    • Water Temp: 64 to 68.5

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On Thursday I went out with Albert. The water temperature was 64 degrees and to my surprise there were no beds visible in five key locations. We caught our limit of bass the largest weighing a little over 2 pounds. The following day I went out solo rough water white caps all day had to look for quiet water in back of coves not so easy to find but still landed 6 nice fish with the largest weighing just over 6 pounds I let her go she was full of eggs caught her on a chartreuse and white spinner bait. I ended up going in early due to the wind. Saturday I went out with Fabrice and his son Matthew who is six. I decided to start in the back of the Monticello Ski School to avoid the wind. The first bass was caught by Matthew drop shooting a Robo morning glory colored worm. The second bass was caught by you guessed it Matthew on a crank bait. The third bass was caught on a River2Sea craw dad lure by Matthew. Since he was doing so well I wanted to find an area where the bass were a little larger so he could experience landing a bigger fish. My fish finder showed some activity that looked like larger fish so we trolled through that area using a deep diving Speed Trap lure that went 15 feet down and another that went down 8 to 12 feet. You guessed it Matthew landed the first bass. It gave him a good fight but with a little help from his Dad he brought in the biggest bass of the day a 5.5 pound largemouth (see photo). We repeated that drift four more times and landed a bass each time three bass over 4 pounds each and the last bass weighed a little over 2 pounds. I asked aMatthew if he wanted to keep fishing here or go to my secret spot and he said let's go!!! Fabrice caught a bass using a spinner bait in shallow water immediately I checked out the whole area with no signs of beds or fry from a previous spawn to be seen maybe there was no spawn yet and May 10th might be the first one. Matthew wanted to end the day trying to get a catfish so I went to catfish cove threw out a hotdog and we waited to our disappointment no catfish took the bait and it was time to call it a day. 'til next time......................good fishing!!!!!

    • Water Temp: 58.7, elevation 844.44

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Launched about 6:30am today at Lime saddle, stopped fishing right at 10am. Water warmed a little more and the bite improved a little more. High water temp at 58.75 degrees. Caught my first dink of the year under 12", best fish today right at 14 1/2" with most about 13-13 1/2" Managed to catch 18 spots in the Lime saddle area out to the bridge at hwy 70. Didn't even consider the north fork, way too much wind for that area. Fish were scattered from 15 feet to about 30 feet, just one taken about 35 foot mark. Still a ton of wood around, be careful! Ramp still lots of wood, not as bad getting off as they use the boats to move it to open water, still a bear getting off the water, wood stuck under the boat, had to back off the trailer to free wood so the boat would set right with no wood under it. Pictures in fishing forum.

    • Water Temp: 50-55

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fished last 4 days, around Trinity Center most fish were in about 8ft swim bait was the bait also caught fish suspended in bushes with spinnerbait 3 to 5 lbs good trip

Tuesday, April 25th, 2017

    • Water Temp: 60

Water Clarity: Muddy (0-2 foot visibility)

Report: Launched at Rivers End targeting Italian slough in the AM. Fished thoroughly shallow hydrilla and rip rap with jigs and sweet beavers, switched to orange lip-less and finally caught one on a senko up shallow. He didn't bite it very well, even with a good hook set, he flew off my line before I could land him in the boat. Throughout the rest of the day, I did get some very subtle bites up shallow at high tide, small ticks as if they were just curious, definitely NOT hungry. I couldn't see any beds, but judging by blood around their mouths and tails, these fish were making a bed.
Went into Vic canal and caught one more small male up shallow. Staging phase most definitely as I saw fish on sonar down deep, but they were not interested in anything except just waiting for the males to finish the nest,
Although it wasn't a productive day, I was excited to piece together the puzzle and hopefully this new moon will entice the spawn!

Tips: Wait a few day, let the water warm up a bit

Bank anglers tossing shad and eel prevail for an occasional sturgeon or Striper those looking for bigger bites. Water Temp: 57-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: On water with wife @ 9am. Off @ 7pm. Intermittent breeze and overcast. 22 fish in the boat for me with biggest at 7.25 lbs. Wife only managed 5 in the boat with biggest at 2.5 lbs. She probably lost at least 10-15 as the bite was so lite and she barely had them hooked. Most fish came on Lizards, small tubes, and worms. Big fish on personalized Yo Mama baits.

    • Water Temp: 58-60

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Went out Saturdays 4/15 and 4/22; nothing to speak of...very slow. Anyone think it's the weather? Just bein' sarcastic. Everyone we asked "how are you doing?", said "A couple of little ones". Some said big goose egg. Saw many boats flipping close and many going finesse. Not sure how they were doing.
This last Sat looked promising as buddy immediately picked up a LiveTarget pumpkinseed shallow diving crank and got bit 2nd cast snappin it out of the grass at Mildred... then aboluly nothin' from then on til we ran up to White's and I picked up #2 on finesse wacky rigged 6" Watermelon / Chartr tail Zoom trick worm. Wind was really howlin' by then and we just decided to get outta there. Hoping someone else posts something more positive. Have to boat for a high schooler May 14 out of Russo's. Any tip will be appreciated!

Tips: Currently not qualified to give a tip. Tried everything for the last two weeks, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, traps, senko/stick baits, small jigs, dropshot. Senko/clones got some bites but nothing sizeable. I welcome any helpful tips! Thanx!

    • Water Temp: 58-62

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Fish are in the Spawn. Talked to a couple guys in the Wild West Tourney and Clear Lake Outdoors, they all said the same, the bite is TOUGH. Lots of bass up in the shallows but have no interest in biting. Threw everything under the sun and the only thing they would have some interest in was a drop shot Robo. Bite did get better in the afternoon but, it still wasnt as good as weeks prior. Fished North Lake, didn't travel past Soda Bay. Hopefully the weather stays in a warming pattern and the fish get out of the Spawn soon. Please remember to post reports of the lake. It helps everyone have more success on the water. Plenty of fish to go around.

    • Water Temp: 54.8, elevation 860.87

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Got launched at Lime Saddle about 6:30am, again, 50 foot of wood stacked up on the ramp. Crazy how that stuff picks the ramp for the night! Still a tad slow bite as the water still not warming up, high 54.8 degrees in my travels. Last year 62 degrees in early April. Once you find fish, great bite, finding them is the tough part. No big fish, caught only 7 basic 13" variety. Fished Lime saddle area and out to the end of the west fork. Last year this time, bit was darn near wide open. My guess 2-3 more weeks and bite should be full on. Pictures in fishing forum.

      Frank's Tract Fishing Report

Black bass bite is picking up at a consistent pace warm days only helps the Big Girls bite. Hematoma Beavers on over cast days also working well. We found a few Stripers and Black Bass with 200 S-Wavers and Chili Craw Red Eye Shad. Others looking to score are starting to crank Chartreuse Shad 6th Sense baits and Big Poppa’s are solid options. Keeper sized stripes are grabbing Bubba Shad a bit more this week and trolled Angry Eye baits. Packman A-Rigs also solid options.

The stripers starting to show anchovies and sardines in many areas for bank anglers, Antioch Pier and along Sherman Island rd. Stripes to 18 pounds have grabbed Red/White Classic shimmer jigs. Trollers it’s getting started on both sides with Red Barn being the top choice, if they aren’t there move to the Eddo’s Side. Chartreuse patterns are the best bet.

      Contra Loma Fishing Report

Trout fishing is still consistent on the east side, north side of lake or from a boat with nightcrawlers, Power Eggs, or mice tails. Too many bank walkers popping Bass to 8 pounds off the beds. Black bass have been biting on artificial baits/lures and nightcrawlers around the lake. Try a AC Minnow wake bait or a Savage Trout.

      Los Vaqueros Fishing Report

Trout action best bet. They are being caught in South Cove and Oak Point as well as Cowboy Cove. The baits of choice for shore anglers is garlic scented PowerBaits, nightcrawlers or Kastmasters. Trout average a pound and a half but range to over 5 lbs. Light tackle is important for catching trout with 4-6 pound test being plenty. There was a 1000 lb DFW plant on the way. There was also a 1000 lb Lassen plant this week. With the continuing plants, trout fishing has been holding steady with more limits being caught from all around the reservoir.

      Del Valle Fishing Report

Black Bass are on fire with anglers reporting having caught and released up to 12 bass. Most are smaller and in shallow water creating their beds. Best bet is still Senkos, either wacky or traditionally rigged. Also try a plastic crawdad, on either a half-ounce, or a one-ounce football jig head. If you do catch a bass, please release it, as she maybe pregnant. Remember that by taking one bass, anglers could be taking thousands away from the lake, so please, during the crucial spawning period, release any bass caught. Trout have been active this last week. They have been in the shallow water; anglers are having good luck on Power Bait, nightcrawlers, Rapalas, mice tails and Kastmasters. Many anglers have reported catching their limits.

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Wife and I today. Not a breath of wind all day. Lake pretty full of debris. Very slow day with all the action occurring around noon. 10 fish total. All at 13" except for the pig my wife caught @ 7.75 lbs. Caught on a 4" Lizard, 1/16 oz. bullet, 6 lb. test.

    • Water Temp: 59 -63

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Reopened Sat. the 15th after major clean up from the flooding. Lake is looking great and fishing was real good. We caught 20 plus bass LM and Smallies. 25% of the fish we caught have all ready spawned, all in the 2.5 to 4lb. range. These fish were fighters, strong and healthy. Fished the South end all day Pitchin' Brushhogs in the tules. Go have fun and maybe catch a Big One. Kalihi Boy Out!

    • Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Went out in the yak second day after storm so expecting tough bass bite and was the case. Was also right after full moon so wasn't sure how that would combine with the postfrontal stuff (if I remember right the full moon was during the storm -- anyone know how that works in practice?) Clarity was much better than previous week, could see bottom at ~9 feet, and the fish graphed on banks from previous week were indeed no longer there. Tried bluegill themed baits in coves but no takers. Shifted to Neko & Carolina rigged brush hog on break lines at 15-20 ft and the two bites came on Neko. Guys were beating the flats on opposite shore bluff all day but only overheard two bites. Note I'm a weekend warrior & no expert so just sharing observations.

Tips: Chartreuse tip worked for me

    • Water Temp: ??

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: Sprinkles of rain and all, decided to go fishing as the real rains were supposed to be late in the day. Seems the park rangers don't feel they should keep the lake safe and accessible to fisherman. Found the ramp loaded with a good 40 foot of wood, and not the fluff stuff, logs and good size logs. Figured I could get launched but sure loading the boat on the trailer would have been very hard with the amount of wood. Gave up and came home. Why doesn't the park rangers keep access for fisherman safe. ?? anyone know the answer. Pictures in fishing forum.

    • Water Temp: 57-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: I took a father/son team to Pardee on Sunday and Monday - not my favorite days to guide! In spite of post front conditions and bright skies, the bite was pretty good on day one. Even the trout bite - yes - the father and I each caught a beautiful rainbow trout - 12 and 13 inches. Who said Robo worms don't catch trout!! They were not hatchery fish - beautiful colors and sharp tail fins!! Really gorgeous fish! Clients caught 7 bass and I caught a few, all males from 1 1/4 to 2 1/2 lbs. Interesting - all largemouth and one smallmouth. Monday the north wind really set in and blew the whole day and totally shut off the bite. The son did catch his first ever smallmouth, and that was cool. All the shallower bass available on Sunday were totally gone on Monday. Looking in the water both days for bigger bass and any beds - no sign of either!

Tips: The best bait by far was the morning dawn w/chartreuse tail 6" Robo worm. Most were caught on a simple Texas rig. I did catch 2 on a small Yamamoto Flappin' hog. We looked at a little of the river arm and found it a bit colder and one cove full of wood. There was a lot of floating wood, so a slower speed is advised. The main lake is fine. I thought the east side would be the best, as is was at Berryessa last week, However, our best bite was on the west side. The lake is clearing now with 6+ feet is visability.

    • Water Temp: 59-64

Water Clarity: Stained (2-4 foot visibility)

Report: I took myself to Berryessa on Wed to check out the eastside - not my favorite part of the lake. I'm a structure guy and the eastside is kinda boring. Talk about bushes and trees in the water - thousands of them!!! I guess it is no surprise that all the bass I caught were largemouth!! It was kind of a re-learning trip as everything is different with the lake up 50 feet. That really changes the shallow east side. I started about 9:30 am and quit about 6 pm. The bite was best in the early afternoon when some faint sunlight appeared. The wind only blew about an hour from the south and it wasn't too bad. I tried crankbaits early with no action and soon realized the Senko bite was ok. I used #301 most of the day 'til I ran out. They liked #222 also - very bright color. I had lots of action, landing 8 good bass for about 17 lbs - and 2 dinks - on a 6" Senko. How do they do that?? No trophies for me - biggest at 4 1/2 lbs

Tips: I was able to find bass in the brush next to a depth change. They were fairly aggressive - some good hits! I did spend a lot of time looking the whole lake over. Amazing how this lake changes with an added 50 feet. Berryessa is not a reservoir and has lots and lots of flats and coves where water depth makes a big change in the bite. It helps to learn as much as possible when the lake is down so as to be successful when the easy spring bite becomes tougher in the summer and fall when bass move off-shore. I threw jigs also off and on, but couldn't get bit.

    • Water Temp: 59-62

Water Clarity: Clear (4+ foot visibility)

Report: Fished 4/2 - 4/5, Sunday evening to Wednesday evening & to sum it all up in a nutshell, it was very slow. We usually fish south, but ventured north on Monday & the bite was pretty much non existant for us! There are huge schools & tight balls of Threadfin Shad all over the south portion of the lake. The conditions were good & the few fish we caught were literally stuffed! We were here a few weeks ago & did pretty well & I thought we were going to run into a "lights out" bite this trip, but I was wrong. We threw Senkos, blades, cranks, all kinds of Texas rigged plastics, ripbaits, swinbaits, jigs ect & could not get anything going! I hate to write a report like this & I hope it was just us! Will be back to give it another shot in 2 or 3 weeks!

Tips: We went to Lake Mendocino on Tuesday as I figured we had nothing to lose & ran into a great Smallmouth bite there! I post a report there! As for Clear Lake, I have none this time!
