Report: Hey guys, i just quickly need to ask if anyone's been catfishing at berryessa, or if you've heard any negative or positive reports of the conditions for catfishing right now. any advice helps: 'cause i'm going to berryessa this weekend for catfish using chicken liver, and i'm just wondering because the fishing report said there was no sign of cats, yet i know that some of those kinds of reports aren't always true. THANKS!!!!!!!

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Decided to celebrate my Birthday by going out on the Delta. Launched out of Paradise and took a long ride down Disappointment, the San Joaquin, 14 Mile and White. Around 8:30 AM the Wind took over. I took this new guy out for the second time because he has never caught fish on a Senko or Plastics for that matter. We had about 4 fish by 9AM all on Plastics. Then the gates opened and this guy was in fish heaven. He nails a 3 LB beauty on a Wacky Rigged Senko and after a few more small ones he lands a 6 LB plus beauty. I thought he was going to fly out of the boat he was excited. I lost count of the fish we caught but we did manage to weight 5 fish and he had right around 24 LBS for some who has never fished with a Senko. We used the Watermelon/Black combo 6 Inch hooked regular and Wacky style. I threw Blades, Cranks, Buzz and Swim Baits and no takers only Senkos. Around 10 AM we found that Seal that was eating everything in the area and he is now Rock Kill (aka Road Kill), someone shot it. Looks like he has been there for around a week. The water was murky and the Wind was at full force when we left at Noon. All together a great day for the Rookie.
      City: Elk Grove

Tips: Pitching into the Tules and Dead Sticking it at times. Used some Pro Cure on the Wacky Rig and it seemed to trigger the bigger bites.

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Gonna be getting back down there in about 3 weeks, just wanted to shoot out an invite to anyone for a little fun fishing over the summer. I know I talked to a few of you before...the new truck is towing good and the BassTracker is primed and ready to get back to the valley waters! I'll be getting out there at least 2-3 times week (usually afternoons and weekends)

For those of you who have been out there recently... What's the water level (will there be any by July?!) any specific bites turning on yet, (Rat-L-Traps, Jigs, etc) What the water temp doing? Any info would be appreciated!

Shoot me an email or pm off the forum.

      All the best,

      Water Temp: 52-60

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Took the Mrs. out to pre-fish for a couple of clients the next day. We had a late start but from 10am to 2pm we caught around 40 bass with 5 over. Used the usual jigs, worms, tubes and drop shot. All worked and in many differnt colors. May 1st, I took out two great guys that wanted to learn some new techniques. I started them out throwing spooks and flukes with good success. Then, I introduced them to bed fishing. They really enjoyed the visual game and produced some nice bass. We then went out of the coves to target post spawn bass throwing tubes. They caught around 35+ with their top bag at 10lbs. Lots of high-fives and a great day.

Report: You guys are killin' me with this no reaction bite stuff! I guess I'm the only one who is catching bass off spinnerbaits, cranks, and jerkbaits right now. I was out in a little 12 foot boat this past weekend, no electronics, a trolling motor that kept falling off and we nailed em' on reaction baits. I'm not saying we didn't use the normal jig, tube, worm routine but I am saying we caught all of our good fish(15 or better )on reaction baits.

Report: Launched at Ladd's this morning and decided to try 14 Mile and Disappointment. The action was fast from the start. Had 14 fish in the first hour and a half. The tide was just topping out and then turning around. Things started to slow as the day wore on. Finished with 21 at the boat. Best one went 8.1 then a 5.8 and several in the 3 to 4 lb. range. Caught all but two on a texas rigged Zoom Dead Ringer. A good day in my book.
      City: Stkn.

Tips: Almost all fish came from tules, the rip-rap didn't work for me today.

      Water Temp: 59

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Took a client out on Thursday and caught 17 fish. We fished middle river and caught them all on shad colored senkos. The fish were in rock with tules , next to deeper water. Friday I had another client that wanted to go for big fish only. We only caught 5 fish ,but they were good ones. He caught a 11 ,a 8,two 5'sand a 4. Lynn flipped these fish from a back water area and man were these fish hot. He stuck them on a 8" Zoom red shad lizard.E-mail me for more info.

Tips: GO to the hard to get at areas to catch the big fish.

      City: Layfayette

      Water Temp: 52 to 53

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished 3 days on the pit. Rain and wind and cold slowed down the bite but managed a couple of fish an hour.Average fish was about 14 inches.caught more fish on the main points of the pit rather than back in the coves.
      City: Penn Valley

Tips: Shakey head worms and gitzets in bright colors worked best 2 to 10 feet deep. No surface action probably because of the sudden drop in water temp. Going back next week and would expect the water to be a few degrees warmer and better fishing.

      Water Temp: 55

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished last Thurs and Fri. Thurs was tough, only 8 fish, but Fri was a blast. Still slow but an 8 lb LM and a 5.5 lb smallie before 7 AM helped make the backseater very happy. Ended up with a 24 LB 5 fish limit. Today (28th) was horrible. 2 small fish, and smallies on beds everywhere in the afternoon. The only problem was that the usual Trinity PM wind started about 10:30. The other problem is the that there is a cold front expected here tomorrow, which will probably put the smallies back down for a week or so.

Tips: Larry... Next time you head up here give me a call. I know I'm known as dinker John, but I might actually have some good advice.

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: It was a beautiful weekend out at Berryessa. My friends and I loaded a bunch of gear in our boats and we camped out on the big island in the middle of the lake. We arrived Friday evening at around 4pm. We decided to fish skiers cove, and got on a decent top water bite. By the time in got dark David and I landed about 20 fish to 2.5 pounds. Saturday was a bit tougher because of all the extra fishing pressure and boat traffic. We went to the north-east corner of the lake. The topwater bite never happened in the morning for some reason. By 10am there wasn

      Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Noticed not alot of reports. Thats cause the fishing is tough. Tournement weights way down with. hard to get a 5 fish limit for 2. The long cold winter and fronts that keep changing the fish patterns has them screwed up. Some tink the lake is on a down turn. we will see

Tips: make every bite count. Some days they are far and few.

      Water Temp: 63 to 68

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Evening fly fishing with beaded flys, dark colors, drop shotting with kut tail worms and wacky rig, 4-6 inch. One bass on swim bait at dusk. Bass are shallow near rocky shore.
      City: Brentwood

Tips: grn pmkin, watermelon red flake, slow slow down

      Water Temp: warm

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: 5 on gulp minnows. 1 on a darter head. 5 on a popper. The faster baits worked better. Finally the topwater bite has hit. Insects have hatched, small fish were jumping and being chased by the bass.
      City: Santa Rosa

Tips: Look for the small fish jumping or a bass bust out on top. Cast there and the bass will most likely bite when it hits the water, or after a few pops. If you dont see anything, just cast out and retrieve like normal and wait for a strike, or look around for one.
