California Delta

Water Temp: 52-58
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished yesterday (Sat). Water temp dropped quite a bit and early morning was really windy and cold.
Caught a 5-0 near Franks in 20+ near shallow water hoping a lipless off the bottom and a 2-10 in a levee break with current at 12'. Felt like most fish retreated to deeper water with the drop in temp.
City: San RamonTips: look for transition areas (deep-to-shallow) and try different depths until you find the fish. Current is always a must-check.

Collins Lake
-
Water Temp: 55-57
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Took a short trip with my wifey last night she had buisness meetings till 1pm so we didn't start till around three talked to a few guys as I was checking in they all told me the same thing fishing is tough had not caught a fish all day. My second cast 1.5 spot fifth cast 2.0 spot few minutes later 2.5 largie the point is don't listen to dock talk you can get the wrong attitude heading in. Those all came on mm111 4.5 drop shoted in about 8 to 10 feet of water. put the dropshot down picked up the hud and started chucking I've got to say it was a terrible day for huds slight north wind and then that died so I went from a rof 12 to a rof 5 and fished it much slower. about an hour before dark I hooked up with a giant spot 5.5 lbs great fight and my wife got to show off her netting skills. The trout plants are ridiculous right now and if you want to catch trout I highley recommend collins there everywhere.
City: grass valleyTips: Collins is getting ready to be good again the water is muddy so there arent allot of fish spawning but they want to so keep trying with the hud it will still produce big fish infact a 9.2 and 15 pounder were caught on 4/2/09 on huds good job.

Water Temp: Not Exactly Sur
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Pretty Windy like Steve L. said. Made detecting bites kinda difficult but a buddy and I were able to land three of six fish we enticed (or at least the bait enticed) to bite. All bows. Two in the 14" class and another that was about 2lbs. Wish it weren't as windy but oh well. Water level's come up a bit so some of that nice structure is back underwater for Bass. Happy Hunting.
City: Walnut CreekTips: White Power Egg and white floating Power Worm (cut to about 2") on a size 14 treble seems to do the trick great. Previously caught our limit on 2/28 fishing this combo.

Water Temp: 50-57
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: A bit chilly on sat to say the least but it quickly wore off after that first initial run ended!! Started out just throwing reaction baits lucky craft, yozuri's, and shad patterns to no avail!! Fished south hard till 10:30 with out a bite and then got a small KEEPER in about twenty feet! As we pulled up to a spot way up the south arm there were a couple of guys fishing with live bait on a wall up there "supposedly for trout".. I asked them if they had done any good and they pulled up a stringer with a Beautiful pre spawn 4 pound momma just fat as can be with eggs!!! I was so upset that they were gonna keep her i thought about jumping in and cutting that thing loose but i held back my urge and just tried to put it out of my mind!! Fricken sad to see!!! Fished around main body to end the day with only that one little guy and headed in frustrated as can be!!!
City: Fair OaksTips: Please guys the lake is hard enough and i want my kids to enjoy the largemouth bass in the future so if you must keep them make sure they are not prego and make for dang sure they are over the legal limit!! Its best to just buy the ones at the store if you must enjoy a nice meal cause bass are not known for their taste anyway!!
God Bless!! -
Water Temp: 52-56
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished the CBAF today with about 25 to 30 other boats. Very tough morning bite, at noon we only had two fish in the live well. After that the fished moved up and we started culling at 1:00 ended up just short of eleven pounds.Lots of small weights, I did not go to the awards as it was in Rocklin but I think around 13 lbs was the winner and just shy of 4 lbs was big fish.
City: Granite BayTips: Fish the afternoon the next couple of days
-
Water Temp: 57
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Well me and my brother gave it a try today got on the water at 6:20 am. we didn't pick up our first fish until about 8:30 am on a Xrap in about 15 ft. then my brother picks 1 up on a dropshot in about 20 ft. Then we came up on a group of people catching and keeping undersized bass so I called fish and game and gave them their CF # as soon as I called they high tailed it out of their and think headed in. I talked to the game warden and they didn't get them this time but next time I hope their luck runs out !! The game warden told me that the CF # I gave him didn't match any boat In the records so you guys keep going out their and I hope you get caught !! well we ended up with 4 fish for the day,oh well think I'll try Amador tomorrow
City: CarmichaelTips: If You see these people out on the water taking undersized fish Get Cf # and a good description of the boat and # of people poaching

McClure Lake
-
Water Temp: 58
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: sunny, partly cloudy with wind 5-15mph comming from the south, blowiing to the NNW corner.
some patchy water temps some areas 60 others 55.
Inactive bite....seemed they were still 24-28ft down some anglers caught fish on senko's dragged on the bottom. Another tournament out of South Barretts again, but I didn't cath the Organization. The Anglers came ripping in at 2'oclock...funny how the no wake zone gets ignored for tournaments....I spent a few minutes waiting to cross the lake why they measured thier manhood.
City: AtwaterTips: fish deep.jigs, shakey heads...or soft plastics.

Nicasio Lake
-

Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 56-58.5
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Took me a couple of hours to get a pattern dialed in, but once I did, all hell broke loose. Not alot in terms of numbers, but I caught four fish over 5lbs with the biggest tipping my scale at 9lbs 12oz and the marinas scale at 9 1/2 lbs. Total fish for Saturday was 7. All fish fell victim to the same worm on very light line. No fish were caught off of beds- they were caught in areas adjacent to spawning areas. I looked for beds and found a few with some males on them but they were very scittish and uncommitted.
City: Elk GroveTips: Never go fishing without a camera. When I caught the big one, I realized I had no camera!!! I put her in the livewell (which was way too small on my 84 Ranger...she had to sit in there diagonally)and hauled to the marina. They dont sell cameras, but the guy working was kind enough to use his own camera to take pictures...I will post when he emails to me.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Thanks to Mike White for the advice. The info will help out tremendously. So I've got the boat inspection, launch ramp, and fee's taken care of but does anyone know HOW to fish clear lake????? I hear it's very similar to the delta which I fish often. My arsenal so far is: black/blue jig, wacky rigged senko (purple, junebug, watermelon, etc.) swimbaits (shellcracker, mission, spro trout hardbait), spinnerbaits (bluegill, black/red, shad), crankbaits (crawdad, shad, bluegill)10 inch power worm and big show paddle tail texas rigged. That's all I can think of so far. Any other options?????? Thanks to all for any help! I am NOT a tourney angler.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Got Skunked, so did everyone else I talked to. Fished for trout and crappie. It was windy as hell.
City: FremontTips: Sorry to hear about your dog, Spoony. People can get real stupid with their dogs at this lake. Next time don't hesitate to defend your dog, I know I wouldn't. Here's a tip for you dog owners: keep your dog on the damn leash, unless you want them getting into fights or getting a mouth full of hooks. Most of you do not have good control over your dogs, so stop pretending to.

Sunday, 4/5/09 - Fished from 10AM-4PM and only boated half dozen (all 2 - 2.5#, but I helped a guy weigh a bass that was 7# 11 oz).
City: Cameron ParkTips: No reaction bites for me

Calero Reservoir
-
Water Temp: 63
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: With Lake Anderson closed due to lack of staff for the mussel inspections, Richard and I had no choice but to go to Calero Reservoir. Starting off at the back of Bailey Cove, we threw spinnerbaits and jigs but had no luck. The water was quite dirty due to the run off from the storms we had last week. Around 10am, we made a move to the flats located between the two damns. The water clarity here is much better, about 2-3 feet. Richard throws out a tube on a 7

Folsom Lake
-
Water Temp: 55
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: The wind has pushed the fish out to 5-15ft.
Look for fish on the most vertical drop off in spawning areas and fish slow. When the wind go's down head for the back of bays and find the best isolated cover.Mid next week should be wide open!
City: rosevilleTips: I fish folsom 3-4 days a week and see lots of shore fishermen killing every fish they catch. On thrus i saw five "people" fishing the rock garden area from the bank all but one of them had three bobbers out or more. And they are out almost every day. Please stop killing my best freinds. If we all stop talking about it and do somthing then it will chang.Call dfg in front of them so they can hear the call and stay in site so you can help dfg find them cf# plate # .
Last year i called dfg on four guys killing short fish off the dock @gb .The thing that botherd me the most was alot of people did nothing. They all got cited for over limit and under size fish. I don't think calling things as you see them is a bad thing and if they were white guys i would have done the same.Call dfg and keep the white trash thing out of it .I will help anyone that is not killing fish .

City: palermoTips: stay focused when you got those short strikers a bite in.

Pardee Lake
-
Water Temp: 57-62
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: I hoped to beat an in coming front today but didn't make it. I started fishing about 11 am and the wind was up. It clouded up and got nasty in the early afternoon. I only caught a beautiful trout (14") on a Senko. Finally I caught a largemouth nearly 3 lbs at the south end. She was pretty beat up from spawning. As I worked my way back to the ramp, I threw the same brown/orange jig of the side of a point and my line took off. Finally a decent bass - another largemouth at 4 lbs 10 oz - not a mark on her - yet!! And that was it - 5 bites - 2 bass and 1 trout. I did not venture into the river arm - probably should have. Wish I had better news - and better timing!!!
City: Yuba CityTips: The lake appears to have dropped 2 or so feet since last week. It still has several feet to go before it fills - if it does. I saw a few on beds but wind took care of that kind of fishing. Didn't find any in the back of coves - except the trout!! The next warm front should bring a lot more bass up - but that won't be for a few days. Maybe big cold front on Monday.
