    • Water Temp: 75-81

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Two more good trips to Berryessa. I took a father/daughter team to the lake early Thurs morning to get the early bite. WHAT early bite?? There was none! Coulda slept in! As the day warmed up - so did the bite. Yes, a good bite was from 11 am to 2 pm and no, I'm not crazy - the bass are!!! We fished the west side of the lake - selecting different structures. Father-daughter both caught largemouth and smallmouth over 3 lbs and several over 2 1/2 lbs. I caught a 3-6 smallie. And - those quality bass were shallow - most at 10 to 15 feet - middle of the day - in fairly clear water! Our best five about 16 1/2 lbs. Mike Sperbeck and hit the lake Friday late afternoon/night and started of with a ball of fire - several bass to 3 1/4 lbs and one that snapped my line on a crankbait! We did not get on to a great before dark bite as I did last week, and even the night bite was fair. The bass were quality though, nothing much under 2 1/2 lbs. My biggest was a 3 lb 13 oz largemouth. Because Friday was the beginning of the heat - we were catching bass down to 25 feet. And that is the number of bass we caught - around 25.

Tips: Where are the spotted bass? Other than the 4 lb 2 oz spot I caught last week, I have seen almost 0 spots in 5 trips. Thursday, most of our bass were caught on 6" Robo worms - most MMIII and oxblood/red flake. A few on morning dawn. The night trip again was successful because of the 7" black Berkley Power worm. Mike did catch some on Senkos. NO topwater action. I should have thrown crankbaits more than I did. We caught our night bass on shoreline areas with steep drop-offs and off-shore ledges. Both trips have shown me that the bass are not schooled up yet - feeding on bait. Many times we caught a single quality bass in an area - not 2 or 3. Again, our best five about 16-17 lbs.

    • Water Temp: 75

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: left Ladds at daybreak. about 40 caught but nothing over about 2.25 lbs. Most on Zoom super speed craw, senkos and red Rapala crank. Rising tide to high tide about 10am. Best 5 about 10 lbs. Hotter an blue blazes.

Tips: Crank outside weedline for prety good action. Senkos and speed craws to bank dragged out to inside weedline.

      Water Temp: 73 degrees

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Another late start but this time 7AM out of Orwood for the first time. Started with top water just outside the no-wake zone but no takers. Made my way north up to Little Mandeville, over to Mildred, down to Bullfrog Marina then back to ramp. Managed 15(!) using weightless Senko (grn pumpkin), KVD2.5 (chili craw), LV500 (Shad), Flashminnow (shad), 100SP MS American Shad. Focused on inside/outside weedlines depending on tide. Nothing over 2lbs but non-stop action was fun.
      City: San Mateo

Tips: Focus on weedlines, inside and out. Caught 'em all that way today.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: BigBuddy - Seems like conditions changed greatly from Sat-Sun with the front moving in. I wonder if that had something to do with the bite. I've got an '07 PT190 with a motor that sounds like a hair dryer. Say 'hey' if you see me.

    • Water Temp: 68

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Sun. nite to Thursday. Ran into quite a bit of rain. Fished south (like always) & fishing was spotty, not like the last few trips! We caught the majority of fish on Skinny Bear Griz. Flipping Jigs, & Texas rigged Yamamoto creature baits. We averaged 8 fish an outing ranging 2.0 - 7.1 lbs. Our best limit went 24.7 lbs, & we had to work for it! Fished into morning Monday night & picked up a few reaction fish on blades & cranks. For us this trip there was no Senko bite at all. Go figure! Weds. evening into dusk, ran into a 10 minute top water bite using the Roomba! Nailed a 5 lber & that was a thrill! I think the weather kind of altered the fishing so we'll probably be up in a few weeks to check it out! Weeds are starting to grow, let's hope it doesn't get too bad this year.

Tips: On the jig & Texas rig, we fished slow. We got a lot of our strikes throwing to the edge of weeds, slowly pulling or shaking the bait through. The fish would pick it up or hit it just as the bait came free! Good luck out there & be safe! Ted drilled the 7.1 on a Watermelon (194J) Creature Bait. The fish were close & shallow to maybe 8 - 10 ft.

      Water Temp: ?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: The water was extremely clear with over 10' visibility, dead calm and hot until 9am. Tried to finesse them with soft plastics in/around weeds unsuccessfully. Took a break until the afternoon and used reaction bait in the wind in/over weeds/wood to catch 2 lm around 2# and 3# in the narrows. Fun to watch them come up and nail your bait.
      City: dublin

Tips: Many beautiful sights around the lake kept me going when the bite was slow.

    • Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched at lime saddle about 6:15am, headed to the middle fork, but got low on gas and decided to come back to the north fork. Long ways to west fork from lime saddle in a small boat. Ended up fishing north fork and way back to Lime Saddle, I ended up with 13 spots, with one nice 16 1/2". also got a 14 3/4" and 2 14 1/2" " with the rest 13-14" Seems fish were mostly 20-38 feet deep, larger ones deeper. Dana had his best trip ever with 1 spot!!!!
      City: Magalia

Tips: Fish deep and get fish even in bright light. Texas rigs, drop shots, both working well. We used earth tones in browns. (Roboworms)

    • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: El Guapo, I fished that area on Sunday. It was a hurricane that day but did manage to pick up 13 bass and a striper. Caught most of the bass on a Texas rigged beaver and a few on a crankbait. There r a ton of good looking areas around there but couldn't fish most of them Due to the wind. Good luck

This past week has been excellent fishing for bass. Last weekend I went out with my family on my son's boat and we fished the east side of the lake where I had not been for awhile. The water was calm and we were able to drift from deeper water into shallow water while casting and retrieving crankbaits. The water was very clear and we were able to see the top of the grass and the bass swimming into and out of the grass. Lighter colored crankbait worked the best. You could see the bass chasing the lure. My daughter-in-law cast out between two grass clumps and was hit hard by a 4+ pound bass which she successfully landed (see photo). Then I cast into the same area reeled fast to get the lure down and slowly reeled in toward the boat and saw the bass explode on the lure and landed him. Early morning fishing was best with top water lures. I trolled on the way back to the launch ramp and was whacked hard by what turned out to be a nice 3 pound trout (see photo). 'til next week......................good fishing!!! www.fishingconnection.net If you have any questions or stories you would like to share please email me at bestguide@hotmail.com or call me at 650-583-3333. • Water Temp: 70-72

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched 6am B&W, expected to see more but not a lot of boat trailers. Started out on the tules in the Moke; a little windy and picked up some dinks. Tried the rock wall and picked up some keepers but nothing big; crankin lipless and shallow divers in crawdad as well as white with black back. Continued to fav hotspot and picked up a few more 1 & 2 lbers but considerably slower than the prev day's fishing. Went back and forth from various fav tules and rock wall sections and picked up more 1 & 2 lbers and also watched a very large 4-5+ lber follow a small keeper...then noticed about 2-3 others around it. Tried to immediately follow with cranks and senkos but they wouldn't take. Ended day with maybe 18-20. Cranks and senkos mainly.
      City: folsom

Tips: Not much to offer, just kinda tried crankin', then went back over and worked senkos. then back to crankin' and each time got bit, but nothing hot.
btw, my truck was vandalized and attempted break-in at B&W so watch out. Sac Sheriff Deputy responded and left a card on my windshield, so someone obviously interrupted the low-life scums and reported it. I came back to a broken rear window and both driver/passenger door locks/mechanisms disengaged. But nothing stolen. We launched at 6am; report said they responded at 7:24am...barely an hour and a half after we launched. For the next few launches, I think we're gonna return every hour or 2 just to check. ...and lord stay my hand if we catch someone. Whoever reported the break-in, THANK YOU!! I'da done the same!!

    • Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Rivers End and fished from 7-12. God was it windy!!!! Couldn't fish any of the areas I wanted to. Ended up with 13. Caught them on cranks, senkos, drop shot 1 on a frog and a beaver. All but one were rats. Never fished that far south. Awsome looking areas for flipping just to damn windy today.
      City: Lafayette

Tips: Before you take your boat out, please know how to run one. Had to tow a ski boat into today with 4 mid twenty yr olds on it. They said they had way to much oil in their motor and when I told the guy to clip the tow rope on his bow eye he asked me "where is that" all I could do is laugh. Good luck fishing everyone

    • Water Temp: 75-78

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Darn!! This would be the perfect report if I hadn't broke off a trophy largemouth right before dark. Why I still was using 8 lb test - I don't know. My client and I decided she was 7 - or bigger. Anyway, the trip was about my client - a good fisherman on his first night fishing adventure. He says he didn't even know about night fishing until I suggested it to him a few weeks ago. He caught 4 of our five big bass - his biggest largemouth at 4 lbs 10 oz. His biggest topwater bass was a 3 3/4 lb largemouth. In addition to his other 2 other good largemouth, I caught a 4 lb 2 oz spotted bass about midnight - my biggest spot ever at Berryessa. It was a quality late afternoon/night trip with quality bass and a stunningly beautiful full-moon night. Now - about that one I lost.....!!

Tips: We fished several areas in the main body only and found the bite to be somewhat slow - but consistent. In spite of his good trip - he did miss several fish. Most of our action was on main lake points or submerged steep drop-offs and ledges. Average depth was 10 to 25 feet. Bass seem to still be in post-spawn mode as there was no sign of any fish chasing bait and only heard 2 fish surface during the whole 7 hrs. The big fish was lost on a black 7" Berkley Power worm and all the after-dark bass were caught on that bait. It is my favorite summer bait at Berryessa.

Report: Launched out of River's End around 6:30AM. Fished the sloughs around Clifton Court and Coney Island until 2PM. At one point ran up to the tule beds around the train tracks and caught a couple dinks on weightless green pumpkin senko. Marking fish everywhere but could not get them to bite. Threw LV500/150, LC Flashminnow, A-rig, chatter bait in bluegill pattern and senko mentioned above. Is anyone else doing better around this area?
      City: San Mateo

Tips: Don't fish with/around me. I'm bad luck apparently.

    • Water Temp: 69-71

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: launched b&w 630am; a few bass boats ahead of us. started around the bend on the moke. water was colder than last week...69deg... had 1 bassboat with some cool guys who just chatted up with us a bit...they had just lost a good one. then they moved across to work the rock wall. my bud and I continued on down past the first dock and on to our fav tule islands....a few dinks but nothing...wind was really picking up. managed 2 good keepers and about 5-6 almost working a lighter crankbait (little mini speedtrap) on spinning gear right up against the tules....cranke twice as soon as the bait hit the tule wall, then stopped and waited...if I didn't get hit, cranked 1 or 2x and would get hit. the earlier bassers came across to us about an hour later and said it was wide open along the opposite rock wall. they reached in and showed us a nice 2-3lber, one of many they said. they went back and we moved on to same side but further down. only managed a couple of barely keepers. so we moved up to sycamore but nothing there...wind was still crazy. moved out to the main slough outside of sycamore and picked up a solid 3lber on blk/red flk senko. decided to move back to main moke and whaddya know, the wind throttled back so we worked some fav hotspots for a total of about 30, about a dozen and a half keepers...water at this point was 71 degrees, still not warm like last weekend but sun was out and it got em movin' around. I even picked up 2 at 1 time on my Jackall Aragon jointed squarebill.... 1st one hit, then 2nd one tried to take it away....lots of fun!
      City: folsom

Tips: if crankin, throw right up against the tules and just crank 1-2x and stop/pause, the slow roll or crank a couple times. if they're in those tules, they'll come out and take it. also waited for the warmer late morning early pm to throw cranks against the rockwalls and posts....many bass had crawfish in their throats and were bloated from feeding. you'd think they were still ready to spawn .... even the 1-12 inchers looked like they had eggs, but it was just a fat belly from gorging on craws.

ok, well, hope all the pro-ams out there aren't laughin' at my report....but it's what got us some fish on the hook today....a good day.

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at 8 when the ramp opened. Missed whatever top water bite there was. Threw rebel pop-r anyways on the east side across from ramp near the trees but no luck. Partner got a dink on Rapala floating jerk bait, green olive herring pattern. Cranked the shore with shad pattern 12' diver but no bites. Hit the point just after the no wake zone at the north end. Marked a bunch of fish but no bites. Pitched the weed bed just after the point, still no bites. Jerk bait on the dam with flashminnow, got bit but he spit it out! Water was gin clear up there too. Hit the inlet at the north end and got a couple bites but no hook ups.
      City: San Mateo

      Tips: None. Got skunked!

    • Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: hit the lake about 7 for the first time ever. threw the kitchen sink at them from shallow to bout 30ft and not a lil nibble. as it was the first time we fished up the river till around lunch time. great looking lake just have to find the right cover and structure then things should change
