Report: Fished the lake on Sunday with alot o success. Found a huge shad population that was keeping every bird on the lake pretty well ed. Spooned a big ish in the bait and ater a 5 min. struggle it came unbuttoned. OH WELL!!! I want to believe it was a cat i hit in the side...Anyhow back to the bass report hooked over 30 ish. I called it a combo trip minnows and drop shot ish i was able to spoon 3 solid keepers to 3.5 lbs. Hooked only 12 or so ish on minnows with the biggest at an even 4lbs. All very solid at ish. towards the end o the day and actually a little bit into the night we drop shotted 15+ keepers to 3lbs or so a ew dinks mixed in but mostley 1.5 to 2.5lb solid belly illed ish. Im headed back up this riday hitting that break in the weather looking or a monster. Ill post another report sat or sun telling all about the day...Oh last thing the bigger the minnow the better biggest came on the biggest minnow we had in the box

Report: A little late but the Sonoma County Belly Boat Bass Club (www.scbbbc.homestead.com) had their inal regular season tourney on the 15th and had a great crowd o 29 tubers! There were quite a bit o ish caught but not the size most thought were going to be around. Most ish seemed to be caught on either speedtraps or rattle traps with a ew caught dropshotting and jigs. Winning weight or the tournament was 18.45 lbs or 5 ish with three ish in the 4 lb range. All those ish were caught crankin' between 2 - 9 eet o water. Big ish o the tournament was only 6 lbs (a couple ish).
      City: San Jose

Tips: Crank bite is on. I you catch one make sure to make the same cast as they are schooling up and multiples will be had.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished sun, mon and hal o tues. Most o the lake still has a lot o stain to it but we ound some crystal clear areas up north in the canals. Rip baits and drop shot accounted or about 25 on sat and over 40 tue morn, mostly 1-2lb's, 2 ish over 3. Mon we concentrated on south end. Again, drop shot and rip bait picked up some ish, but all the better bites were on jigs still not much size. Went out sun night and threw jigs till midnight. We targeted main lake points and deep rock piles. My irst was 7.5, second went 5.14, my girlriend boated a 5.0 and another about 3 something, the only our boated. Mon night was much colder, same pattern but only managed 3 little guys.
      City: TRACY

Tips: Dress warm, sun was raining, mon was reezing and tues was hot by 11am ??? Fight the ish not the elements, have un...

      Water Temp: 55 to 60, I rea

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: I had two customers out rom San Jose. It was very ""cold""in the morning. We started at 7:30 and lake was socked in with a og bank or the irst couple o hours. We drop shotted the upper end o the lake, docks, rocky point, etc. They caught an released over 20 ish, lot's o dink's some in the two pound range. At the last stop, and the very last cast, Roy, my customer said I think I have a good one, drag was singing, I decided to get the net, nine lber in the boat, beautiul ish. Photo on page three o website. www.ishclearlake.com
City: Nice (upper end o the lake)

Tips: Weather very unstable today, (nov 7th) wind and rain, water will be very muddy. ABA tournament championship this Sat out o Lakeport. Spinnerbaits and Chartreuse crankbaits will probably be the ticket to the bigger ish. Expect wind and rain i you plan to ish this weekend.

      Water Temp: 69

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Decided on clear Lake because o the number o boats on the Delta. launched out o clear Lake Oaks and stayed in the east arm all day (less tournament boats in that arm). cranked speed traps and DD14's in am and caught 10 along rock walls. mostly 1.5 to 3 lbs. Fish came in 2-6 t. Firetiger was our best color. moved to rattlesnake and cranked deeper w/ DD22's or a single 3 pounder. Slow miday bite but things picked up in early aternoon. Docks with weeds produced about 10 bass on purple plastics. inished up on east side rock walls and hooked 8 more 2 bigger ish came unbuttoned on speed traps. Great day on the water. Top 5 only 14.5 but had 30 or so or the day. went with mostly shallow water pattern because Oct. 4th my partner and I landed over 50 with 3 over 10 lbs. on speed traps. Best day I've been associated with.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: Commiting to crankin shallow helped us stay ocased. Firetiger seem to be the bigger ish color.

Report: Fished with the Cottonwood Bass club on sat and sun. Saturday I ished docks almost all day but couldnt get any keepers, so my boater Je Nichols and I moved to weeds and docks and I only end up getting 1 ish 2 something on a splitshot 6" FX series robo work in baby bass. I end day one with 1 ish 2.35..DAY TWO I ished with Chris Laskowski, he got me on ish early and oten, we used rattle traps on windblown weed line points and got some 2 lbers and a 4.8 or him. I lipped a green pumpkin brushhog and got a limit o almost two lbers. ended day two with 5 or 9.35. Thanks to Cottonwood or a great tournament and too my boaters Je and Chris
      City: redding

Tips: windblown points, rattle traps(blue/chrome) also lip brushhogs, and use jigs on rocks, I have a new avorite lake!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished Cottonwood Club tournament this weekend and did about a average...Launched out o Lucerne saturday morning and the bite was slow... Got one on a Jig in a rock pile ater sun was on the water. Started lipping tules and got a ew keepers on 4" aarons magic roboworms...Boater got a ew nicer ones as well. Finished the day split-shotting docks and getting a lot o smaller ish that were about 11.5" Sunday started out with a Normans DD22 and boater got a 5.5+ on that lure...not sure what color. Again had to resort to split-shotting just to get bites...got more dinks and inished the day with 3 keepers. Great tournament all in all...took 13+ to win...
      City: Redding

Tips: Aarons magic is a great color as always and oxblood produced as well. Jigs...crankin and split-shotting were most productive.

      Water Temp: 68-74

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Fished south end or about 2 1/2 hours sat evening. Picked up 14, mostly 1's and 2's with a 3 1/2 on a spinner bait and a 5+ on a jig. Drop shot, slow rolled spinner bait, jig and a red DD14 all worked and I think we got bit at every stop. Caught ish rom 2t - 20t.Sun morn hit the water 0630 with high hopes. Bounced around south end till 1030, hit a dozen or so spots with same baits and had very little to show or it. One 3+ on a jig (same spot as the other jig ish) and a ew rats on drop shot. Frustrated, we headed north and ished some canals. Found ish up to 3lbs shallow on cranks and drop shot. Headed back south around 2 and stared catching ish again. hmmmmm Boated about 12 or the day.
      City: TRACY

Tips: Water clarity is terrible. Usually a great time o year to rip ish shallow but not with only a oot visibility.

      Water Temp: 74-78

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: On the water Friday about 10 pm. Worst night o night ishing I've ever had. No bites, no activity (rom carp, or birds), dead! My riend in another boat caught, I think, a 1 pounder. Saturday morning and late aternoon put a ew in the boat ishing rockpiles with cranks. My buddy landed one ish saturday, but it was estimated at 10 - 11 pounds (rocks/worm). Saturday night wasnt much better, but I did manage a ew with largest at 6 1/4, ish were on rock points. Sunday aternoon I inally decided ish had to be on the rocks during the day (where they are at night I dont know), so I ished oshore rocks rom 2-7 pm and caught quite a ew up to 2 1/2, with three between 3-4. Used a 1/4 oz ootball head jig with twin tail yamamoto trailer. Key was dragging slowly, not hopping, over rocks.
      City: Carmichael

Tips: Night ishing was horrible. Fish were on the oshore rocks during day, but mostly small, had to ish slow. I think something is going on with the water.

      Water Temp: about 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Night ished Friday and Saturday. Friday, stayed in the rattlesnake arm and ished rockpiles exclusively. Started out throwing worms, jigs, and cranks. Ater 2 hours, decided the crank (DD 22) was what they wanted. Lots o bites, but seemed like they were just slapping it, oul hooked a ew, and I lost a ew. Fun night, plenty o action, largest 5.5. Start at 6 pm on Saturday, and put 2 in the boat (3-4 lbs.) on a trixie shad beore the sun goes down (a curious mink also seemed to like that bait!). Much more traic Saturday night, seemed like a boat was camped at every spot I wanted to ish. Also, some people just dont seem to have any manners or consideration, maybe the urge to do well in a tournament is too much temptation to crowd someone on a small spot (Gilroy?). Fished a crank almost exclusively with a handul o ish between 1 and 2 lbs. and a ew between 3 and 4. The bite was deinitely not near as good as Friday. End the night with a 6.25, 5 best at 19 1/2.
      City: Carmichael

Tips: No doubt, the crankbait was it. Friday, best action started at 2am and lasted 45 minutes. Saturday, slow with biggest ish hitting at 3am. Had to weed through a bunch o small ish to ind the ocassional nice one. Rocks and crankbaits.

Report: Kris and I got a late start sunday evening just in time to hear Toby Kieth playing a good concert at Konocti. Even witnessed a good ireworks display aterward. The bite at dusk was very dissappointing as we picked up our irst ish at 10:00 pm, a 2 lber. North o the resort, kris gets a 3 on a 10"worm. Dollar and Shag rock were dead(I cant seem to get the timing right on these spots this year. An oshore rockpile in the rattlesnake arm gave me my irst ever smallmouth in this lake, a 2.5. Kris gets a 4 o o rattlesnake at about midnight. 3 more keepers near redbud by 3am, up to 2.5 lbs.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I am somewhat rustrated at my results night ishing here this year. 3 trips and our best 5 averaging around 13 lbs. Our club tourney here on the august ull moon was won w/18 lbs(Good job Ripper!). On that night, Larry H. had 18 lbs with two clients, so he wasnt sacking them up either. Quality bites are ew and ar between or me. The well known spots are getting hammered repeatedly all night (by me included!). Most o our ish came in out o the way places. I am reluctant to say that the pressure is making the ish wary though. I had hoped that august would be a good month though. Interestingly enough, on this night, only we only caught one short ish. All ish on 10" worms and brushogs. Several hits on jigs, but none in the boat.

      Water Temp: 74

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Much dierent than my earlier trips. 10 degree drop in water temps. Started at 9:30 pm and stopped at 1:00 am. The ishing was much slower than 3 weeks ago. I picked up a 4.3 lber on a 8 inch grub, 3 in the 2-3 lb range on a Norman crank and a couple on 12-13 inchers on a jig beore calling it quits. I saw alot o boats ishing again unlike my earlier trips and it would be interesting to hear how they did. Saturday was alot o small 12-13 inchers on the drop shot and my bigger ish were on a pearch colored ristro rap crank.
      City: sacto

Tips: It seems like the ish have moved up shallower. The bigger ish were on the crank in 9-12 eet o water and more spread out. I did not try top water.

Report: My buddy steve about summed it up. Probably the best trip this year or numbers. On Friday night the bite was wide open rom dusk until 12:30 or so. Picked up 4 over 5lbs during this period. The 8 came around 2:30 ater an hour or so o no bites. Also picked up a bigger than 15 lb catish ( scale only goes to 15), on a jig.The weight was up at night, top 7 around 36 lbs however the numbers were higher during the day. The largest ish during the day on Saturday was around 4 with 5 or 6 threes. Finally the post spawn is over. I wish the delta would get the message.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Biggest ish this trip, the 8 was a jig ish and likewise or the catish. Two o my 5's were jig ish and one o the 5's came on a 10' zipper the other on a 8'grub. Cranks worked well the irst hal o the night, both the little Norman and DD22. Spinner bait picked up a ew at night. Drop shot ish were on o shore humps that topped out at 18-26 eet. Arrons magic robo was the ticket or me but rankly i the ish were there about anything worked. Nothing on a top water other than a ew deensive slaps at the spook.

Report: Spent another great 28 hour marathon on the Big Pond. Started hour beore dusk Friday nite and into morning. Quit at 4:30 a.m. bite had slowed and then at it again ater breakast. They need rest too. Pretty much got schooled by my buddy up ront. No top-water at all. Five or six ish rom 5-6 lbs. and a 8 lb. ish at 3 to 15 eet depending on their in and out rotation. 30 + ish 13 inches or over and 2 dozen will-he-goes. Guess over 60 lbs in a quarter mile "milk'run". Big ish was long and all mouth but slightly thin. Double digit i she'd piged out some and planned a amily.Majority o ish caught on big plastics (8" Yama grub, 10" ribbed/spade tip worm) and jigs wormed slow. I stayed with a new purchase, Skeet's Snap-back Creature! Disappointed. They are not a Brush-hog, only in looks. Damn things entangle around shank behind barb so won't compress on hook-set i you do get bit. Must eel unnatural to ish. Need to do more curls to drive EWG home. That's my excuse besides stubbornness or my spanking. Good drop-shot all day long. No particular bait, size, color but wacky maybe tad better. Aaron's robo no. 2 4" worm very consistent. Best trip this summer. Minimal wind and great stary sky. Dark and peaceul until the conrontation and she's on the deck or the scale and camera dance.
      City: Carmichael

Tips: Work rocky humps and break lines with deep access. Be patient, good ish on ambush sites intermittently.

Report: FISHED ALL three days in super hot temperature.. riday bite was wide open. we caught about 30 ish with several in the 3-4 pound class.. almost everything worked or us except rogs. got igure really hot no rog bite .. maybe later in the day might have been better or rogs we got o the water at 1pm. too hot or us old guys ?? we decided that the north end was too weedy or us so decided to ish south or our two day tourney sat & sunday . proved a good option as my partner won our tourney . saturdays quality was down a little rom riday but quanity stayed the same all weekend. my partner caught most ish drop shotting a small 4 inch worm . and i got most o mine on a 8 inch green pumpkin dead ringer ( thanks larry) my partner got a 6 + sat which won big ish . sat i was drop shoting when i stuck what i thought was a hog. turned out to be a carp o about 30 pounds. actually got it to the net on 8 pound test on a spinning outit.. riday we had a nice top water bite but nothing sat and sunday..everyone in our club got a least 5 ish total and lots o two day limits
      City: SUNNYVALE

Tips: drop shot and big plastics... most ish caught on the ends o docks with 12-15 eet o water . water is just misrably hot close to the bank ... we had one guy catch a 2 lb ish on a brush hog and when they got it close to the net there was about an 8 pounder try to bite the brush hog hanging rom the small ish . they said they stopped reeling and the big ish tried or about 30 seconds and then just gave up... anyway good bite right now and there was no wind.. drink alot o luids and be sae !!! bob

Report: Got on the water about 8:00 pm and ished till 7:30 am. was able to pick up an evenning and dawn topwater bite which was not much to get excited over. Two 2-3 lbers on a jr. spook pm and 1 1.5 -2.0 lber on the jr. in the am. That was it or the top water and I threw that muskie sized jitterbug o and on all night. I lost the biggest bass I have seen to date, much bigger than my 12 out o Berryessa this spring. Big mistake- I thought she was a cat ish and did not get serious until too late. About 9:30 not guite dark enough or the black light so I'm still using Sugi Flourocarbon in 14lb on a june bug brush hog, tic and I turned reeling up slack to get ready or my hook set when the rod was about jerked out o my hand. I set hard and the rod bottomed out. Not many ish bottom out a loomis 844. the ish went deep under the boat a took two long runs on drag. Now I'm thinking, great another catish to slime my carpet. About this time the ish shot straight up and broke water behind the big motor. The rest happened so quick I elt like a total rookie. First she tried to wrap me in the prop and while I'm down on one knee on the ront deck raising the motor she charges to the ront and tries the same tactic on the trolling motor. I plunge the rod down to the reel and try to sweep the line around the trolling motor and she broke water just o the starboard bow. All mouth and long. The trolling motor did the trick, see ya. Oh well, lots o small ish to start with ater dark. No jig bite tonight and upsized my bait to a 10 in zipper worm that limit out ordered or me. Nothing on the 10 power worm. Dinks kept biting the tail o my 8'grub. Two big ish landed or the night, a 6.3 around 2:30 and 8.4 at 5:10 am o the same rock hump, 17 oot o water.Ater daylight picked up 6 ish , one on a jr. spook and 5 on a brush hog, nothing over 2 lbs. Great night, not much wind and cool.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: Bigger ish on my last three night trips have all be at least 15 eet down.Lesson o the trip, never limit yoursel by your initial impression. Don't ask me how in the pitch black o night worm size matters, would not touch the 10 long power worm but destroyed the 10 long zipper. Maybe the ribbs hold more smelly jelly, who knows. Don't hesitate to switch things up. I worked the same three humps o and on all night, with a jig, nata - power worm , nope - and pick up the zipper 2nd cast the 8.4. Nothing on blades, 3 on a Norman crank, clone 2-3lbers.
