Report: trying to catch a big bass on a swimbait but been having no luck. not too familar with swimbaits. however, if you like crappie, this place is loaded with them along the shore. i caught a ton of crappie on little mini jigs along the weeds.

Report: Bass- I think your asking BassFan the question, but I will throw in my 2 cents. I use a 8 ft heavy duty rod with a strong tip and a 6.5 gear ratio real with 8 bearings. Your right, it will wear on you and your arm cranking all day if your not setup correctly. My setup works great for me and I throw 7-9 inch swim baits that run 5-6 feet and have had good success on several local lakes.
      Hope this helps!

Report: What kind of rod do you use when you throw swimbaits? I was using a 6 inch swimbait with a pretty thick baitcast rod with 60 pound braid and it seemed like my rod wasn't gonna hold up. THose swimbaits are heavy.

Report: I got my boat in the water on riday to test out downriggers mounted to a bord attached to my ski boat.Warning!!The lake is just too shallow or downrigers. We trolled the lake between the dam and and the ski zone. the ish inder said the ish were at 40 t.using pink ladys and shallow minnow lures we ound we cought 5 trout in two days. The ish are there. but it seems they hit on small lures that look like little ish. anyway it was a nice overnighter and got to play with the boat camp and ish and thats what counts.
      City: Santa Clara

Tips: Troll on top with lures that dive to about 5 to 10 t. minnow and trout look-a-likes work well.
