Report: American Bass Anglers Club Launched 6 boats rom the Public ramp in Lucern, ya coulnt ask or better weather, irst spot or me was just south o Konocti on Sat. the water clarity there wasnt to deep but we managed to boat our irst ish on a brown lizard with a chartreuse tail.Threw some crankbaits, rip baits but no reaction bites, ran north to the pit stop in lakeport and ound a couple o bed ish, took about 10 minutes to boat the male on a chartreuse luke with added weight, the emale ollowed him right to the net, ran to nice and ound more bedding ish not quite committed to the bed but ater running this luke down ones nose he sucked it in and was boated. I remember reading Larrys post and ound bed ish in 8 eet o water, saw a dark patch o grass with a lighter color in the middle and it was a male locked on the nest, second cast he ate it and was boated, ound more bed ish but they werent interested, ended up with 4 ish or 13.40 lbs, irst place angler had 5 ish or 15 + lbs caught on senkos, big ish was 4.5 lbs.Second day- Sunday, went to lakeport area again ish were cruising and didnt ind any ish committed to the nest. I spotted a big ish had to be a 13+ suspended against a red brick wall I worked this ish or 3.5 hours and got her to open her mouth once but she didnt take all the luke in and I just skin hooked her but she shook it and was gone,:-( couldnt get any other ish to go, worked more beds but the ish just picked up the tail o the bait, emales were suspended not to ar away. Winning weight was 26+ lbs.

Tips: A good pair o polarized glasses really made a dierence,I used solar bats and viewed deeper ish, i they wont take a paticular bait try changing colors. With some ish it was a waiting game o how long the bait stayed on the nest. We stayed at the Lake Place resort and the hospitality was outstanding, Thanks RaulI learned allot about spawning bass this weekend.Good luckPete

Report: Wow, what a weekend, Thought I was gonna go up and rape all the sight ish prior to the Bassmaster's arrival this week. Almost all the beds I ound in the North and South were empty. No keepers landed all weekend. I did see a ew large ish suspended over 10' plus, and the ends o docks in the South. I've seen it tough there, but not that bad......wish I had some minnows......I think I'd have camped at Frasier Point.....

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished GCB tournament on Saturday. Started in south end throwing reaction stu, but no takers. Started throwing #208 senkos in Jago bay and picked up a 5.0 around 8am. Next bite at 9:30 was a 4.0. Got a 13"er about 10am. No bites till 11:30 when I threw to a dock in 20' hoping or a suspended emale. My senko kept alling orever and never hit bottom. I checked and elt pressure and saw my line moving at me. I set and it didnt budge toward me. It took o or deep water and I igured I had a big catish. I looked down and saw a black tail, a big black tail!Yes, a good one. It came up and rolled and head shook several times and took o when Larry tried to get the net near it. Finally, my biggest bass to date, 11.45 lbs was in the well. What a magical experience. No more bites till 1:30 when Larry sets on a 1.93. Finished in heavy cover in south end or no bites. Lots o guys blanked today. Weighed in 4 or 21.4 lbs.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I ished all weekend in the southern end o the lake and watched or signs o the Bass moving in to shallow water. On Friday I saw no signs o ish but by Sun there were many big bass moving in. On riday morning I ished or 2 hours in shallows without any luck. I then moved to the rocks in South Koonciti Bay and caught a 5 and a 7 on a brown jig with Mad Man Craw in about 16' o water. The water is extremely clear and the bass that moved shallow later in the weekend were very spooky. I saw several ish caught with minnows but did not have any luck with a tube, senko, jerkbait, or jig in shallow water. I saw no ish on beds yet.

      Water Temp: 47-49

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: We started o with a 7.0, 6.5, 4.1, 3.6 and two others about 3lbs each within the ist hour. Then nothing, nada, zilch. Seven more hours and not even a bite. We hit more than a dozen reliable spots with live minnows on the South end with nothing to show or it. We even ran north or a bit. Slow rolling spinner baits has always worked during eb around State park, long tule point and Lakeport. But the water was just too clear. Easily our oot visibility up north and more than eight oot down south. Tried rip bait and senko's up north but still nothing. We've had some pretty good days over the last ew months but not this time. Oh well, can't complain too much with three bigguns' in the boat..
      City: TRACY

Tips: The cold ront must have shut em down. Last week was very warm and the bass bite was on ire. Plus there were a lot o other boats on the water. Must have been practicing or the next tourney.

      Water Temp: 44-46

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Another good minnow trip. 24 total (plus a 9lb catish). Five largest went 31.12lbs (7.2, 6.9, 6.3, 6.1, and 5.13) Once again we had to move around quite a bit, only picking up a ew at each stop. The bite seems so much dierent than last year-- we're having to wait to set or else and they just haven't schooled up. Oh well, we're still having a blast.

      Water Temp: 48.1 - 52.0

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished sat with the girlriend rom 8 am to about 4:30 using live jumbo minnows. The water down south was stained rom all the rains (only about 2 oot visibility) but cleared a little (to about 4 oot) by the end o the day. Fishing started very slow with only our ish in the boat in the irst ew hours (that's very slow or minnows). We ound that each spot only produced 2 or 3 bites at most. We moved around a lot and covered lot's o spots in the rattlesnake arm. We ocused on 8-12 oot depths and the areas with clearer water produced best. Overall, we had 18 in the boat mostly between 3 and 4 1/2. The two biggest went 5.11 and 8.3. The bite was deinately best in the aternoon. I talked to severall other boats on the water (ishing worms, jigs and cranks) and they were all doing somewhere between zilch and very poor. Although, I did see one guy ishing cranks irst thing in the morning at our irst stop. He weighed and tossed back our (they looked about 2 or 3 lbs a piece) just beore pulling out o a shallow bay. He must be on to something cause I couldn't even get a bite on minnows in the same spot.
      City: TRACY

Tips: I have a eeling that once the temperature stabilizes and the water clears up a bit, the winter bite will be in ull swing. Good luck...

      Water Temp: 59ish

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Kris and I braved an uncertain weather orcast knowing what happened aterward on Saturday. Put in at redbud at 3pm w/no bites on anything jigs, worms, DD22, buzzbaits,by dark. I still had conidence that we might get a ew bites ater dark. Very overcast which illuminated the whole lake and made darktime navigation easier. First bite was a 10.0 lb catish on a jig/brushog combo @ 7:30pm on steep rocks south o Konocti. At 8:30, Kris sticks a beauty o 4.5 lbs on same jig w/pork. Narrows area and shag rock were dead or no bites by 10pm. Mist started alling and I didnt want to be hal a lake away rom the trailer i it tore loose on us. Fished Back o Jago bay or 1 lost small ish and another 3.5 that plopped back into the water when I tried to lit it into the boat. 11pm near redbud Kris sticks a 3.5 in shallow water so we are reinthused. A ew moments later, I get a 6.0 and then break o a very shallow ish that raced sideways w/my jig till I broke it o on the set and it jumped all around the boat or 5 minutes. Starting to rain around 12:30am at the pipeline and We call it a night.
      City: Yuba City

Tips: I saw gajillions o bait school on sonar and equally as many on the surace. I snagged one and It was a shad......had a black spot behind gillplate and had shad shape, not pondsmelt shape. No other boats on water. Never saw a boat rom 5-12pm.

      Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went up or a weekend o un ishing with the girlriend and her boy. Ater reading Larry's report I was ired up or the night bite. I igured I'd hunt around during the day with jigs, cranks and a jerk bait while my girl drited minnows just or kicks. Boy was it tough! Ater 4 hours I only had one quick bite on a Castaic swimbait and nothing on anything else. The little guy had only managed two 4's on the minnows (very unusual or minnow ishing). Knowing the TOC was still going on I decided to swallow my pride and ocus on just live minnows. By the end o the day we had only boated six ish. One at 6.8, one dink, and the rest between 2 & 4. Went back out just ater dark with big jigs. I hit a dozen reliable spots. I ished 8-20 eet, every way I knew how and never got a single bite. Called it quits ater a ew hours. There was a cold ront that moved through Sat so that could explain a lot. Sun I had no real intention o ihing but we still had 2 dozen minnows let. Figured I try an hour or so around Rattlesnake and the bay in ront o the Keys then head home early. Glad I did! I got a 7.1 & a 4, my girl got a 6.13 (her personal best) and three 4's and the little guy got a 3.14. What a dierence a day makes...
      City: TRACY

Tips: The ish were there but they were tough to catch. all o ours came rom 8-14 eet o water.

      Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Well, just got back rom the Anglers Choice toc and boy was the ishing tough. My partner and I preished two days and had a hard time locating the ish. Usually it's pretty easy or us to ind 3-4lbers this time o year. We ished the North end both days and really struggled. The irst day we caught 5 ish or 24lbs with an 8lb kicker. We didn't get our limit until about 1:30 the irst day. The big ish came on a jig and the rest on crankbaits. We lost 2 ish but only one o them would have helped and only by about 1lb. The second day we really struggled. We caught all our ish cranking and had 6 bites, putting all o them in the boat. We had 15lbs the second day with a 2 day total o 39lbs. It was good enough or third place. As happy as I am with third it was a bummer not to win a boat. Congratulations to irst and second.
      City: Petaluma

Tips: This time o year the bite should be great on jigs and crankbaits but it's not. The water temp. needs to come down a ew degrees or the ish to really go on the eed bag. The lower temp will also help kill the remaining weeds that are holding the ish which is making them tougher to catch. The next week or so should be great ishing on the lake. Good luck.

Bite was airly tough, as 1/3 o ield didn't bring a ish to the scales. Lots o nice ish, though, including toads o 8.06, 7.31, 5.63, 5.49, & two @ 5.45 lbs made it to weigh-in. Bass went or a variety o lures, including buzzbaits, Senkos, crankbaits, Rattletraps, rogs, blades, etc.

Report: Started thurs evening w/a 3 lb rog ish just north o Konocti and my girlriend missed a nice one on a buzzbait. Then nothing till about 11pm. Finally, got a 5.5 on a power pulse worm and a 3 on a spinnerbait rom some rock and my girlriend got a 3 on a Rat-L-Trap. O the water by 1am with only 4 in the boat. Went out Fri w/ Larry Hemphill and ound out I should have ished another hour or so the night beore as they got some beauties ater 1. The bite was tough as we had a small cold ront move through. Again, my girlriend missed a nice buzzbait ish and had another quality ish on a 8" ring worm get away. She's new to the game but learning every trip out. We boated our ish that night (large plastics and jigs) to about 4 1/2 and missed a air number o short strikes. Even though the ishing was tough Larry still did an excellent job o showing me some new spots and teaching me more about the lake...thanx Larry. Sat was a little better weather. I got a 3 lb on a 10" power worm rom one o the new spots Larry showed me and then my girlriend broke o a nice buzzbait ish that hit right at the boat. She missed another buzzbait bite at the pipeline and I got our 3-4 pound spinnebait ish (plus a 4 lb catish)in about 15 minutes just as the sun went down. Ater a ew more stops I went back to Konocti and got what I came or, a beautiull 7.5 lbr on an 8" ringworm. Managed another 4 ish to about 3 pounds as we hit a ew stops on our way back. O the water by 10pm. Overall a good experience, not a lot o ish but some quality and a lot o knowlege.

      Water Temp: 64-68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished the WON BASS northern tri-state this week. My partner and I located some 3-4lb rog ish during preish and knew some deep water jig ish that we let alone since we knew we would ish them during the tournament. First day we were 32nd boat out. We got to our irst couple spots and I cranked and he threw a jig. At 10am we had one 7+lber (cranking) and two 2lb jig ish. went to our rog water and caught two 3+lbers. Had about 18-19lbs at 11am so we went looking or some new water but ound the big zero. Went back to our deep water and in 10 minutes my partner caught a 8+ and a 3+. Bye bye 2lbers. Our ive ish went 26lbs. The next day we started doing the same thing but only got 1 2lb jig ish by 10am. Went to our rog water and both lose a 4+lb rog ish the irst hal hour. We keep at it and have two more rog bites and stick them both(3+lbers). Hit our deep water and it just doesn't happen. Get one bite and it's a 3+. Time to weigh in with only our ish or 15lbs. We ended up in 5th place. I we had caught one o the rog ish we lost we would have ended up in 2nd but that's roggin. Thanks to WON BASS or a great tournament.
      City: Petaluma

Tips: Things are really tough right now as less than 30 o the 106 teams weighed in limits the irst day. We only got 7-10 bites a day. As the weeds die the ish should move to the docks and rocks. Bring your senko's, blades, crankbaits, and jigs. Fall is almost here. See ya on the water.
