Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 55-59
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I made the long haul to Pardee yesterday to see if things were better 2 weeks ago. As usual, the largemouth were nicer to me, but a 4 lb 13 oz smallie put a smile on my face. She took a #301 5" Senko on my first cast with that bait - about 4:30 pm. I had caught a 2 3/4 lb smallie and two largemouth earlier in the day. After photos and releasing the big one, I fished the Senko for another hour straight - not a touch! Before I quit, I fished an off-shore rock pile from fun and got nailed by a 2 3/4 largie - again on the first cast (jig)! That was followed by 2 more 3 lb largies. So, hard work, but 7 bass total with my 5 best at 16+ lbs. Gorgeous scenery and wildflowers this time of year!! Almost makes slow fishing worth it, har!!
City: Yuba CityTips: 6 of my 7 bass were on Blade Runner and Rodstrainer jigs - all brown/orange with a 5" #180 Yamamoto double tail grub. I always use the double tail in very clear water where sight is important too. I was using a 1/2 oz jig which they seemed to like. I did that because of the wind and fishing deep water - but most of the quality bass were 12 feet or less. I caught fish in the narrows and the main body. Water temp was about the same everywhere - best I found was 59.7.

Tips: Bass are starting to move up live baits your best bet for the bigger bass. Dam area is holding some good fish off the face across the dam and around the tower.Jigs brushogs use on flats next to deeper water around rock piles fish are also holding.

Whiskeytown Lake
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Hey Robert, Whiskeytown lake is an extremly clear, and cold lake. It is a very difficult lake to fish so you don't get a lot of weekend fishermen there, they usually go to shasta. Whiskeytown is fished by mostly tournament guys, that is why no one reports. Try using watermelon baby brush hogs on a c-rig or watermelon red flake senkos in the the fall downs in the coves. Some guys do well throwing trout swimbaits and D-shot halogram shad in a 4 one half inch curltale.
City: ReddingTips: Use the latest line possible, has to be flurocarben, and oil your reels for extremely long cast, and good luck, if you don't get any success shasta isn't that far from W-town!

Berryessa Lake

Water Temp: LOW 50S
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I hadn't been to the lake in five weeks and was very excited to go fishing. Arrived at the lake around 10 PM Thursday night. We entered our cabin only to discover we had been robbed. Our TV was gone but the worst part was my favorite fishing rods and reels that I have used faithfully every week for the past ten plus years were taken too. Needless to say my heart was broken it was like losing a best friend. I had planned to fish on Friday morning and had to cancel. The water is murky from the rain run-off. My buddy Albert convinced me not to sit around and mope but to get out and fish a little. I went through some of my other rods and decided on a light spinning rod and put a R2S crawdad on. About fifty casts later I had no luck. It was very windy, cold and wet out. Albert had caught two nice bass earlier that morning but neither of us had any luck now. Albert wanted to wait for the four o'clock bite so I half-heartly agreed. Sure enough at around four another friend caught a bass. The water is still very low even after all the rain. I had really hoped to have an exciting report for you this week after so long an absence but circumstances beyond my control prevented me from fishing the way I had planned. Hope to be in a better mood next weekend and get out there and do some serious fishing. 'til next week.........................................................good fishing!!!!!!!!

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Made my first trip to the Delta last monday after 6 months of spotted Bass fishing. Was welcomed by 30 knot winds and zero visibility water conditions, and 3 ft. rollers in piper slough. started around Frank's tract and sand mound but absolutely horrible conditions and no bites. Took the beating and ran south. Ended up with about a dozen bites, 8 in the boat, best five went 24 lbs with a couple 5 1/2's and one around 7 lbs. all on jigs. Sound good? they all came off one 200 yard stretch! everywhere else we fished we blanked. 2 passes on that bank two hours apart for all our bites. tough bite!! 3 other boats we talked to blanked.
City: HollisterTips: we didn't really fish anything but jigs because of the water temp drop the previous day. we were fishing pretty fast, popping the dragging the baits from the bank to about 4 or 5 ft. Solid bites, no doubt about it when you got picked up.
