Camanche Lake
-
Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I fished Comanche Thur thru Sunday AM. I averaged 12-15 bass each day with one 20 fish day. There was a great top water bite from 6:00 -7:15 PM each night. Caught numerous 3lb fish and one 4lber. Top water fish were caught along the rocky shore in the upper river area. Sara spooks and tiny torpedoes were the best baits. The morning and afternoon bite was slow due to extreme heat and limited to smaller fish caught on drop shot robo worms and Comanche Jack plastics in 20ft off rocky points. Tried crank bait and carolina rigged plastics and nada. Caught a couple of missed top water fish on senko.
City: Foster CityTips: Fish top water late evening and drop shot during the morning. Sleep during the heat of the mid-day

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 71-76
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started late and left early but just disgusting water. Launched at the oaks. The green scum layer in some places was several inches think. Tried to find clearer water, north to Shag rock no luck, the break south of there was clearer but no luck, got a couple dinks on a dropshot off old dock piers in 8ft. Tried 15-25 ft water with no luck, plastic, swimbait, crankbait. Finally, on the way out stopped by Rattlesnake and the water was clearer from the island to about 10 feet deep. Ended up with another 6 fish in 45 minutes on a Senko. No size though. Saw alot of shad that were 1-1.25 inches. No clearlake hogs I was looking for.
City: PacificaTips: I did not find anything deep and there are fish under the scum.
Someone let us know when the lake turns and the water clarity comes back..... -
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Camped this weekend at the State Park and got to fish in the biggest green, slimy mess I have every fished in including the FL Everglades but overall once you get over the smell and the cleaning off your lure every other cast there are fish to catch. The bass seem to be on a shad pattern following the large schools into the shallows, once you find the shad just keep cover water. Caught 10 up to the 5.5lb range most in the 2.5-3lb range
City: WheatlandTips: spinnerbaits, topwater, and rattletraps

-
Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I went out for about 4 hours to check on the bite found tons of bait just graphing the creek channels leading into coves. I stayed with the spoon for most of the time and ended up with about 20 fish. Most of these fish were not keepers but it was a lot of fun just getting the bites. The bait fish are very small so I had to down size my spoon to get the bites. Cooler weather will be just what we need for this lake to go nuts.

Oroville Lake

Water Temp: 68
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: My partner and I fished the first ever National Bass West Northern Team tournament here on Sunday. This organization is based in Southern California and have been around for awhile. It features 100% payback on everything with their sponsors picking up expences. You can check out everything at National Bass West.com. We launched from the new ramp at Bidwell (what a treat) and caught a bunch of fish throughout the day. The winning weight was over 12 pounds with big fish over 3. Most guys dart headed or drop shotted their limits fishing cuts. Specific baits were not mentioned but probably their favorite worm or tube etc. The next team tournament is at the end of the month and there is a pro team tournament here in a couple of weeks.
City: ParadiseTips: We used worms and senkos on dart heads to cull up to 9.35. We didn't find any concentrations of bait fish which could have helped are cause but I'm sure they're still around. If I went tomorrow I would probably use the same stuff, maybe add some tubes. Price to get thru the gate now is 13 bucks. Good Fishing

Cachuma Lake
-
Water Temp: 73+-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fish busting shad as the sun came up. Too much bait to have interest in artificials.
Once sun was on the water for a few hours the bite picked up. Lots of small fish.
18 fish total between 2 people. Nothing over 2 pounds (most under 1 pound). Need the weather/water to cool down. Fall should be great!
City: VenturaTips: Shad imitations- Robo hologram shad on drop shot and splitshot

Report: Made a quick trip to Folsom. Launched at 8:00 and caught 7 small ones by 2:00. All fish were caught in 15 feet. Started on the humps and then hit some secondary points. Warmouth worms on dart heads.
Tips: Bite was soft and you had to be patient for them to take it.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Made another trip to have a little more fun spooning with Mark Fong. The area we were in exploded with action for several hours from the surface down to 50ft. I agree there are shallow fish and with the cooler nights and water temp. the shallow fishing should only get better. The bigger shad are starting to move up and the bass are there following them.
The previous reports were not ment ot say that all the bass are deep, just that when they are schooled up down there and you can find them feeding, it's a blast!!

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: This was my first non-salmon fishing trip on the Delta. My friend and I left Ladds at 9am and we fished rip rap, and tules, piers and all manner of cover. most of our luck transpired at the main channel point at ladds with a lipless crankbait quickly netting us 3-4 small stripper. A nice start, but we failed to establish a pattern. we were on the rising tide and left shortly after high tide.

Lake of the Pines
-
Water Temp: 74-76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: on the water at 6 a.m. a 21# 5 fish limit by 6:30.
The fish were tight to the shore, and roaming the bays. caught one about 6 on a chatterbait, and a bunch on a buzzbait. We got some on a beaver, and a few on crankbaits. The fishing went downhill when the sun hit the water... as expected for a 100 degree day. We were off the water by 10 and probably caught 15 fish, most of those early.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: ?
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Not much of a report, more of an observation...most of the posts at Berryessa lately have talked about fish in 35-40 foot depths and no big fish shallow but I had a different observation today. While my wife rode her bike in preparation for the Berryessa triathlon Oct. 3rd I walked around Oak Shores and saw MANY fish from shore. There were plenty of young ones but lots of bass in the 2-3+ lb range easily seen cruising the shore line. The cool thing was that there were all 3 species of black bass and they were traveling in packs of 2 or more.
I was only able to fish for 1/2 an hour since I had my 3 month old boy to tend to but I caught one small fish and had several bites that I couldn't convert (a screaming kid and a fishing rod in your arms makes setting the hook hard I found!)
City: NapaTips: Basically, don't let the reports stear you away from a day at your favorite water hole. You might find different conditions than what you read. Bob Button was flying his L-39 Albatross jet over the lake today too so there was a private airshow making the trip worth it as well. Just get out there. Don't be lured away by a few bad reports.

McClure Lake
-
Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Shad busting up all day, almost everywhere. Several small bass taken on topwater, in-line spinners, and small shad imitating crankbaits.
Never found anything bigger than a 1 lb.
rumor has it bigger ones can be found deeper at the 35-40 ft range, but I never found them.
City: AtwaterTips: have fun, practice your topwater lures.

Soulajule Lake
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Had'nt been to Soulajule in probably two years, but I gave it a go today. Fished the west side of the dam for a half hour with nothing. Hiked over to the other side, and on my second cast nailed a 4 pounder on a jig. Nice fat fish. Fished for about an hour more, never got another bite.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was up on Sunday getting schooled by a good friend Rick Tietz of Blade Runner Bait Company. He showed me that most if not all of the better fish are from 30 to 45 feet deep. We caught 20 fish from 2.5 to 3 pounds. Creek channels leading into any cove we fished showing bait and Bass 30 to 45 feet produced fish. It was all I could do to keep from putting on a topwater bait but almost all the fish we saw busting the surface were small. All of our fish came on Blade Runner spoons in Morning Dawn and Black and White 1 3/4 oz. We saw a lot of suspended fish and caught some of them just dropping the spoon down and looking at the graph as the spoon went down to the fish.
City: SacramentoTips: Good electronics are a must.

California Delta
-
Water Temp: 70's
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Was out on Saturday with 2 clients and caught about 15 stripers on Pencil poppers in the Big Break and Sherman lake. Started about 6:00am with the outgoing tide and left at Noon when it bottomed out. The biggest was only 4.5 pounds but the action was nonstop for the fist three hours of the tide. We had some nice fish bust on the baits but did not hook up. The wind was putting a small chop on the water which may have lead to fish missing the bait at times. Should be more fish moving into the system every day.
City: SacramentoTips: Never stop your topwater if you get a hit. Just keep it going and they will hit it all the way to the boat.
