Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished at Middle River (the section along Bacon Island Road) all day yesterday. A riend wanted to go out and ool around on the Delta beore moving back East so we arrived just ater high tide and worked the usual spots with the usual methods (inside weedlines/rock banks with craw colored plastics). Had no problem nailing them even in the midday sun ater the tide had gone out. Started out with 4" red/blue worms (with a 1/16 oz bullet weight and red glass bead) and got a bunch o one-and-a-hal-pounders; switched to Baby Brush Hogs in watermelon candy (that's watermelon w/ blue lake) and caught bigger ones but nothing over 2 pounds. They were holding tight so you had to pitch right into the tulles; the numbers were higher rom ishing the inside weedlines. Lots o skiers as expected, and the water was pretty muddied up but the ish still homed in on plastics, even 4" oerings. We ished the likely spots and just scooted up the road ater working an area over.Ater packing it in I decided to stop at that irrigation ditch at the Woodward Island cable erry just to ool around. The ditch is right next to the levee; the oot o the ditch, where the gates to the main river are, is much like a arm pond and is partially ringed with tulle. Stuck a couple dinks on a 4" junebug worm and one on a rog patterned Chug Bug. I've heard o a ew big ones that have been pulled out o there but or the most part, the bass population probably consists mostly o dinks sucked in rom the main river.Altogether, I caught + released 10 bass. You gotta change locations a lot but they's still catchable, even rom the bank.

Report: went out to holt this morning to ish rom shore. couldnt get anything on my buzz bait or spinnerbait. Fished it or a ew miles down the road in whiskey. Drove over to Bacon Island and ished a 1/8 speed trap, cht/wht spinnerbait. I ished a ew more miles and only picked up ish where the current ran into the rocks on shad speed trap. I re-ished the shore back to my car with brush hogs and senko's with no takers. best "and only" ish went 4 lbs. Let around 10:30

Tips: share your knowledge. Ater a year o only reading the reports I igured I should give my new isherman report anyway. It might help someone. These reports have helped me greatly!

      Water Temp: 68 - 70

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: ished newbass semi pro with my bud, Sammy "mayday" Alusa. Had no real plan going in, so hit new area I ound on the 4th o July trip. it held up, and we caught a ew nice keepers in the area. Made last minute run to a slough intersection, and was able to cull out two more. Hal day tourney, 13.78# was good enough or 9th out o 41, which is respectable or us!!![thanks mayday or a good day!]
      City: belmont

Tips: dock ishing wasn't doing it. With a hal day tourney, you gotta stick with an area and work it (we did best around Franks). zippers & senkos did it or us. winners reported using buzzbaits and cranks. Tules near deep water - tight to tules or o in ront o weedline.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Wanted to launch the truckbed tin can at Trapper Slough o Hwy 4 but my ishing pardner was out o town so I pounded the banks o Middle River along Bacon Island Rd. yesterday aternoon. Arrived just ater high tide and started working inside weedlines and tulle stands with 4" shad-craw straight tail worms T-rigged with a 1/16th oz weight. It was a inessing-or-quantity type day I guess.Pounded the rock banks ater working the weeds and lost a 3-4 pounder when he surged just as I got him close to shore; that's the absolute last time I use 6 lb line when ishing rocks. What a heartbreaker. I switched over to a casting rig with heavier line and started working the old dock pilings near the electrical sub-station and nailed a 2 pounder and then 3 pounder and made up or the loss. Ater working various spots up the road and picking up some nice ish in the 2 pound range I decided to make my last stand where I broke o the nice one and ended up pulling out a couple one-and-a-hal-pounders and a baby striped bass. The last ones were caught on a Cultiva Rip-N-Minnow, which always seems to work when the plastics stop producing. Side note: a 5 1/2 oot water snake swam right up to the bank, by my eet. I must've jumped 3 eet to my right and nearly ell; it stayed there or a couple minutes beore slithering into the underbrush. I've no idea i these things are venomous or not so I didn't try to pick him up with a stick or anything--I'd have hated chopping o my leg with a dull tackle box knie had he bitten me.Talked to another bankie who said he'd been picking them up with purple spinnerbaits earlier in the day. I ended releasing 17 bass total (a 3 pounder, a good number o 2 pounders and a bunch o dinks)--my personal best or the area. Not bad, and a bit surprising considering I was bank ishing and that these were midday ish.
      City: SF

Tips: Finessing with 4" worms in crawish colors has been producing quite well in that area or the last month and a hal. You'll pick up a high percentage o dinks but it's a consistent producer.

Report: Wow why does it always blow on Tournament day, Started out buzzing rocks and weeds in the break but no takers, partner caught 3 on the small orange speed trap one 3.75lber, then I got one on the PJ pop and another on a cht rattle trap. We then started lipping and caugh a 5 lber deep 10t, on a jig and culled a couple more just lippin tules on high water, as the tide started out went to the rocks again and only ound small ish. So back to lippin the jig on the tules as the water was going out we culled a couple more and then landed a 3lber on the last cast.

Tips: The bigger ish are in the current and deeper ish the breaks 1/2oz jig keep the boat o the bank and work it back slow.

Report: Launched out o Orrwood Saturday around 6:00amHeaded up towards Holland resort. Between the two I landed 9 keepers, 4 in one hole that I caught on a white w/black spinnerbait. The others came on senkos and a buzzbait. Only two rog blowups or the weekend. First time in area so I kind o got lost but eventually got to discovery bay the long way. Somewhere there is a train that cuts through the delta and the bridge closest to Disco bay there is a levee o rocks with no moss (ew reeds). I pulled six o the wall around 1:30 pm including a 61/2lb Stripper. All came on a crawdad wiggle wart with yellow eyes. No more ishin that day, Sunday got out late 9:00am 2 senko ish (salt and pepper) 3 on the wiggle and 1 on a bluegill color crank. Plan to do it again Friday, hope it cools down and the skiers give me a break. Small boat, big waves, very challenging. Man that guy skis ast and don't those rich guys have anything else to do than run their gigantic Miami Vice speed boat up and down the sloughs at top speed???

Report: Got a late start, launched at the Lazy M at noon. Stayed down south. Caught a nice 2 1/2lb rog ish right o the bat. Had at least a dozen more blow up on the rog but couldn't hook'em (I hate that). Got smart and started throwing a rootbeer senko behind the rog blow-ups and picked up a ew o em. Mostly ones and two's. Took a two hour break to ski and tube with the girlriend. Back at it around 5, got a 3lb'er on a pink luke in Italian, lost another. Finished throwing a buzzer or the last hour or so o light. Boated another 4 or 5 ish included a second 3lb'er. Missed 2 or 3 including one I'd have to guess was at least a our. WHERE'S ALL THE BIG FISH THIS YEAR? I HAVEN'T BOATED ANYTHING OVER A 4 ON THE DELTA SO FAR.....
      City: TRACY

Tips: Fished mostly rocks and docks. Most o my ish hit very aggressively. Fish the shadows during mid day.

Report: Got out Sunday morning and launched at B&W. The wind didn't seem too bad until we got on the main channel and even worse when we entered Frank's Tract. It was a real "mutter", until we made it to Old River. Fished an outgoing tide in the calmer area o Quimley throwing Flukes and Senkos into the outer tule area dropping into deeper water. No luck at all, so we decided to conront the wind and moved in the Old River channel looking or rocky areas between the tule/weeds. It was tough ishing, especially or me driving the boat, but my partner Bill did O.K. as he hauled in a couple o 2# throwing Red/Char Timber Crank (a shallow runner). It took me near the end o the day or me to inally hook something decent, i you call a 2.5# decent with a char spinner bait with single colorado blade. It was tough ishing overall, but it still beats working.
