Report: Fished Big Break at 6:30 and was off the water by 12:30. It was just to darn HOT! Managed to p/u 6 fish all in the 1.5 to 2.0 range. Tryed buzzbaits, worms, cranks and even worked the cheese with a frog, but caught all my fish on a pearl fluke, skipping it to the edge of the tules. When my bag of flukes was to hot to pick up I knew it was time to git!

Tips: Skip to the edge, let it sink then twitch it once and let it sink again. P.S. Could'nt have said it better myself Stevebass!

Report: Spent Thursday 8th through Sunday the 11th on a houseboat and went out every morning in the Champion to check the ishing. We were anchored up the McCloud and since I don't normally ish there, decided to do all my ishing there and had a ball. Very little top water or rip bite and had them taking worms rom the get go and colors varied rom Oxblood to Oxblood with chartruese tail on a darthead. Fish ranged in the standard 1-2 pound with a ew going over 2-3 and plenty o ish until breakast time at 10:AM. Most ish came o secondary points or deep clay banks.
      City: Wheatland

Tips: Using a little heavier darthead (1/4 oz) on 6 lb line and long casts as the ish have very good visibility in the clear water. Worked real slow as all the bites were a pressure bite.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Did a couple o aternoon-night trips Sat and Mon. Fish are not too active at night yet because o the cold weather. I trust that will change this week!! Not catching too many, but the quality is good - several in the 4 to 5 1/2 lb range - 18 lb limit Sat, 17 1/4 on Mon. I tried working a Rodstrainer jig with a jerk-hop motion I'm developing thru weeds, and a 4 1/2 pounder nailed it. I mean NAILED IT!! Maybe I'm on to something (probably not). That was on the south side o Konocti Bay, about 7 pm. On the way in, I showed my client how we ish rockpiles later on in the year. He got bit on a zipper worms and landed a 5-2. Wow, could Fall be just around the corner - I wish!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: As some o the reports suggest, the ish have been sluggish since the water temp dropped 6 degrees in 5 days. Dead-stick and watch or subtle pickups (non bites) until the water gets well back into the 70's. Topwater by the weekend??

Then I lost a monster, got a chance to see her beore she took me in the tules never to be seen again (10+). We lost one more good ish as it shook the hook at the boat.
