Both of the main creeks were completely blown out today. A lot of water coming in.

    • Report: After months of meager flows, Putah Creek finally begins to roar after 2-5 inches of rain in the watershed in March 2018. The flow is approximately 3000-5000 cfs. This is shot in the Crystal Flat Wildflower Preserve north of the Berryessa Estates right before Putah Creek enters Lake Berryessa .

Was out today and fished the east delta. Water temps start around 52 and come up to mid 50’s as the sun gets up. Chocolate milk pretty much everywhere. Best water clarity was in whites slough with 3-4 ft of visibility.

Side note, Find the grass to get bites, a lot of water is a wasteland due to the spraying.

    • Report: by Kyle46N » Fri Mar 23, 2018 2:22 pm

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Mokelumne was blown out (brown), and that included many of the sloughs branching off of it, to include a large part of Potato slough south of Terminous and then into White Slough for a while. The San Joaquin was good though and that seemed to be pushing into White Slough and Disappointment to keep some clarity. That's the extent of the area I fished most recently. Last Friday I was down around Mildred, and Old River to south of Franks, and that was all very clear. Everything around Mildred was crystal clear.

    • Report: ATTENTION BOATERS! Due to the current forecast for wet weather, the Tuolumne River Arm debris barrier boom located 5 miles upstream from the Moccasin Pt. Recreation Area has been closed. Additional downstream debris barrier booms are still open. This boom will be re-opened as soon as conditions permit. These Debris Barrier booms will be periodically opened and closed throughout the rainy season based upon weather and Tuolumne River inflow forecasts.

    • Report: Officials have downgraded the severity of the Moccasin Reservoir Dam from “imminent” failure to “potential” failure, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office said.

Waterflow from the dam’s emergency spillway triggered a flash flood warning Thursday for south central Tuolumne County, the National Weather Service said. The warning is in effect until 2:15 p.m. Friday.

The flood waters will be contained by the Don Pedro Reservoir, which is about one mile downstream.

The waterflow from Moccasin Reservoir Dam will have little impact on Don Pedro Reservoir. Moccasin Reservoir Dam can hold 554 acre-feet of water. Don Pedro Reservoir can hold 2.05 million acre-feet of water. Currently, Don Pedro is at 84 percent capacity, which means it still has room for 300,000 acre-feet of water.

    • Water Temp: 50-51.2

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Mike Sperbeck and I made a short trip to Bullards to check on the bite. What bite? No more snow, ramps are good. I wasn't feeling real great, so I let Mike catch 'em all - all 3 of them. At least there was a minor bite. Weather and water are very cold!! I guess the word is out - only saw one other bass boat. We really need some sun, badly! Bullards is not an open water lake like Berryessa and Clear Lake and it really needs some sunny days to start warming the water. Not happened yet. Mikes biggest was about 2 1/2 lbs

Tips: His fish were at least 40 feet deep and caught on walls.

    • Water Temp: 52

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: With all the rain everything had a little color to the water. Very slow day and had to through the drop shot and slow roll the A Rig. Ended the day with only 4 fish. I jumped in a harbor and caught some crappies, even that was slow 10 fish or so and on the small size.

    • Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I took out two high school anglers in the latest of the nor-cal high school fishing tournaments put on by FLW. Blast off was a bit late due to hang ups at the ramp but all boats were on their way by 7:30. We had gotten good fish in the flooded trees up north on the east side on Saturday. But Sunday was a different story. We got two decent ones on small swim baits at the vineyards but that was it. So we went "point bombing" in the narrows and on the south west shore with jigs and drop shot worms. The fish got better as the day wore on and we had a great bunch of fish grabbing MM III worms tossed on west shore points. The sun came out of the clouds and was shining straight down on the water so we moved off a little deeper on the points and culled out three fish with nice replacements on a single point near Spanish Flat. We ran out of time and had to haul ass back to weigh in in Paradise Cove. Our nearly 11 pounds was back in the average range so no trophy today. The winners had the same fish as everyone else but added a 5+ pounder to pump their weight to over 16 pounds. Thanks Larry!

Tips: When in doubt for keepers work the big rocky points on the main lake and in the narrows with your favorite worms or jigs.

Hey there everyone, I got to hit the delta for a couple hours this past weekend and had a good time.. I hit the water on a High outgoing tide throwing reaction baits an the bite was slow just picking up one here and there so i changed gears to flippin an it definitely seemed the slower the better.. I fished from 7:30 to Noon an had 17lbs, I did have any kicker just all solid chunks.

    • Water Temp: 49-52

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: They say the month of March comes "in like a lion, out like a lamb", but to date it has seemingly been 19 days of lion-ness. That being said, they are still biting. When the lake chooses to calm down, late winter tactics are still ripping lips. Those I talked to said they hadn't seen any pre-spawn activity, so the spawn *might* be later than usual. We had a tough time finding them, but they are there. We took a few on a ned rig and we caught one on a spinner bait when the wind and chop was at full throttle.

Tips: Late-winter tactics; either endure the rain and fish through, or wait for a sunny day and guess at what they're biting on.

17...& 1/2” on baby brush hog.
My brother threw in that same spot for about half hour with a pink robo worm. I threw about 3-4 cast then my line starts v-lining towards little rock pile. Should get even better next week after these rains comes through.

Report: On the water: 12:00 PM
      Off the water: 4:30 PM
      Air Temp:
      Low: 36
      High: 59
      Barometric Pressure: 30.02
Sky: Mostly clear with scattered clouds
      Water Temp: 59 to 61 F
Water Clarity: Stained (green to brown) 1 to 2 feet
Water Level: full and running over
Wind: Very little wind, slight breeze at times
      Moon: Waxing Crescent (1% vislble)
      Fish Activity: Moderate
Lures: Jigs, Crankbaits, Chatterbaits, Worms, Senkos

Narrative: Headed out to KBR today with Mickey and Tanner for a few hours to catch the afternoon bite and to check on lake conditions for upcoming KBR Member's Tournament on 3/24/18. The ranch has received 2.5 inches of rain with the last storm and the lake is completely full and overflowing over the spillway into the lake to the west. The lake is really healthy and the spawn should be fantastic this year with the high water conditions. Now for the fishing.....We got on a great jig bite right away. Tanner got his first jig fish today, and now he's hooked! Caught a few on a crankbait and one on a chatterbait. We picked up a few more on worms and Senkos and then called it a day. The fish were holding in 3 to 8 feet of water. With a week or two of warm weather the fishing will be incredible!

Tips: Get ready for the spawn. 1 to 2 weeks of stable, warm weather and this place will be amazing!

Striper Trolling and plug casting has stayed solid a bit with. Water temps raised a bit this week and a few more stripers in the Cache Slough area responded. Sturgeon remains the focus here. Diamondback anglers are heading to 41, Liberty and Cache Slough areas with roe and eel reporting success.

      Rio Vista Fishing Report
Sturgeon anglers in front of Collinsville or Red Barn still get bit. Shore bound anglers are scoring both species. The best place to score a striped bass or sturgeon remains Sherman Island in the area of the Power Lines, use Sardines or Red’s Bloody Eel.

Many more Small stripes and occasionally, a 12-15 pounder caught. Savage 3D Glides working for casters and P-line Angry Eye lures are key for the trolling anglers. Swim jigs around pumps getting stripers.

The stripers starting to show anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 18 pounds have grabbed Spooks and Pencil Poppers. Trollers it’s getting started. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.

      Contra Loma Fishing Report
Trout fishing is still good at the east side, north side of lake or from a boat with nightcrawlers, Power Eggs, or mice tails. Water up fast slowed the bite for now. Black bass have been biting on artificial baits/lures and nightcrawlers around the lake. Try a AC Minnow wake bait or a Savage Trout.

      Los Vaqueros Fishing Report
Trout action best bet. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Cowboy Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. There was a 1000 lb DFW plant on March 8th. There was also a 1000 lb Lassen plant this week. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been holding steady with more limits being caught from all around the reservoir.

    • Water Temp: 52-54

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I guided an expert angler yesterday all over the lower end of Berryessa, showing him areas that were new to him. We experienced all sorts of weather - mostly cold and a little wet. Early afternoon we even had the big north wind hit - rare during a storm, followed by more south wind. Thank goodness the big thunderstorms didn't hit until I was towing home. The bite was slow as the water temp was the same as a month ago. He did catch two nice bass, largemouth and smallmouth, in the 2 3/4 lb range. Missed a few good ones as the bite was timid. It was fun to run into a bunch of near keepers at the last place we stopped. They probably moved up as the sun finally came out. Robo worms worked as always.

Tips: Can't say much as client will be involved in tourney activity this weekend. Bass do seem ready to come shallow in spite of the weather. Our bigger bass were not too deep. Water is clear - so far. May be different this weekend in the coves. But, remember, these are not warm storms. Check your temp guage!

    • Report: by kb » Thu Mar 15, 2018 5:10 pm

The warmer rains will have the fish biting on jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, a-rigs and plastics. From the bank the Beals Point and Granite Bay Area will be good with some fish near the rocks.
