Report: Water is low w/only 35'-40' o water at the dam ace. Algae bloom in ull orce w/enough on surace that when your bait hits it SPLATTS!. Started at 7 am w/top water then switched to shallow & medium diving crank baits both shad & craw patterns w/no action. Started at the midlake islands. While I cranked my wie split shot worms & she boated a 10 incher at 7:30 using a green weenie w/chartruese tail. I inally switched to worming & missed a strike at 9 am. My wie then boated a 15 incher using a motoroil 4" curly tail worm at 10 am. We then moved to the north bank just west o the day use area & my wie boated another 11" dink again w/ the motoroil curly tail worm. Worked our way down to the dam & at 12:15 pm I inally split shot a 14 incher w/a green weenie. Finally boated one so we could go w/o me getting skunked.
City: DelhiTips: The ew we caught came rom slowly dragging a split shot motoroil or green weenie worm & they came out o 10' to 20'. Maybe deeper water might produce better?

Report: Like I said I would, here is my report on the pattern I used at the Newbass Metro team event. During preishing I ound alot o bait and bass on the riprap levees around the dam. My preishing eort included a 5.3 lb Largey on the dike west o the ace o the dam. At blast-o I decided to ish the dike in the Mormon Island area beacuse it was out o the wind and I wanted to see i a ew surace ish were going. No topwater, but when I picked up my triple-bladed white spinnerbait, a solid keeper latched on. Soon ater a 3.7 came on-board and shortly ater my third keeper was in the well. I then went over to the dam and didn ot catch another keeper the rest o the day. Lots o snakes came rom the water that had previously produced some good keepers. Tried up north or awhile and little in the south, but no more ish were added to the well. My best laid plans didn't pan out, oh well that's ishin'. Winners had 16+ plus with a big ish o 4.70 lbs. Good luck
City: RosevilleTips: Pretty good blade bite in the right stretches. Find the bait and the ish will be close. Be careul, there are alot o UNMARKED hazaeds out there to destroy your boat.

Report: Very windy again on Sunday. The Labrador and I hit the water around 6:15 and went up the pit. The water was airly choppy so I pretty much just threw spinnerbaits, we caught around 10 in the irst hal hour, nothing over 1.75, but a lot o un. Once the wind calmed down a bit I did dropshot some ish but thet were all small. So I went back to the jig and caught a ew more decent ish in about 40 eet o water. We got o the water around 11:30 so as to catch the ootball games. The ishing is great!!! You can catch them on just about anything.

Report: Float tubing at Yorty Creek, ished rom 7am till noon. Landed a 4.5 lb bass o a steep point directly across rom the rocky shore near the boat ramp. Caught the bass on a white 1/4 oz spinnerbait with tandem Colorado blades (hammered/chrome inish). I think the bass was holding on an stump underwater in 8-10 eet o water. I also ished the wood with no results, then switched to a small rapala (Black/silver) with no results. the 4.5 pounder was my only ish
City: PetalumaTips: The water was clear so I was using light line. get out there early to beat the crowd!

Report: Went out ant tried some new techniques or practice. No ish, but interesting bites. Thru spilt-shot plastic and carolina dads. Carolina dads produced 3-5 "mushy" type bites, couldn't set tho...but it's a new setup or me running deep. Doodled a bit, and this is what got the mushie bites. One GREAT violent take, but somehow got o the hook. Probably low drag?? Anyhow, or 1 hour on the lake, 5-6 strikes was good in my book. Next time I'll stay longer, and lower my line weight.
City: Santa RosaTips: Carilina rigs with rubber lures. Try skin hooking...I will next time.

Amador Lake
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I had one o the greatest trips to Amador Thurs night that I have had in awhile. I took a nice ather and his delightul 11 year old son, and we had un! We started about an hour beore dark, with not much success. Ater dark was a dierent story. 10" black Power worms were the ticket to a good show! Dad had a ield day, landing most o the bass - his biggest going 5 1/4 lbs with a 4 1/4 to back that up. I landed a 6-11, 5-3, and a 4 1/2. The boy hooked a ew, but was not able to put one in the boat. Next time he will!! We were getting so many bite rom little bass too, that I was going to stop setting the hook or awhile. Ater I said that, I got bit again - did nothing but lit my Loomis rod slowly. It elt heavy so I set the hook. Yes, it WAS the 6-11. You just never know!! We caught bass rom 2 eet o water to about 20 eet - the bigger bass were deeper. We ished the main body and big bay, points with wood, and lats. We wound up with 15 bass, with the 5 ish limit at 26 pounds. I ished Friday night or awhile, and ound the ishing mush slower, and some other olks said the same thing. I caught one and two pounders. During the day Friday, I caught a 3 1/4 on a jig and a 4-9 on topwater about 5 pm - what a surprise!! Ater many years o wondering i there really were any carp in Amador - and ater a discussion about that very subject with Bruce Lockhart that morning, I proceeded to snag an 18 lb+ carp that aternoon. Now I know at least that Amador has one less carp!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: As always, Amador is a timing game! One day it's hot, the next, it's not!!! The water still needs to cool o a bit or good topwater action. The jig bite hasn't been as good as the past ew weeks! Worms and brush hogs are excellent. Start looking or wood - it is beginning to show.
-
Water Temp: 71-73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I started ishing around 6:30 a.m. over by the spillway. Tried topwater a little and got nothing, so I decided to ish a jig. It paid o in about 10 min. I noticed my line coming back to the boat so I set the hook on a nice 4.5lber. I kept pitching the jig just in ront o the weeds, and got another one about 1.5lbs. Then a ew casts later I get a nice tap and set the hook, but apparently not hard enough. I had the ish on or about 10-15 seconds and it spit the jig. The ish elt heavier than the irst one too, and it ripped o one o my rattles and pulled the skirt o onto the hook. I moved and I am not to sure i that was a good idea. About 9:00 I got around 3lbs that I lost at the boat, should o used a net. That was it though I stayed until noon, but it was getting hot and the bite was non existent. Good luck.
City: Eldorado HillsTips: I got all my ish on jigs in 5 to 15 eet o water. All on main lake points.

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We fished a small 1 day club tournament. No limits were caught. The first and second place got four each for about five pounds. Most people were drop shotting and the winner went down 50 feet to get his fish. The second place guy got his fish early ripping a Husky Jerk or a Shad Rap. The wind was kicked up so picking up worm bites was tough. The best seemed to be on the steep eastern shore banks around the narrows.
City: BelmontTips: Things should pick up there in a month or so when the water temp drops.

Water Temp: 69
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Fished the New Bass tourney out o Brannon Island. My buddy john and I made the long run to the Paradise Area starting with cranks and topwater. I nailed about a 2 pounder right away on a super chugger and my buddy caught a couple small keepers right ater that. I didn't get anything on top or the next 20 minutes so I decided to start throwing lipless cranks. I hit 2 or 3 small ish o o a point right away, but couldn't get the quality. Decided to pick up a rip bait and hit a keeper on irst cast to the same point. John then hit a 3 pounder and another small keeper on the other side o the point. We had 6 keepers in the boat by 9:30 and headed or the 14 Mile Slough area. We managed two keepers there, but one was a 4 pounder. Tried a ew oher places, managed to cull one ish and it was time to head back. Our limit turned out to be 13.29 pounds. Out o 30 boats we inished 5th and wound up inishing in 3rd overall or the year.
City: rosevilleTips: Still having trouble inding a real cosistent pattern. I would say we caught at least 25 ish with 10 being keepers, but we couldn't seem to stay on em' once we ound em'. I it cools o this week, the reaction bite should really take o. Fish were pretty scattered. From 6 inches o the back to being out in 8 eet o water. We also got 4 or 5 striper to 6 pounds.

Report: Fished a local team tourney on Oroville today. The ishing was awesome. My partner and I caught 45-50 ish during the day. Most on crawdad color cranks. Caught some on a brown and orange jig with a grub trail and 5 or 6 on a hula grub/ootball head. Jigs seemed to produce better overall size, but or biggest came on a crankbait. O the ive ish we weighed in 4 were crank ish and 1 on a jig. Heck I even managed to cull out a spot with a nice smallie. Days like this just don't come around oten enu. Wish I could have stayed another day just to "playish"!!
City: Sparks, Nv.Tips: Most o our ish were on steeper banks and walls, but don't overlook the shallow mudlats. I caught big ish o the tourney on a crankbait in one these areas!!

Report: irst o, or those who have not participated in a Casting Kids Foundation event, do it when they come around, man I had a ball today! In at packers at 930 am ater being drawn by Ray Spoon and his mom Kim, lake down at 100 t and a bit, temp 63 and windy, ran up the McCloud and Ray says I can't say where but did say I could tell u that we were dunkin plastic grubs, Ray hits two dinks on irst three casts and then pops a 1.8 and decides we better move, We run to a spot thast looks good and he misses 2 quickly and then loads up with a 2.6 spot and tells me not to touch the rod. HE cranks the spot in and we get him in the boat and get some pictures taken. I lose one and he loses another then I stick a skinny 2.4 and Ray stops another dink. We run down towards the pit where Ray trys three holeshots ( he calls them pop-a wheelie) until his mom is turning a bit green around the gills, we run back to Packers or the BBQ and Ray has the big ish o the day! All the kids got rods and reels and tackle boxes with equipment provided by West Marine, MGM Lures, Phils, coca-cola and pepsi. Bridge Bay provided 2 pontoon boats or the wheel chair bound and so did Shasta Caverns. The Redding Lions provided lunch and Air med rom Mercy Hospital lew in with their helicopter. Redding Bassers and the Cottonwood Bass team provided bassboats or those able to get in and hang on. Man I had a ball, these were the irst ish that Ray has ever caught.
City: ReddingTips: As my man Ray would say"Get in, sit down, shut up and hang on" I do not know where he picked that up.

Report: Fished with Rich Thiel's Guide Service courtesy o the Hopkins amily. Thanks Joe, Ray, and Vance! What a great day o ishing we had. Thanks Rich!! I learned some new tricks and some spots Ive been going right by or years rom Rich and stuck some ish. We ended up with 25 bass to around 2.5lbs. All my ish came on slow rolled blades, chart/wht w/gold blades. The ish never did get tight that day with almost every ish coming on the outside edge. Its really an eye-opener to ish with a pro who knows the Delta water so well.

Report: Did a double guide trip with Mark Lassagne, party o 4 o Ray Hopkins o Sacramento. Met and Launch out o B&W Marina. Started ishing around 7:20 in the South Mokolumme, ishing a wall with no luck, switched over to a Island with grass on the points and proceeded to put 15 ish in the boat in about 2hrs. Pat made 4 cast 4 ish with Boyce Baits Spinnerbaits Chart/White gold double willow blades. On his 7-8 cast got his 5th ish and proceeded to cull them out. The celluar phones where ringin ater that. The clients had side bets on, It was a challenge or me to keep these guys ahead. 15 ish and I had to move. Moved down below Tower Park and Vince caught a 2+. The phones where ringing again. Oh oh, Im behind, Mark had around 26 ish and 6 stripper's to my 20. They decided to meet up and change boats. Man the rass that went on... I had to ind some ish. In Sycamore we met and changed. Pat stayed with me and Roy hope in. Mark took one wall and I took the other. Picked up some more good ish. We called it a day at 3:30 with Mark at 36 and 6 stripper's and I at 25 no stripper's (Didn't try or them). Vince won Big ish honors with a 2.40lb beating out by .01 o a lb. When we came in the camera's where lashin the stories where told. Good time or all. I even Razzed Mark inturn Mark razzed me. We just rolled on the ground and laughed. It was a good day or all... 60 ish were caught, plus 6 stripper's.
City: Castro ValleyTips: The pattern that I had held up all day, with spinnerbaits on end o points with thick grass, has the tide moved up the ish move up on the edges o the breaks. No ish where caught in my boat with a worm or a jig. I couldn't get a crank bite to go (Amazin) but Mark did. My opinion o this is the position o the ish. Mark had a "new" spinnerbait that he was razzin about that I think did me in with. I'll let him explain that one ha ha!!! Getting back to the pattern, it was diently a reaction bite on spinnerbaits and cranks. Little i any came on a worm or a jig or us. Concentrated on heavy grass'e points or wood near current. The ish are movin into their all pattern and a eeding up or winter. The ish were loaded with shad.My .02cts and opinion onlyRich Thiel's Guiding Service

Clear Lake

Water Temp: 70
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Had a day trip Wed, showing a client around the south end o the lake. We got one or two on crankbaits in the morning up to 3 lbs. We ished some with not much success, but the highlight o the trip was him missing a big rog ish and about 10 minutes late busting 50 lb Power Pro line on a bass. What a monster. He was sick and I wasn't eeling too well mysel!! Since he is a tournament guy, I will keep the location secret! It was a beautiul day, but the weather wasn't too nice or my night trip, which I started ater a short nap. The wind started howling just as we started ishing about 6pm. We took a dinner break at Konocti Resort and then back at the wind. We hid at Frazier or awhile with no luck. I really think the bass population has been thinned out there considerably - they are constantly removed rom the area, but I never seen anyone put them back there. I tried to get a release boat captain to release some there last year, but I don't know i he ever did. Ater ive hours with no ish, I got desperate and headed to Shag Rock and Henderson and see i I could hold the boat. I had some success with my new 520, trying to put my client in the perect position. I threw a Big Dipper Magic Worm (6") whenever I could get a cast in, since I had to throw backwards. At midnight, I saw my 30 lb test Fireline move and set the hook. It never slowed down and I yelled "get the net" as I towed the ish out to deep water, trying to keep rom crashing my new Ranger into the rocks - pushed by 2 to 3 oot swells. He said it would be hard to get the net since it had already blown overboard earlier. I thought there was simply no way we'd get this one, since he wasn't too keen on lipping a large bass with a hook at night. Can't say that I blame him! Glad he did it though, since it turned out to be an 8 lb 11 oz beauty! I would have preerred him to catch it, but we were just happy to have one in the boat! He had never seen one that big. Released her, and caught another 3 pounder on a black Terminator spinnerbait. Went to another less windy spot, and soon heard the magic words "I got one"!! I jumped or the net - Oops! Another lip job!!! He did have one - his personal best at 4 1/2 lbs. I had him using a junebug Dead Ringer worm. We got two more beore we quit, and wound up with 5 or 22-2 pounds in a two hour period. That was a happy ending or sure! A exciting boat ride back - what a boat!!
City: Yuba CityTips: I'm sure the rough water brought that big emale up to eed, and just made a lucky cast. Many clients and beginning anglers would have never known that ish was on - I barely saw the line movement in that rough water. Always watch you line very careully or a twitch or a slight irregular movement. I never elt a "bite", and I'm sure that ish did hit, but the conditions made it impossible to eel the bite. As the water cools, I am starting to use short, compact baits like the Power hog, brush hog, and zipper type worms or my night ishing. I still use 10" Power worms thru November.

Water Temp: ????
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Decided to try to ish this lake even though the water has been very low since July. Wind blowing about six thousand mph, so no senko throwing even attempted. Started ishing topwaters, and nothing. All the grass that was here early in the year is dead and gone, and there is a bloom o the nasty "green goo" algae, that gets all over everything. My girlriends brother came along with me and we ound some decent looking water toward the west end o the lake near the big satellite station. He threw a Meps Comet against my advice, and promptly hooked up. I elt stupid, and he landed the ish. Turns out it was about a 10 inch rainbow. Neat surprise, since there are not supposed to be any trout in there, and now I eel less stupid, because, ater all, we are BASS MEN! Anyway, I did manage to land one 2 pounder in the wind on a white spinnerbait with gold willow blades. Fell down on steep bank and bruised my ass and twisted my ankle, so called it a day.
City: Rohnert ParkTips: This lake is a really good ishing hole or bank only anglers early in the year, with good numbers o bass with pretty good size to them i you don't mind walking a while to ind them. Lots o crappie here to, in the spring/early summer. I don't think I will ish it again until the rains come to reill the lake to more decent level.

Water Temp: 70+
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I ished at Dixon or the irst time last weekend when I was in the area. I hadn't ever ished this lake beore but had seen the picture o the humongous 20 pounder caught out o here and had to check this place out.I went with a riend Chris, along with both o our girlriends and rented a boat w/ electric motor. I didn't know where to start so we headed towards the stretch o tules across rom the boat launch area, near another dock. We were using spinners, rat-l-traps, as well as sot plastics but couldn't get bit. I wasn't used to ishing rom a boat, and without an anchor we continued to drit ocourse. The water was very warm, and very clear (not sure i this is normal). I did spot a ew largemouths ranging in the 2-3 pound range, but couldn't get any o them to strike.I would love to talk to someone who ishes here oten, any pointers would be great or the next trip I make. I anyone reads this, and ishes Dixon oten, please send me an e-mail at skatter@bayareaishing.net.
City: San Jose (originally rom SD)Tips: Not sure, I didn't catch anything :)Check out http://www.bayareaishing.net or more reports and ishing discussions.
