California Delta
-
Water Temp: 59-63
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Last weekend the Delta was kicking out some toads. Temperature drops and frontal conditions makes fishing tough for most anglers. But the tournament guys in the WCB Forrest Wood Open managed to adjust and catch a ton of great fish. The temp drop and weather changes have forced the fish off their spawning schedule again for the 3rd consecutive month. The fish have moved back out to the transition areas and are hunkering down in the thick weeds and tulles berms. Fishing these areas with jig-n-pigs will catch the best limits. Best colors are brown & black jigs with various trailors in blue, purple and red. There also hads been an all day crank bite on long rock levees with sparce tulles and weeds. Red Bombers, Speed & Rattle Traps will do the trick. Occ tionally you can nail a toad on a Fire Tiger pattern. Also fish big White/Chartrues spinnerbaits are attracting big bites. If you are out just looking for lots of bites tossing a white Frog or Zoom Fluke into open water pockets, will result in large numbers of 2-3 pounders. Large black worms and lizards have also been very affective on what bedding fish you can find. The top water bite is far and few between, but when it's on, it's on for a day or two and then dissapears for a week.

Water Temp: warm
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Started out the a little late, got out there about 10am. First went to the side o the lake where all the camping is at and not a ish to be ound. My wie and I change the type o lure rom a spinner to a Pumpkin seed color shad. We then moved to the river part o the lake, ished the trees and caught 15 small mouth bass. We used the lure in a pretty ast motion. The bass where sitting in about 6 eet o water at the time. it was the irst time to the lake and we had a wonderul time. Water was very calm, and warm, not too many people out there. It was a week day though.
City: RosevilleTips: Fish the river part o the lake. Use a Pumkin Seed color shad, and reel it in using a med. to ast speed. Look or the trees in about 6 to 10 eet o water.

Water Temp: N/A
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: This is in response to Mr. Cliord Barnes's ishing report dated April 24, 1998. Mr Barnes, I have been ishing Lake Camanche or the past 15 years and eel that it is one o the premire bass ishing lakes in northern Caliornia as well as southern Caliornia. Now that I live in southern Caliornia I still make the six hour drive about once every othern month to ish Lake Camanche. All too many times anglers orget that the point o ishing is the act that we are away rom the oice enjoying the gret outdoors, possible with a loved one or a close riend. I have many memorable outting with my ather and best riend when the ishing was good and not so good. The point is I enjoyed each outing and have ond memories o them today. My advice to Mr. Brnes is to start ishing. Yes, dry the tears rom your eyes and and enjoy what Lake Camanche has to oer. By the way--three ive pound bass this weekend! Spring and summertime:Morning-- ish the coves and drop o structures o the river with 4 to sixinch pumpkin seed worms. Evening (i not too windy)--ish the causway with anything..Very productive during these months. GREAT COVER

Water Temp: 62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hit the lake early around 6am. Went to north side first thing. Caught three keepers(1 to 2 pounds) before sunrise. After sunrise hit points that were sunny caught 7 keepers(1 to 2 pounds). Caught fish on mostly grub jigs(motoroil color) on a 1/4 ounce wei ght. Worked lure slow bouncing off the bottom. Also, caught a few on a 1/4 ounce white spinner bait. The rest were on a deep water crank bait. All fish were caught in about 12-15ft of water. the fish are not attacking the lure hard. Fish are still lazy an for best result use a spin cast rod (med. to light weight), light line (8-10pds) for best feel. Had no luck catching anything after 12pm. The sun was out but no action. Fished the sticks later in the day with no results.

Water Temp: 61
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished in the rain. Full moon - had to do it! NOt one other boat on the lake. Found spots on rocky banks - lat, not steep, and did well with a white/white 1/2 blade. Caught 12 keepers with 8 going 3.2 to 3.9 pounds. Not sure why they were there, just glad they were. One thing o interest all the ish were spiiting up crawdads, not minnows as I would have thought. tips: I like to use a zoom super luke (white Pearl as my trailer) I cut the head o at the start o the belly and then cut o the belly lap. This creates a much bigger proile which I thinks helps. Also I ALWAYS use a stinger hook 3/0 Gamakatsu Siwash. Almost all the ish last night were caught on the stinger.
