Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I know for sure, MGM, does not pay me any money, but I have been catching lot's of fish with thier
product/s. And now the new Hoo Dun-it has been good also. Like the Green melon and dark Root beer
in worms and double tail grubs, either alone or as
a trailer on jig. The new owners have added some colors that John did not have and are trying to make a good product. Now you can either buy them
or not, free choice, Mr. Pen. I know I will, along with Yamamoto baits and am satisfied with both products. I even buy a few Robo products. Like all of us, Jerry, is free to buy, talk obout
any product he desires, there still is free speech
and a few rights available in this country. Bill K

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Jerry- How much is MGM paying you to promote the Hoo-Dun-it worm? It is pretty obvious you are targeting the WON bass team anglers for next weeks tournament because you are the only posts in the last week and seem to know not only about the MGM worm but the business behind the worm? Just curious, no response necessary.

Water Temp: 73.2-75.1
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Where to start with this report.
Went to Jones Valley at 0530, pulled around the top of the hill on the dirt road and am confronted with a sea a cars and trucks, start down the hill slowly and stop again, bright lights on and start counting vehicles. `143 cars and 70 plus trucks with trailers behind them parked everywhere. I am figuring I won't be able to get in the water. The road into Jones Valley resort has a huge sign telling people to use the RAMP #2 which now clearly means the low water ramp. I mosey on down and actually find a spot right next to the ramp. I manuever my stuff around all the parked cars and get it in, unloaded and park. The Jones Valley resort is clear out and adjacent to the low water ramp. I see the tags in the windows of vehicles and notice some from Silverthorn also. Find two cars and one truck with their windows smashed out and covered with an inch of dust indicating they have been there a while. I figure I will keep the ramp in view and not run to far as I know that on a friday there will be a lot of houseboats coming in prior to 9AM with those folks preparing to leave.
Go to the opposite bank south of the resort and start throwing a spook at 0610 and had a ball till 0700 with 24 fish, the largest was a 2.24 and the rest were dinks, had one jump off that might have went 2lbs. motored over to a huge submerged rock pile as the spook bite was going away and started throwing my 3/4 oz wearing the MGM hoo-dun-it in color #23 and started sticking good fish in 12-17 ft of water all around these huge boulders. I had 7 more and the best five ended up at 13.69 lbs. a 3.68, a 3.08, followed by 2.41,2.28 and the 2.24 on the spook. These all came prior to 0810 when the houseboats started moving into the Jones Valley inlet preparing to leave. I beat it back to the ramp which now has ski boats tied up to it and the Jones Valley water truck sitting on the ramp. Get out as quick as I can while a number of idiots stand around wiping their stuff down on the ramp and near it. pull out to the concrete and wipe my dust laden rig down and count 38 cars and trucks going into or coming out of the Jones Valley ramp area. What a mess! The lake is 94.5 ft down.
City: ReddingTips: If you are coming up for the Won Bass TOC team event, I strongly suggest that you avoid Jones valley unless you like a 6 block walk through the gravel and dirt to park your stuff. Better to use Packers which will be down to one lane shortly or bite the bullet and put in at Bridge Bay or Centimudi. DON't go up to Hirz Bay, the float is still in but you are gonna back off the end of the ramp for sure. Sugarloaf is in should you want to pre fish the upper Sac. Pay attention running these days, there is a ton of stuff coming up that most folks have never seen before.

Water Temp: 74.2
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In at Packers at 0615, lake down to 93.5 ft, air temp 68 with 6 other folks for our monthly old guys and gals tournament, I ran up the McCloud and found a rip bite if you like small fish, went to the MGM hoo-dun-it quickly on a 1/2oz football head after sticking 8 small ones and got a few better fish with the #23 and #22 colors. Moved south and ran into Dick who had a couple of decent fish and we talked a bit, lots of dinks being caught. Went back down near bridge bay and ran into the owners of MGM and Bryce said he had one good one. Weighed in at noon and Dick took bragging rights with 2 fish at just under 4 lbs, Bryce came in 2nd on the strength of his 3.02 spot. Bob and I tied for 3rd with just under 3 lbs. I had about 24 total and most reported similiar situations. Not a lot of traffic this am and only a few jet skiers and skiers but lots of houseboats on the lake for this time of year. Out at 1215 air temp 83, Packers will be down to one lane shortly because of the mud hump coming up farthest away from the ramp.
City: ReddingTips: 2 fish limit so that is why things seem kinda light for the weights.

Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In at Packers at 6:45am. The morning started slow for me but the Blonde in the back started picking up fish with a 6" in #36 Blue Shad/C. I finally managed a dink with a new color I was trying, clear w/a rainbow of colored glitter. I finally switched to my new "HOO-DUN-IT" in good old #23 Melon Pepper, and quickly stuck a 2.4 spot. A couple of hours after a little boat ride we returned to the same area and I hit a 3.0 and another about 2.5 in about 3 casts. I think the MGM "HOO-DUN-IT" might be a fair creature bait. By the way Jerry, this bait is only 4 to 4 1/2 in. long, (you know how fishermen stretch things, LOL). Had a good morning on the lake with the boat traffic at a minimum till about noon. Out at 1:30 with 11 or 12 total.
City: cTips: The better fish came out of 30 feet of water. The banks are loaded with dinks.

Water Temp: 74.6
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: 43 fish in the boat this morning, and a few others that hopped off. In a M&M at 0615, air temp a cool 61 the lake was down about 5 ft, motored over near rattlesnake and started throwing a blade and rip baits with no takers, moved back east to just north of M&M and pitched docks until 0730 and not one bite, moved across a flat with a cut in the middle and suddenly found a ton of fish in the 12-15 ft brackett versus the 6-7 ft docks. picked up 5 just over 2lbs on a football head wearing an MGM #23 twintail, got into the box and pulled out some new creations by MGM called a, get this, hoo-dun-it. god awful looking thing with real long very thin tails and wings. moved down near buckingham and stayed in the 12-15 level and moved towards shag rock( I think that's what they call it) and boated 23 more fat 2-3 lbers. Moved past this big chuck of rock and some other folks and went downthe other side of Buckingham and picked up a half dozen more until 1030 whn it came to a halt.
oops! in case this sounds fishy it is. i went down to Clealake this morning. This new bait by MGM is about 6-7 inches long, round body, slighty ribbed with two very long thin tails and wings on both sides. motored back to shag rock as most of the guys had left and only one boat there now. can't get bit so go a little deeper and start getting them again in 19-23 ft with the bait fished straight up and down to avoid getting stuck on the rocks. Ended up with 43 total and all fat as footballs and had a lot of fun with a very effective new bait. Out of the water at 1215, air temp 84 and drove over to Lakeport to Northlake Ford to purchase 4 gallons of their very reasonable Merc Premium Plus in bulk. Thanks to John Brossard for doing this for us bass fisherman
City: ReddingTips: did see one guy with a 4+, most were dropshotting. The depth was very specific, not enough or too much and no bites. Used these new baits in melon pepper, black root beer and a reddish colored one(don't know the number) or color name.

Report: last night trip of the year, 102 in town, 83 at Packers at 745 PM, the lake is 90 ft down and folks are starting to see some things they have never sen before, started throwing a spook on the way out and caught one on it and had two blowups if you could call them that, all small fish, went to the darter head and the MGM #23 for 5 more by the time I got out side and the bite quit at 2030, nothing till 2130 when it got going again for 5 more and no size to speak of, 2 rigs in the lot when I got there and none going out at 2230, air temp at 76 on the way out, I am glad the summer is over, my reports wil be much fewer now as I have some local tournaments coming up. e-mail for info if you care to.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: seems I forgot to give the water level in the last report, got a few inquiries concerning that. The level stands at 88 ft down and releases have slowed considerably. Didn't go out this AM as the north wind kicked in at 25 knots with gusts to 30. ramp conditions as follows: Centimudi-2 lanes, Jones Valley- on secondary ramp(asphalt) lane and a half, Bailey Cove out of the water, Hirz bay in-2 lanes but very muddy. Antlers is out, Sugarloaf is in with 2 lanes. Packers- 2 lanes, All open ramps have floats in place.

Water Temp: 77.9
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: went up north for a change, in at Sugarloaf Low Water ramp at 1845, air temp 95, wind out of the south at 10, dropped the trolling motor and went staight across to the rock walls ad headed upstream throwing some topwater and rip baits. Got 2 blowups and one in the boat on a rip bait, continued north till about 2015 with no more hits, turned around and came back down the same wall as I saw a lot of fish stacked up, put a MGM #23 twintail on a darter head and fished up against the wall and tight to it throwing in front of the boat and picked up 11 dinks real quick, at 2040 got bit good and the fish ran off out into the main channel and headed down and I am figuring a large catfish as it stayed down and was pumping the rod. Went around the boat once dodging the big motor and troll motor and finally get it up and in the net. a nice fat 4.02 largemouth tossing 1 inch shad with every head shake. Got him back in the water and continue down stream catching 2 more and another good one at 1.96(spot). The bite shut down around 2115 so i motored back to the ramp and got out at 75 degrees. The ticket tonight was using the darter head and allowing the bait to fall slowly while standing in some 70ft of water 10 ft out from the rock walls and trying to hit the wall where it went in the water. If i missed it by a foot or two then no hits. Fish not shy tonight, they hit those twintails with reckles abandon.

Report: took a tour of the jone valley area this evening. It looked bad from the lakeside and it is worse from the road, the devastation is total. The low water ramp is now in with a float, the concrete ramp is still usable but no float and it will be to shallow to launch anything but a cartopper alumminum boat within the next few days.

Water Temp: 77.2
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In at packers at 1800, air temp 83 with a strong north wind blowing, ran over into the McCloud again and promptly got on fish as the other day but all dinks throwing the MGM #23 melon pepper twintail and the black root beer twintail. Did manage one on a rip bait and one on a blade but the majority came on my MGM stuff. Fished till midnight but nothing in the boat after 2245. Wind still blowing at midnight and the air temp was down to 68 when I got out. I stopped counting with the 35th fish. No size for me but three of my friends did ok with a few over 2 lbs.
City: ReddingTips: as far as the evening goes, its best right before and an hour after sunset, steep rock walls were the ticket for me.

Water Temp: 79.4
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: In at Packers at 0445, air temp 75, soft wind out of the north, started throwing right from the ramp but didn't get anything until i got out to packers point, tried everything and went back to my usual 1/2oz football head and B and S melon pepper twintail and finally managed one dink on the point right at the bank. Took off to have a look at the fire damage and turned into Jones valley to find total devastation. The only thing that didn't burn was the parking lot. The ramp was vacant however the Shasta Rec guy who stays on top of moving the ramps up and down arrived while I was there and he told me that the road into the ramp is now open. Lots of smoldering stumps still putting up some smoke but air quality was actually quite good. Ran up the pit to Arbuckle and Clickapudi,Blue and Dark canyons are wastelands with some stumps and spot fires still burning, above arbuckle things are ok. Not much boat traffic at all, only three houseboats tied up below arbuckle to Clickapudi. Silverthorn has most of their fleet tied up at the pier, Jones Valley's are still over in the McCloud and a lot of Bridge Bay boats are sitting un-rented. Looks like many people cancelled. Water color was surprisingly clear no doubt due to the lack of boats moving around. The Jones Valley ramp is down to a lane and a half and will be unusable within the week when it will be moved to the secondary ramp. It would not be wise to use Jones Valley with a strong northwind blowing as ther isn't much room to manuever around when you pull off the trailer, it is running out of water in a hurry.
City: ReddingTips: fishing has been the pits, dinks only usually and not many of them.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In at Packers at 6:30am. Fished around Packers Bay for the first hour or so with jigs and worms, zero. Looks like we should have went with Johnny Mac! Went for a ride to Jones Valley to see the damage the fire caused, WOW, most of Jones Valley, the boat ramp area all the way past Clickipudi Cove is toast. It has burned all the way to Blue Cyn. and beyond. It's going to be a muddy mess when it starts raining. The Blonde and I only managed 4 dinks for the morning. I think we'll go back to the night time, no boat traffic! Oh yes, the Blonde caught 3 of the dinks!!!

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Bridge Bay at 0500 and idled over to gucci row where some very nice houseboats are moored, picked up three clients off a brand new houseboat, they were from Nevada City, Grass Valley and San Francisco. Started them throwing cranks on the McCloud above Dekas Rock at 0530 while I threw my favorite top water, by 0730 we had caught and released appox. 50 spotted bass all in the 1.5 to 2.5 lbs class, these were very nice fish for the time of the year, at one time I had stop them from fishing and let me take the fish off there hooks as all four of us had a fish on at the same time. Needless to say I was very happy to see them have such a great time, as for me it was one of the best guide trips I've had. Off the water at 1000, What a great day

Report: In at Hirz Bay at 1800, aair temp 77, water is down 82.5 ft, ran into the upper McCloud fishing steep rock walls and caught 41 in 2 hours. quite a night, best went 2.86 and also a 1.88. missed quite a few using a 1/2 oz football head, not tied up ,with the MGM #23 melon pepper twintail. The fish were mostly small but just pounded this bait from the bank out to 15ft. Got out at 2045 with the tmep at a very pleasant 68 degrees. no other vehicles on the ramp or in the lot and not much activity with ski boats etc.

Water Temp: 80.1
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: front moving through, overcast and pleasantly cool. in at Packers at 1910, no activity at the ramp with a 6 knot wind out of the south, ran up the Sac about half way where i was on some better fish the last time out, got to the same spot and no fish, move around a bit and find some aobut a 1/2mile away all stacked up on a steep rock wall and get a good one on that went 2.56 on a 1 ounce jig with a B and S melon pepper twin tail, continued throwing for a bit on this spot and only one more tap. moce south fishig the same kind of stuff and found more fish but nothing would go. ran back south hitting a few humps, some up and some just about to come up and not another single bump, very little traffic and the sheriff was out. Went back towards Packers and stopped on another hump that was loaded with fish but again, no takers. Back at the ramp at 2210, air temp in at 81 coming out at 71 with a slight push out of the north. I thought the pressure drop was going to make for a good bite but it managed to only suspend the fish. Again the fish were deeper than normal, my only fish came out of 28ft at 2004 hours.
City: ReddingTips: thougth I had it figured out, beats me.

Water Temp: 79-80
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: In at Packers at 0445. Dropped electric motor and made my way along the east bank of the cove throwing topwaters. Force fed a jitterbug, buzzbait and spook almost all the way to the mouth of the cove without single a strike. Metered some fish on the graph on the second to last point and drop a drop shot on them to pick up a fiesty 1.8# spot. This point showed lots of fish on the graph but spent the next half hour without another bite. Up the Sac Arm trying numerous other points with limited success. Found another large concentration of fish on one point but could only get the first fish to go; the rest must have gotten spooked. Boat traffic way up by 1000 so out of water by 1030. Overall, beautiful day to be on the lake.
City: ReddingTips: Was hoping for a topwater bite in the very early morning but not even a splash on any of them. Fish were concentrated once you find them, but seemed only one would go at each location.

Water Temp: 80.5
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: our cooling trend arrived and glad to have it, in at Packers at 1915, lake nearing 71 ft down, breeze out of the WNW at 6, parking lot virtually vacant, ran over to the sac and hit a good stiff wind of about 12 running upstream, fished some rock walls with my first coming at 2020, a nice fat 1.8 and it turned out to be the smallest of 8 for the evening, no bruisers but some solid fish the biggest being a 2.52 and the best five went 11.61. They wanted a skirted jig tonight and all were a bit deeper than normal, the first was 28ft deep the rest came out of 18 to 20 ft on a melon pepper B and S twintail, no topwater takers at all, not even a roll or bump. Very little traffic except for one ski boat and the sheriff. moon came up around 2245 and a few shooting stars appeared, the meteor shower should be at its best on the 12th and 13th this year. Easy trip on plane going back with the moon up. The island just northeast of no name has just come up and 2 of the three poles are knocked down so you might want to watch that for the next few days, when you run for the sac stay tight to no name or give it at least a 1/4 mile berth so you don't hit that hump. The steeper rock was the ticket, in some cases I was standing in 70ft and flipping to the bank, most came on the fall with that satisfying "tick" on my 3/4 oz stuff.
