Report: Fished Calero last Friday and this Monday in the afternoon. Spinnerbaited Bailey Cove area. 5 bass Friday, 1.5 - 2.5 lbs. 3 bass Monday same size range. One fish on 4 inch worm mojo-rigged. Water is in good shape, saw small minnows, lots of life in coves. All fish appeard to be bucks in 2-5 ft. of water. Saw swirls shallow of much larger fish several times, but couldn't tell if they were large females or carp. It's really starting to feel fishy out there!

      Water Temp: 57

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Boat is in the shop so I took the ol' kick boat out to Rock Slough for a few hours of fishing. Didn't get bit till about 11 am. Caought 4 total, 3 keepers. Could not establish any pattern except for fish seemed to be hanging on the outside of weedlines near drops. First fish took a slow rolled white spinnerbait. Second took a jig n pig in the same spot. Last tow took a soft jerk bait fished over the weeds toward deep water. Long pauses between jerks to let the bait drift down. Fish were hiting at the top of the high tide. Made many casts to shore cover but no bites at all there. Good luck.
      City: San Ramon

Tips: Bites were aggressive but fish seemed to want a slow presentation. Took a swim grub trailer off the jig and put a pork chunk. That seemed to make a difference. Visability to about 1 foot only.

      Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Guided a husband and wife today and found the fishing fair. We worked hard for five largemouth and three smallies - seven were tournament keepers. The lady caught her biggest bass ever - a 2-15 smallmouth. They missed several too. We fished the narrows and west side from Steele Park to the ranger station. We found the fish in the back of coves with murky water and on secondary points. Because of the wind, it was hard to fish them in much open water. One fish on a terminator spinnerbait, one on a morning dawn Magic worm, and the rest on purple or brown Rodstrainer jigs with matching Yamamoto grubs. Big smallie was in 4 feet of water - back of a cove - caught on a jig. Tried a little rippin, but it didn't work for us. No matter - the jig bite was ok!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: Jigs are hard to beat this time of year for quality fish. I find purple worms and jigs work well at Berryessa year after year. Even when the water warms a little, I like to work them slow, with frequent pauses. I find jigs hard to beat this time of year for q
