Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I fished in the cove by the horse stables. There had to be 10 guys back there fishing, only 1 caught on a Nightcrawler...about 2 1/2 lbs. I tried everything, buzzbaits, plastics, spinnerbaits...nothing! Water was muddy, boy was it windy. Saw several LARGE fish jumping, soon realized they were carp! Next time I'm bringing my can of corn!

Water Temp: Mid 70's
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: I enjoyed ishing in the Interclub tournamemt with a riend o mine. We caught several ish up to around th 2 lb. range. Conditions were challenging with the strong winds and muddy water. Spinnerbaits and crank baits were the key. When we ound calm water we were lippen' and throwing senko's. I could not get a jig bite working or me, but the June Bug / Chart. Don Iovenoe worms were kick'en bass. This is a little diicult to talk about, but I've gotten over the humility and embarassment o a big mistake I made. I elt better when I got to talken with other people who made the same mistake in the past. All tha hard work ishing in a tournament. We were ishing our hearts out. I did not pay attention on how many ish I put into the weigh-in bag. The shocked eeling going down my spine when I was told I dumped out 1 bass to many. We culled several bass thruogh out the day, but did not realize there was still an extra in the well. I don't understand why I wasn't counting the ish as I was loading the bag. Anyways it was a very important lesson well learned. We never got to actually weigh, igure we had 14 lbs. or 7 bass.
City: Buckley Cove, StocktonTips: A good tip was given to me by a good riend was to use a culling kit. Clip your 7 bigger ish you will which ones to throw back. To me, a hard lesson to learn.

Report: Fished out o Big Break on Sunday. No luck in the break, but got some good ish in the main channel in areas o rip-rap with Tules on each side. Big winds inally sent me home.
City: laayetteTips: Red Speed Traps right up against the rocks. Two large bass caught literally against the shoreline in rocky areas.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: No top water bite or me in the mornin, maybe the large drop in temp slowed that bite down.Switched to pitchin baby junebug brushhogs and cought a dozen ish up to 3lbs in two hrs.Change location rom one slough to 5mph area and started throwing jig n pig.We scored at least another dozen ish up to 6lb 12oz along with a couple o 2s and a 3lber.Lost several and had some hit n runs. Also one spinnerbait ish on a point. All o the ish came on rock with weeds and NO tule.Several ish had crawdads in thier bellies.

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 71
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: It was good to get back to Clear Lake late Friday aternoon ater a 2 week break - doing trips at other lakes. I kinda missed the wind - yeah, right! My client and I had to deal with some wind, but since we were just ahead o the cold ront, it wasn't too bad. We started about 6 pm, south o Buckingham, throwing Senkos - I had a 6" #297, and I had him using one o my avorites - a 5" #240. I caught two right away, establishing that there were lots o shallow ish. What ollowed was one o the most amazing sights I have ever seen as a guide. My client was an excellent caster, laying that Senko next to pilings nice and sot. I knew he would get one, and he soon hooked a dandy. He got her to the boat very quickly, and we could both see that she was at least 6, probably more like 7 or more. I had the net ready, but know it would be a ew seconds beore she was ready. I think he really wanted her in the boat, 'cause he suddenly grabbed his 844 G. Loomis near the middle and tried to swing her in the boat. I tried to yell something like "don't do that!", but the words wouldn't come out. I had never seen anyone try that - I guess I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Unortunately, it didn't work. Boy, 17 lb test is really loud when it snaps! We all learn something the hard way, and I know he won't be doing that again. When I ound my voice, I gave him several good reaons why that wasn't such a good idea. I'm sure he was used to doing that on smaller ish, but probably hadn't experienced the mean, lean, post-spawn emales o Clear Lake. He shook o his mistake, and did very well, landing 5 or 6 to 5 lbs. I landed about the same, but the biggest was only 5-7, which was caught just beore dark on the #297 Senko. Ater dark, the junebug Dead Ringer and 8" Berkley Flip n' Tail worms (black/chartreuse) were the best baits. We ound ish at night rom 10 to 15 eet in rocky areas and in the shadows o isolated pilings. The moon was bright enough to ish shadows. He missed several, but I was please that he had a lot o action. Our 5 biggest were only 21+ pounds. He is airly new to bass ishing, and I eel he is going to become very accomplished very soon!!
City: Yuba CityTips: Night ishing should start to take o any time. Look or roaming ish (daytime) in shallow water, or anticipate where you think they might be, such as at the end o private lauching ramps that are not used. There is usually a break where the lake bottom has washed away, and bass like to hang aroung these areas. The second ish was caught in just such an area - I was telling my client about the ramp thing - and she bit. I love it when the bass bite on cue!!! A senko, luke, or rip bait are deadly in these situations.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I mainly went Fishing or Catish, I have been reading/hearing that they are hitting pretty good...not the case at all! I arrived at 6:30 AM, spoke with the gentleman in the both taking the money, he was so clueless about everything it was a joke! The Trout/Bass were jumping all morning, I saw alot o boats out, but nobody catching anything. This lake can be hard at times.
City: SunnyvaleTips: Everyone seemed to be using plastics...try topwater when they are jumping!

Water Temp: 78 degrees
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: On the water by 7 am & started in the coves south o the dam. Buzz bait, spinner bait, spook, jerk baits, & diving cranks zero. Switched to 4" & 6" split shotted worms/leeches & ish on. All our ish ound in post spawn mode. nothing caught in less than 10' on deeper submerged point areas or break line o creek channels. Color o plastic did not seem to make a dierence you just had to work the worm slow or slower. By 9 am we headed into the 5 mph area on the East end. Again the ish were o away rom the banks near submerged structure or submerged humps w/brush & weeds. Again our pattern was slowly ished split shot plastics. Headed in by 1 pm. Boated 20+ ish w/only one under 14". Fish averaged 2 1/2 to 3 lbs w/big ish pushing 4 lbs..
City: DelhiTips: Back o rom banks slowly ishing o shore structure, humps, trees/brush, & channel breaklines. Green weenies & oxblood worms. Shad colors produced but not as many.

Folsom Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I ished out near the rattlesnake bar launch ramp rom a small pontoon boat with my son. I caught one 1.5#er on a salt n pepper magic worm. It seems like the only way to catch ish at Folsom is magic worms. Anybody else have good luck with other lures? I'd love to catch ish on something else here!
City: antelopeTips: Magic worms, again and again and again...

Lexington Lake

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I ished rom shore with my ather today rom 5:45 to 7:45. The action was airly slow. We hit the shoreline across rom the old road bed and ended up staying in that vicinity. I started out with a jig, but that was to no avail ater an hour. My ather got two, a 1.5# and 2.5# on a split-shotted 4" green pumpkin lizard. He was CRAWLING the bait around and would get hit airly deep. Me, I stuck with the larger baits, such as jigs, blades and 8" worms, and blanked.
City: San JoseTips: Both ish were at, healthy, and pale. I think they have already moved into a summer pattern. Stay deep and ish the points or any rocky structure or that matter.

Water Temp: 76-79
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I I was on Survivor last Saturday, I'd go hungry and probably get voted o o the lake. Only got 3 dinks during the day in Mt. Spring. Two o them were as big as my lure(5 in. brown worm). The other was maybe a pound. At night, Skunkcity. Threw a 10 in. powerworm all night. Had to call it quits at nidnight because my partner ell asleep in the back o the boat and almost ell in. Damn! This lake has been tough lately. Oh well, it beats work anyday. At least I caught 6 Bass Ale's during the moony evening.
City: San Jose -
Water Temp: 84-86
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished Amador with Rick Tietz Thursday aternoon and night. We thought the heat (104) might get us, but we made it, and elt much better as the sun set. But the sudden hot spell did get the bass, and moved them to deeper water. What a dierence rom last Sat - there was NO topwater bite at all, and very ew ish were rising. Rick commented that it seemed like winter conditions - the bass were deep, and trout were actually rolling on the surace - we couldn't believe it. Anyway, we caught 5 beore dark on 5" #297 Senkos, but they were ew and ar between. They were solid bass - rom 1 3/4 to 2 1/2 lbs. When night ell, the bite picked up. We ound bass hitting 10" Power worms, and 8" Dead Ringer worms (junebug) on main lake points. We caught several good ish, including 2 at 4-11, and a beautiul 9 1/4 that my partner caught in 25 eet o water. She looked like she had not spawned! Impossible, right? We wound up with 13 or so, or a 23+ lb limit. Great trip during not-so-great conditions!!
City: Yuba CityTips: When the water temp rises rom 76 to 86 degrees in 5 days, and the lake drops another oot, the bait is going to move, and so will the bass - and they did! They will eed more at night and irst light when the weather is that hot. The worm bite is really turning on now, and Senkos are working well in the evening. I the water temp cools some, as it probably did in the next ew days, the crank bite and topwater will probably turn on again.
