Report: This last weekend I fished the Delta with the Whimpy's team tournament. We had a good turn out. This was the first time I have fished one of Whimpy's tournaments and I will say that it was well ran. The lunch that came with the tournament was good and the air conditioning felt real good in the mid day heat. We fished a 6 hr. tournament. Money to the top 5 places, it took 9.60 lb to make the money. The fishing was not all that good for the most but we did get a number of limits. The water was cloudy with water temp. as low a 64 deg. Last week I fished the West side with 79 deg. water. First thing in the morning most of the fish came to top water for most of the fisherman then some came to blades but most of the fish came flipping when the water started moving, jig's, worm's were both working with little difference to color. Keep your lines wet and good luck. Rick K. of Ca for Champion Boats

Report: Fished the Delta on Sunday 7/19. The water was very stained to muddy. I spent the day from Holland track north to Sherman. Tried jigs, traps and blades. Few fish were caught and they were small. Only 4 keepers were picked up (out of 7 total) and they ranged between 1 and 2 pounds. With the low tide, the grass edges seemed to be the best. No special color seemed to dominate. I tried again on Monday hoping that the water color would improve with less boat traffic. No such luck. After a miserable m orning I lucked on to a 50 to 60 yard stretch in the southwest corner around Coney Island and picked up 10 to 12 fish on a white/chartreuse blade ranging in size from 1.5 to 3.5 pounds. I tried a lot of other things with no real success even in spots tha t normally produce with consistency.

Report: Fished the WCB team this lat weekend. Started out pitching brown 3/8 oz jigs-n-pigs to rocky banks with wood structure on the begining of the outgoing tide. Noticed that we were getting a lot of runnaways, fish were on beds with the full moon. July, imagine that! We then move out west past the Antioch bridge, to catch the lowest tide, and began flipping any and all wooded structure we cold find to upgrade our limit. Culled out all but 1 small 2 pounder doing this. Ran back to Big Break and caught three more cullers on a 4" ring worm to finish off a 19.44 pound 7 fish limit. Took 2nd and the winners had 19.48 with a 6.5 kicker.

Report: Had to drive by the lake so I couldn't resist dragging my little boat down or a couple o hours. I launched out o the M&M campground in ront o the keys at about 2 a.m. and ished until 8:30 a.m. The water had dropped about a oot and the algae bloom had reduced the visibility several eet down there. The moon was bright and the wind was not there. I caught a 5 and some smaller bass to 2 lbs on big brushhogs right in ront o the keys, moved out to some o the close rockpiles and didn't get a bite. The sun was begining to rise so i moved to the area were we caught ish last week. Started o with the brushhog but couldn't get bit, moved around a little then came back with a splitshot 6" spade tail had to ish it really slow but they were there. Landed 7 more nice ish to 5.5 in the irst two hours o light, then they quit. Nine ish over 1.5lbs, best ive were about 21.5, well worth the lack o sleep or me.
      City: Arcata

Tips: I had conidence that ish were using that area again so i scaled down and slowed down. I would hook a ish and move out or several minutes then come back in and get another one, couldn't get bite right away again. I you ind active ish stick with that area or a while and get out there early.
