Report: Fished 4-10 rom 2:00 pm to 7:30. My partner and I boated 45 ish.I began by throwing senkos in the trees and my partner had never pitched or lipped beore.Needless to say he was not having un throwing in the trees and over them. So I rigged up grubs on darter heads and ished 5 to 10 eet o water and we banged em good. Just about every bank we ished produced. All the senko ish in the trees are running 2.5 to 3.5 consistantly. The darter head ish on banks are running 1 to 2 lbs. Went back 4-11 and caught 28 total doing the same stu.

Report: Preished Friday then had the BFL tournament on Saturday. It was my irst time on the lake. Friday I had one 2.5 reaction ish(stacy/ghost) and stuck another 10 or so dropshoting 4 inch robo worms(baby bass). I would have shook them o but the pro I was with said to go ahead a set the hook. Most o ish were 1.5 to 2.25lbs(all spotted bass) but I got one 4lb largie. We also saw several ish cruising and wanting to bed. During the tournament I had one rip ish then our other bites dropshoting. Ended up with ive ish or 9.8lbs. I ished the south ork both days. The winning pro said he ripped all his ish in the main body. The winning nonboater had 15lbs with a 5lb kicker and said he splitshoted a 6" worm all day in the north ork.

Tips: The spawn is ready to bust open on this lake and most other lakes. I the weather gets nice most lakes, including this one, will have a lot o ish spawning the next ull moon. On saturday most o my ish came in about 30t but I think they were there because o the ront that came through. I would look very shallow unless a big storm hits. Good luck.

Report: Just watched the weigh in or BFL.lots o small ish,hal limited and the other hal did not.I believe that iteen lbs was the largest limit and he was a non boater.O the boaters I think thirteen lbs took irst place. A lot o respectable isherman {pros} had ten lb bags.I was expecting some large ish but it did not materialize. Good news is they will be moving up very soon. I did not hang around or the award ceremonies so could not elaborate on what was used. It made me eel good to see I'm not the only guy strugling to catch numbers o quality ish lately. Also there were 84 boats and seemed to be a very well run tournament.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Preished Friday starting at dawn. Ripped a 2.5 along the peninsula that came o at the net. Missed several more than caught a keeper on the luckycrat. Up at the narrows, dartheaded two nice keepers on 6" bluegost worms. We struggled on the north side o the narrows and ound the water above rattlesnake to be 2-3 degrees colder and had no bites. A rockpile below rattlesnake gave me a 19.5" spot that only weighed 3.7 lbs on a senko, dragging it in 16' o water. Fished the rock garden in the aternoon and had many bites on the darthead that I didnt hook, presumably small ish. Did spinnerbait a 1.5 at 3 pm in 52 degree water. We ended up w/ 11 ish on the day w/the best 5 at 9.6 lbs.Saturday the peninsula sucked......mental note: move to dierent areas when reaction ish are not going in your area.Did darthead a 13" spot in the narrows and missed several others. Damian caught his irst smallmouth ever that went 1.5 lbs or our second ish at 11am. Dead till we were in the rock gardens still not getting bit when I remembered a lat island about 100 yds o the bank. We drug 4" worms in 6 t o water along the side o the island or 6 keepers in the last 1.5 hrs. We ended up last in the tourn w/7.07 lbs, but regained some conidence that i you keep at it, you can stumble onto something.

Report: Went out my buddy Tim Merritt on Fri and Sat. I decided to take a day o on Friday to pre-ish or a club tourney on Sat. I hadn't been on Folsom since last May and really had no idea where to start. We started in the peninsula area with cranks and rips and didn't pick up anything in the irst hour. We then ran up around the Folsom Point area and continued throwing reaction baits in hopes o picking up a quality ish. Nothing. Around 10am we started tossing jigs and darters and got on a decent bite. We picked up a nice limit over the day anchored by a 3 1/2 pound smallie on a brown bitsy bug. On Sat. we ran right back up to the Folsom point area and tried reaction at irst light. Ater nothing or a 1/2 hour we went to the jig and darter. Once again we were on ish right away butmissed our irst three hits. Frustrating becuase hits are usually hard to come by in 48-49 degree water. Luckily the ish gave us a ew more chances and by 11am we had 3 nice darter head ish in the boat. We then headed or the north ork in the s..thouse cove area and didn't have any luck until 1:30 when Tim hits a ish that starts screaming line. I could tell he had a big spot on and as soon as I reached or the net the ish popped o. Arrrrgh! We were not eeling very conident at the point. The wind was blowing and we were running out o time. About 2:30 we ound a protected cove and I guaranteed Tim that we would put some ish in the boat. I hit one right away, but that was the only one. With a 1/2 hour to go and the winds calm we went back to the area where Tim lost his ish and hit our 2 biggest ish o the day on darter heads. O the 8 boats in the tourney, only 2 had limits. Our 6 ish came on witches T darters in 10 eet o water, but we should o had at least 10 ish in the boat. A ew other guys in the club mentioned they were on a pretty good slow roll blade bite. We inished 1st with 5 ish or 8.8 pounds.
      City: roseville

Tips: Slow in 10 eet o water. I am glad I don't have to ish Folsom or a while. Ater spending so much time on the delta, that inesse stu really tries your patience. I have to admit though, it did eel good to hit ish on 6 pound test again.

Report: got on the water at about 12:30. Decided to play hookey or a ew hours. Headed up the north ork and proceeded to catch a 2 lb smallmouth in 30t o water. then went urther north only to ind the water cooling o, so turned around and headed to the main body. I couldn't believe it but there were alot o boats out and one seemed to be on every point. My bait o choice ishing down to 35t was a jig. managed another 2.75 lb spot and went dropshotting. Then caught 3 ish on a 4" worm dropshotting. 1.5-2.25lbs. Figured I should get home or dinner and wanting to get out o the light drizzle, I booked at 4:15. One thing o note, I you ish over 30 eet deep, do yoursel and the ish a avor, bring a seringe(sp?)and know how to pop your ish. I ended up bringing home a ish because I couldn't get him to swim away(bloated). Sure was good though. Never et a smally beore.

Report: I ished on Tuesday and Wednesday, its the irst time out here in a month. I was glad to see the water up or a change. Tuesday ished or about 4 hours in the aternoon. We ished jigs and got a ew short strikes. I tried some leeches and spinnerbaits and got nothing. I decided to try a crankbait that has been real successull or me. We rolled up to a point in the South where I lost good ish this summer. In 15 minutes I hooked 3 ish and the biggest was a 3.5 spot. Ater that nothing again. Wednesday I ished all day. We caught a ew ish here and there on jigs. All o them nice and at. Once the sun came out I decided to throw the crankbait again, and landed a 3lb smallie, ater that nothing again. Nothing great on numbers, but size was good on all but a ew.

Tips: The jigs were black and blue with a purple yamamoto trailer. The crankbait was a crawdad color. This crankbait has also killed them at oroville the last two times I have been there. Good Luck and watch or the loating debris.

Report: Went out rom irst light til 10:oo a.m. Wind was blowing about 10 to 15 mph. and looked like it would be a great reaction bite. Threw blades or one hour without any action at all.then went to a protected cove and threw a buzzbait or about thirty minutes, nothing.Went to a steep drop o showing lots o bait and ish on the meter and drop-shot or thirty minutes with zero success. Finally I tied on the smallest grub made on a 1/16 darter head and caught our ish all short.Last month on this lake has been tough.

      Water Temp: Mid 70's?

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Here is the real swimbait story. On a Sun. night 5 wks. ago (I always ish on mon.) I was loading my extraordinarily crappy boat or my weekly ishing trip to Folsom. For some reason the heavy action trigger stick with the reel Randy said looked as it belonged on the river (A Calcutta 250 that Markey-Ray could use or catish) with a optimum swimbait on it was calling my name. I loaded my boat and went in the crib to go to bed. At the last minute I went out and threw the swimbait rod in the truck. I launched at Browns at 5:40 (the old guy is early at the shack). The irst place I drove to is a well known oshore rock pile. On the 5th cast with the swimbait I snagged it. I eased up to it with the trolling motor and popped it ree. Immediately upon doing this I elt HEAVY mushy pressure. I set the hook and ater a heavy skirmish lipped a large bass. This ish went 24".I pounded that spot a while and hooked and lost another heavy ish. Ater casting more to no avail I cruised to my normal south ork haunts. I tossed the swimbait and my usual selection o small plastics or naught.I igured I would go back to the rockpile and toss the trout some more. O course when I got there a boat was sitting on it. I proceeded to a point about 300 yds. away where I had caught a 3lb. largemouth the week prior slow rolling a spinner bait.I like to cast across points parallel to shore. The wind blew me across the point and I casted with it but no ish. I drited past the point and picked up my swimbait rod and gave the trout a mighty heave.Nothing. I chucked it again and briely hung it on the bottom. Upon popping it loose I elt that wonderul mushy pressure again. Much to my consternation this ish was only 23&1/4". I elt the need to weigh it so I ran to the other boat sitting on my earlier spot (stopping every50 yds. or so to give it a dunk) and according to the scale they had it weighed in at 7lb.6oz. The irst one must have weighed 8 easy. I ished or a short time longer but was satisied with the days results and called it a day at about 11:30.
      City: Gold River

Tips: Both ish were caught in about 16' o water. The 1st. at 6:00a.m. the second at 10:30 a.m. This true story was classiied ino (only Randy was told) until now. Good Luck!

Report: My partner, Bill and me had a riendly tournament against RXMan and his bud out at Folsom on Saturday. Launched at Dike 8. We both headed towards the pennisula, but I noticed that there were already a string o boats ishing the hazardous buoys, so we headed up towards the North Fork. RXMan team joined the other suckers ishing the buoys. Needless to say, although ishing was slow, we kicked their butts, but not by much. We landed our keepers (all spots), ortunately one was a kicker 3# spot. They also managed our keepers, all smallies. Both team caught all their ish on magic worms. Considering the heat, plus all the boaters and jet skiers on the lake Saturday, we were lucky to catch any ish.

Report: This is in response to the last 2 reports. First o all, I would like to say that I have been guilty in the past o ripping on jet skiers or wakeboarders. Just a ew weeks I came o the water wanting to drown every boarder and skier I saw, when it took me over an hour to trailer the boat. However, lately I have been doing some thinking and trying to be a little more patient on the water and keep a more positive attitude toward pleasure crats. First o all, we all pay tax dollars and everyone has the same rights to public waters. I think that Marks rustration in his report is the disrepect that many o the jet skiers and water skiers show to the isherman and ellow boaters and skiers in general. This problem is nothing new and will continue. The one thing that helps me get threw the warmwater ishing season is that I can get up at the crack o dawn and enjoy some damn peaceul ishing until about 11am. Then, when the lake starts to get a little bit crazy it is time to pack it up and go home. The only good staying on the water any longer will do is to put me in a worse mood toward the skiers. I have actually come to like ishing the colder months and have become pretty proicient at it because I appreciate the peaceul time on the water more. The only time now that I let the skiers beat me up is when I am in a tournament and have no choice but to be out in the chaotic part o the day. What helps me, is to wake up that morning and to just accept that it will be busy on the water. I've even ound that the boats stirring up the water can turn on a good reaction bite. Also, the bikini's aren't to bad look at either. Remember, the guys on the ski's and personal watercrat cherish their ree time as much as the isherman, so try to show patience. Let's try and make an eort rom here on out to stick to ishing reports, because that what this web page is all about. Good ishing!

      Water Temp: 70

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out on Fri. ater work and got on the water about 6pm. Managed around 15 bass to 3#'s and one big gill. We caught most o our ish ripping. The wind was howling and the water was pretty stained up rom the boat traic and the wind. I swear there were more people on the lake Fri. than on the weekend. It was packed out there. Anyways, we decided to make the wind our riend and igured that there would deinitely have to be a good reaction bite on points. About 20 minutes beore dark we really ripped and cranked some beautiul smallies to 3 #'s. Not a bad trip or two hours o ishing. On Sunday, my buddy John Kort and I went to Folsom at irst light or a beautiul morning o ishing. Had a decent top water bite irst thing and worked our way down the water column as the sun got on the water. Went to ripping next, then senkos in the trees and inally darterheads on the rocks. We pulled up on a point that was loaded with spawning spots and they were all over our darters and mojo's. We ended up hitting around 25 to 2 1/2 pounds. Fished untill 11 am and got o the lake beore most o the nuts got there.
      City: roseville

Tips: do believe that the ish are starting to pull out o the trees a bit, but there are still plenty o ish in the pre-spawn mode. On Fri, saw some nice blacks on beds and on Sun. we caught big at pre-spawn blacks and spots. The top water bite is just starting to kick in. Many ish to be caught in the 4-10 oot range.

Report: Spent aternoon with 13 year old. Windy, tough to control boat. Tried dark plastic worms on points and coves rom 2-12', no ish or bites. Switched to jigs with a darkish Mr. Twister and live night crawler along points, missed a couple, but no serious action. On a lark switched to small shad raps and my son caught a smally about 1/2 pound. I'm an old prairie walleye isherman trying to learn (and teach my kid) bassin'. Up to date tips would be most appreciated, either to my email address or on the list. Thanks!!
