    Report: This report covers about the last week-- The 7:30-9:30pm bite has been OK, cant catch a rico ish, but the spook bite has been pretty good- having moved up rom the the bay area I am having Frog Withdrawl- I think I need to join FA and get some counseling, I still have my rog rod in the boat:( actually clear lake isant too ar away.....The night bite has been un, 5/8oz jigs- thrown on the bank and dragged in, most o the hits have been pretty quick- the irst oot or two. Havent gotten anything huge but some good solid 2-2.8 pounders. I you want to ish the mudlines they are everywhere and extend out urther than I am used to, maybe its normal or this time o the year, I havent ished shasta in the summer that much.Jones Valley puts you closest to the no ski zone up the pit and thats where I have been going out o.

    Report: have not been out in the am lately so o I went, in at Jones Valley at 505am, air temp 74, water going past 66t, ran up the pit hitting points near Reynolds Creek or 6 dinks, the biggest at 1.6 and two were smallmouth, couldn't get any top water working, tossed a spook, jittterbug, blades, and an auroro black, went to my jigging rod to get the small guys who were mostly up against the bank. it quit at 7am, stopped by the Hiden Valley Market in downtown Jones Valley and shot the breeze with the boss lady and the guy who helps her out, they have a nice store and I love their ountain coke machine. theya re well stocked and a godd source o ino or any type o ishing on Shasta. out o the water at 805 am temp up to 87 already, going to hit 105 today.

    Report: my riend Keith showed up rom Medord,or to sample some night ishing so we took o or Hirz bay and got in at 6 pmBoy the traic was busy, lots o skiers and jet skiers, lakeast 62.6t air temp 83 and the water was very muddy, ran up to nosoni creek and the place was ull o houseboats, nothing there, went across rom nosoni and started wirking the bank downstream and I picked up a dink on a jig, Keith throws to somerocks and a 1.8 spot jumped on it. I collect another dinkand we move down adjacent to Dooles Creek at 855pm. I toss at a chunk o rock and something smashes my jig in about 12 t o waterand heads or the rocks ripping o line, I kicked the trolling motor hard let and head or deeper water, the ish comes up to the surace and rolls then heads or the bottom, 4 minutes later Keith nets a dandy 5.2 spot or me, I am pumped up!. We continue south or awhile and hit a number o spots with Keith boating one moresmall ish and that was that. Sure do like those good sized spots.

    Report: the loat at Jones Valley is back in place, in a 835pm, air temp 78, lake at 61t, ran out near squaw point to ish a submerged hump, its 9t on top and slopes away gradually, caught two decent ish o o it in 13t, the irst was a black on a MGM 109 4 inch, at 3.8 ollowed immediately by a 3.2 spot on another 109 4 inch, ater that they were all dinks on Jigs, the irst two came right at 9pm, 14 more ater that and missed at least that many jumping o as they raced to the surace, lovely night with a hint o wind out o the north, didn't throw any top water. Saw Jim Miller coming out, he had a near 4.0 black but can't say on what, ollowed him home behind his super clean champion, very little boat traic, the houseboat crowd that was over in Fort Creek are gone.

    Report: called John McNemar and o we went, lake down past 57 t and dropping like a rock, temp at 83 water at 78, in a Jones Valley at 815 pm, the loat is o the track and it is gonna be hard to launch there in a ew days i it isn't ixed. Down to two lanes now, ran over in the pit to some islands and the bite was on at sunset, 6 or me in the irst hour with two that jumped o at the boat and missed at least 6 others, John could not get hooked up which is unusual or him, most came out o about 10-15t o water, wind didn't die down which made things tough, must have gotten up to about 20 mph. moved over into jones vally to get out o the wind and ended up getting out o ish, just a ew taps and one rolled on John's jitterbug but missed, I was throwing jigs, color didn't seem to matter much. Got out at 1230 am, lots o traic on the lake early, one skier buzzed us twice in a wakeboat, sure wish they wouldn't do that. Called Shasta recreation company, hope they ix the loat.

    Report: went to the coast on Mon and tuesday, hauled a boat over or my neighbor, 63 degrees in Hiouchi, very pleasant except or the 130am wake up call with thunder and lightning, looked around the area and had a great dinner at the Beachcomber just south o Crescent City, took o early this am back through Grants Pass and home by noon, went out this evening to meet up with a young man who emailed me or ino and we made arrangements to meet and ish, at Jones Valley at 9pm but he is a no show, lake down to 55t, air temp at 80, sit around or awhile but he doesn';t show so o I go to a lat spot connected by two humps just under the water, irst ish at 927pm olowed by 30 more and mostly dinks, best ish was the second one at 2.4, a couple 2.0's and a bunch near 1.5 with many coming o at the boat, water lat and no wind, quite a ew people out and moving around but only three other guys ishing, tossed jigs on 3/4 and 3/8oz jigheads, used the heavier stu irst and went light about 10 pm and taking ish right o the banks on some mid channel humps in the pit, all were very aggressive, nothing tentative and most came straight to the surace, no smallmouth at all this time, tosse a spook just beore 1130 pm and it was busted as soon as it hit the water, got out at 1150pm. caught ish rom the bank out to 13 t.

    Report: watched the ireworks and went to bed at 1130pm but couldn't go to sleep, up at 1230am and got the boat ready and went to Jones Valley, temp 76, water at 78, lake down to 51.5t, the hump at jones valley is out o the water and you should be able to drive onto it in a ew days or more parking, Jones Valley Resort has been moved out as has The Shasta Marina in the O'Brien Inlet. Was expecting olks to be out running around with 60 plus rigs in the upper lot at jones valley but didn't see anyone until 515am, had 18 in the boat, 5 were at 2.8, nothing smaller than 2.4 and the last one came on a spook at 540am, a nice 2.6 smallmouth, never let Jones Valley and never stasrted the big motor, water lat and skys overcast until 215 am when a little north wind came up and blew the clouds away, what a beautiul night and dawn! had one get on that took o or the pit channel and never looked back. was moving through a stumpy area and had the lashlight on the water in ront o me, saw a 4t plus sturgeon get out o the way in a hurry and right on the surace at 330am, got out at 545 am, sure am glad I couldn't sleep,

    Tips: used up the last o my MGM #109 thinga ma bobs on the irst 5 ish(Mr. Coyle, please make me some more) the rest came on Bass Pro grubs, used 4 dierent colors and the bass didin't seem to care, the spook i use is a junior spook

    Report: had a number o e-mail inquiries the last ew days requesting ino and i won't be going out until the crazies leave tomorrow evening, the lake is just passing the 50t level which means the Bailey Cove ramp o o I-5 at the O'Brien exit is coming out o the water and is unusable, all the others are ok, The MGM products are available at Strictly Fishing at 2451 Athens ave in Redding, (530)241-4665, the Union 76 at the Mountain Gate exit o o I-5, and rom the manuacturer at 5008 Mt. Lakes Blvd, Redding, (530)246-3663, steep rock walls are still good with the darker chunk rock being best, cranking is good very early and the jig and worm bite is best late evening, at night, the jig bite improves along with something noisy on the surace, twin prop type loating lures are a good choice early and late, mid day is a boiler right now with temps passing 102 daily, a cool trend is orecast or the weekend. The speed limit 1/2 hal hour ater sunset to one hal hour beore sunrise is 15mph and keep those running lights on so you don't get mowed down in the dark!

    Report: The youngest son let without going ishing and I was let with just honey doos this am and wish I had o gone with Johnnie Mac instead o running a rototiller, went out this evening to hook up with Eric and Todd, i had met Eric at Phils while he was looking or something to catch a ew ish, in the water ast 6pm at Packers, lake down just past 45 t, air temp 84, ran over to Deadmans and hooked up with Eric and Todd, went over near Marshmallow or about and hour and boated about 10 with as many jumping o, went back to their houseboat or a tri tip dinner and back out or a ew more hours in Elmore Bay with a lot o hookups but only about a hal dozen in the boat, did get one decent ish at 2 lbs, we were throwing jigs on ootball heads and listening to the tales o working in a prison by Todd, I can't imagine doing that or a living as he is a correctional sergeant at Pelican Bay, went back to their boat at 130 am and had a great time, Eric, hook me up with ur e-mail and such when u get back to Fresno.

    Report: I WAS LOOKING AT THE MORNING PAPER AND IT SEEMS WE HAVE A NO FEE BOAT LAUNCHING RAMP AT TURNTABLE BAY. IF THIS IS TRUE ,WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR LAUNCHING BOATS AT OTHER FOREST SERVICE RAMPS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT TURNTABLE WAS FOR BOATHOUSE OWNERS ONLY.IF ANY ONE HAS ANY COMMENTS I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THEM.     Report: in at 505am at Jones Valley, temp 68, water down to 41.6t, ran over near mariners point, tossing a surace plug or three blowups but no hook ups, got out my 109 thinga mo bobs that John at MGM made or me and caught 5 on the next 7 casts, best spot was a 2.8, and had a 2.2 black and a 1.8 smallmouth, irst time I have ever caught all three species in same day and there went the last o my 109's, they were all banged up, tried to put a couple back together by heating them with a cigarette lighter but only managed to burn my inger, moved over to a submerged hump in ort Creek and dredged up a scrappy smallmouth on a bps pumpkin pepper grub, the smallmouth are coming back, at 7 a wakeboard boat started running around me and made a pass or two at less than 50 t so I moved ater waving at the idiot. moved around a bit or some dinks over by the rockpile and headed or the ramp at 845am with the same ski nautique that was buzzing me now in ront o me and going the same direction, he's about a 100 yards in ront o me and just passing the little point outside o the Jones Valley ramp, there is a hump coming up between that point and the loat and it was only 12 inches deep this morning, I get to the point andd swing out wide when guess what I see, Yep, the ski nautique is aground amongst a bunch o brown water, I try to keep a straight ace and motor on by these people but the guy with the paddle who is cussing up a blue streak darn near makes me lose my lunch. I did the right thing when he waved at me, I waved back and continued to the loat, I look back and he is out in the water now with the little waves lapping his legs below the knees, say goodbye to about 4 grand worth o shat, screw and struts. Like my daddy used to say "just wait son and the lord will provide"

    Report: Let Bridge Bay at 4:30 a.m. up the pitt to blue canyon, ishing with my sister and her husband rom Wash. St.Caught 6 spots rom 1.5 to 2.2 all on jitterbugs beore 6:30Bite slowed so we ran up to dead horse canyon threw jigs no takers on to sugar pine 1 1.8 on bnown jig. decided to call it quits at 11:30 Not the best day out but better than Jerry had yesterday, will give it another shot tomorrow on the big backbone.

    Report: in at 515 am, temp 68, water at 72, lake doen to 40t and dropping like a rock, wind out o the north at 5-15 knots until I hit the water which must have been the signal to whip it up a bunch, 15-25 knots with gusts to 40 by 630 am, threw the book at them or ZIP, nothing but a pulldown on a 127 MGM near the rockpile, started running up the pit to get out o the wind with no luck, ran back into 4 coves and ished out o them, came across 4 other boats all reported no ish, wind kept building and started back at 830 am and hit some points throwing heavy jigs (up to an ounce) had to duck a 5/8oz rig that I sky shot and it came back over my head, enough was enough, ran down by brushy canyon, and jumped in the lake to cool o, 83 degrees by 830 am, 2-3 oot whitecaps blowing down Jones Valley and worse in open lake areas especially near arbuckle, irst time I have ever been blanked in June, cd ran to their irst ire yesterday near the Mtn. Gate exit, 100 homes in the way but they jumped on it quick with 6 aircrat and got it out with no property damage, the place is bone dry, going to wait or the wind to slow down, temp is supposed to hit 106 today but cool by the weekend back to low 90's, we are going to be in deep doodoo this all, hope there is some water let.

    Report: got in at 730pm and ran over to big backbone, water down 7.5 t rom my last time in there, my spots are drying up and the ishing was poor with only 7 or me and my buddy Rudy Martin up rom the Bay Area, Rudy and i worked together or twenty years and it was old home week, spent the day reminiscing and teling lies, lake at 36 t down and dropping like a rock, water lat no wind, lots o small ish and short hits, about a dozen jumped o, had a great time

    Report: In at Jones Valley at 905 pm, lake down to 34 plus t, air temp 79 or 12 o o a submerged hump near squaw point, ssmallest was 1.8, biggest was 3.6 and i lost something that just took o or jones valley and straightened me out quick, elt like a big catish, John Coyle at mgm made me up some goodies(6) with the caveat that I don't post what it was because he only had a ew molds, they were beaten up and torn o in 17 minutes, tried some top water with no hits, everything was suspended between 12-14 t, the MGM thinga ma bob was in the 109 color, threw some brown and salt and pepper stu ater that or a bunch o dinks, whatever went in was slammed quickly and as the evening wore on the bites came in a oot o water or less, at 1130 a bug attack got me o the water, a new crop o mosquitos must have hatched, stayed put most o the two hours as some idiot was making repeated high speed passes in a yellow? boat up and down the pit rom Clickapudi to Mariners Point, big inboard with open pipes, sure gonna be a mess when he takes the top o one o those rocky humps

    Report: Fishing on the McCloud arm o the main banks o the arm rom about 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Saturday 6/9/01. Used spinner baits with chartreuse grub trailers. Several dinks and then caught a 12 incher o a muddy bank. Ater that, a nice steep rocky point came up. Cast across the point and wham (I thought I was snagged at irst) and then a nice ight and then landed a 15" spot. A ew minutes later, a 14" spot. Bass are so much un to catch!

    Tips: Look or structure. Points and the backs o coves are producing. I you are on a boat, make your cast land as close to shore as possible.
