Report: In at Antlers at 7:45am. The crowds haven't arrived yet. Met up with John,Don, and Cameron at Lakeshore Marina. They are down rom Wash. to enjoy Shasta or the holiday. Gave John a ew MGM worms in assorted colors and away we went. Fished the steep banks rom Lakeshore to Salt Creek Inlet. Nothing but small ish. The blonde in the back did manage a 2.0 on a blue/green senko type worm. Salt and pepper was a productive color also. We ished the senko type worms weightless and right on the bank. Later in the day switched to jigs and went deeper, 30'. Probably caught 35 total with at least 5 or 6 being smallmouth. The boat traic started to pick up so out we came at 3:15PM. When we crossed the Pit River Bridge at 4:15 we counted 50 houseboats. I'll return to the water ater the holiday.

Report: Well, the pressure drop and weather o a ew days ago have put the ish deeper and most are suspended, in at bailey cove at 445 pm with the wie and boat owner and over near birdhouse point in the lower mccloud, started throwing about 15t deep and nothing, the wie missed one in about 20 t at 545 and I started going deeper and inally ound some ish at 35 t. shited to worms and used the 157 MGM 4inch or two as the sun went down, lots o boat traic and many houseboats pulling out o the marinas with college kids on board, both ish were skinny as a rail and went about 1.5. Another weather ront is coming or the weekend so things will probably continue to be slow as we approach a normal summer pattern, largemouth should be going pretty good i you can ind them, out at 815 pm, air temp 79degrees, water very murky ater the rain and increased boat traic.

Ran over near shallow point at 0500 and started throwing a rip bait and got 18 between 0503 and 0640 witha 2.2 smallmouth, all came right o the berach, i I didn't get within a oot o shore ,no bite, wind came up a little more at 0630 and I ripped 3 more smallmouth and picked up a worm rod. Tied on a 3/8 oz darter head I just started making and a 5 inch MGM 151 (black magic) curly tail and caught 11 more in the next hour to 1.6. irst time I have ever thrown the 151. the 2 early jig ish hit at the surace and the rip ish were right on the bank, the worm ish came out o 12-20t and mostly on gentle sloping red mud banks and the 3/8 oz darter head is real nice when throwing into a 15 knot wind. got out at 0830 temp up to 66 and the lake has dropped just past 10 t. only saw 2 other boats and the college kids didn't make much o a ruckus last week with only 500 showing up versus the usual 2,000, water very clear down to 25t.

Report: cold ront moved through last night with a small pressure drop, in the water at 0520 at Bailey Cove with my neighbor, Walt. Ran over to Shallow point in the McCloud tossing jigs on the short points north o the point but getting hit short at irst in 21-28t, no rip bite and I went deeper or a ew dinks and one keeper in 35t, Walt had the ist in the boat but it was short. Moved over to Ycotti and went all the way into the back, no ish and only 2 cruisers seen, moved back out to the ront on main lake points or a total o 6 with one small largemouth and the bite shut down at 0915, didn't thow any worms but wished i had. It appears the spawn in the lower McCloud and main body is over or nearly so, might go urther up into one o the arms wednesday. I expect high pressure to build back in and bring the rip bite back and move the ish a bit shallower.

Report: Someone lost a 22" 7.00 lb Spotted Bass rom their stringer last Thursday. One o our group ound it (still alive) loating in the middle o the lake near Jones Valley. You know who you are! Your riends don't believe your story but I do! E-mail me directly, we have pictures to back up your story! Our houseboat was in Blue Creek rom May 1 thru May 5. 10 ishermen in our group. We ished the Pit River primarily, Squaw a little. Bite was slow in the morning, and picked up during the day. Evening bite was the best or us. This was a consistent pattern on all baits. Seems the ish need to warm up.
City: santa rosaTips: Live bait (minnows and crawlers) were hot. On Thursday, between 3 pm and 7 pm I released over 35 bass ranging rom 11 to 15.5 inches. The most productive plastics (worms, grubs, tubes all worked) were salt and pepper or "slime" green. Spinners and other "hard" bait picked up a ew. Forget trolling (although it could break loose any minute), I spent many, many hours ishing or one 'Bow and one Chinook.
