Report: Just wanted to check the lake out and get some sun. Felt i I could get 2 or 3 hits it would be a good day. Started in the morning on main body with jig and pig, worms. Took 3 ish in irst 2 hours. One was 7lb.2oz. the other 2 about 2lb. Fish were 30 to35 eet deep. Worked another 1 1/2 hours no ish. I then started moving shallower as water warmed. Started hitting ish in about 23 to 25 eet deep on island tops with scattered brush. It seemed like I needed to touch brush or wood then the ish would takthe jig or worm. Ended up taking 12-15 ish, most on worms about 1 1/4 lb. to 1 1/2lb. The larger ish came on jigs. Never made it up river. Ran out o time. Good luck.

Report: Fishing in the Delta since New Years day has been very tough for most anglers. One or two bites a day are common reports. The bass have hunkered done in a very unusual winter pattern. Most active fish seem to be in the main river channels along rocky leve es with a good weed line. These fish are most susceptable to cranks. The Lure Jenson Speed Trap continues to be the hot bait. Although anglers are still catching fish on Bombers. Fire reds and Fire tiger (chartruese/green) seem to be most productive. Thek ey aspect of working these cranks this time of year, is to go slow, then slower and even slower yet. Just slow enough to tick the weeds. You may not even feel the bite. Most times the bass just come right up behind it and takes it while still swimming toa rds you. At this point there must be an extreme concentrated effort on what that rod and bait are doing. If ya can't detect the crank wobblin, SET the Hook! There are also a few guys out there catchin Jig & worm fish on this same pattern. These are probal e the most difficult to catch but will be better fish. Black & Chartruesse tail worms are working best as are black jigs with dark pork trailers. There is a secondary pattern that is producing on weed flats. These are most often found in dead end sloughso r marinas. Toss a rattle trap/lipless crank in Chrome/black or Delta Chartruesse. Last of the outgoing tide is best. This bait is an exceptional cold water, winter time bait for bass on the Delta. It too will produce larger fish and worked slow

Report: Fished this last Saturday in the Big Break & Taylor areas. With all the fronts and winds of late the Delta has been hit very hard with cold area and mud. Needless to say fish is very tough. I was able to catch fish on 12'-18' shakin a big 1/2 oz black rat tlin jig. All fish were 2-2.5 lbs and very silver, almost white. This is due to the mud and lack of light penetration. Caught a total of 11 keepers all after 1:00p. Then fished on Sunday with Pat Dilling, gave him a guided tour of Disco Bay, needless to s y no bass or babes were seen on this very cold bluebird day. 1st warming clear day these bass on the Delta just shut down. Give it a couple of warm days or a nasty storm and the bite will be back.I think if I had had my Color-C-lector it would have read G HOM la

Report: My two good riends, Willy (Backseat) Santos, and Ryan (Pikador)Ollenburger, ished a turkey shoot with the local boys o the Oroville Bass Club. The weather was bad or most but, or Willy and Ryan it was just how they like it. When the ishing gets toug h, they get tougher. Howling winds and battering rains was the plan or the day. Willy and Ryan ished the North Fork pitching home made jigs in 15' o water to take 1st place in the local shoot out. The jig they used was a pattern that imatates the Pondm elt that are so prevalant this time o year. It is the best looking Pond Smelt jig I've ever seen! I've been out with the two on several occasions ,and each time the jig kicks Ass!!!!! Congradulations to you guys. You did your home work and it showed. By the way, the two had to ish their secondary water as the winds kept them rom getting to their good water. Keep a Sti Rod. HawgMan Jones.....
