Report: I have been reading some reports about Bed ishing, and the Vietnamese people. First o I would like to correct some statments made. I am a Vietnam Veteran, and have been involved with the veterans community or years in Redding. I am also a tournament isherman, and have been involved with the ishing community or years. What I would like to correct is the orientals that we see ishing on Shasta are not Vietnamese. We only have a ew Vietnamese amilys living in Redding. The people we see are Mung or Laotian. I havc on many occations checked the buckets and stringers o these people to see i in act they are taking ish home that are not legal, and I have never ound them doing anything illegal. All they are doing is catching ish to eed there amilys.I can tell you also that they are not nearly as wastull as we are. They eat just about every part o the ish they catch. Now or bed ishing I agree that some restrictions need to be taken to protect our uture population o ish. I just wonder how inorcing the law to protect them would be carried out.
City: ReddingTips: There are plenty o ish on Shasta, and a ew ish taken home to eat will not hurt anything . What we need is a slot limit.

Report: As someone who has ished 44 o my 49 years I have to agree that bed ishing should not be allowed or should be limited to catch and release on the spot. Once a spawning emale is pulled o the bed you can kiss that bed goodbye the eggs or ry are IMMEDIATELY eaten. I have ished Shasta or about 8 years now and as the number o tourneys have increased the quality and quantity o ish has declined. One more thing i the people ishing the tourneys do not do something about their rude, arrogant, and inconsiderate actions I will join up with the anti-tourney crowd.

Report: HEY HAVE TO AGREE BASS SHOULDN'T BE FISHED WHILE BEDDING.I HAVE BASS FISHED FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS NOW AND PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE AND I AM AN AVID TOURNAMENT FISHERMAN AND BELIEVE THAT FISH SHOULD NOT BE FISHED WHILE BEDDING IN TOURNAMENTS OR OTHERWISE ESPECIALLY BY THE MEAT FISHERMAN. ALOT OF STUDIES HAVE BEEN DONE ON THIS AS FOR RETURNING TO BEDS OR HAVING BEDS RAIDED AND NONE WOULD SUPPORT BED FISHING BESIDES LOOK HOW EASY IT IS TO FISH BEDS DOES THAT REALLY TEST A ANGLERS SKILLS? I AM PLANNING A TRIP TO SHASTA IN MAY, FIRST TIME TO THE LAKE SEEMS NUMBERS ARE THERE BUT NOT MUCH FOR SIZE ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Report: WELCOME TO THE CITY OF JONES VALLEY !!!!!WHAT WAS CDF, N.FOREST SERVICE,DFG. THINKING ?????THEY CUT ALL THE TREES AND CLEARED THEM OUT SO JOE PUBLIC COULD SLAUGHTER ALL THE LARGEMOUTHS ON BEDS. IN MY OPION I THINK IT IS CRIMINAL. MOST OF THEM ARE NOT WEREING FISHING LICENSES AND OTHERS PROBABLY DON'T HAVE THEM. THEN THEY LEAVE THERE STYROFOAM WORM CUPS ALL OVER. ONE GUY EVEN TELLS ME THAT IF I USE MINNOWS OR CRAWDADS ON THE BEDS I WOULD DO BETTER, I NUTTED UP A THAT POINT,AND YELLED SOME THINGS I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE. I PAY BBAC DUES HOPING TO IMPROVE THE LARGEMOUTH POPULATION ON SHASTA.THATS WHO I AM CONTACTING NEXT,I DON'T BLAME JOE PUBLIC THEY BOUGHT THERE LICENSE,THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO FISH. I BLAME DFG FOR ALLOWING THEM TO BED FISH. 34 STATES HAVE RESTRICTIONS ON BED FISHING,SOME DON'T LET THE ANGLER USE BAIT UNTIL AFTER THE SPAWN SEASON IS COMPLETE,OTHERS PUT COMPLETE BAN ON BED FISHING, LESS THA 1% OF THE BASS IN SHASTA ARE LARGEMOUTH I THINK IT IS TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT,IF WE DON'T MY GRANDCHILDREN AND YOURS WILL PROBABLY NEVER CATCH A LARGEMOUTH IN SHASTA,I HOPE DFG READS THIS I KNOW THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE NUMBER OF LICENSES THEY SELL,LONG TERM THIS WILL EFFECT THEM TOO. DFG GETS SOME BALLS YOU ARE A PART OF UNCLE SAM,I JUST HOPE IT'S NOT THE TURD. PRACTICE CATCH AND RELEASE MAYBE DFG WILL LEARN SOMETHING FROM IT....
City: REDDINGTips: CALL DFG AND COMPLAIN TO THEM IF WE ALL DO IT THEN THEY MIGHT SEND A WARDEN DOWN THERE TO CHECK LICENSES, AND LIMITS AND THE LOWEST OF THEM ALL JOE THE SNAGGER.

Climb the hill to get my truck and get back down and manage to get my boat out as one citizen center punches the loat with his ski boat and removes a big hunk o iberglass, talked to Rex rom CDF who tells me that the houseboat companies have more rentals going out with the college kis starting mothers day than last year, it wil continue through memorial day. First time I have seen olks skiing and jet skiing in March. Won't be long and I will be ishing at night.
