Report: The main reason for my post is to promote the upcoming Chico Bass Conservation Club Oroville Team Bass tournament to be held on April 25. For a $60.00 entry you get a chance to win a few bucks fishing, a BBQ dinner and entry in the big fish option for a chance at more cash. All the conditions are right for this tournament to draw over 100 boats. Hey and don't leave the wives and kids at home cause there are plenty of chances for them to win a prize at the weigh-in. You can call 872-8805 or 877-0912 for more information or if you have a fax number you can e-mail me and I'll be glad to send you a copy of the flyer with all the info. With the lake up 111 feet at this post and all the ramps open its not to early to gear up for what promises to be the biggest bang for your buck in fishing this year. See you there.
      City: Paradise

Tips: Everything looks fishy out there now and to be honest I don't have a handle on whats working best. But reports show rip baits off points in windy conditions would be a good bet. Or start with the baits you have the most confidence in and see where that leads you. We may get more posts in here to help. Above all get out there and enjoy the lake while we still have water in it.

Report: THERE ARE VERY MANY REASONS WHY THEY WILL NOT OPEN UP THE RIVER.THE MAIN REASON IS FISHERMAN ALL THE PRESSURE THE LITTLE HAS ONIT THE FISH ARE VERY COMFORTABLE BACK THERE LEFT ALONE. THEY OPEN IT UP AND THE FISHING PRESSURE WILL SKYROCKET.LEAVE THEM ALONE AND LET THEM GROW BIG.AND THE BALD EAGLE NEST FELL DOWN LAST YEAR.

Report: Next time someone fishes Eastman and is posting, please make mention of water level in relation to 3rd ramp, 2nd ramp and maybe how far up said ramp. I fish this lake as much as possible and just have a curiosity as to how much up from my Fall trip. This lake ROCKS and i can't wait to get back to fish it in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Also, I have been searching for info regarding opening up the river arm, at least partially. I believe the concern is bald eagle nests and there were discussions about opening up for fall. (hey, fisherman are stoked to simply see the eagle, no one wants to encroach on a nest) This is a GREAT area - why not post no landing signs on inside and call it a day. The Hydrilla weeds can't still be a problem, can they? I've caught tons of great fish in that area when it was open.

      Someone, fish Eastman and post!

Tips: Love this lake - catch and release.

      Water Temp: 51

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished this past Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we fished the main body and the Pitt. We caught 15 fish, all but one were on Senko's. Only was was of any size. Lots of drift, the water is very milky everywhere and quite abit of wind. Sunday we fished the Sac arm. Water was not quite as stained at Salt Creek. We caught 13 fish. Again only one of any size and all were on Senko,s. The wind was blowing!! At times we were doing 14 mph down the shoreline. We did see occasional large concentrations of fish at 50 to 80 feet and they were suspended??
      City: Rough and Ready

Tips: Senko's seem to be the only thing they would bite? Only one fish on minnows. We tried spinnerbaits, dart headed worms, beavers and several other things to no avail. The wind played a major part on what we could do or not do.

      Water Temp: Felt like upper

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I tried Float Tubing initially, but the wind blew me all over hell and back, so i hauled it back to the car and went on foot. With all the wind, i fished wind blown points and did pretty good. All on Jigs. I tried mixing it up with spinnerbaits, worms/senkos and cranks. All bit on Jigs in shallower water. I would say the bite is on; fish look really good. My biggest - 3-1/2 lbs, had a nice belly and sort of red lips - makes me think they are eating crawdads ... i'd say spawn is almost here. Saw a lot of carp.
      City: PacificGrove

Tips: if the weather continues, I would bet next week really turns on more. Everyone should be releasing - saw a bass head on shore and a dead fish later in the day. WTF?

Report: Fished the delta saturday and sunday. Saturday was beautiful but was forced into only a couple hours of fishing due to engine problems and a trolling motor scare. Only got 3 hours in, missed 1 on a frog first thing and blanked the rest of the day. Sunday was met with 30mph winds, tried finding seclusion in Sycamore, picked up a 2.5lb. Ran to Little Potato and the entrance of whites, terrible conditions. ran back between Tower Park and the Mokolumne, cvaught a dink, lost 2 fish, landed a 3lb striper and lost a very very big fish, assuming it was a striper. Had to chase it with the boat, was a great fight though on a med rod with 10lb test. a buddy had a great day sunday with their limit going 17lbs with a 7.5 kicker.

      Tips: Blue bird days suck

Report: Forecast for Sunday was windy so headed to Orwood. First hr., calm, little wind , picked up a 2lb on senko, black/blue laminate, in tulles. went further south and wind was horrible. Fished but no bites. Headed back toward Orwood, picked up 1.5 on senko, then my uncle picked up a 7.9 then 5 min later, a 6.2. At 1pm, called it quits.
      City: South San Francisco

Tips: The fish the last two weeks seem to prefer darker colors. No hits on the browns and watermelon colors. Have some smaller fish on cranks, nothing on swimbaits or jigs.

Water Temp: sorry no temp s

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out today with good friends to see folsom for the first time in around three years. The lake is up quite a bit from last time I was out, and appears to be up from were it has been in awhile. The wind was up most of the day. We started up the south fork around 9 am made two casts caught a nice largie around 2.5 on senko then after about 30 minutes we ran to the north fork for some reason then I caught a 1.5 spot on mm111 dropshot in 11 feet of water fished the north fork for two hours then ran back to the south fork fished there for three more hours and left those were our highlights. I tried alot of reaction to no avail (swimmers, wakers, rips etc..). I here the lake is red hot and I will be the first to say that it probably was but this cold wind has messed the bite up on many diffrent lakes so I will try again later. Hey its still fishing and I can't get enough.
      City: grass valley

Tips: For the next couple days I would say go slow and don't give up it will get hot again. On another note the aba folsom went out today and it took over 12 to get a check and 15 to win not sure of the pattern but dartheads were mentioned as a bait. Good job winners?

Report: My trip on Saturday was great. I had a father and son out that had been out on the lake 8 times prior and never got a bite. First fish was on a Fat Free Shad crankbait. That was the only reaction fish of the day. The next few we caught on smoke grub with 1/8oz. head just swimming it slowly back to the boat. Rest were caught on a Carolina rigged Robo worm (Aarons Magic) just dragging it slow through the weeds in water 5 to 12 feet deep. We fished the west and east side of the lake north of Big Island for the first part of the day then moved down through the Narrows to finish of the day. They caught a total of 10 with the biggest going 4 lbs.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: These fish are moving up. Next weeks weather will bring in a lot more so look for most to be in the 5'to 15' of water.

Report: Lauched out of Capell Cove (FYI it fills up fast with the western resorts closed). Headed to skiers cove buddy nailed a small spot in 15' of water on a crawdad/ red crankbait. We had a few bites but no hook ups on plastics (brown green and reds) at 15 to 30 '. On the way out the cove ( east side rocks) caught a smallie on a brown black flake brushhog. We then bouched around the narrows had a cope more bites and a few followers but didn't land anything.

Thanks Lunker Larry for always posting how you did and good tips.

Still fun to go no matter what. Still has to turn over. anytime now.....

      Water Temp: 54-56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Rick Tietz and I made a quick night trip (6 hr) Fri night to check out the bite. We lauched out of Red Bud and just stuck in that general area. When we started, about 9 pm, the carp were rolling and the bass were chomping. Rick's FIRST cast with his Blade Runner spinnerbait enticed a big bass. I yelled "break it off - can't catch one on the first cast!!". Well, he did land her - about 7 1/4 lbs. We were doomed!! The action was great - we quickly put 5 in the boat, then --- the lake went dead! After 2 hours the bite did pick up again for smaller bass and we even hit a hot spot that produced several in a row. The problem was they were mostly males from 2 to 3 3/4 lbs - no big ones. We tried many presentations with the Blade Runner jig working best for him and a brush hog for me. I did catch one of the bigger ones on the Pirahna swim jig but that bait wasn't as effective last night. We quit about 3 this morning with a total of 20 bass and a best 5 of almost 21 lbs. Rick caught the biggest (by far!), I caught the most - AND - the smallest at 13 inches! I thought Clear Lake bass were born at 2 lbs!!!!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: As most of you know, I relate weather patterns to the bite on nearly every trip I make, and many patterns have held up through the years. I was surprised to see my Ranger boat covered in heavy moisture (dew) by midnight. I thought than was strange after 2 or 3 dry days of north wind. The carp never resumed rolling much, no bird sounds, and it was just quiet out there. It has always been difficult for me to catch big bass on nights like that and other anglers have agreed. Just my observation. That was on the south end. Things could have been different mid-lake or at the north end. We caught our bass from 3 to 15 feet - couldn't get any deeper bites. Saw tons of carp on the meter for the first time and lots of bass too - but the bass seemed to be suspended and not very active. To finish this discussion up, many of those moist, damp nights have been followed by drier conditions the next night and a wide open bite. Hmmmmmm - wish I was there tonight!
