      Water Temp: 78 am

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Late start caused me to miss the overcast calm. Fished the calm sunny for 1-2hrs. before the hurricane winds came up. Mostly soft plastics in the south narrows in the calm and deep crank and swimbait in upper narrows got me nothing. Tried north end hiding behind the mountains and got me 2 1.5# lm on back to back casts deep on brown plastic worm. Tried area for an hour and a halve and got nothing else, even on wacky Senko.
      City: dublin

Tips: Saw the big bass shallow but couldn't fool them. Move around until you get the biters. Both bites I got the line was swimming off.

    • Water Temp: 82

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Hope everyone had a great July 4th!! My family and I enjoyed the holiday doing one of our favorite things ______fishing!! It was extremely hot on the 4th with temperatures reaching up to 113 degrees on the lake so I decided to wait till Friday morning before heading but my son and his wife were out on Wednesday and Thursday (they love the hot weather) and scored good size bass up to 4 pounds each day. Friday early morning Albert and I headed out to the Narrows. We followed the shoreline into the Narrows and at each point we hooked up fish most of which were not keepers but still fun to catch and release. We trolled from there to the Vineyards picking up more fish along the way. I was surprised that the bass were so active considering the heat and the surface water temperature which was at 82 degrees. We had a great day (see photo). The next morning I started out in the same location in the Narrows with Steve and his wife Amy who were visiting from Florida. This was the first time they had fished for bass. Amy caught three bass one after the other right off the bat. Steve wondered why he wasn't getting any bites. Amy said she say a fish jumping ahead of the boat and I told Steve to cast beyond the fish and bring it in slowly and sure enough that bass hit the bait with a whollop and Steve landed a 6 pound large mouth bass. (see photo). He cast out again with no luck. Not willing to give up on that spot he cast out again and it paid off he hooked a 10+ pound bass which gave him a good fight all the way to the boat where the line snapped just before we could net him. We changed from crankbait to worming with brass and glass and a senko watermelon with red flakes worm. He hooked up another good size bass but never made it to the boat. He had beginners luck all day long and really enjoyed himself. 'til next weekend...............................................good fishing!!!!

      Water Temp: 78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched out of Orwood again at 6:15. Immediately got bit just outside of the no wake zone. Ran over to Bull Frog marina and picked up another. Overall I boated around 15 fish but only 8 kept. Partner boated around 10, 5 keepers. Most were on the levee breaks and weed lines (or combination of both) around Little Mandeville and Mildred Islands. Most were on LV150 shad but some on plastics and jerk bait (ghost craw, shad, ms American shad). Several stripers but all shakers. Also fished the flooded timber at north and south ends of Mildred. Water was gin clear. Fishy as hell but no takers. Need to figure this out.
      City: San Mateo

Tips: Breaks: Look for moving water, throw into where ever the water is deflecting. In our case it was a weed line.

    • Water Temp: 70-76

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: CLARIFICATION to previous report ... when it warmed up, we went back to crankin' so when we started finding logs and tule structure that looked like it would give a bass some cover, we hit it. I love this cordell suspending spot... it will just sorta float til you work it, then crank, pause, crank pause.... they didn't hit on the pause, they hit on the next crank. go figure!
      City: folsom

Tips: all in the prev report. well, that worked for us. the pro-ams were probably knockin' em out on other stuff but we got em on senkos and cranks when the above water temp got warm. (74-76). off to east cape for tuna/dorado/roosters/aj's/whatevers.... tight lines everybody!!! even the guys that don't wave back.

    • Water Temp: 70-76

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched B&W 515am...kinda cold and windy. Was expecting the crankbait bite to be on but only an occasional dink. Moved on down the Moke and when it was apparent the crankbaits weren't what they wanted, went to senkos and curly tailed plastics. Immediately picked up 3 one and possibly two pounders. OK, kept workin' the plastics til it started to warm up and in that time, picked up several almost keepers and about 3 more solid keepers. Also lost what looked to be at least a 4lber, possibly bigger but the way it jumped and shook out my senko, just looked bigger than what we were catchin'...and that was in 3ft under a log. Got warmer and we found another log... I picked up 5 keepers including a 2lber and my bud picked up a nice 3lber. I kept workin' that log at different angles (my tracker 185 only has a 55lb minn kota so I make the movement work for us by hitting different angles) and for whatever reason, we got about 8 decent fish outta that log. just kept movin' on down the Moke on one side and looked for logs and pilings all along the way. picked up a few more here and there....called it a day around 2:30pm after everything was just churned up from the huge cruisers and wake boats....everything just sorta shut down cept maybe an occasional dink.
      City: folsom

Tips: We looked for shaded or structure type tules and would throw cranks (I used a suspending cordell spot...love it cuz it won't just sink if you miscast it and you can stop and it'll just sit there and drive em crazy)....anyway we threw the cranks right up against the tules, then slooooow retrieve til they cleared the weedline at a diagonal path....i'd get hit 1. right at the tules 2. just over the weedline/log 3. just past the weedline or log if I paused. bam!~
FUN DAY! and my truck didn't get broke into again. Louis, bud at B&W came out to talk to me about my break-in 2 weekends ago. He's watchin' and checkin' the camera tapes. Also, I got buds that are LEO and CO. word's out.... maroon Camaro perp. and B&W is being watched now.

    • Water Temp: 75-87

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I returned to Clear Lake after several trips to Berryessa. I guided a guy-gal team that I have taken before. We started at 7pm in the killer heat and humidity out of Red Bud - temp 103! I looked for a shady spot and they started fishing. Within 10 minutes - no one was more surprised than she was - she had one on and I netted a fat 3 1/2 pounder! Good start!! She is just getting into bass fishing. Up 'til about 11:30 pm we hooked bass after bass - and I emphasize hooking! He is a good stick but could not stick 'em last night. But they did boat 6 or 7 between them and I got 6 or 7. We had a 20 lb limit in the first hour - our biggest at 5 lbs. Then it really got weird - very weird! The carp stopped rolling, it got very quiet and the bite simply died!! We could only hear an occasional bullfrog. He caught the only bass for the next 3 hours. They did miss a few bites, but that was it. Rare to see the lake that quiet, and it got as calm as it usually does in the winter. Flat as a pane of glass!!

Tips: We used all kinds and sizes of plastics. They brought their own stuff. The stubby things seemed to be what they wanter - hogs, beavers, Havoc baits, etc. The Dead Ringer and Power worms worked before dark, but not after. We tried a little topwater but I think surface temp was just too warm. We did find 89 degree surface temp. Bites were about 10 to 25 feet - weed edges and rocky areas.

    • Water Temp: 81

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched 615 at Dike8/Folsom Pt and headed straight to N.Fork. Worked points and shoreline with rocks and boulders using mid-diving cranks and dropshot for 8 keepers, 4 lost at boat, and about 20-25 dinks and 8-10inchers larger dinks that hit hard and fought like smallies. off the water by 230pm; pretty decent for a Wed, even with the ski/wake boats.
      City: folsom

Tips: Worked boulders at points and rock faces in 10-20ft dropshotting. Most of the keepers came on dropshot but a choice few on mid-diving cranks. crank pause crank hard pause triggered several bites. dropshot hits were subtle and rod would just load up, then pull back hard. fun half day.
get out early, then off between noon and 2latest and you won't get too bothered by the boat traffic.

    • Water Temp: 75-81

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Two more good trips to Berryessa. I took a father/daughter team to the lake early Thurs morning to get the early bite. WHAT early bite?? There was none! Coulda slept in! As the day warmed up - so did the bite. Yes, a good bite was from 11 am to 2 pm and no, I'm not crazy - the bass are!!! We fished the west side of the lake - selecting different structures. Father-daughter both caught largemouth and smallmouth over 3 lbs and several over 2 1/2 lbs. I caught a 3-6 smallie. And - those quality bass were shallow - most at 10 to 15 feet - middle of the day - in fairly clear water! Our best five about 16 1/2 lbs. Mike Sperbeck and hit the lake Friday late afternoon/night and started of with a ball of fire - several bass to 3 1/4 lbs and one that snapped my line on a crankbait! We did not get on to a great before dark bite as I did last week, and even the night bite was fair. The bass were quality though, nothing much under 2 1/2 lbs. My biggest was a 3 lb 13 oz largemouth. Because Friday was the beginning of the heat - we were catching bass down to 25 feet. And that is the number of bass we caught - around 25.

Tips: Where are the spotted bass? Other than the 4 lb 2 oz spot I caught last week, I have seen almost 0 spots in 5 trips. Thursday, most of our bass were caught on 6" Robo worms - most MMIII and oxblood/red flake. A few on morning dawn. The night trip again was successful because of the 7" black Berkley Power worm. Mike did catch some on Senkos. NO topwater action. I should have thrown crankbaits more than I did. We caught our night bass on shoreline areas with steep drop-offs and off-shore ledges. Both trips have shown me that the bass are not schooled up yet - feeding on bait. Many times we caught a single quality bass in an area - not 2 or 3. Again, our best five about 16-17 lbs.

    • Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: left Ladds at daybreak. about 40 caught but nothing over about 2.25 lbs. Most on Zoom super speed craw, senkos and red Rapala crank. Rising tide to high tide about 10am. Best 5 about 10 lbs. Hotter an blue blazes.

Tips: Crank outside weedline for prety good action. Senkos and speed craws to bank dragged out to inside weedline.

Tips: go early morning or late evening

      Water Temp: 73 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Another late start but this time 7AM out of Orwood for the first time. Started with top water just outside the no-wake zone but no takers. Made my way north up to Little Mandeville, over to Mildred, down to Bullfrog Marina then back to ramp. Managed 15(!) using weightless Senko (grn pumpkin), KVD2.5 (chili craw), LV500 (Shad), Flashminnow (shad), 100SP MS American Shad. Focused on inside/outside weedlines depending on tide. Nothing over 2lbs but non-stop action was fun.
      City: San Mateo

Tips: Focus on weedlines, inside and out. Caught 'em all that way today.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: BigBuddy - Seems like conditions changed greatly from Sat-Sun with the front moving in. I wonder if that had something to do with the bite. I've got an '07 PT190 with a motor that sounds like a hair dryer. Say 'hey' if you see me.
      City: San Mateo

    • Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Sun. nite to Thursday. Ran into quite a bit of rain. Fished south (like always) & fishing was spotty, not like the last few trips! We caught the majority of fish on Skinny Bear Griz. Flipping Jigs, & Texas rigged Yamamoto creature baits. We averaged 8 fish an outing ranging 2.0 - 7.1 lbs. Our best limit went 24.7 lbs, & we had to work for it! Fished into morning Monday night & picked up a few reaction fish on blades & cranks. For us this trip there was no Senko bite at all. Go figure! Weds. evening into dusk, ran into a 10 minute top water bite using the Roomba! Nailed a 5 lber & that was a thrill! I think the weather kind of altered the fishing so we'll probably be up in a few weeks to check it out! Weeds are starting to grow, let's hope it doesn't get too bad this year.

Tips: On the jig & Texas rig, we fished slow. We got a lot of our strikes throwing to the edge of weeds, slowly pulling or shaking the bait through. The fish would pick it up or hit it just as the bait came free! Good luck out there & be safe! Ted drilled the 7.1 on a Watermelon (194J) Creature Bait. The fish were close & shallow to maybe 8 - 10 ft.

      Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The water was extremely clear with over 10' visibility, dead calm and hot until 9am. Tried to finesse them with soft plastics in/around weeds unsuccessfully. Took a break until the afternoon and used reaction bait in the wind in/over weeds/wood to catch 2 lm around 2# and 3# in the narrows. Fun to watch them come up and nail your bait.
      City: dublin

Tips: Many beautiful sights around the lake kept me going when the bite was slow.

    • Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched at lime saddle about 6:15am, headed to the middle fork, but got low on gas and decided to come back to the north fork. Long ways to west fork from lime saddle in a small boat. Ended up fishing north fork and way back to Lime Saddle, I ended up with 13 spots, with one nice 16 1/2". also got a 14 3/4" and 2 14 1/2" " with the rest 13-14" Seems fish were mostly 20-38 feet deep, larger ones deeper. Dana had his best trip ever with 1 spot!!!!
      City: Magalia

Tips: Fish deep and get fish even in bright light. Texas rigs, drop shots, both working well. We used earth tones in browns. (Roboworms)

Report: El Guapo, I fished that area on Sunday. It was a hurricane that day but did manage to pick up 13 bass and a striper. Caught most of the bass on a Texas rigged beaver and a few on a crankbait. There r a ton of good looking areas around there but couldn't fish most of them Due to the wind. Good luck

Report: Name: Fishing With Sid Date: 2013-06-24
      Location: San Francisco
Water Temp: 78.5 Water Clarity: 3
This past week has been excellent fishing for bass. Last weekend I went out with my family on my son's boat and we fished the east side of the lake where I had not been for awhile. The water was calm and we were able to drift from deeper water into shallow water while casting and retrieving crankbaits. The water was very clear and we were able to see the top of the grass and the bass swimming into and out of the grass. Lighter colored crankbait worked the best. You could see the bass chasing the lure. My daughter-in-law cast out between two grass clumps and was hit hard by a 4+ pound bass which she successfully landed (see photo). Then I cast into the same area reeled fast to get the lure down and slowly reeled in toward the boat and saw the bass explode on the lure and landed him. Early morning fishing was best with top water lures. I trolled on the way back to the launch ramp and was whacked hard by what turned out to be a nice 3 pound trout (see photo). 'til next week......................good fishing!!! www.fishingconnection.net If you have any questions or stories you would like to share please email me at bestguide@hotmail.com or call me at 650-583-3333.
