Report: or those not in the 530 area code, MGM lures has a new 800 number 1-800-376-9555, or in the 530 area its 246-3663, in the water at 530pm at packers, air temp 99, met up with Bryce and Susan Fuller newly retired to Cottonwood rom Salinas, we ran up the McCloud to just south o Hirz Bay witha 20 knot southwind behind us, stopped on the west bank and I immeddiately got bit repeatedly on an MGM #109 twin tail skirted grub on a 3/4oz ootball head, all must have been smal until about 630 pm when I got two in the boat at 2.0 and a 1.8. most were jumping o at the boat or near the boat, lots o dinks, Susan and Bryce were having the same luck with Susan in the lead or a bit, she says that Bryce has a tendency to stretch things a bit and she insists that they must be in the BOAT to count. My boat owner(the wie) had the same opinion when my ish were jumping o. Most o the better ish came between 630pm and 730 pm. We ran back downstream near shallow point where the same thing happended, lots o hits and ish jumping o and small or the most part. My best size came where some clearer water was mixing with the narrow mudlines on windblown banks with rock on it, the steeper the slope the better. The wie and I took o at 930pm the Fuller's decided to hang around a bit longer. Mr. Coyle poured me 8 o the 109"s they are all gone and chewed up. Most ish came out o 20 t or less, the better sized ones were close up to the bank right at sunset. I think the morning bite is getting better but the evening bite seems to last a little longer.

Report: Took the labrador with me ishing today, she loves it. She is especially ond o throwing ish back- she gets to jump in and go swimming:) A lot o dinks between 40-15 t. during the day (1-4pm)so I decided to go deep and around 5:30 it turned out great. I had 7 ish over 2lbs all on the same point, must have hit em just right. When I brought my jig up and didnt have a ish on, the dog was looking at with a "wheres the ish" expression. These ish all had great bellies on em, and the ight was better than the typical spot.
City: ReddingTips: Still waiting or the topwater, still too hot, will get out in the am next week or that.

Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: My wie and I took the boat out or the irst trip and spent the night on it. Spent more time learning about the boat than ishing that evening. Wind blew all night and was pretty cold. Up at 0500 and pulled anchors and ound a likely place by 0530. Water pretty muddied up rom all the boat traic rom the day beore. Threw a jitterbug I'd had on rom the night beore and stuck 3 with the biggest about 2.5#. Had several blowups that the ished missed the bait and had one come un-buttoned. That bite died about 0730 and I drop shotted 2 more getting one at a solid 2#. The other 3 ish were typical 14" Shasta clones. 5 bass or about 8.5# beore 8 am.
City: ReddingTips: Sleeping on the ront deck is like sleeping on the sidewalk! Bring a good oam pad and remember, even i it's a 100 degrees at 4 pm, it's gonna be cold at 5 am.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: In the water at Packers at 540 am, air temp 63, lake muddy, ran up the Mccloud near the birdhouse point or a couple o dinks as the wind came up to approx 15 mph which using top water a bit tough, ran up urther to Shallow point to get out o the wind and no top water bite to be had or me, started thowing jigs and getting hit short or a bit then put 6 more in the boat with two at 1.8 and 2.4, moved over to a little lat point that is very shallow and got bit big time in 15 t on a MGM #109 twin tail grub, the ish ripped o some line towards the rear o a houseboat and I got him in at a solid 4.5lbs, nice at spot. Moved upstream again about a 1/2 mile and poked around in the back o some coves, nothing happening, wind picked up a bit and tried some more main lake points until the jet skis started up at 745 am. All my ish this am came between 705 and 725 am. Traic got heavy in a hurry so I ran back to packers bay, out at 830 am, air temp up to 76 and climbing ast, temp will hit 105 today and maybe thru tuesday.

Report: Let Bridge Bay @ 5:45 A.M. run over to the Big Backbone, wind calm, water lat. The lake is still dropping ast and we can't expect any serious rain or two more months, the lake you see today is not like the one you see next week, it is hard to establish any pattern that is consistant. My irst ish today was a 3.5 spot on topwater boated a total o 10,two on a jig and the rest on topwater, lost another 3+ spot at the boat line broke and he got away with my lure which was ony three casts old, Bite stopped about 8:30 A.M. so it was back to work at MGM Lures.

Water Temp: 80-82
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: weent to Jones valley at 610pm, got in line and the guy ahead o me backs down and THEN spends 15 minutes pputting his stu in the boat. He inally gets it in and it won't start and now he sitting sideways across the ramp, I put in and he continues to just sit there and the guy behind me inally loses it and walks down. I though oh oh here it comes but he walks up and calmly unties the guys line rom the loat and pushes the boat away. Boy i wish I would have done that! I get going over to brushy canyon to meet Chad orm Morgan Hill and we hook up and take o with his riend Steve. Right away Steve starts lying ater he boats the irst bass over in Blue Canyon. We move around all evening and pick up a number o ish, about 28 with Chad getting the largest a just under 3 lb spot near Jones Valley Point around 1130pm. Both these guys are accomplished sticks and Cchad and I end up riding Steve pretty hard throughout the evening, air temp going in was 96, coming out at 67 and the lake is down past 76 t and murky, lots o traic early on but things slowed down by sunset, we were all tossing 3/8-3/4 oz jigs mostly dark colored. Tonight the bite slowed when the ul moon got up but picked up again around 1130 pm and was steady till about 2am when I took them home. Had a great time and these two will always be welcome in my boat.

Report: as o 830am today the McCloud arm above Dekas Rock is also included in the "no ski" closure People on houseboats who don't ski are going to be happy but the majority o lake users this time o the year ar going to be upset along with the marina operators.

Water Temp: 79-81
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: just heard today that the orest service is shutting down a number o asreas on the lake to skiing and tubing, all areas north o the gooseneck on the Sac arm are going to close to skiers today, the Squaw creek arm north o monday lat will also be closed also, this might sound likea good idea to us isherman but it is going to push the law abiding skiers into other areas ished and create some problems, the olks who don't care will be running into these areas closed anyway so the alling levels will create some dangerous traic problems until ater labor day. This dows not bode well or the isherman looking or some quiet water, the night ishing can be a bit dangerous or those not amiliar with the lake at low levels so go slow in the dark or risk damage rom the many trees and rocks coming up that haven't been a problem or about 9 years. This will deinitely have an adverse impact on the ishing until the summer ends. I will keep ino posted as sit develops.

I haven't heard o anyone getting on a morning bite, temp going in was 97, coming out it was 67, very pleasant evening with a light and variable wind out o the north that shited to the south later on.

Report: we are getting close to being 75 t down so here is some ramp ino: Bailey Cove is out o the water, Antlers public ramp is going to be high and dry in a couple o days, The north ramp at Hirz Bay is out, the south ramp is good to about 115 t. Report: back out with John this evening at Packers Bay at 630 pm, lake at 69.20t air temp 101 and very busy, ran up the McCloud near Ycotti creek and grabbed a couple quick o a rolled point in 25 t, moved over to the east bank as the sun got o the water and worked an emerging island or a hal dozen and one smallmouth to 1.6, ran dwon near the shasta cavernsdock and picked up a near 2.0 at ater dark in 28 t, continued down the east shore hitting points on the steepeer stu or a totalo 13 with one coming on a blade that John was throwing, water very murky with huge mudlines as aras 200 yards o shore, took ish in 6 to 30 t with most coming out o the 12-15 t area, throwing the bigger jigs again and most hit with authority, didn't miss as many tonight but didn't get bit as oten as last night, out at 1130 pm on a beatiul moonliteevening, air temp down to 73 when we got out.

Water Temp: 81-85
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Did the annual weeklong houseboat trip to Shasta last week. First time we spent the entire week on the Sacramento arm. Started the week o back in O'Brien, moved around some ater three days there. Had a hard time getting the irst ew ish and iguring out a pattern. Most o the ish started out well o the sides o points in about 12-15' o water, but as the water warmed, they moved up closer to the tops. Fish aren't too thrilled about chasing crankbaits, but picked up a ew with Fat Free Shads, Rebel Deep-wee craws and Yo-zuri rattlin vibes. Fish seem more interested in smacking the cranks than eating them- oul hooked quite a ew ish. Plastics seemed to do a better job... M-90's & Morning dawn worked best, but almost anything with some red in it will work too. Best bite seemed to come between 9:00-10:00 PM, never did that well in the mornings (but didn't get on the water that early most days). Biggest ish all week were 2 to 2.5# spots with tons o smaller ish. Most productive places were the points southwest o Marshmallow. Seems like ish are relating to the shorter points, didn't pick up as many ish on long, slow tapering points.
City: Fernley, NVTips: There must be an unwritten law or the "pleasure boaters" to get as close to ishermen as they can without actually getting in your boat with you. Had one stupid @**#!^$ pass between me and the shore while I was sitting in 30' o water working a point. A well placed cast with a big-ass Rogue got his attention. You're better o catching the evening bite ater the other boats get o the water.
