Report: Took the family out for a few hours late afternoon. After around 4pm we found fish slamming bait in the North Fork outside the 5mph buoys. We ended up with a mix of 14 spots and smallmouth up to about 2 lbs, with several others lost at the boat. All but one were caught on Scroungers with silvery bait fish-like trailers (e.g. Tiny Fluke). A fun afternoon!
      City: Foresthill

Tips: Couldn't get 'em to go on topwater, but the Scroungers were working. We found the most fish when the boat was in around 20 feet of water. Watch for the boils!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Luanched the Custom Valco "BASSBUSTER1" out of Ladd's about 10:00 a.m. and was out by 5:00 p.m. Started fishing at the Turning Basin and fished my way out into 14 Mile Slough today. A total of 15 largemouth bass and 23 stripers. I used the Delta Schooling Rig (aka Alabama), chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap, white/sparkle tubes, and white Senkos. Late in the afternoon there was an awesome white senko bite along the rock walls in 14 Mile Slough. The best fun I had (junk fishing) was with my Delta Schooling Rig. Found a school of stripers feeding on the flat near Dad's Points. The LM Bass were cuaght along rocky points to coves and river mouths.

Tips: Rig up to fish mutiples species. I was hoping to run into some salmon and that would have made the day. :-)

Not too many people were out, and ski boats are finally starting to dwindle.
After the striped top water fun, caught a few on a rattle trap.

Tips: If you've been waiting for the bait fish to show up, they're here :-)

      Water Temp: 73 afternoon

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: A 5 incher on a 3/4 oz. Rattletrap and a 1# on a big worm were my only prizes today. Both were taken just outside defined weedbed walls in the afternoon. Blanked yesterday so today was an upgrade for me. No wind until 11am each day and then an unpleasant and difficult howling. Tried many techniques and locations. Nothing in south end and didn't try north end.

Tips: Yeah, tell me them if you caught them. Heard the lake is tough lately from the dock guys so I wasn't alone.

      Water Temp: 74 to 78

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: After a slow start fishing was great this past weekend. Saturday morning Albert and I headed out to the Narrows. Using crankbait we trolled towards the Ranch house. The water was as clear as glass and we could see lots of small fish but had no luck catching anything. My son called me and said lunch was ready so we met up with him at Big Island. After lunch Albert and I went deep into one of the coves and set up catfish rods using hotdogs. We fished for bass using flukes, spinner baits, cast masters and whatever else we could think of throwing without any luck. We saw hundreds of bass in the 2 to 4 inch range chasing after the lures but no big guys. I got a call from my son telling me he was seeing large bait balls in about thirty feet of water and in the last ten minutes he hooked up three nice bass. He told me where he was and I said I'm on my way. When I got to the area the bait balls were so huge that I decided to go through them for awhile. Within a half hour or so of going back and forth using deep diving lures we limited out with nice size bass and a trout. On my son's boat he had the same results with his wife Sarah landing a limit of good size bass up to four pounds and my wife Ester landing two big trout up to three pounds. Some people were saying that due to the full moon the fishing was not great but if you look for signs like the bait balls or where the birds are feeding it can change your luck. It turned out to be a very successful day (see photos). 'til next week...........................................good fishing!!!

Report: Splashed the tube with bro and friend from 11-5. Slow day overall but I did get a 4.5 lb. spot and a 3 lb. spot. Lost a big catfish and one bass not sure of the species. The bass and catfish all came on a crankbait in the preserve. Low water left all of the good cover high and dry. 67% is not enough for this place. Water is dirtier the further back you go in the preserve. Didn't get much on the deeper banks across from the south ramp.
      City: Concord

Tips: Bomber crankbait 4A Dark green crawdad. Senko got one bass for my friend.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Splashed the tube in seven mile next to owl harbor. Slow afternoon until the last hour of daylight and started catching fish on a topwater frog fly. A 3 lb. first and then a 5.5 on the flyrod. A few other keepers on the fly and a sammy. Flat calm conditions helped the bug get noticed right away. I'm just starting out with the flyrod, it is a blast.
      City: Concord

Tips: Fish the evening hours with any topwater. Try the flyrod, I alternate between it and my conventional gear.
