my lil' brother Bob and his son Theo for a ride around, great weather. Lots of bank fisherman out....Guys!!! I'd like to see more kids out there fishing!!!!
    City: Montague

Tips: Minnows! Points might have bigger bass, but we had more fun in the coves
