Report: Forecast for Sunday was windy so headed to Orwood. First hr., calm, little wind , picked up a 2lb on senko, black/blue laminate, in tulles. went further south and wind was horrible. Fished but no bites. Headed back toward Orwood, picked up 1.5 on senko, then my uncle picked up a 7.9 then 5 min later, a 6.2. At 1pm, called it quits.
      City: South San Francisco

Tips: The fish the last two weeks seem to prefer darker colors. No hits on the browns and watermelon colors. Have some smaller fish on cranks, nothing on swimbaits or jigs.

Water Temp: sorry no temp s

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out today with good friends to see folsom for the first time in around three years. The lake is up quite a bit from last time I was out, and appears to be up from were it has been in awhile. The wind was up most of the day. We started up the south fork around 9 am made two casts caught a nice largie around 2.5 on senko then after about 30 minutes we ran to the north fork for some reason then I caught a 1.5 spot on mm111 dropshot in 11 feet of water fished the north fork for two hours then ran back to the south fork fished there for three more hours and left those were our highlights. I tried alot of reaction to no avail (swimmers, wakers, rips etc..). I here the lake is red hot and I will be the first to say that it probably was but this cold wind has messed the bite up on many diffrent lakes so I will try again later. Hey its still fishing and I can't get enough.
      City: grass valley

Tips: For the next couple days I would say go slow and don't give up it will get hot again. On another note the aba folsom went out today and it took over 12 to get a check and 15 to win not sure of the pattern but dartheads were mentioned as a bait. Good job winners?

      Water Temp: 58-61

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: My trip on Saturday was great. I had a father and son out that had been out on the lake 8 times prior and never got a bite. First fish was on a Fat Free Shad crankbait. That was the only reaction fish of the day. The next few we caught on smoke grub with 1/8oz. head just swimming it slowly back to the boat. Rest were caught on a Carolina rigged Robo worm (Aarons Magic) just dragging it slow through the weeds in water 5 to 12 feet deep. We fished the west and east side of the lake north of Big Island for the first part of the day then moved down through the Narrows to finish of the day. They caught a total of 10 with the biggest going 4 lbs.
      City: Sacramento

Tips: These fish are moving up. Next weeks weather will bring in a lot more so look for most to be in the 5'to 15' of water.

Report: Lauched out of Capell Cove (FYI it fills up fast with the western resorts closed). Headed to skiers cove buddy nailed a small spot in 15' of water on a crawdad/ red crankbait. We had a few bites but no hook ups on plastics (brown green and reds) at 15 to 30 '. On the way out the cove ( east side rocks) caught a smallie on a brown black flake brushhog. We then bouched around the narrows had a cope more bites and a few followers but didn't land anything.

Thanks Lunker Larry for always posting how you did and good tips.

Still fun to go no matter what. Still has to turn over. anytime now.....
      City: Newark

      Water Temp: 54-56

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Rick Tietz and I made a quick night trip (6 hr) Fri night to check out the bite. We lauched out of Red Bud and just stuck in that general area. When we started, about 9 pm, the carp were rolling and the bass were chomping. Rick's FIRST cast with his Blade Runner spinnerbait enticed a big bass. I yelled "break it off - can't catch one on the first cast!!". Well, he did land her - about 7 1/4 lbs. We were doomed!! The action was great - we quickly put 5 in the boat, then --- the lake went dead! After 2 hours the bite did pick up again for smaller bass and we even hit a hot spot that produced several in a row. The problem was they were mostly males from 2 to 3 3/4 lbs - no big ones. We tried many presentations with the Blade Runner jig working best for him and a brush hog for me. I did catch one of the bigger ones on the Pirahna swim jig but that bait wasn't as effective last night. We quit about 3 this morning with a total of 20 bass and a best 5 of almost 21 lbs. Rick caught the biggest (by far!), I caught the most - AND - the smallest at 13 inches! I thought Clear Lake bass were born at 2 lbs!!!!!
      City: Yuba City

Tips: As most of you know, I relate weather patterns to the bite on nearly every trip I make, and many patterns have held up through the years. I was surprised to see my Ranger boat covered in heavy moisture (dew) by midnight. I thought than was strange after 2 or 3 dry days of north wind. The carp never resumed rolling much, no bird sounds, and it was just quiet out there. It has always been difficult for me to catch big bass on nights like that and other anglers have agreed. Just my observation. That was on the south end. Things could have been different mid-lake or at the north end. We caught our bass from 3 to 15 feet - couldn't get any deeper bites. Saw tons of carp on the meter for the first time and lots of bass too - but the bass seemed to be suspended and not very active. To finish this discussion up, many of those moist, damp nights have been followed by drier conditions the next night and a wide open bite. Hmmmmmm - wish I was there tonight!

Report: Well took my sons best friend out today to see if we could get some big collins fish but today was'nt the day. we fished all over the lake with the hud no takers couple hits but I'm pretty sure they were small spots guarding there beds yup I said beds. We found about twelve bed fish today not really visible but I could get hit in the same spot four and five times then come back in awhile and get hit again in the same spot all were in 8 to 10 feet of water which makes sense with the water coming up four feet recently. They were all spots and most were bucks with two being hens caught lots of other fish but only three largies the biggest was about 3.5 pounds came on blades most came on dropshot mm111.
      City: grass valley

Tips: The hud will turn back on when the lake stabalizes again but till then enjoy the fact that you can go to a local lake and catch a ton of fish and the reaction bite appears to be getting ready to start first thing in the morning we had quite a few hits and landed three on the lim-it lure 1/2 ounce white and chart dble willow with chart and silver blades so enjoy the nice weather and go fishin p.s. You can get trout on blades also lost one about 6 today.

Report: Lets see if we can out do Larry's day on the water. Basin Bassmasters spent the day looking for that "BIG" one also. 12 boats with some of the best anglers around. After the day was done three boats blanked and others had some nice smallies and largemouths. The winning weight was 11.10 for four fish with a 3.62 kicker. A 3.86 lb smallie came in with Joe Miller and me a 3.80 largmouth. The winner Jason and Mitch were using split shot wacky senko worm. Watch for the bass on the beds, some of them are locked on and others are spooky still. Also look for warmer water. Use Jigs, tubes, worms and swimbaits.
      City: Rocklin

Tips: Look for the bass on the beds and work them slow.

Had 1 17' boat in middle of lake thinking he was a jet ski until their boat conked out right in the middle of deep water(no pun intended)As for fishing, threw the kitchen sink at them & caught & released 5 fish, biggest 21" male skinny & pale on a red & blk Senko. at least weather was nice. See you guys at the Coastside Annual Dinner in San Mateo!

Report: Well, I made the run this evening from Roseville for another vein attempt at catching the ever elusive and mythical Hud fish... Fished from 5:00PM until dark. After reading the last report I decided to focus on the area between the launch ramp to the dam slow rollin an 8" ROF5- nada. Finished the evening on the East shore fishing all depths for the usual HUD goose egg. Talked with a guy who apparently caught 3 Hud fisn earlier in the day (groan)... The water looks great now with up to 4ft of viz near the dam. There were apparently 3 trout plantings since the 25th and they were jumping everyhwere. Beautiful evening.
      City: Roseville

      Tips: Use senkos

Report: Hey new hud guys don't get discouraged! they just stocked the lake again at collins there for there has just been a new meal bell going off now that the truck has dumped try in front of the swim beach at the drop off point and the south side of the lake between the ramp and the dam also switch to rof 5 fish it slower on calm days (watch out for ospreys the will carry your bait off if they do just hold pressure they will drop it don't pull you will just tear your hud)I will be back out there tommorrow the best bite has been first thing in the morning and then after 4pm hope this helps see you out there.
      City: grass valley

Tips: If the wind comes up follow it fish whichever bank it is blowing against but let it blow for about an hour before you give it a try during slow times mid day you can catch spots with dropshot on the flats or move to about 15 feet of water and use 10 inch black and purple power worm those big girls will eat this bait also.
