Report: Took ole Besse out on her maiden fishing trip yesterday, break in is done so to speak and it was back to fishing. Went out with Ray Martinez on a special Jig lesson trip. We started ou though tossing topwater as the word was that bite was now in full swin g, Yeah right, NOT! 1:30 never got a boil on top water. I turned to Ray and said, it's time for your jig lesson. Went out to Dutch and pulled on a levee point and commenced to Kerthunk em! No really big fish, but enough to start the day right. Then decide d to start showing him different techniques and patterns and all hell broke loose. We pulled up to a nothing bank and musta stuck six fish over 3 pounds on that brown jig. I tried the black one and Ray was just stickin em on the brown. I couldn't get bit, nuff of that, I went back to brown. Rocks and grass, fish were everywhere. It was kinda odd as all these bigger fish were spent females with inverted bellies. Most probably would have been in the four pound or range three weeks ago. Then went off and fli pped some tulles, did so so. The tide was now falling, very slowly, it was dropping but no real movement could be detected. I know what to do when that happens, off to a couple of secrete deep weed lines and KERTHUNK! Found em! Again, no toads but just a lot of solid fish. We bounce around various spots of this nature and just continued to hammer em! It was a great day and we were off the water before 3:00p and probably caught over 70 fish! HAAAPEEEEEEE! Cooch

Tryed crank, spinners and plastic worms at various times.Caught small bass 9in. or so with crank in about 10 eet o water by casting toward bank and then retreiving away rom bank. Report: Been out off and on this last week breaking in the new motor. Have not spent a lot of time fishing but when I do there seems to be a fairly decent crankbait bite. The big Speed trap is working very well right on the bank with sparce tulles and grass. Caug ht some very nice fish on Friday on the top of the high tide. The jig bite continues to be strong, ya gotta be versatile though and rotate the brown and black. It seems it changes from day to day and area to area, I went out Monday with TomG, they were al l over the brown one. While out Friday and today, I really spanked em on the Black one in clearer water. The brown would only work in the stained water areas. We've got a good falling tide this week for the WON Classic, should be some very decent weights.

THE WATER WAS CLEAR UNDERNEATH THE SILT. I MOVED OUT TO A COUPLE OF LARGE ELEVATED DOCKS WHICH FORMED A POINT TO THE SLOUGH AND FOUND FISH UNDER THEM. THE WATER WAS QUITE DEEP(18-30FT).MOVED FROM THE DOCKS TO WHEELER POINT-KONOCTI BAY SECTION, AND PICKED UP 2 MORE NICE FISH ON THE BABY BRUSH HOG(2.5 & 3PDS), BUT HAD A 5 OR MORE POUNDER SHORT HIT MY SPINNER BAIT AT THE BOAT. SAW SEVERAL MORE CHASING IT BUT NO TAKERS. MOVED OUT TO MONITOR ISLAND AND HAD NO ACTION.STOPPED BACK AT THE PIRATES COVE DOCKS ON THE WAY HOME AND PICKED UP 3 MORE NICE FISH (2-4 PDS) IN JUST 20 MINUTES TIME(BABY BRUSH HOG). LONG TIME BETWEEN BITES, BUT QUALITY FISH EACH TIME YOU SET THE HOOK!
