Report: I thought I saw Rippin Rod on that guide trip, now I know it was him. Me and my Labrador went past you in the Sac on the way to the Dam around 2:30. Looked like everyone was having un, I'll say hi next time. well just ater I saw R-Rod I graphed an Island out in the middle o nowhere and sure enough there were a lot o bass on it, all smallmouths, all dropshot, and some OK size as well. Yesterday the bite was excellent rom 6:00 until I let at 7:30. Some ish on spooks but most just wormin, didnt get any jig ish :(... I saw some very good ish just cruising under the surace and chasing shad, but they were to easily spooked. I you have a tourney coming up be sure you have a spot that you can get a spook ish on irst thing(like always-duh:)) but it seems that with this extended hot weather the topwater dies very quickly. There are a lot o boils but not the type I am used to where you get hammered when your bait gets in there with em.

Report: MY WIFE AND I PUT THE BOAT IN AT PACKERS BAY AT 5AM AND AM HAPPY TO SAY THEY HAVE THE DOCK IN PLACE AND HAVE CLEANED THE MUD OFF THE RAMP. THINGS LOOK PRETTY GOOD THERE FOR AWHILE. ITS A LITTLE TIGHT GETTING OUT WITH PACKERS BAY HOUSE BOATS STACK IN THERE BUT STILL PLENTY OF ROOM. WE CAUGHT ABOUT 15 FISH AND HAD A 4LB SPOT AND A 2 1/2 LB LARGEMOUTH WHICH WAS A NICE SURPRISE.MY WIFE TEXAS RIGGED THE BLACK WITH A MGM WORM JOHN THE OWNER OF MGM MADE FOR HER. I GOT THE 4LB SPOT ON A TEXAS RIGGED 4INCH WATERMELLON GREEN MGM WORM . THEM MGMS ARE GREAT WORMS.WE WORMED ALL OF THE FISH,BUT WE DID CATCH A FEW ON THE DROPSHOT RIG. THE FISHING WAS THE BEST OFF OF MAIN LAKE POINTS AND IF YOU CAN FIND A MUDLINE ITS SEEMS TO HOLD BETTER FISH.NOT MUCH FOR BOATS OUT THERE TODAY

Tips: MAIN LAKE POINTS FROM THE BANK TO 25FT WAS GOOD FOR US TODAY

Report: Got it igured out, out o Bridge Bay with Steve at 630am, lake down near 100t, ran up the Mccloud above Shallow Point and got on some ish in 21- 40t, had 7, all legal or a change on jigs, most were in the 30t plus area, Steve had as many with only a ew dinks, my biggest went just over 2 lbs, The aba is out there right now or day two with 14 plus lbs in the lead but I don't know who that is,lake still a bit murky, shad on surace mid-day being chased by the small bass, lots o activity above Dekas rock, we wnet back early as I had some people coming over. Lots o ABA guys out or the practice. High pressure building and should bring the ish back up in a ew days, sosme reports o ish being taken as deep as 50t and requiring the bladder to be tapped to allow the released ish to get back down again.

Tips: I was throwing 3/4oz to get down to the ish, especially when the wind blows

Report: I went out irst thing Friday AM into Waters Gulch. The bass were chasing shad up into the shallows and I thought it was gonna be easy pickins.... no topwater ish, and I managed to rip a ew. I looked at my graph and instead o the ish suspending about 9 eet down like they had been doing or sometime now, they were at 17 eet. Also, the rip ish came on twitches, this made me conclude it was going to be a tougher day. So I packed it up and went into Elmore and tried cranking, blading with no takers. Eventually I gave into the dropshot and started picking them up.At 10:00 it was back to Bridge Bay to pick up Russ Meyer (no relation) our relator, who needed a day away rom the phone. I you need a realtor up here I can't say enough good things about Russ. So we head out to "just go ishing". I took us up to an Island in a cove past Obriens where I had graphed a ton o ish and sure enough we dropshotted and spooned a lot o ish. We stayed there and ollowed the bait or over a hour until it shut down. At about 11:30 the new ront was on us and I had to put my sunglasses on or the irst time. We just could not get any topwater, so we just took our time ishing jigs and managed to get some decent ish the rest o the day. We got o the water around 6 and came back to steaks and the giants game!!

Report: tried calling Shasta Recreation about the loat at Packers and Hirz Bay and the phone is dis-connected, guess I'll have to make a trip up to antlers and see i anyone is around, went out with Mr. Fuller (Bryce) in the evening and got my butt kicked again but not to hard. Lake going down near 100t and still a bit dirty, ran up to Arbuckle looking or shad but couldn't ind anything working, ish were suspended, Bryce managed 5 and one legal ish, I caught only one, I spent the evening throwing stu I usually don't throw to see what would happen and nothing did. Bryce caught his shaking the MGM #54 worm, we ished the area around the entrance o Blue Canyon also and the urther you went back into the coves the less ish we ound, the little weather ront that went through has brought things to a screeching halt. talked to some others and most report the same results, no ish or all small. I think I got this igured out and am going out riday am to see i I am right. The ABA guys might be in or hard times on the weekend. My money will be on Townsend and McLaughlin.

Tips: the one I caught was on a yamamoto skirted grub with a single tail in watermelon with red lake.

Report: My riend Dave (the ishin'-Pol) Kryszak visited us ater a Salmon trip on Saturday, and we ished Sunday rom 6-12:30.We had a great day, our irst spot produced 12 ish in about 20 minutes- no dinks. These were topwater and rip ish. As the sun came up we switched to jigs, this gave us our best ish, but not a lot o numbers. We tried ishing topwater out in the middle o shady coves but no takers, inally got a good ish on a spook o o a point. Dave had a very big ish blow up on his spittin image, the ish just missed it, something makes me think it was a largemouth. Finally we had to give into the dropshot and we had a lot o un pulling them up rom 50'.. I guess our weight would have been between 9-10 pounds. Just a good day on the water having un!!.
    City: Redding

Tips: These spotted bass are unny, i you get into a good school when they are eeding, they make you look like a genius. Conversely, i you are outta sync with them, they make you want to sell the boat outta rustration. Looking orward to the next one Dave!!

    Water Temp: 71-74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: went out with the Cottonwood Bass Team to ish a club tournament as a guest, in at Packers early at 5 AM to avoid the rush, air temp 63 lake down near 97t, sat around shooting the breeze with the members and praying my last tuesday spots would hold up, took o at 640 AM and ran up the McCloud all alone to near Shallow point, started throwing a crnk bait and getting bit right o the bat by dinks but managed a 2.62 spot o a lat in 5 eet o water, took o upstream near Dooles creek or some more dinks and a 1.8 spot. Stayed north till 10am when I was joined by Jim Lowery with his non-boater, Jim said he only had one, picked up another small one and let or a place on Squaw creek behind horse creek point with about 6 lbs in the boat. 28 more dinks later and I am in trouble, can't buy a legal ish! go to a rock wall across rom Horse Creek which produced three decent ish on tuesday but no go. Now I am starting to press a bit and the un just went out o it. That was the end o that. no bites ater 215 pm, the wind came up out o the south about that time. Ran back or the weigh in and heard some more sad tales, many small ish and nothing over 2.92. did talk to a couple o guys not in the tournament that I know and they were having a hard time with a lot o dinks, the spawn o the year are now up to 4-5 inches long and you can usually see a herd o them ater you toss your lure in chasing your line where it enters the water. The loat at Packers is o the track and sticking out into one lane o the two lane ramp. That makes three loats on three dierent ramps that are messed up.
    City: Redding

Tips: the MGM twin tail skirted grubs accounted or most o the ish until I ran out o them, didn't get a touch on any o my spinner baits, 8-10 came rom a deep diving crank bait

Report: In at Packers at 7:00am. Fished Waters Gulch or 4, then moved to points on south side o main channel west o Bridge Bay or 8 more. Largest being 2+ lbs. all the rest 12" clones. The wie caught 9 on M54 carolina rig. I caught one on a jig, then had to switch to worm or the other 2. All ish caught in 30+ t. o water. (Hey Jerry, I guess I'll have to call her MRS. Fuller now.) Out at 12:30.
    City: Cottonwood

Tips: It seemed the only way we could get bit was to ish around 30' deep and very slow.

Report: headed or hirz bay this am, got there and backed down on the south ramp lining things up with the loat, just got into the water and backed o the end o the ramp! get out and look it over, toss the rig into 4-wheel drive and ease my boat out spraying the ront o it with the red mud, get out and move back towards the auxiliary ramp just around the corner but no loat in and its rocky. To say I am upset just doesn't cover it. Said the heck with it and start to leave and down the ramp comes a ella with a big jet crat so I start yelling at him and he is probably iguring I have lost my mind. He stops beore the waters edge and I yell at him again and start walking that way. He waits and I give him the news. Now he is pi--ed o! I just want to say to the Shasta Recreation Company, THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR LOUSY SERVICE, MOVE THE DANG FLOAT OVER TO THE AUXILIARY RAMP SO PEOPLE DON'T DAMAGE THEIR EQUIPMENT. I went home and cleaned up my rig which is neat because I just washed and waxed everything last week. guess I should have stayed in bed.

Report: On the water at 0630 and ished the mouth o the Squaw. Caught 2 on a luke in about 6' o water while my son threw a topwater with no bites. Moved up the Squaw and threw the topwater over a wind blown point or 3 blowups and 1 quality chunky ish at about 15+". Dropshotting the rest o the day til noon produced numerous 14" clones with the best being a nice smallie that measured o the board but weighed just at 2 pounds. Lots o short ish.
    City: Redding

Tips: Windy points produced early, then deep to about 25' or the dropshot ish. Texas rigged and darthead worked also, but more ish bit the drop shot.

Report: not a ish report but a report on ramp availability, lake down to near 94t, Antlers Public ramp is out o the water, the Antlers marina has moved south near Sugarloa, the Sugarloa ramps are in, the north ramp has a loat but it is sideways against the beach, the south ramp has a lot o mud and poor parking, Bailey cove is out o the water, Packers is in with two lanes, Hirz Bay south is in with one lane and muddy, loat in place,Centimundi is in and down to one lane with parking or about 10 rigs at the bottom, Jones valley auxiliary ramp is in ater a 1/4 mile dusty ride on a dirt road that has been graded. The lake is clearing up rapidly and the mudlines are gone, upper pit is a bit treacherous or those unamiliar with low water conditions,Centimundi should have two lanes but one is heavily silted in, Packers is now the busiest along with the private ramp at Bridge Bay Resort.

Report: in at packers at 430 pm and ran upstream to meet up with Howard and Anita and amily, they are rom the Reno area, lake passing 91t, 88degrees, picked them up and ished areas o the upper McCloud or about a dozen by Howard and Anita who had the irst in the boat, mostlly dinks, I didn't throw much providing a little assistance to the Mrs. who picked up this particular style quickly and and put Howard in his place, I did manage one decent ish at 2.5. Went back to their houseboat at 815 to ind that Anita's brother and son had not made it back so Howard and I went back north or an hour or so and ound them out o gas near nosoni creek. We put the Wellcrat on the beach or the night and went home. Went back out early am on tuesday and put gas in the boat and Howard and I ished south or 3 hours boating about 12 with Howard connecting on a 2.64 spot ater nailing down the technique. ran back to the houseboat at 10am to learn o the tragedy in N.Y. so I went home. Anita, don't let Howard keep trying to stretch those short 11 3/4 inch spots! Make him measure every ish!!

Report: Decided to get away rom all the bad news, hit the water around 2:00. As stated beore, the mudlines are all gone, and the lake was airly unoccupied.Since it was overcast and even raining a bit, I started with topwater, a ew misses on the spook, so I went to the spinnerbait- no takers. OK, back to the jig, I got to ish some points and cuts that had houseboats on em or the last three months, and managed to get some nice spots. The action was not as good as I thought it would be, so I decided to ish parallel to the bank or suspended ish with a slow alling grub, lots o action but no size, but that seemed to be the way they wanted the bait yesterday. Day two o this weather system, may go out later and see i they have changed their mood.

Report: Guess I hit the wrong key or something so here goes again, the regular ramp at jones valley is out o the water, the auxiliary asphalt ramp is in but it requires a 1.2 mile two track dusty ride to get to it, take two towels as u will need to soak on when ur pulling out to wipe all the brown dust o when u get back to the concrete ramp. watch the road ahead on the way out as there are only a couple o wideout spots or olks to pull over to make way or oncoming traic, in a t 0530 and over to mariners point, lake down past 88 t air temp 59 degrees, had two largemouth right o on a trout lavored suspending jerk bait, one was 2.5 the other was a 2.2 then 6 spots on the irst twenty casts, switchhed to a jitterbug or a dozen blowups but only 2 on and dinks at that, the surace stu stopped at around 7 am, ran upstream near blue canyon or a ew taps on jigs but no hookups, the holiday crowd is arriving and saw skiers as early as 715 am and a lot o houseboats on the move rom Silverthorn and Jones Valley, gonna get a bit hectic this weekend but its just about over with. got out at 76 degrees at 930 am and very little taraic at the newer ramp, guess the dusty drive in turned some around as I saw three ski rigs going back out o the area and they got on the highway and went north up I-5
