Report: Our club, Beach Cities Bass, held a two-day tournament fishing out of Ladd's. The front that passed through seemed to turn off the big fish, however on Sunday, one of our guys caught a 9.92 on a firetiger crank. Fish were biting firetiger cranks, obviou sly, and red shad power worms. I caught four on topwater Sunday morning before my engine overheated. Locals towed me to Tiki Lagun, which provided transportation to Ladd's out of the kindness of their hearts. My deepest thanks to all.

Report: Fished the WON Delta team region last Saturday. Due to winds that blew on Thursday, Friday and very heavy on Saturday, the Delta has muddied up signifacantly with the low tides. This made fishing conditions very tough to target the post spawn fish who mov ed onto the beds the previous weekend. We caught a number of fish early on Speed Traps and Bombers, first thing in the morning, working the transitions rock banks leading to/from spawning areas. As the day wore on we moved to the backs of shallow flats an targeted bed fish by dead sticking a Zoom lizard in areas that looked fitting for a bed. Biggest fish of the day was a 4.98 for us. Top weight for the tournament was 23 pounds for 5 fish. So the bigger fish have moved off and were tough to catch. Jigs, 1 in worms and blades were used by the top 10 teams to catch most of the better fish

Report: We launched at the free lramp at the south end of lake. We headed toward the big island to fish some submerged trees where I site fished the previous week to produced a limit plus cull, of one to three pounders. Fishing was good. We found fish in the t ree tops even though the water was not as clear as previous due to unusual moss on the surface. My partner caught two bass one over three on a black 4in worm before I could even get the trolling moter down. That bite ended and we tried similar paterns f r the next two hours to produce only two more bass. We decided to head to the north end and fish Pope creek. Lost the biggest bass of my life on a chartruse spinnerbait. How big? Plus ten. Hung a couple more bass in the one pound range. Moved to Pu ah creek and contiued fishing using spinerbaits, crankbaits in crawdad paterns, and spinerbaits four more to two pounds. Found some submerged trees in a tributary off Putah creek, went to micro jigs in white and caug! Caught eight slab crappie to two pou ds. Twelve bass to three and a half pounds and eight huge crappie. Not a bad day. keeps you motivated on those off days.

Report: Fished 25th and 26th in the Pit arm caught and released 43 bass, mostly smallmouth with a ew bigmouth. Biggest ish was 3.5 bigmouth. Caught all ish on 2 1/2in pumpkinseed grub with a 1/8 bullet. Weather was diicult or the most part, rain, wind evena little sleet. Fish were deep 30 to 40' o o the clis. I you like the cold now is the time to get in some great smallmouth ishing. tips: I like to use smaller grubs in the 2-2 1/2in in the pumpkinseed color. Also try black or purple with chartreusetail. Tender Tubes also work.

Report: Chico Bass Club held their Spring Spectacular on the 24th, 107 teams showed or the sping event. A well done to the Chico Club. They run a tourny as good i not better than most Pro circuts! It was a day to remember ormysel and my parnter Back Seat Wi lly. We had been on ish in this particular location in the South Fork since the New Year. It proved its sel once again! Willy and I started there that morning and stayed there all day. The bite was on early that morning. Throwing brush hogs rigged inve ted to make it immulate a live dad, we pitched the 6in blue saphire with a 2/0 Berkley o set and a nail weight in the head so the head alls irst and the lippers or claws react to the line when you lit the rod tip! Ten lb. xt and 20t. o water arou d wood and you've got the key ingrediants. We caught ish all day, but, the high pressure and the N. wind put the bite o. We weighed 14.26 with a 4.77 kicker to win the tourny. Try this method with the brush hogs. I would like to thank Willy or being great partnet and Ryan Olenberger or the help durring pre ish. Report: I ished at Camanche with a buddy o mine, and my sister. We ished the south shore, and in two hours there we only saw two ish landed in the whole area. There were about 250 people ishing the area. All we ever hear is the big ish that are caught. I am here to tell the truth, Camanche is the worst ishing I have ever seen in my lie. I I wanted ishing that sucked that bad I could o saved 10 dollars and ished Folsom. Sorry people, but the truth shall set you ree. Camanche is a conspiracy, I would like to know how much people are paid to say they caught ish at Camanche. Come to think o it, the two ish I saw caught in the pond were not moving when they were landed. I could do the same thing spending 5 dollars at Raley's, and putting a ish on myine and casting it out and reeling it in and jumping up and down. CAMANCHE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Report: Weather was rainy in morning, went out in afternoon approaching high tide. Rain just letting up. Wind was picking up out of the west. I fished the wind protect side of heavy rocked banks with tule stands in the central delta. Flipped zipper worms into a nd amoung the tules. Came out with a 3.5 pounder on the second flip. I moved down a little, with only the slightest tap on the line, I set the hook, all hell broke loose as an 8 1/2 pound pre-spawn female came to the surface on the end of the line. She' only my second one over 8.0 this spring. Caught another 4.2 pounder also prespawn. Several smaller fish also. Sixteen pounds for three fish in a little over an hour, what a day. Where are those fish on gameday? tips: Red and orange zipper worm from Wack , 5/0 wide extra wide gap hook, braided line, 1/8 oz. brass and glass. Don't get your drag too tight with braided line. The stretch has to come from somewhere. When the big one hit, the first thing I did was check my drag to make sure it would give just a very little bit when she ran. This makes up for the lack of stretch that you get from mono line.
