Water Temp: 72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I went out this past Thursday and decided to fish the cove where Willy's Ski School used to be. I have always enjoyed fishing there and was not disappointed this time either. I spent the day there and caught a total of 22 bass the largest weighing in at 5 pounds 3 ounces (see photos). On Friday around noon I went out with John and we trolled from Steele Park to Spanish Flats and caught two nice trout and a bass then we headed back towards Steele Park hugging the shoreline and throwing plastics. It was a very successful day we caught a total of 31 fish the largest weighing 3.5 pounds (see photo).
On Saturday at around noon Lonny and his kids Lucy age 8 and Max age 6 joined me for a fun day of fishing and jet skiing. We started by trolling towards Spanish Flats and got a few hook ups and landed a couple of bass. The kids were having a great time and I was teaching them how to drop shot which they picked up very quickly. The wind picked up and since Lonny and Max wanted to ride the jet ski we head back to the dock so he could launch the ski and while they went riding Lucy and I stayed in the launch area fishing where we were protected from the wind. She did a great job catching a few bass and landing them on her own (see photos). She learned one important lesson when you catch a bigger fish do not stop reeling in till you land it if the tension is loose the fish can spit it out. Lonny and Max got back from their ride and we all fished for awhile longer it was a fun day for all of us. 'til next time.................good fishing!!!!!!

Report: Delta Report…Great Weather for #FishOakley as Male and Female Anglers from throughout California head to Big Break for the Wild West Pro-Am, Three- Days of Awesome competition!
Isleton Fishing Report
Fun times as Smallies are grabbing baits throughout the area. Craw patterns are key. Summer night pattern prevails for bait tossing anglers. Catfish start to show in better numbers with Mackerel. Sardines and livers are the best bets for whisker fish. Striper Trolling and plug casting has been better the last few days. Trolling the Angry Eyes and Savage Preys is the best bet.
Rio Vista Fishing Report
Comfortable cool weather ahead for anglers, and forecast to stay cool before warming up late next week. Shore bound anglers are scoring both . The best place to score a striped bass or Whisker fish remains Three Mile and the area of the Power Lines, use Sardines or Shad. Trolling is still scoring many limits stripers and occasionally, a 10-12 pounder caught. Savage Prey and P-line Angry Eye lures are key for the trolling anglers.
Walnut Grove Fishing Report
North Delta Black and Smallmouth Bass in the area are a biting. Vibrating Jigs and Swim jigs are working in the Hogback and Steamboat Areas. Bank anglers tossing Anchovies and Sardines prevail for an occasional Striper and nice catfish. Those looking for bigger bites try drifting live baits for stripers cracking the 10 pound plus keeps anglers smiling.
Central Delta Fishing Report
Top water bite is starting to get going as R2Sea Ploppers and frogs had the girls slurping from the top. Many Blackie anglers are sticking with 3/4oz Jigs paired with Crawfish creature baits and Small Swim Baits paired with Fatsack Swim Jigs. Catfish and Bluegill also had a improvement this week.
Frank’s Tract Fishing Report
Black bass bite is at a consistent yet, tougher than normal bite. While last week the talk was of Better post spawn fish swallowing the Big Worm. Many are sticking Yamamoto Kut Tails and Yamamoto Senko’s paired with Tsuyoi Wacky Hooks. We are seeing a few big Black Bass with ¾ ounce Jigs. Others looking to score are starting to Toss DDO Customs.
West Delta Fishing Report
Lots of action! The stripers are here anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 8 pounds have grabbed baits . Pier anglers still getting some GOOD sized stripers and occasional sturgeon. Trollers it’s ok getting started on both sides with Montezuma and Red Barn being the top choice, if they aren’t there move to the Eddo’s Side. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.
Contra Loma Fishing Report
Not much change, Try fishing for catfish at Channel Point, Loma Island or from a boat with nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Trout are biting on nightcrawlers at Channel Point, near the swim area, or from a boat. There was another Trout Plant last Monday. Try fishing for crappie or bluegill with jigs or worms at the boat ramp area, Loma Island or Channel Point area.
Los Vaqueros Fishing Report
Wind has been brutal at times. The Best bet is fishing with cut baits with all the hungry small stripers around. Trout are a bit slower but still caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been ok with some limits being caught from all around the reservoir.

Berryessa Lake
-
Water Temp: 68-70
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took a husband-wife team to Berryessa on Wednesday, moving up their trip one day because of the rain today. What a difference in the weather from the last trip there. Wind all day, cloudy and much cooler. Main body saw big white caps - no fun. Bite was slower and the bass smaller. We stayed in the narrows the whole trip as they would not have liked the rough water. The gentleman ended the trip well on our last stop, catching a nice bass around 2 1/2 lbs. We caught all 3 species of bass. We used Robo and Berkley worms, mostly 6 inch. We still caught some bass in the back of some coves - trying to get out of the heavy wind. Still some late spawners I think.
Tips: I tried a few topwater baits in the afternoon for fun and did catch 2 small bass and missed a bigger one. I'm sure the topwater bite was ok the day before! I tried a few small beaver type baits to see if the bass were interested. They weren't!! They just seemed to want a worm. Another cool weekend is on tap with maybe Sunday rain - again! I have always done well at Berryessa on topwater during post-spawn rain events, especially in the morning. Give it a try!!

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 70-73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took two young men to Oroville for a morning of bass fishing. One was a good high school fisherman and the other gentleman really hadn't fished before. We went up the middle fork and found the bite to be ok, but not great. I was impressed that each of them caught a decent spotted bass - one at over 17 inches and one about 16 1/2 inches. However, in spite of their nice length, they were very skinny. I know they had just spawned, but I thought they were too thin. I just had the guys using Robo worms Texas rigged, because we were fishing too much rock to drop-shot. We used about 3 or 4 colors, with morning dawn and MM111 the best colors. Most bites were from 10 to 20 feet deep.
Tips: It was just amazing to see the lake drawn down so fast in such a short period of time. Just a massive amount of water released the past 3 months. Living in Yuba City - below the dam - made the releases ok with us. There are many other baits we could have used but I knew the worms would work well for them. Bass still seem to be scattered all over the place in spite of the dropping water. Our quality bass were always a little deeper than the smaller ones. Water color is excellent - just right up the middle fork. The bald red banks - points - seemed to hold the better fish.

Water Temp: 70's
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Took my son out for a day of fishing. We launched out of Markely Cove and fished the Westside near Big Island. Thank you Brad Amadeo for the waypoints. They were on hit! We then migrated to the narrows towards the end of our trip.We caught a few on top water, but our biggest fish came on plastics. Our best five (4 were my sons lol), weighed in at 13lbs.
Tips: Find the shad spawn and you will find the fish. The trees are also holding fish.

Oroville Lake
-
Water Temp: 74, elevation 818 feet
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Lime Saddle about 5:30am, stopped fishing at 10:30 am as it was getting way too hot and I had caught my share for the day. Got into them right away in 15 feet of water on a tiny ride right by the last dock used for getting fuel. Picked up 13 spots and one decent 15 1/2" spot, headed towards N. Fork and found fish nearly every place I fished. Fish ranged from 15ft to 35ft deep today, but most fish skinny after the spawn, kind of look odd so thin. Fish will take just about anything tossed at them, not real picky now, except for suspended fish, those are hard to entice to bit. Found one location in 160 feet of water that must have had 120 or more fish suspended from 20-45ft, never have seen this many hanging together, but no takers, like they are taking a nap or something. Anyway, landed 36 fish today, with best fish, one at 16 ", two 15 1/2", and three 15". Water dropped so much since my last trip, ruined several honey holes, too shallow now. Pictures in fishing forum.

Water Temp: 71-75
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I was privileged to take two well-known anglers to Berryessa on Friday - showing them some of the special features of the lake - as in "secret" structure. We learned mostly off-shore stuff and they made the best of it, catching many, many quality bass. No real toads as they are hard to locate in the post spawn. Learning the lake was their goal. The bite was very good in most areas where the largemouth and spots were active but the smallmouth, not so much. Clients came self-contained and used a variety of baits - mostly plastics. The bite was consistent most of the day where ever we went. After a brief slow period we found some huge schools of shad being hammered by quality bass. One of the most active post-spawn feeding periods I have ever seen!! They knew what they wanted and didn't hit my clients offerings very well. I wasn't fishing during that period but decided to test the Realis 90 Spybait that Jason Kincannon had showed me. I had only fished it once, briefly. I threw it a few times and got a good hit but missed it. A few minutes later it just stopped and got heavy - gaining 5 lbs! After a great fight, I landed that 5 lb largemouth. Thought I'd never get her in with the small hooks and 6 lb test. One of the guys was good with the net, too - LOL!!
Tips: I can't give you an ides of the baits we used - lots of different ones. Most bass were on steeper banks except for the afternoon frenzy. But that activity had deep water close by. I'm guessing our limit was pushing 17 lbs with over 20 quality bass. Water color was almost perfect, clearing some after the big 3 day weekend. Great weather - great clients - great day!!

Clear Lake
-
Water Temp: 70-74
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: I took 3 young men to Clear Lake Saturday. They wanted a day on the water and hoped to catch some bass. They did - and some other species as well! This is the "new" Clear Lake - you never know what you are going to catch!! I had them using 6" Robo worms of various colors which motivated various species to bite. Lets see - they caught bluegill, several crappie, the token catfish - mud cat this time about 7 lbs - and many bass. Like yesterday at Berryessa, clients did better on quality bass in the afternoon. Weird! We fished the south end up to the narrows. Though one or two of them had not fished in a long time, their casting skills were quite good. So was their SNAGGING skill - LOL! They did find a lot of rocks, but hey, they were fishing along the bottom as they should. Those days happen. They did wind up with several bass in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lb range.
Tips: We are in the summer pattern now - most of the south end water is green with a thin layer of algae while above Wheeler Point, the water is clean. Weeds are beginning to show in the shallows and tule lines are well-defined. There are still some very shallow quality bass as we saw a fellow catch a 5 1/2 pounder next to the tules. We took his picture - fun!!

New Melones Lake
-
Water Temp: 73
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: New Melones bite has been ramping up this week, seems like we have been behind the other foothill lakes on the Kokanee bite, but not for two anglers on 06/03, hauling in 9 koks, 2-21/2 lb. range, and a few trout. This is what we have been waiting for and for now the Kokanee bite is on. Fish were caught between 35 ft. and as deep as 60 ft, 1.6 mph, using pink Apex lure with a pink dodger, tipped with kokanee corn.
Bass fishing has been good on the lake with anglers averaging 3-4 lb spots and largemouth fishing senkos and top water baits. Last nights evening bite was good for a woman who landed a hog of a largemouth weighing just over 8 lbs. with a senko wacky rig fishing just off shore along a rocky cliff face.
Trout fishing has been good, but you have to put your 6-8 hrs in to fill your limit. Gary Burns of Take to The Limit Guide Service reports catching really nice hard fighting bows, bring in a couple limits for his clients. Using the same setup your fishing koks with, hoochies/ dodgers are producing our limits Gary reports.
Thanks, Gene Hildebrand

Find fallen trees, weed beds or the tulle patches. We would recommend throwing either a weedless senko or crawfish on a ½- to a 1-oz football jighead. Anglers are also catching them on shallow to mid running crank baits. Trout has slowed down due to the warm weather, most anglers are catching them on either garlic or colored Power Bait or nightcrawlers.

Black Butte Lake
-
Water Temp: 70 - 83
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Once again my family spent Memorial weekend camping and fishing on Black Butte Lake.
Although the water level was at or just under full pool, the top water temps were a little high. Ranging from 78 in the mornings to 83 in the afternoons, it was a bit warm and green alga was beginning to grow. We decided to fish southward in the Stoney Creek inlet where water temps were quite a bit cooler. Temps ranged between 70-73 and fishing was much better than on the main lake.
First morning we found fish under the willows in about 8 feet of water. Throwing soft swimbaits (in various colors) was the ticket. The desired color varied as the day progressed. Starting with white in the morning and changing to smoke/dark in the afternoon was the pattern. They also seemed to want the larger 3.5” and rarely hit the 2.8” smaller variety. Regardless, the trick was to let your bait sink almost to the bottom before retrieving. Typically they attack it on the bottom of the fall.
The first day I pulled into the boat 46 bass myself. My largest was 3 lbs 13 oz. Most fish were in the 1.2 – 1.5 lb range. An accessional 2+ was caught. In the 4 days we fished mornings only, the boat brought in 167 bass and 2 crappie. Not bad for a post spawned lake.
Fishing the main lake (shoreline to the West)… it was tough with hot water temps and the beginning of an algae bloom.Tips: Take a child fishing... this could be the beginning of a lifetime hobby!

Oroville Lake

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Two of us caught about 45 fish but many were smaller. Two at 15 inches and one at 16 but most right around 12 or 13. We were dart heading with chartreuse or white grubs. The little guys were nipping a lot of tails off. We fished from 7 till 11 AM and launched at the ramp near the house boats. There was not a lot of debris on the water and that was a surprise. It was my first visit to Oroville this year. The wind chases us where ever we went on the lake.

Report: Memorial Day weekend was great the weather was good being with family and friends was great and the fishing was fabulous!!! Another of my son's friends Kevin went out with me for the day and caught 22 bass whatever bait he tried worked he was so thrilled he's favorite was drop shoting (see photos). My son and I went out for about an hour and he beat me catching four fish to my three largest bass weighing over 3.5 pounds. I went out with Bob when I first got up to the lake I caught a bass right off the bat on a top water lure (chugger) it was exciting Bob caught three bass in about twenty minutes drop shoting. The last day I went out with Albert. We only used plastics and caught a limit of fish and came in by noon (see photos). Like I said the fishing was hot, hot, hot!!!! My son came in and Dan did it again he landed a large mouth bass weighing in at a little over five pounds. That ended a great fishing weekend.

Report: Hi all.... I got out a couple more times this holiday weekend. The water is different in areas that I fished, from super clear and warm, to stained like tea, to muddy and cold. Choose your flavor right ? Well the flavor of the week for me was all but the cold muddy stuff. Caught fish on top water in the morning, then tried to get the frog working, I got a couple blowups but nothing to speak of. Spinner baits and other bluegill colored baits did well. Caught a good number of fish, but no toads. Thanks to all the soldiers, we will never forget your sacrifice.

Larger Stripers had another cameo appearance this week yet it was very brief. Crappie and Bluegill also had a improvement this week.
Frank’s Tract Fishing Report
After being beat up by crazy winds for a week, we some of the best water conditions of the year. Black bass bite is at a consistent yet, tougher than normal bite. Hematoma Beavers on over cast days also working well. We are seeing a few big Black Bass with ¾ ounce Jigs. Others looking to score are starting to crank Chartreuse Shad 6th Sense baits and DDO custom Craws are solid options.
West Delta Fishing Report
The stripers are here anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 28 pounds have grabbed baits . Trollers it’s getting started on both sides with Red Barn being the top choice, if they aren’t there move to the Eddo’s Side. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.
Contra Loma Fishing Report
Continues as one of the best local bets! Try fishing for catfish at Channel Point, Loma Island or from a boat with nightcrawlers or chicken liver. Trout are biting on nightcrawlers at Channel Point, near the swim area, or from a boat. Black bass fishing has been good again this week, biting on artificial baits/lures or nightcrawlers anywhere around the lake. Try fishing for crappie or bluegill with jigs or worms at the boat ramp area, Loma Island or Channel Point area.
Los Vaqueros Fishing Report
The Best bet is fishing with cut baits with all the hungry small stripers around. Trout are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Peninsula Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. There was a 1000 lb Lassen plant on May 9th . There will be plant next week. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been very good with more limits being caught from all around the reservoir.
Del Valle Fishing Report
Trout has slowed down due to the warm weather, most anglers are catching them on either garlic or colored Power Bait or nightcrawlers. Staff would also recommend using small spinners or smaller jerk baits, Lucky Craft, or yo zuri. Anglers have been catching trout in the deeper waters, as the fish are staying down at depths of 15-20 feet. Black bass are hitting pretty good. Find fallen trees, weed beds or the tulle patches. We would recommend throwing either a weedless senko or artificial crawdads on a ½- to a 1-oz football jighead. Anglers are also catching them on shallow to mid running crank baits.
SF Bay Fishing Report
Many anglers are picking up tray baits (Herring and Anchovies) and heading to the Alameda rock wall and the Emeryville areas for Some Big Halibut! Along with the Halibut many stripes are showing as well.

Water Temp: 70.5
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Finally get to write a decent fishing report! Fished Sun night thru Tues nite. Hit the water around 11PM Sunday & got into fish right of way. We fished at night, all south & primarily stayed in the Konocti area. It seems some of the fish are coming off post spawn & are starting to be more active. We ended Sun day night with 17 fish, best five going 29.12 highlighted by an 8.8, 6.12, & 6.6. Tried to change out that last 3.8 for a 3.12 to get over 30 lbs but we just could not get 'er done! They were hitting the Texas rigged double wide beaver, Yamamoto cut tail worm, blades, cranks, & a few on the jig. (big fish came on the jig!) No takers on the Senko. Colors were dark with some red in them. Oxblood worked really well for us! Monday nite was slower with only 8 fish, but we did manage four 6's with the rest around 2 lbs. Tues nite was the small fish night, we had to work for them & manages one 5.15 on a blade. I think the small system coming in started to affect the bite, when we get more stable weather, I think the bite will get more consistent!
Tips: Move around, we only had one spot where we caught more than one fish & throw a lot of different baits. They were up fairly close. The muck algae is starting to form, so you have to throw deep enough to avoid it, around 5 ft of depth or so. They seem to be hanging just off that weedline. Fished deep also to see if they were on rocky humps & did manage one 6lber in 18 ft of water, but for the most part, deeper water was pretty slow. All of the fish looked really healthy & I hope the jig bite picks up when the crawdads start to get active. I think they are getting more & more active & we will be back in 3 weeks to try it again! Stay safe & have fun!

Mendocino Lake

Water Temp: 85.6
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Not like the last time we were here! Got on the lake at 3pm & the water was in the mid 80's! This is the only the second time I fished this lake & I thought the temp would be in the mid 70's. Anyway, to make a long story short, we caught one dink on three strikes. We threw lipless & med cranks, senkos, texas rig, & blades. I think with the temp, the bite is early morning or dusk! Will try again, but change the time we fish. Does anyone know if night fishing is allowed on Mendocino?
Tips: don't have any, we were happy not to blank!

Water Temp: 58-70 degrees, elevation 828
Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)
Report: Launched at Lime Saddle about 6:35, stopped fishing at 10:40am when the heat began making me sweat!! hot today. What a difference when water warms back up from my last trip, up to 68-70 degrees today and the fish were loving the warmth more then last week. Killed them today (not really) released all. Managed to catch 44 spots this morning, with 4 in the 15-15 1/2" range, one 16" and one 17" along with many in the 14 1/2" range with only 2-3 in the 10-12" range. Also got my first smallie about 13". All thin as most have spawned already, but 2-3 still full of eggs. Pictures in fishing forum.

Water Temp: 62-72
Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)
Report: Hi all...Got out on Saturday from Orwood, headed to Mildred to have some fun. Every spot had 2 boats on it. I saw alot of spooked fish, the pressure must be intense on the fish while they nest. So off I went ....to some punching honey hole close by. Picked up some aggressive fish there, then moved back south to check some other warm water, MISTAKE....the boat traffic was insane !!! I had to go to places where ski boats just don't know about, I found some cheese and caught fish right away...fished till past midnight listening to the frogs sing their songs. It's only gonna get better with the next moon phase. Have fun all !
Tips: Check your headlamp batteries.....lol
