Coyote Lake
-
Water Temp: unknown
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Got skunked. Fished 9:00 - 1:00 all around the north end walking the shore. Tried various plastics and spinnerbaits with not even a strike. Saw some fish in the big weed patches but couldn't get them out. Saw only one fisherman catch a bass from a boat. Everyone else I talked to on shore skunked too.
City: san joseTips: Fish elsewhere?

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 80-84
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I went to Clear Lake with a friend last night and found the fishing to be slower, just as I heard. I was in Canada for the last week and saw some of the most beautiful water I've ever seen - in eastern Canada. I was on a train and couldn't get it to stop so I could make a cast!!!! Wow - smallmouth anyone?! Anyway, we fished from 5 pm to around 11:30 pm and caught 5 before dark and 5 after - mostly in the 2 3/4 lb to 3 1/2 lb range. I hooked my second big bass in as many trips about 8 pm in the south end. I was using a wacky #301 5" Senko - hooked her in about 2 feet of water above heavy weeds and fought her for about 3 minutes until the hook pulled out. The jury is still out for me concerning the weedless Gami Senko hooks. I would have assumed I had her hooked well! Big fish!! The Senko bite seemed best in the evening on dock pilings but my friend nailed the biggest on a white buzzbait. The buzz bite was fair, not as good as a few weeks previous. Spooks and Devil's Horses did not work. The jig bite was the best again at night and the Power worm produced a few. We lost several at night for some reason. Night fishing goes through slow periods just as day fishing does and this last week or two must be that period. A 6 or 7 lb catfish ended the evening as it should!!
City: Yuba cityTips: Hard to give too many tips when the bite is slow. Weeds have caused the bass to be scattered quite a bit. Why else would I have hooked that big bass in the middle of nowhere - the weeds were obviously good structure. As I said before, the jig bite is something to be aware of - if you can find a place to fish them!!

Sonoma Lake

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: We got on the water early, around 6am, and headed way up north to the back of the Dry Creek arm. There is a ton of grass back there with a nice deep channel running right through it. We caught 3 fish in the first hour, a 3.5 on a black buzzbait, a 4.3 on a Vixen, and another 3.5 on a Lunker Punker Jr. After that, the fish shut off. It seems that as soon as the sun gets on the water, the bass start to suspend and chase bait way off the bank. We got off the water around 3pm, and did manage to catch a couple more dinks on worms.

Water Temp: 76-78
Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: Started at 8am, fish top water and reaction baits for about an hour with not even a look. Dropshot and deep diving cranks were the only thing I could connect on, 13 fish up to 6lbs. Had to work for them today. My buddy got one on a blade later in the afternoon as well.
City: San JoseTips: Cover allot of water!!!

California Delta
-
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Weather had been scorchin hot, so I had to go. One thing about the delta, is that it's current driven and when the lakes get tough, the delta only gets better with the stable, hot weather. Was a good day. Frog, wake bait, swim bait and shakey head all worked. No monsters, but best 5 went 19'10 and I didn't have a fish over 4 1/2. That's some good quality. Chasing shade was key, as was finding deeper pockets just outside of the current. My best bites came on the shakey Aarons Majic. Fished all middle delta, right off the main channels.

-
Camanche Lake
-
Water Temp: 81
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished Friday and Saturday. Good on Friday and shut down on Sat when the holiday crowd arrived. Caught and released 22 bass, mostly spots up to 4lbs. Biggest were caught on top water along rock walls during the evening top water bite which was wild. They loved my frog but I missed as many as I caught. The rest came on a combination of drop shot robo worm, brass n glass cut tail worm, and carolina rig brush hog. All caught in the river area near rocky points in 8-25ft of water.
City: Foster CityTips: Early and late fishing is really good. Hang out and take a nap between 10:00 am and 4:00PM then get after them. Don't be afraid to fish shallow. There are some big ones in less that 8ft of water.

Sonoma Lake

Water Temp: 76
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Hank and I got on the water at around 5pm. We started off throwing swimbaits and topwater out on the main body, but had no luck. Desperate to get bit, we tossed out drop shots and dart head worms, but still no takers. We then took a bit of a gamble and made the long run to the back of the Warm Springs arm. Arriving just before dark, I tied my top water Vixen back on. There was only 45 minutes of daylight remaining so I put my trolling motor on 70 to cover as much water as possible. We caught 4 fish before it got dark, including a nice 5.3. I was working the Vixen slow along a steep wall, when the big fish came up and slurped it from the surface, making hardly a ripple. After it got dark, we tied on jigs and caught another 8 fish to 3lbs. At 1am we called it a night.

Report: Fish Franks and Fisherman's cut yesterday in a turkey shoot. Hardley any boats out and calm wind. Striper activity everywhere and a couple of sea lions out full force. We fish the out going tide around 5:00 and caught tweety bird frog fish around 3-5 foot of open water near tullies and flip fish (301 senkos and watermelon/green pumpkin beavers) in the same areas. Over all it was a tough bite, with only half of dozen fish caught, biggest 3.5lbs...good luck

City: DixonTips: We caught most of the stripers in a 30 minute span in Frank's Tract cranking 3/4 oz Rat L Traps.

Water Temp: 70s
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Catching a lot of bass in the 2-3lb class. Getting a few up to 6lbs. Berserk shaky head with a 6" worm. Getting some cranking craw colors, but you need to bounce it off of some type of structure. We caught quite a few smallmouth up to 2lbs.
Tips: Fish shallow to about 25ft and if you are using plastics, use them slow, drag them. One or two fish coming on topwater, and a few coming on crankbaits. www.fishwrangler.net if you need help out there I guide out there as well (209)604-8222.

California Delta

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)
Report: This is a 2part report. First, I want thank all of those who write reports. For those who don't have much luck, it makes me feel like I'm not the "lone ranger." For those who have good days, it gives me hope.
Part 2 is Grouchy and I went out of Big Break on Wednesday and started in Sherman Island. The first spot was great. Numerous frog boils and we boated about 5 fish, all clones. 2.5lbers. We fished a little more in the area and then went to the Break area, both with poor results. Big Break waters were clear and the weather was great all day. Very warm but a nice breeze. Conditions seemed great and it was hard to believe we went 3 hours with only a couple of rats. Around 2:30 we got into some action again and finished the day with a few keeper size bass and a couple of small stripers. All the fish(not that many) came on frogs, rattletraps or small swim baits.
City: orindaTips: I'm still a delta dummy. All I know is that when your'e in the right place at the right time it can be real good. If someone could just tell me where the right place is and when's the right time...oh forgot to mention that my bud, grouchy caught most of the fish.

Anderson Lake
-
Water Temp: 74'-76'
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Fished points and rock walls. Well over 10 keepers. Largest was 3.67lbs., lost a fat one at the boat. Looked like about 6lbs. but not sure.
City: Santa ClaraTips: Always fun at Anderson! The place is open! Go early and you will get the good inspector.

Calero Reservoir
-
Water Temp: unknown
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Fished 5:00 - 7:30 PM from shore on the right side, between the ramp and the dam. Caught four small bass, all four on a small chartreuse spinnerbait with a little shad scent/flavor juice added. Tried a purple worm too with no luck. My fishing partner tried bait with no luck. All were caught in the weeds.
City: San JoseTips: chartreuse spinner bait straight through the weeds, slow retrieve. Cast REALLY far out - bring a surf rod if you have to. The bigger guys are further out, almost to the buoys. 2-3 min after a jetski goes by the bass start jumping (not sure why, maybe they kick up food).

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 79-82
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I usually dont fish Berryessa from July - August but my 3 year old wanted to go so what are you going to do but take him to the lake. Went with top water first. Threw a Vixen and Lucky Craft popper over shallow points and rocky banks, nothing going. Moved to the grass and threw a frog and buzz bait still nothing. The whole time my son is dragging a brush hog and nothing going on that. I was amazed by the amount of bait in very only 2-10 feet of water and nothing chasing. Checked out a couple deep point and island tops on the east side went to a drop shot and picked up a couple smallmouth. Went into Putah Creek and fished some walls picked up a couple Largemouth. Decided it was time to just catch fish since the bigger ones were not active and moved down to the narrows for some spots. Finished out the day with 7 more off walls and mud lines.
City: VacavilleTips: If you have to go to Berryessa you are probably better off fishing the narrows. The fish were right up in the mud line, or 30-40 ft on the walls. Around mid September the lake will start improving but for now it looks like it will be pretty tough during the day time. Better at night.
