Report: Sunday was a little slow, between Leo and I we only picked up 6 ish on jerkbaits. Monday was a bit dierent. I picked up a dozen minnows and used them up on little 2 lbs ish. We started throwing shad colored tube baits and ended up boating 20+ ish each in about 2 hours! Biggest was 2 1/2 to 3 lbs. Most o them caught no more than 10 t deep. A good time!

Also got a 10.2lb cat ish on a dead minnow. Hats o to my Brother Benny who inally broke his 4.14lb record in a big way with the 7.2lb.
City: San JoseTips: Fish slow with tight line and catch and release, all 15 or so ish we landed are still alive in the lake.

Report: Incredible weather or Jan. By 10am on Sun I had already stripped out o my thermals and snow suit and just wore sweat pants and a windbreaker the rest o the day. Unortunately, the ish took a while or us to igure out. Tried all our usual spots, points, deep water structure, rock piles with only 4 2-3lb ish to show or the irst ive hours. Then Bob at Limit Out said the big ish on sat were very shallow, enjoying the warm weather no doubt. So we went to a trusty shallow water spot with lots o sun and boulders and it was on again. Boated about 20 ish, mostly 3's and 4's. Best ive went 27.14 with the two biggest at 6.8 and 6.13. By late aternoon I marked water temps up to 56 aroun the shallow rocks.Sun we headed straight or shallow water. Never went deeper than 10 eet and all the big ones came rom 5 eet or less. Boated another 20 or so (we lost count) in hal a day. Not a single ish under 3 lbs. Best ive went 29.1 and the two biggest were 7.8 and 6.0.

Report: First trip o the new year started o with a 6.5 or me and an 8.0 or my girlriend,,not too bad. We boated 19 on Sat including another 6.0 and several 5's. Best ive went 30.1 lbs. Sun was a bit slower, cold and very oggy till noon (we only ished till 12:30. Boated iteen, 10 in the 2lb range, best ive went 25.3 and included my girlriends 6.0, plus a ew 5's and a chunky 4.
City: TRACYTips: All on jumbo minnows. Most came 15-20 eet down with a ew as deep as 30. Ater being outished two days in a row, I'm starting to think my girlriend should teach me how to ish and I should sit in the back o the boat.

Report: SCBBBC (www.scbbbc.homestead.com) held our TOC over the weekend and did airly well considering the minnow ishing pressure o the top spots on the lake. The top three anglers all had over 25lbs (5 ish limit each day) and came on a varity o lures rom jigs to trout plugs. Big ish or day 1 was 6.82 lbs and day 2 was 6.54. Many other ish in the 4-6 lb range were also caught. We had several anglers have 20 - 40 ish days but most were smaller. Our second place angler only brought 6 ish to the scale but they averaged 4.5 lbs each.
City: San FranciscoTips: Almost everything is working, just have to ind the active ish. Cranks, jigs, swimbaits and jerkbaits accounted or the majority o the ish caught

Report: Found our ish at night on points and rock piles 10-20 eet deep. Tried 10" power worms, 8" ringworms, power pulse worms, big dippers but the plastics just didn't cut it this trip. Bites were ew and ar between and those boated weren't the ones we were ater. Although, I did break o a solid bite on the hook set (was just being lazy and didn't re-tie ater the last snag) so who knows about that one. Slow rolling magnum sized black spinner baits and swimming jigs with large curl tails produced well, our good uns' ranging rom 4.9 to 5.8 and three 2.9-3.2lb ish. Not a single dink on that pattern. Not much success deep cranking (nite or day) save or a 2.1 lb crappie and a ew little bass. Attempted to lip some o the cannals up north sat morning but was only met with more little ones...the lake is pretty low right now and most o the cannals are very shallow. Sun morning beore we hit the road decided to just have un and catch a bunch o the rat-l-trap bass that every one keeps talking about. It worked, shallow weeds and 1/4 once crome/blue traps and both my girlriend and her son were nailing ish ater ish (10" - 13" ish that is). I inally broke down, tied on a 3" pointer and started rippin'. First "just or un" ish or me, a chunky 7.6 that hit right at the boat in 2 1/2 eet o water. Wow! O the water beore 10am with another 2 dozen (at least, maybe more) 10"-13" rip and trap ish. Best ive or the trip went just about 27 1/2lbs, best seven went about 33 1/2lbs.
City: TRACYTips: The reaction bite is on. Only, it's hard to ind the better ish ones with so many little ones out there.

Report: Fish Friday aternoon, all Saturday and all Monday. Friday aternoon ound ish on the outside o docks in Soda Bay. Most ish under 2# but got one at 4.4#. Came on senkos in 297 and 240.Saturday tried buzzbaits in ront o State Park or no bite. Switched to rattle trap in chrome/blue or several ish to 2# and one to 3.5#. Moved to the ront o the keyes and picked up at least 25 ish (most in the 13-14" range but several to 2#) on the trap ished over shallow submerged weeds. Several 3# ish ollowed the smaller hooked ish to the boat but we couldn't get them to bite.Monday ished the north end o the lake starting with a buzzbait in several bays or no bite. Back to the trap and picked up about 10 more ish, most 14" but several in the 2+# range. One ish at 3# on a 5" swimbait.
City: Redding, CaTips: Water cool in morning, warming to above 70 in aternoon. Traps produced quantity o ish although not much in size. No topwater at all. Heard the buzzbait bite picked up right at dark. We were o the water by 6 pm each day so missed that bite.

Report: What a tough act to ollow! Took over where Cooch let o, ished with Jonathan Ashcrat to help round out his vacation experience on Clearlake. Fished the north end, timber, tules, and weed mats. We had a good 4 pound average cranking, lipping, roggin. Frog bite was cool, 6 blow ups in 30 minutes, then they shut down. Spent the heat o the day in sloughs lipping and cranking some very healthy ish. Cooch taught Jonathan well, he was the hot stick with the jig!!!
City: ukiahTips: bang them cranks around in the timber, then lip the same water really slow.

Report: Spent two days on a guide trip with Jonathan Ascrot rom SoCal who was up or a weeks vacation experiencing ClearLake. We spent the entire two days down in the two arms o the south portion o the lake. We caught 40-60 ish each day. Unortunately 2/3 o them were under 12". We ished a wide variety o baits rom worms, buzzbaits, Spooks, cranks, rogs and jigs. All but maybe 6 o the ish came on a brown or black jig with a single tail grub trailer. We did catch 4 nice ish on buzzbaits and the biggest o the trip was a 7+ that came out o a grass clump to gobble a black Bobby D's buzzer. The better ish, seven o them between 4-5 pounds, we caught on jigs. Most o these came out o 18-35 oot ishing breaks, humps, piles and ledges out in the middle o nowhere!
City: OakleyTips: The deep jig bit has yet to turn on during the day or the giant ish, but they are very suceptable to night time ishing. Also, tossing a black buzzbait around the wide leaed grass up there will catch good ish all day long. Need to ind clumps o this stu that doesn't have the green mossy stu on it. Find areas like this and there are some good ish using that stu right now.

Report: Had some great nights ishing Henderson and Horseshoe at night. Threw a jig with bubba Super Pork the whole time and nothing else. It was so nice to stick to just one bait. Tired o dragging tackle and rods around. My best night was 5 ish or about 29lbs(8.1,7.8,6.2,4.8,3.2). I won't orget that night or awhile. All caught on jigs and bubba pork. Color did not matter. Just kept going back and orth up and down the bank. You could make a couple o trips without getting a bite, then all o a sudden all hell breaks loose. Those three big ish came within 35 minutes. The irst(8.1) came at 10pm and then the other two beore 10:35pm. All shallow in the rocks. Tried like hell every night to get that double digit ish, but could not pull it o. Still had a good time though. Every night out there was like heaven catching ish on jigs.
City: PetalumaTips: Listen to the experts and ish the rocks with a jig or a big worm. Keep it simple and believe you're gonna catch ish with these baits. I you have not tried Fireline(lame green 30lb test), you're missing out on something. Awesome line or night ishing and great hooksets. Mr. Hemphill is right about that line. Keep the jig moving slowly o the rocks and hang on. Don't give up. There will be slow periods and you have to ight through it. Don't go changing baits because they are not biting. It's a timing thing and they will eventually move up in waves throughout the night. I threw 1/2oz jigs and big pork the whole time and never changed. They call it living and dying with your one bait. I lived. Thanks Scott Green or all your help and also thanks to Mr. Hemphill and Cooch or their willingness to share inormation in helping people like me become a better isherman. D.B.COOPER

Report: Fished Gold Country Bassers night tournament Saturday night with Doug. We started in some trees in the south end and lipped 3 or 8 lbs or so just beore dark. Ran into Konocti or dusk bite. Find 3 boats where I want to go, so we hit another area or two others, 1.5 and 2.5 by 9:15. A boat approaches and passes me rom I thought he said the red blu club. I get a 3.4 that they missed then a 4.1.......things are good. Interestingly enough, I caught 4 ish the irst hour ater dark, unusual. I then stick a 5+ and am eeling good. I inally got Doug to give a brushog a try. He gets an 8.36 and I get a 3.5.......things are better. One more 3.5 by the resort with a hundred onlookers. Dollar Island and shag rock were dead today. Very hit or miss places. 12:30 am back down to konocti where I stick a bigun behind a post and it saws through my line.....rats. Doug breaks a good one o also. We get another 2.5 and a 3.4 beore we have to get back to weigh in. Pat D. caught his personal best, a 9.24 lb toad. Good job Pat. All teams weighed ish. We ended up w/ 25.28 lbs or top honors that night. I igure we ended up w/ 15 keepers, all except one caught on brushogs.
City: Yuba CityTips: Plastics seemed to be the best. Some weighted, some not. Several guys got topwater and crankbait ish.

Report: Got on the water about 6:30 pm on the 23rd and went to the lakeport area . The trip started o with a boom, being short struck on a spook with what looked like a nice ish. Two cast later my largest spook ish, 7.3lbs. We ended up picking up 4-5 more ish to 4.5 lbs beore dark, everything ater the spook was on a zipper worm . There was a lull until 10 pm or so and the bite opened up until 3:00am. The backseat was out ishing me 2-3 ish or my one on a junebug deadringer but all smaller 2-3 lb ish. I was ishing a black/blue rattleback 3/8 oz jig with a #180 double tail grub. Ater his ,third or so ish I was about to switch to a worm when " thunk " , a nice beautiul 9.8lber, very next cast another one about the same size which broke me o at the boat- Too damn lazy to retie. I was using 20 lb p line which is slightly more limp than the stren.Oh, well that's ishing. Steve, my back seat picked up one around 7 , his best clear lake ish an hour later. We ended up with 15 ish between 2-9.8 lbs, What a night!
City: Sacto.Tips: Jigs or the bigger ish, day in day out. The 9.8 came out o 18 eet o water, the spook ish 2-3 eet o water. There were deinately two seperate patterns , one close to the tulle wall and another deep rock piles . Nothing on a crank, or spinnerbait. It was a jig and worm night.

Report: Fished the night o the 26th starting at 11:30 until irst light at about 5:30am. Third night ater a ull moon as well as the 2nd or 3rd night beore has been good or me.The bite never broke wide open with a ish or two or the irst hour or so. At about 2:30 until 4:30 I picked up my two largest ish or the night, a 8.2 and 7.6 one on a black ledgebuster spinnerbait and one on a norman crank. Not a single bump ater 4:30am. Found a cove and slept rom 5:30 until 10:00am.Total o 8 ish, the largest 8.2 the smallest a solid 3.5, no dinks which is interesting. Rarely do I catch the smaller ish at night, probably to do with bait size.
City: SacramentoTips: A little bit o everything tonight, 2 on a ledgebuster spinnerbait, black 1/2 oz with a single colorado blade, 3 on a crank ( dark blue norman), one on a jig/double tail grub, and 2 on a yam. 8" black/blue lake single tail grub ( lorida rig 1/4 oz). The 8.2 came out o 3 eet o water over chunk rock ater a long cast, talk about un. She sounded like someone throwing boulders in the water when she hit the surace. The other ish were deeper down to 26 eet or the jig ish, although the jig never made it to the bottom beore the pick up.Warm night , no wind and plenty o light with the moon, it does not get much better than that. A little breeze would have helped with the bats. Hint, do not wear a white hat around the black light with no wind. The bats will think you are a landing platorm.

Majority o anglers noted rare bites ater the sun went down. I ished with Rick Tietz who is a Rep. or several bait companies including Duh and Basstrix. We caught our ish dropshotting prototype Basstrix baits and Predator worms o rocks that dropped rom 9-20t. Rick was an absolute joy to ish with. Very knowledgable and helpul.
City: reddingTips: A ew anglers including Rick mentioned the bite really turned on ater 430am with ish up to 8+ lbs. Unortunately we never got to ish that time rame. Good luck!
